The staff will randomly close down HOURS ahead of time whenever they feel like it. You can be in the middle of a workout and next thing you know, someone is tapping on your shoulder. For example, today, you're open until 11pm...at least that's what I thought. It's now 6 and your staff has already booted everyone and turned away everyone else showing up. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME. I would not recommend this gym. I am currently looking into alternatives.

I’ve been to a lot of gyms in my life, but I have never experienced anything this dangerous. Today I passed out in the locker room from the extreme heat and lack of ventilation. I had to be taken to the ER for evaluation. The air here is hot, heavy, and completely stagnant you can feel it the moment you walk in. Members have been complaining for years, and the manager, Adriana, just blames the HVAC and does nothing. This is a serious health hazard. If I had been alone, this could have ended much worse. This location has been a big letdown. A lot of the equipment feels outdated, several treadmills are out of order, and they’re rarely clean. Worst of all, the air conditioning doesn’t work. How do you run a gym without proper ventilation or cooling? It’s constantly crowded, so it’s hard to believe they can’t invest in fixing the HVAC system. The staff is friendly but clearly frustrated too. They’ve even said they’ve suggested to the owner multiple times to replace the AC after numerous failed repairs. At this point, it’s just unbearable.

Updating my review to say that I just officially waited over 40minutes to bench press on a smith machine but I finally gave up. Ive spoken to management and staff about this issue of people camping out or on a queue system with their friends in the smithmachines and I have never see any monitoring of the ridiculous conduct happening here. The new freeweights will not be a solution if the gym culture here is that people are allowed to be on their phones and do workouts where they rest for ten minutes while holding on to the machine.Zero monitoring of the Express workout area. People camping out for extended periods of time at the same machine. This gym is mostly just run by the members themselves who for the most part pick up after themselves and clean equipment after use. Zero administrative presence what so ever.

Been coming here for years and I’m finally speaking up. I understand planet fitness is inexpensive but that shouldn’t mean we get less than the bare minimum. Machines are ALWAYS broken. There are only 4 stair masters and 1 or 2 are constantly broken. A lot of the treadmills are broken too, and I notice it’s always the same ones, particularly the ones in the back row. I notice they took away some of the paper towel dispensers, so now we have to walk far from our machine to get it, and guess what… a lot of the time it’s empty. Sorry but if you think I’m gonna walk around the whole gym looking for paper towel to clean my machine, I’m not. The water fountains often break as well. And the bulbs in the tanning bed are always out.
It’s a shame. What will it take for them to actually care and fix this gym?

Terrible for the whole month of March. Let me list the highlights of the month:
- Terrible attitude from the manager, Adrianna. Whether you tell her anything or not, it wont make a difference. Its like there is no manager.
- A hydro-bed that doesn't work for over a month.
- About a week with no paper-towels. Try doing cardio and not having anything to clean the equipment, let alone yourself or from the sweaty person that used the equipment before you.
- Water fountain on the upper floor with missing water push-switches for about a week. No water available. Bring your own, or go 2 floors down to hydrate yourself.
- A stock pile of complain forms. Apparently a lot of members file complains.
- Basement water fountain missing also the push switches. Barely working.
- Unbearable bad quality air when it is overcrowded on the top floor. No air ventilation. They have some cheap 99cent store fans, but no HVAC air recycle. They keep the entrance door open to air out in 2025.
- Walls with pealed of paint.
- Lockers with broken doors.
- Did I mention that the manager seems to not do much?
- The list goes on. I reported higher up, but still things don't move to the right directions.
- The massage chairs are outdated, and are barely working.
Visit it, and then go visit another location like in Corona. LIC Queensboro or Manhattan and see for yourself.

The one good thing is, most of the STAFF is friendly, and apologize for the situation. On the other hand the manager "Adrianna", will just listen with apathy and do nothing.

I wouldn't recommend going to this Planet Fitness or any other until they get their act together.

The first thing that bothers me is that they ask for a routing number when you sign up. Really inconvenient and unnecessary. Very creepy. All they need is a card on file. And if the payment doesn't go through they could just not let you in. So why the routing number?

I think it's because part of their business model includes not canceling your membership when you cancel it. I was still charged for two months after I quit.

Supposedly the manager finally canceled my membership, i won't know until I check my bank account at the end of the month. We'll see.

But it took multiple trips to the planet fitness, where the employees didn't know how to cancel my membership for real, even though one told me he did it.

When you call them on the phone they say they can't do it over the phone or by email. Well they can't do it in person either. Haha. That's the scam.

And it is just that. A scam. Because if the manager isn't just messing with me and she did in fact cancel my membership ... it was done over email.

Just stay away from this place. It's not worth it.

I’ve been a member of this gym for a while now, and while there have been some improvements, they feel minimal. A few new machines have been added, which is nice, but overall, not much has changed to enhance the experience. The treadmills, unfortunately, remain a major concern—some of them are still unsafe and need immediate attention. Really unsafe! It’s frustrating when equipment that should be a staple of any gym is either broken or unreliable.

Additionally, there’s a lot of unused equipment taking up space that could be replaced with more popular, in-demand machines or free weights that members actually use.

I honestly think the franchise owners need to get more involved. It might even be worth contacting corporate to let them know about the ongoing issues. Right now, it’s just not up to par. FEELS like 1980's no name town gym. If COORPORATES DOESNT STEPIN. THEN WE ALL GOING TO ANOTHER GYM!

1ST REVIEW: This gym has a lot of potential but falls short in a few key areas. The machines (some broken)are functional but fairly outdated, with some showing signs of wear and tear.

Treadmills are dangerous because they shake when you run or walk on them. VERY OLD place panel plank- the wood underneath them are all cracked and broken and causing unbalance.

The layout feels old, making it difficult to move between equipment during peak hours. The design is stuck in the past, lacking the modern, clean aesthetic and easy walk through- it seems like they just put everything in a basic "LINE" just to say they have it.

Missing a lot other PF gyms have- basic foam rollers that aren't 10 years old. (its $5 dollars -get some), stretch bands, stability balls. - more mirrors are needed- not just on 1 wall on each FL.

(Elevator always an issue. Kids and people with Flipflops and Crocs and working out with Pajama Pants. Missing Proper attire.
Massage chairs and amenities are an issue. Broken and outdated.)

It's not a bad option if you've got no standards or expectation as a customer, but those who value a more updated, spacious environment might want to look elsewhere. We should be getting at least the basics for $30-35. This place is below basics now.

Love coming here every morning. I am sad to write this review because I love planet fitness and the staff at this location (Astoria/ Steinway) are incredibly friendly and helpful! However it has gone very downhill recently… Atleast half of the treadmills and ellipticals are always broken, and don’t seem to ever be getting fixed? It’s so disheartening and you almost have to fight for a machine or wait around for one that’s working. I think some of these would be quick fixes, so why is it taking months? This Astoria location needs attention! Take a look at these photos I’ve attached.. This is really kind of pathetic. :(

Very poor hygiene! Massage chairs and equipment old. Broken hand sanitizer bottles. No liquid in the spray bottles. Water fountains have mold and slime on them. TERRIBLE!

Planet fitness is great! As a NYC yellow taxi driver the planet fitness sign was always a welcome sight.i highly recommend the black card membership.its well worth it.great gym no two ways about it.
