I'm truly appalled and discussed by the way i was treated earlier this morning going on 3am 11.5.25 by management I came in not sure what was happening with my account so I just came inside after scanning in but there was something wrong with a payment the expensive to costly price 59.00 annual fee that was 49.00 then added on to an automatic late fee 20 79.00 I saw so quickly on my account this is a complete high billing robbery from planet fitness the annual was 49. So that went up also I'm just canceling this completely I'm so dissatisfied with all of it now while I'm working out I get approached by the manager at 3am which I was looking for a pleasant soul my friend Victor who was absent today he's the best there at night just to say . Now the manager stops me by the equipment tells me i have an outstanding bill for 79.00 I stated to her that i will have to take care of the annual fee with my bank later on in the morning so she said still i need u to come to the counter i walked over the same damn problem i told her i would have to take care of with my bank there wasn't supposed to be any delays on payment my bank usually puts a whole on certain amounts of funds that come out that im not approving of but my bank account was good so the manager wasn't being considered or nice or understanding or decent she was just being mean and terrible at 3 am just telling me no payment is pending and my bank could have insufficient funds im like your absolutely wrong obscured to just 👎 assume anything that's not happening with my bank account she wasn't being nice understanding about the problem at all it's was pay or u have to leave 3am in the cold i just said to her can you please give me a chance to just fix this issue later on in the morning she still refuses to just telling me nonsense that was not just for a yes or no she told me I had to leave go out in the cold 36 degrees and wait in left had to wait an hour 30 minutes for my public bus in the freezing cold my membership is already paid up and she still wouldn't be nice or caring enough to let me stay just for 1 time she showed no care for this situation but get at all and as my membership is paid up i still can't use the gym until the annual is paid up i been loyal for 2 months since I returned and I get an annual fee within only 2 months really this is ridiculous to go through this so soon as yearly this is to much money I will be canceling my whole account the annual fee is a rip off it went up i can't afford it the annual fee is for what keeping the facilities clean nonsense if so it's not happening either the equipment stays dirty the women's bathrooms r very despicable nasty every time I came inside the showers were filthy dirty with long strands of hair soap pads tissue the drain was filled with a thick piece of hair in the drain garbage over flowing employees with attitudes on the phone I'm displeased and discussed i would never come back here or be treated with no consideration of kindness or understanding to me being loyal at all 2 months I just been coming and so now I get blocked from the gym for an unpaid annual fee then my membership is paid up until the 17 of November and that's paid and I still can't use the gym i want my money refunded back and this account canceled how bad this is I'm just canceling want nothing more as of today to ever do with planet fitness

My friend went in with a genuine question, and the staff member (hair bun guy) was rude from the start giving attitude, ignoring him, and sarcastically saying “Am I working here or you?” When my friend stood up for himself, the staff member told him “You don’t need to come here.” Who is he to say that. This gym does have some pretty nice equipment to be honest but the staff is not as welcoming as they are seemed to be. Me a 15 year old girl goes in today to work out in black gym shorts and I get told by an employee that my shorts are showing too much and are showing my private parts( which they weren’t becuese my shorts go past my bottom and everything. Also my mother and father would never let me leave the house wearing anything like that so this experience just made me very uncomfortable and upset all together. Also during this I could spot 5 other different girls with shorts shorter than mine so why weren’t they also being told the same thing as me?

The trainer at the Crossgates commons is so good. Will he recommending all my clients, friends, and family to train with Jamil. However, I’m training to get ready for The Army National Guard. He’s been nothing but like a brother I needed to push me where I need to be physically. He’s highly trained and professional.

I have him as one of my recommendations for my brides and their wedding party to get wedding ready with him, that live close to Albany.

Honestly, used to frown upon planet fitness, but I love it! Won’t ever change! The Albany Planet Fitness is the spot to go! Check out the new features and spa they added for the black card members. It’s worth it!

I recently moved to Albany from Rhode Island and went to cancel my Planet Fitness membership. I am a black card Member. Two staff members laughed at me and told me to go back to Rhode Island to cancel since that was my home branch. When I asked for the manager, they pointed to someone who turned out to be the assistant manager. He was okay, but the other two were rude and completely unprofessional. And Assistant manager did not asked them to keep quiet. Not what I expected from Planet Fitness. Glad I canceled my membership.

I used to be a member of this Planet Fitness location. After I graduated high school, I left the area, and I recently moved back. It’s honestly surprising how much has changed.

When I first joined, this gym had a great setup. It took over part of what used to be Jeepers! Food Fun And a Monkey, which I remember from growing up. Over time, other businesses like Hump and Jump,Tuesday Morning and the Ninja Lab moved into that space too, but they never interfered with the size of the gym.

Now, part of the gym has been taken over by what looks like a hot tub manufacturer or showroom, and it’s made a big difference—not in a good way. The gym feels smaller. The haircut station is gone, the Black Card Spa and locker rooms are reduced, and the 30-minute circuit is completely removed.

That circuit was my main workout, so now I’m awkwardly walking around trying to recreate it, going from one machine to another and getting strange looks. It’s not smooth or convenient at all.

To top it off, the energy just feels different. The staff used to be more engaged and welcoming. Now, it feels like they don’t really care.

The basics are still here, but the overall vibe and setup just aren’t what they used to be

Terrible experience at this Planet Fitness location. The manager, who claimed he is, was rude and unprofessional. I showed my ID and pulled up my active membership details on my phone, but he didn’t care at all. He treated me like I was trying to sneak in or scam the system, even though I was clearly a paying member. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, he told me to call my home club myself to confirm it with him — something he easily could’ve done if he actually wanted to help. The attitude was completely unnecessary, and I left feeling disrespected and humiliated. I’ll never step foot in this place again. Will cancel my membership and go somewhere else.

I’ve been a member of this gym for a while now, and it’s been a consistently positive experience. The facility is well-maintained, and the equipment is always in good condition. One of the highlights of my visits is interacting with Victor at the front desk. He’s incredibly friendly, professional, and always makes everyone feel welcome. His positive energy sets the tone for a great workout every time. One suggestion I’d like to offer is to consider adding an air fan to the back section of the gym. That area tends to get warm and stuffy, especially during peak hours, and improved air circulation would make a big difference in comfort for everyone working out there

Could you please fix the water fountain’s water pressure? More than a week and still no fix? There is barely any water coming out.
The fix is simple, 4 screws on the panel and then a flat head to adjust the water pressure. A simple google search can show the process.
The gym is small compared to latham. Skip this place and just travel extra for better experience.

The SMALLEST location I’ve ever been to with the WORST lay out imaginable. Dust bunnies everywhere the size of small ground hogs. Icing on the cake is that now there is no water pressure at the fountain, and since they won’t comp you a water, you now have to risk passing out due to dehydration. I don’t live far from the Albany location but I’m contemplating the drive to the Latham location instead because this place keeps getting worse and worse.

Absolute Nightmare! Planet Fitness? More like Planet Fraudness! This Albany location is a cesspool of incompetence and deceit. Their $20 “late fee” scam is nothing short of daylight robbery. Twice they’ve falsely claimed my bank account was a bad account and invalid, despite successfully charging it before. Even with a backup credit card on file, they still slapped me with late fees. It’s clear their billing system is as functional as their staff’s customer service skills – which is to say, not at all.
Speaking of staff, calling them “unprofessional” would be a compliment. They’re a bunch of clueless kids who turn hostile the moment you question their shady practices. I’ve seen more maturity in a kindergarten sandbox.
While I appreciate the gym’s convenient location and will continue my membership for now, I may explore Vent Fitness as an alternative in the future. I sincerely hope management takes steps to improve their billing practices and staff training. A more responsive and understanding approach to member issues would go a long way in enhancing the overall experience at this Planet Fitness location.

How about sending a message to members letting them know when renovations are going on so they don’t drive all the way to the gym to be turned away at 11am on a Thursday? I was told by a guy in the lot that the gym would be open this evening by 5pm. I went at 5:45 and it’s closed. Seriously annoying. That’s two worthless trips to my gym that’s 5 miles away. The gym is usually super crowded, people at the smith machines are usually doing everything except working out. I stop going for a while cause I constantly had to wait for a smith machine for over 30min. While the people that were using them at the time were taking a photo session. Gary one of the staff members is super friendly and always available to offer help and make the experience of going to the gym pleasant. I won’t say is a bad gym but it could be better. I’ve read other reviews and I definitely agreed on making a must the use of deodorant and having good hygiene in order to go in since I can barely breath because of the awful odor. There’s a lack of equipment as well, too many people for the size of the gym.

I will suggest to be careful with this gym billing fraud. I was charged $20 late fees claiming my bank account was invalid and my debit card number was incorrect too. Frist representative told me that they never charged me anything before. I remind him that they did charged me 9.26 for start up fee. Later, I spoke with supervisor from planet fitness and tried to explained him that how come they charged me starting fee using the same payment method and now they are saying, both of my payment menthods are not working. It is so fishy. He told me its my bank's fault and my bank is denying both payment methods. I called my bank and they stated, they didnt declined any payments request and Planet fitness did use same debit card before when I signed up with them. Supervisor name John was so rude from Planet fitness and was so unprofessional.
I will go back with Vent fitness, I was with them for couple of years, but we moved and gym was kind of far from us.

When i first came here their was hot water in ladies locker room in the showers and the sinks but then 2 weeks ago their was no hot water in the showers and the sinks.Also 4 four showers and only two of them work and that has been going on since April I talked to the manager she said that she would let them know so this past week it was lukewarm. This Planet Fitness is crying for some TLC. Several things were under repair. The woman’s lockers room was dirty and one shower was out of order while only one of the remaining two was clean enough to enter. The shower stalls are so cramped that it was a constant juggling act to keep belongings from getting wet/damp. The heavy duty hook was helpful but one hook for everything in a small space is not enough. A separate shower changing room space would be helpful. 😊

After around 4 years of membership, I cancelled and it was entirely because of the teenage Hispanic manager that has poor communication skills and a bad attitude problem. Out of the dozens and dozens of people, he seemed to always target me whenever I went in, being bias and openly hostile. After moving between states, I was struggling to transfer my membership to an Albany area location. My previous home gym entered my info incorrectly, so it was difficult to find my account. I went to two different locations and spoke to 3 managers about transferring my membership to Albany but was told to do so online. Because my info wasn't entered correctly, I was unable to do so and left very frustrated and annoyed by the lack of help from managers.

Yesterday, I stopped in the Albany location to try again. LUCKILY, Assistant Manager, Gary, came to the rescue! He called around to a couple different locations my home gym was located in to get my membership transferred. He then updated all my info in the system so it was correct. He also helped me get set up on the app so I could swipe in with ease moving forward.

THANK YOU GARY! This process was long and annoying but Gary fixed everything. I'm happy to now be able to work out regularly in Albany.

Corporate emailed me saying I wouldn’t be charged during the pandemic until I returned to the gym. Pandemic slowed down and they started charging me again with no warning. The gum provides cleaning stations to disinfect equipment before and after use, and most patrons seem to do that. Wide range of equipment, and they stay true to the no judgement, no criticism policy. I like their app for hands free check in. All in all, a good place regardless of your level.
Edit: It's been a year since I left the above review, and I'm still a member, and still enjoy working out at this Planet Fitness. However, I've noticed that the staff's attention to details has gone downhill over the last year. Garbage is left to overflow in the men's bathroom. Paper towels are often depleted at cleaning stations. Hand sanitizer is often missing from the dispensers, especially the men's locker room where the sanitizer dispenser is empty about half the time. I understand staffing shortages in the Omicron Era, and I understand that if there is only one staff member of each gender, and their services are needed at the desk, it may take them a while to attend to an issue in a particular bathroom or locker room. As I stated, I still enjoy working out here, but would appreciate just a little more attention to these issues. All that being said, I find the staff to be very friendly, always greeting me and saying goodbye.

Edit, October 2023: I have fully transitioned and no longer use the men's locker room, and they recently closed for a few weeks and upgraded the club. It's much cleaner. The spray disinfectant bottles and paper towels are regularly in working order and are kept replenished. The women's locker room is much cleaner than the men's, just because that's the way it usually is. Equipment seems to be kept in working and usable order. In general I would say there has been an overall improvement.

Sent 2 certified mails to cancel the membership, but they keep on charging me everymonth, they made the cancellation really hard for the people who moved out of state, if someone is moving out of the home location please cancel the membership before moving. They made the cancellation process hard.

no A/C, and not much to move the air around in a crowded, centrally located city gym on a hot day .... really? like, i understand this is a first world problem, but it was absolutely awful in the place. fix the HVAC or invest in some floor fans ... not an unreasonable request.
didn't see a water fountain.
layout of machines is weird. circuit area is an absolute waste of space.
and most importantly (and i will put this nicely), your lazy, condescending staff could use a LOT of training in common sense, critical thinking/problem solving, and how to interact with people, especially when it comes to unintrusive, non-disruptive and legitimate special needs of gym members.
long story short, one of your employees created an issue where there was none, and almost made it 10 times worse with their approach.
the funny thing was that more serious and distracting issues were completely ignored.
i will leave it at that.
fix the nonsense.

The solitude and knowing you can be who you are and going just focused on yourself. The gym is clean, the staff is attentive and the best part is the fact it's like a hidden gem. The equipment I prefer is usually always open whether the elliptical or stationary bikes, and with a set of earphones in you enter your own world and block out everything else.

I signed up for a membership about three weeks ago. I come back a week later and the gym is closed for 1.5 weeks. Why was I not informed when I signed up that the gym would be closing??
The only notice that the gym would be closed was outside on a poster, we were not informed at all.
Then I come back the day after they said it would be open again, and it is once again closed.
The gym is a good, but I feel like I am wasting my money. Extremely disappointed.

Good equipment wise. However, compared to other PF clubs, the hvac is below par. The club is not cool enough. Very difficult during the summer months. Also, there is no water fountain which is surprising. Switched to this club for a change, now waiting for the 90 day window to be over, planning go back to old club immediately.

Terrible experience at this location. I tried to cancel my gym membership, but the manager made it impossible to do so despite me canceling on time. I canceled via email, but was instructed to come in person ONLY for that same manager to tell me that my cancellation is “pending” and I would still be charged. I do not recommend planet fitness. I wish I didn’t have to rate them at all.

I love Planet Fitness. It's only $9.99 a month in my area. The YMCA costs $50 per person per month. There are 3 of us in my family and we live in a high cost of living area. If you wait to grab a deal you can pay only $1 to start a membership. Watch out for the annual fees though. Planet Fitness is a place where there's diversity, there's no banging weights or growling. I love the ascent trainer and rowing machine. I like the environment. Everything is cleaned often and you can wipe equipment down with sanitizer before and after using. The women's locker room is great. No scale but they do have a few showers. I bring my own lock and never leave it locked on a locker where I leave. There aren't many outlets for charging your phone so come charged up. The amenities here are by membership type and includes tanning, chair massage, jair services (I think), personal trainer and some classes There's a cardio area with every kind of cardio machine, a weight lifting area, a bench weights area, a 30 minute workout area with a 30 min. timer, weight lifting machines all over, and a separate area for stretching and calisthenics that I think is the personal trainer area sometimes. Staff are friendly, helpful and caring. There's a cooler full of water and energy drinks and even some light snacks. There is a first aid kit that staff keep and a lost and found. My favorite feature by far is the app where you can keep track of exercise you do and it shows you calories burned. You check in with the app, and log your workouts and it keeps track of all your workouts and even gives you simple reports. I liked the app because it also let me keep track of what weight/lbs I had set on each machine so I can decide when I was ready to go up in weight. I loved Planet Fitness! I just don't have a way to get there anymore. Otherwise I'd go 3x a week.

I’d been a member for years and enjoyed the perks of the Black Card, but they have been slowly taking away the benefits that made the membership worth the cost for me. Just this month they got rid of the free haircuts (although their website says they still offer them - they do not!). I’ve heard from others that they also got rid of spray tanning at the Troy location, so they all must be reducing the benefits. So today I cancelled my membership and am going to another gym that offers unlimited spin and fitness classes for roughly the same price. I’d come back if they resumed the services they have gotten rid of!

I currently moved to Albany, and it was my first time to visit Planet Fitness asking about the plans and to see if im gonna subscribe for a specific membership or not. The front desk lady didn’t offer to walk me through the gym, she was very rude, i asked to workout today to check the gym facilities and pay next time she refused, i told her that supposedly first session for free she said NO. There was very bad customer service and it was very bad experience that i cant recommend to anyone. Terrible place. Unhelpful management.

4/16 - Updating my post. I was contacted by Planet Fitness. They continue to talk in circles and charge me money even though my year long commitment already ended in March. They state I should have submitted a form to end my membership. I was never given a form to fill out even though I spoke with their staff several times about how to end my membership. I have now sent them a certified letter because it is all important they have my "signature" to end my membership. I SIGNED A YEAR LONG CONTRACT. A YEAR IS A YEAR. THE YEAR IS OVER. STOP STEALING MONEY FROM PEOPLE.

Planet Fitness is another scam gym. I signed a year long contract. I spoke with about 6 managers about ending my membership when I moved to another the state, and I was told that when my contract was over my membership ended. I asked him to confirm this with his manager and he said that he did. Of course that was not the case. They charged me $39 for another year. THEY ARE CHEATING LIARS. And they had the gall to tell me I was confused. And the conversation I had with the manager never happened. Adding insult to injury. STAY AWAY FROM PLANET FITNESS IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR MONEY AND PRECIOUS TIME STOLEN from you. I have spent the entire morning arguing with their front desk people who change their story every time you speak with them.
