I do not recommend visiting this Planet Fitness location. Unfortunately my experience here left a very negative impression of the franchise as a whole. The environment felt unprofessional and poorly managed. The manager shiva along with staff member Miranda (please bury in mind that I don’t know if this is the employee right name) because they give you the wrong name. instead handled my concerns in a way that came across as confrontational, irrational, and dismissive.

When I tried to address the issue insisted that Miranda (this might not be her right name) is not an aggressive person however, people can behave differently in different situations and that possibility was not considered. It was clear that management was more interested in defending staff than listening to the customer which is disappointing given that customers are the ones supporting the business.

I also felt it necessary to explain to shiva that I am a well-educated professional with no reason to cause conflict or act maliciously. My only goal was to have a respectful and fair resolution which unfortunately did not happen here.

Went to the Ronkonkoma Long Island location and all of the showers were taped off so they could not be used
After working in the hot sun and coming in to shower before working out, I was not happy to see this
As a black card member this is very annoying
Had to travel another 30 minutes to another location to use the showers there.
This is NOT the first time this has happened but the first time voicing my displeasure at PF for their lax standards seeing this is an ongoing problem at other PF locations also.
We pay to be a black card member for this?
No compensation to make it right?

This is the only Planet fitness out of the several I’ve been to on Long Island that NEVER has cleaning stations stocked. No matter the time or day I come here, there’s never a time where the cleaning stations are stocked. It’s gross it’s extremely annoying having to go across the gym just for paper towels or choose to leave the machine covered in sweat. Tell the employees to do their 1 job.

I had a great experience at planet fitness! The check-in process was very easy using the PF App. The crowd meter on the App was very accurate as I wanted to work out during the time when the gym was not too crowded. The machines were clean. The environment was quiet And facilitated a peaceful workout.

I always loved coming here and staff is friendly but every-time I went in this week a person was right at the entrance inside the gym soliciting donations. The 1 staff member that I found working at the desk was friendly and helpful. I did not find any staff members anywhere else and had to go back to the girl at the desk twice with questions about their equipment specifications. It would be nice if there were staff members circulating the workout areas.

I gave Planet Fitness a 0 out of 10 because of the complete lack of understanding and empathy regarding my situation. Since August, I have been recovering from surgery due to a car accident, leaving me in a sling for months. I couldn’t sleep properly, shower, or even lay down—I could only sit up. My entire world was turned upside down, and the last thing on my mind was canceling or suspending a gym membership.

I spoke with Front Desk Member Kay and Manager Ryan, but unfortunately, there was no flexibility or consideration given to my situation. Does the agreement require prior notification? Maybe. Most likely, it does. But in the event of a serious medical situation, that shouldn’t be the defining factor. This is about principle—about having basic human decency and recognizing that sometimes life’s circumstances don’t allow people to follow policies to the letter.

I work for a company with rules too, but we make reasonable exceptions when we recognize that someone’s circumstances prevented them from handling things “by the book.” That’s called having empathy and considering things from another person’s perspective—something Planet Fitness failed to do.

If this is the hill Planet Fitness wants to die on, so be it. But I will be canceling my membership before the 10th. Taking someone’s money when they were medically unable to use the gym isn’t just bad business—it’s unethical, unfair, and frankly, low.

I have recently used the club on a sat and a sunday. Both times the showers had no hot water. Since the club was remoddled the hot water has been a problem. I suspect they are turning it off on the nights the club is closed. The replies to others post to seek out a manager suposedly coming from the owner is unacceptable. The owner is the manager and should address concerns directly. I have been to another club that has the same layout and same shower problem. I would say the engineer or contractor is to blame.

Freezing cold shower... not just cold, not just not warm, freezing cold, like dangerous to shower in cold. And no one cares. Filed a complaint on the app, someone got back to me told me it would be resolved by the end of about 2 months ago. Literally unusable. Is this like funny to them or something... also occasionally gets scalding hot when the toilets are flushed. Surprised no one has been burned and sued yet. Or maybe they have, and still no one cares. I took a star away for something that isn't even the locations fault but it still makes my experience less enjoyable so I have no choice. It would be five stars if so many ppl didn't take their time using machines while scrolling through social media and videos. Again, it probably isn't the gym's fault but I wish they would enforce there rule of ppl being mindful of the time they spend on machines when the gym is packed. I end up spending 2x or 3x the amount of time I want to/need to due to ppl just hanging out on machines while ppl like me are standing around waiting

The guy who is hosting when I go there every day for the last semester is very nice! He needs a raise! He told me how to use a machine when I needed it and was concerned when I got hurt. He deserves 5 stars.

However, the facilities need maintenance! I would give 0 stars if I could to the management of the building. On Friday 12/6/24 I fell right outside the door. There wasn’t a sign of slippery ice and I fell really bad. I missed work that day. It was about 7am. Also, yesterday 12/09/24 I needed to use the ladies restroom for the first time, and it was disgusting. It was so dirty. I bet the poop was there for days! I actually went in there today again and it is still there. I usually get there about 5:40-5:50 and leave at 6:40-7am. The second shift hosts are not as friendly as the first guy. Today I went outside and there is a bunch of water and no sign. Just waiting for the freezing temperatures to get it ice and someone else to fall.

I've been going to Planet Fitness Bay Shore for a while now, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and inclusive – they truly live up to their “Judgment Free Zone” philosophy. No matter what your fitness level, everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace, which makes it a comfortable place to work out.

The equipment is always clean and well-maintained, and there’s a wide variety to choose from, whether you're focused on cardio or strength training. I also love that they are open 24h/4 days out of the week, so I can fit workouts into my schedule whenever it’s convenient for me.

The free fitness training sessions are fantastic too, especially if you're just starting out or need a little guidance with your workout plan. And the amenities available with the Black Card membership are a great bonus – I especially enjoy the HydroMassage beds after a long workout.

Planet Fitness provides everything I need without any intimidation or high costs. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for an affordable, friendly staffed gym that really supports your fitness journey!

I continue to come to this Gym out of convenience with that being said this place hasn’t improved in cleanliness even after letting the staff now, so it’s been 3 days and in the locker room floor there is underwear that nobody has moved and that means the floors doesn’t get clean properly and who knows what else! I already avoid using the restroom here now I’m thinking of avoiding the locker room too……….I tend to go workout after work and during the winter gets darker earlier and this parking lot it’s not properly lit I wish they would something about this, the location is average needs a little more cleanliness throughout

I am a Pilates instructor as well. Yet, I was never able to give up my Planet Fitness gym membership. The staff at the Bayshore New York location are absolutely fabulous. The facility itself is clean and efficient. The equipment is working and they update frequently. The location itself is great
