I go to one club, Commack NY, and I like it very much.
All equipment looks new and working, there are at least 2 of each weight machines or stations, so you do not have to wait in line. If you just need to do your weight training routine, you will be pleased. Stuff is polite. And of course the price is incredible! Highly recommend.

I'm a fairly new member at Planet Fitness. This is the second location I've been to and this location is excellent. It's clean, well lit, the music isn't blasting, I didn'tcome across anything that was broken (these were issues at the first location I went to). The bathrooms, locker room, showers, are clean and overall very good. Saw a review about the hot water-- it took a couple of minutes but I just waited, figured it had to get from the hot water tank to the spigot. It was hot enough and I took a long shower with no issues. Staff was attentive to clientele and polite. I had a couple of questions and Staff member Frank answered all my questions politely and knowledgeably.

If only they maintained the dilapidated treadmills, I'd give them 5 stars. Most seem to be falling apart. Seems like haven't touched them since they opened a few years ago. Broken buttons, especially the speed + and - buttons that could be a safety hazard if looking to quickly decrease speed and you didn't realize the buttons don't work, and then having to figure out what to do when you really don't need the emergency stop lever. Glaring liability issue for them. I guess you get what you pay for with PF.

First time to this location, and my workout buddy and I were super impressed. Very clean and organized, with TONS of each kind of machine so no waiting or not being able to get machines next to each other. Very generous with the air conditioning - if anything, it was even a little bit chilly in there. Most of the other locations I've been to are very warm and uncomfy in the summer months. Only one out of three sinks working in the women's room, so that should certainly be addressed sooner than later. But overall, a great gym to which we will now be returning weekly.

They do not clean the bathrooms/showers/changing rooms at all. I’ve been there consecutive days in the changing rooms/showers and the same dirtiness/garbage on the floors in the changing rooms is still there from the previous day. I overheard a staff member say to another staff member that she does the “bare minimum” when it comes to cleaning the showers/bathrooms because she can’t believe they’re responsible for cleaning up after people. The changing rooms and showers can get disgusting and they do not care to keep up the cleanliness.

I think this is a great gym. Very comfortable to come to as a beginner. My only issue is the equipment, I see rows and rows of unused cardio equipment but there is never a free bench. Could also use additional cable machines, and chest fly/pec deck machines. Overall I am happy but would consider switching to a gym that had a smaller cardio section.

This gym has so much potential. Here are the problems:

Kids on equipment on phones NOT working out. This is frustrating to say the least. Staff watching would be of much assistance with this.

Staff not keeping an eye on what’s going on or interacting with members. Staff very rarely leaves the desk area. If they did, a lot of problems would be fixed.

Machines are never wiped down after use. Staff watching would be of much assistance with this.

You will never have a wait to use a piece of cardio equipment here.

You will have to wait for endless people to play on their phones until you get to use any weights machines.

This place has all the ingredients of a great gym but due to the above issues, IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR WORKOUTS, THIS GYM IS NOT FOR YOU.

Generally hot and humid inside they tend not to use air conditioning so it's uncomfortable, they often turn off the lights in the locker room 20 minutes early to force people to leave on time and leave them off, very often the dispensers with the paper towel and sanitizer are low, employees are very busy on their cell phones texting rather than maintaining the facility

Weekend staff is extremely rude. They try to close the gym before 7 o'clock closing time.
This Sunday I was at the gym at about, they closed the lights at 6:50 and the guy on duty told me that they are closed I tried to nicely tell them that it is 6:55 and we still have few minutes. He told me that they don't go by my watch they go by there watch. I told him it's still 6:55 on your watch showing him his computer.
He got really upset and literally told me to get out. I was really surprised that how could he talk to a customer like that
They don't know anything about customer service.
Machines are broken here and are kept broken for long time before they get repaired. Gym is totally in a cheap and run down condition. I only joined as it is open 24 hours and I have to work put late some time. I don't recommend any one this gym if you have anyother option

I can confirm that trainer Tile is an excellent professional, he knows how to apply his knowledge in the area in a professional manner, he teaches, motivates and guides in training in a manner appropriate to personal needs, he proposes high quality of service and knowledge of routines. Your basic workout at a cheap price. Clean and all new equipment. Just no pool and sauna or steamroom or workout classes like the expensive gyms. Planet fittness facilities are usually short on resistance equipment, but this one seems a bit worse. There are only a few sets of free weight dumbells, and a few kettlebells, just not enough. Since there is an overemphasis on cardio equipment, that takes up much of the floor, even though it rarely approches 50% usage. Meanwhile
machines & free weights have wait times.
They should add some more resistance equipment. I was there the other day, rows of cardio machines unused, while the free weight & resistance equipment have lo g weights.....way too limited

At first I thought this was a good gym.
Staff are great but there are problems with this gym that really should be addressed.
First the cardio machines. Many hand sensors are broken or just don't work.
Number 2) Broken machines. It happens but they should be repaired asap. And not enough machines for legs etc. There really should be more.
And the big stickler which causes the previous mentioned issues. KIDS.
Kids do not belong in a gym. I know parents use this gym as like a baby sitting facility as they probably can't be bothered. These kids break things and fool around and have no clue on gym etiquette.
Christmas time I saw a group of kids launching themselves like a sling shot using cable machines from the training/ warm up room(last room to the back)
I used to be a trainer a number of years ago so I know how a gym should run and I threw kids out for this kind of behavior. This causes machines to break so it's very possible that's why cardio sensors etc are broken. 18 is the minimum age to join a gym. Not 15 or 16.
Please address these issues.
The membership price is great but if this is how things will run then the price is moot at this point and not worth it. (I'm a Black card memeber.)
I had to cut my workout short tonight due to broken machines. Very inconvenient. Thank you for reading and hopefully address these issues.

Friendly staff, however Planet Fitness promotes excellent safe clean environment, come in early in the morning especially on weekends.

The gym is not well kept. The men’s bathroom is consistently filthy. No one mops the floors regularly or wipes the sinks down. Trash left on a counter Friday, can be found still either in the counter or on a bench Sunday.

Waste paper baskets are overflowing.

Members even wash their faces off in the water fountain.

This post Covid environment has decreased pride and work ethic in many employees.

The workers can often be seen in their cell phones for a majority of their shift.

I honestly don’t get the glowing reviews.
First, the good… Staff was very welcoming and polite, and my negatives have nothing to do with them. They are basically the reason why I give this location any stars.
Now, the bad… Old, decrepit, cardio equipment. The recumbent bikes were so cramped together that I had to pray no one sat next to me so I could position the seats so I had room to get put. I have the black card and bop around to various locations in Suffolk county, because I work all over. Please figure out a way to get more room between each bike. Because people don’t go to the gym to be faced with a potentially embarrassing situation of being stuck, and needing help to get out.
The showers took no less than three minutes to get any warm water. Sorry, but the owner of this location needs to sink some money in. Compared to the others, I frequent, this was a bit of a joke.

I had a great experience at the Commack facility. It was very clean and the staff was amazing. I met your upcoming new personal trainer, Tyler M. and he was super helpful. He showed me around the whole facility and gave a detailed demonstration and explanation of all of the equipment that would benefit me. I am a nurse and have had back issues for years. He was so friendly and informative; truly an asset to your company. I would be happy to have him as my personal trainer at PF!! I also want to commend Collin B. as he was very informative and helpful. He took the time to explain things to me and wrote down the names of the particular machines that I should use. My dad is 86 and he comes here a few days a week. I will encourage him to use Collin and I am so thrilled that you, FINALLY, will have a certified personal trainer. Do everything to keep this guy here!!!
