This gym has many employees but yet some tend to just hang out near the front desk. Even the new manager. She sometimes walks the floor but doesn't clean nor checks the paper towel dispensers. I saw the gym associate just step over a caution sign that was lying on the floor in which I picked up. I see members with bags on the floor, video taping with a stand and working out with crocs or slippers. Corporate needs to come out and check on their investment. For a gym recently renovated, there is alot of broken equipment.

The Planet Finess on Gunhill Rd brought in new equipment in the summer; HOWEVER , THEIR old equipment has broken increment dials on many machines. I reported this twice and I received phone calls stating thx for letting them know. This was in July! Nothing has been fixed. These machines have been broken since May.

Worst planet fitness I’ve ever been to. The staff and members never put weights back where they belong. Dumbbells are scattered everywhere no matter what time I go there. Plates are never organized. It’s a huge facility and I spend half my workout moving or looking for weights. When I asked staff to address the issue they did not care.

UPDATED REVIEW:
I frequent this location because it has ample parking and *WAS user friendly.

They reorganized the stationary bikes, elliptical and other equipment.

They removed over 1/2 of the bikes and left a lot of unused, dead space!!
The bikes are ALWAYS in use and I can almost never get one currently.

Who's brilliant idea was this??

Terrible layout currently.

Regarding Unfair Treatment at Planet Fitness

Dear Planet Fitness Management,

I am writing to formally express my concern and disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at your facility. On [insert date], my wife was denied access to use the massage chair machine by one of your representatives.

We believe this treatment was unfair and disrespectful. As paying members, we expect equal access to the amenities included in our membership. My wife felt embarrassed and discriminated against by being denied the right to use equipment that is available to all members.

I respectfully request that you investigate this matter, provide clarification as to why she was denied access, and take corrective measures to ensure this does not happen again to her or to any other member.

We value the services of Planet Fitness, but experiences like this make us reconsider our membership. I hope to receive a prompt response and resolution to this complaint.

Brand new machines. All reviews regarding old broken machines are now irrelevant. Upgraded cardio. New strength plated equipment. Glad I signed up for planet fitness again. Don’t sleep on them! They recently remodeled the floor of the gym and while it does look nice, there is a lot less equipment. It was not very busy at the gym but many people had to wait to use equipment, which is something I haven’t experienced since I started going here. Gym is very clean, staff is okay.

This gym is really good for the value. I love the machines that count for you. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but not all make you feel welcome. Eye rolling and sarcasm is not necessary when they advertise a "judge free zone". They have paper rolls and water solutions available for usage but the solutions are very watered down. Bring your own wipes or alcohol spray. This place has never been overcrowded or loud. Very good ambience for exercising. Also, ventilation is good but a little air freshener could be helpful. I highly recommend this PF facility. I always feel comfortable coming to this facility. The manager does an excellent job in maintaining calm and peace amongst the staff. I asked one staff member about abdominal machines and he just wave me off and told me to use Eclipical (?) machines. Management wasn't there that day. I remembered when staff would walk around asking if anyone needed assistance with the machines...ah well.

I want to start off by saying that I never wrote reviews! I am thoroughly impressed with the management of this gym. I’ve been coming here for 3.5 years and can say what a relief it has been to have the level of management this gym has. This is not your typical PF. They recently upgraded and even saying upgrade is an understatement. They have free weight Racks!!! Thank you to the owner, thank you to the manager Sam, your work does not go unnoticed! I’m so impressed. Now I come into this gym ecstatic like a little kid getting a new toy. I highly recommend this PF, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve worked out in alot of planet fitness/la fitness/NYSC/through out the city and across the US from the hood to affluent locations and was never asked to put my book bag away with experience gear in an unsecured locker.

Guy at the front named Sam is disrespectful. I have never encountered anyone like him. I have had black card for years and I have been so many planet fitness locations but have never had such bad experience. Planet Fitness at this location on Gun Hill Road is excellent. It is large and has all of the machines and station that I needed. The bathrooms for men and women separately are very clean. I do not remember the lockers as I never needed one. The people at gym were very respectful as we all had the same goals. Also, parking is triple gold. Thank you!

The staff is great. The lockers suck. Over 50% of them won't lock, so if the few you know do lock are in use, you have to search through them to find a good one. The fix is simple, but apparently the owner of this gym doesn't care. All it will take is someone with a cordless drill to loosen up the two screws on the L shaped piece of metal on the left side of each locker, move it into position and retighten the screws. After all the time the lockers have been there, there is no excuse. Note: the original fault lies with whoever installed the locking mechanism. When this club did a refurb they put in the lockers first with no hardware, and then followed up with the hardware. Whoever installed the hardware in the lockers didn't care about the quality of their work.

I will never sign up or pay for any gym without a one day trial pass. Just called and they said they don’t offer those at this location. I hope this isn’t true because I have never seen any gym that doesn’t offer a trial. Even Equinox or NYSC or Blink even will let you have a 1 day trial to decide whether you want to join the club location! Go to LA Fitness close by instead, they will let you trial and they are extremely professional

Reply to manager: From what your employee said it is a $20 day pass and if I paid for it that doesn’t go toward the possible dues/fees IF I sign up for membership. This is a bad deal. How would
I know if I want to be a member if I can’t have a free trial or at the minimum the day rate payment toward dues? If the exchange is dishonest from the start, there is zero incentive to reward a business lacking transparency with my money.

Although I'm scared to try using it. The only thing they need is the pec deck that works for the rear shoulders, there's you can only sit forward. The gym is pretty big with over a hundred exercise machines alone.

I've gone to this gym for over 10 years and I'm throughly disappointed in its current business practices and inherent management and staff. It used to be a 24 hour gym and that was watered down to no days out of the week now. Half the cardio machines are in disrepair, the lockers in the locker room broken or barely usable and they have the audacity to turn around and exponentially raise prices with no benefits. I've been grandparented the $99 annual fee since I signed up. My contract ended on June 27th and the very next day the app said I wasn't even in the system. When speaking to the manager on site, he told me once your contract is up you're basically a new client to them with no compassion for previous patronage of their business for however long. I said ok, so how much thinking maybe $150 or $180... For the classic, the annual fee is $280. $15 a month times 12 months is $180. To which he replied then you have to add a pro rated fee and sign up fee. Nothing is waived or could possibly be waived. I just said ok and left and they'll never regain my business with that model. I took a 3 minute drive to XSport at Bay Plaza Mall, which I heard ppl were switching to years ago but I stayed loyal to planet fitness and after touring their gym signed right up. I was impressed by their pool, basketball courts, workout equipment, group classes and self spa rooms. What sold me without a doubt is that they are open 24/7/365! I ended paying $479 for 2 years which works out to $20 a month and I have all the benefits of the "so called Black Card". Planet fitness did me a favor forcing me outside because they have nothing to offer than a poorly managed establishment where you have to search for paper to clean your equipment and you're useless to them unless you're staying at home and sending money without utilizing your membership. Long story short, I kno after all of that, don't bother wasting your time or money there and check out the XSport gym. I'm not being paid to say this, nor am getting credit for anyone signing up but if you've read this review you care for an honest shot to get healthy and in shape at a quality gym that cares for its customers with benefits that match your hard earned money.
