Not a bad gym. Everything is pretty clean and all but the only problem to me is the rips in 75% of the machines. Some are worse than this picture. There’s also a few broken machines that has been broken for some time now. The rips in the machines they can cause infections on wounds and or skin. It is not a safe machine to work out on if all that bacteria can get caught under the tears in the foam. Don’t want someone to sue the corporation due to this. Gotta get this fixed. If you do then it’ll be a good planet fitness.

I have tried to cancel my membership they now just charged my account $60 AFTER I already cancelled. The lady manager was not at all helpful she told me “we added a late fee on top of it” I’ve already blocked them from charging me through my bank now they found a whole different account way to charge my account. I do not want this membership and I do not want to be continued to be charged for something I don’t even use. It also should have to be this difficult to cancel something. I’m extremely pissed off and I want my money back and the account canceled.

Love this gym! Kelly is awesome and she has some really great staff who are very kind and helpful. Everytime I come in, I am greeted with a smile, and the place is always clean. This is a great location with various equipment to choose from for your workout needs. You can also go tanning, use massages beds/chairs, and have some red light therapy with a Black Card Membership! You definitely get a lot for your money at Planet Fitness!

The taller muscular black dude ruined this place for me tonight. Came in and there was a really nice younger dude with curly hair and a female who was really nice as well. Worked out then came by to tan, then used red light. No issues. I come out of red light and it’s this guy at the counter this time. I asked if I could use the massage chair and he stopped, looked at me and said “Did they already let you use the massage chair?” me: “Uh.. no.” him “oh” *proceeds to ask me for my last name then first name multiple times* *then says firmly “10 minutes!” Like who are u dude? I thought they were unlimited? Mind you not a soul was waiting on or using them. I’ll stick to Greece! 🫡

2 stars only because I liked the gym up until recently. They hired the most unprofessional, rude, mean girl type. I went to this location (I have a black card membership) after dinner to go tanning really quick and that turned into this girl shaming me. I walked in and she demanded ID which has never happened in my many years of having this membership. I said I don't bring my ID to the gym since it could get lost or stolen. She responds "You're 31 and you don't have your license?" And kept going with comments while looking at me like I was disgusting. Not sure how she got i don't have an ID from me saying I don't bring it to the gym but it prompted age shaming along with making me so uncomfortable I don't want to come back. I did report it to corporate, hoping they took the no judgement zone policy seriously, I went back a few days ago and this girl is behind the counter, not in uniform, just hanging out. She saw me and proceeded to stare me down. I am considering canceling my membership since this is the closest gym and now I have to drive further to work out or go tanning.

There is a manager here with blonde hair always up in a bun, glasses, middle aged. Have been coming there for about a year, she goes out of her way to make me feel unwelcome, talks to me like I have 4 brain cells, and to top it all off last week she demanded I had to take a picture, even though I’ve been coming there a year, I asked if we could delay she said no, when I said it would look horrible, she said “well that’s why you’re coming here right?” , this woman is rude and needs to be educated on customer service. No one is stealing my membership honey you know me, you make me feel uncomfortable 5x a week, that picture could have waited another day.

It’s a good gym from the outside looking in. Big gym, a lot of space. But as for being able to actually find a bench or be able to find a machine is basically impossible. The waiting time is redundant. You’re limited on possibilities of getting an actual work out in. It’s extremely over populated.

I have been a member at this location for close to a decade. Huge improvement has been made in the last 5 years, cleanliness is huge here, busy hours you'll find messes because people don't clean up after themselves but staff is constantly working to combat the issues. Staff is very friendly and helpful and they've built a very welcoming encouraging environment. Some equipment needs maintenance but I see them in there documenting these machines likely for repair or replacement. Everything is still useable and safe. Convenient hours and convenient location next to the highway. The amenities are always clean and functional. Great location!

Have used PF Gates for over a year.
The past few months there has been a significant decline in cleanliness.
The men's room smelled of urine for 2 weeks. I brought this to the attention of the club workers and was told it was because they had a plumbing problem. (Being a plumber myself that's no excuse or reason if it had been cleaned up properly the oder would be gone
within minutes) In the past there were employees cleaning no matter when I worked out in the past few months the gym is not clean and I rarely see anyone taking care of it.

I’ve been a member at this PF since 2010. I hate to cancel my membership because it’s a good price, but the last few times I have gone I couldn’t get there til after 3pm. The worst time to go. I kept walking around trying to find a piece of equipment to work on & they were all occupied. I saw one that had a water bottle near it & a cell phone. No one was near it so I started to work out & this guy acted like he saved it so he could go back & forth between different equipment. He got all snarky with me like it was his machine. I didn’t know we could save them by putting our phones or clothes or water bottles on equipment so we could use numerous machines at once, it just ruined my day. I just couldn’t believe that I ended my workout early because of people like that, and this isn’t the first time it has happened. I wish they would put a sign up saying that you can’t hold machines. And it doesn’t help to complain to the people working at the desk. They don’t want to involved.

Overnights shifts never clean, Paper towels always empty. That's if they even open up!! Several times I've gone during the week at 3am they are closed.
Not to mention opening at 7am on the weekend. There's usually 15+ cars waiting til whenever they feel like showing up!!

If I could share a zero I would. I purchased a membership that was to be $99 for life over a decade ago. Each year I’ve had to wait as the manager figures out how to enter it in the computer. This year the manager refused and was less than helpful. I was informed a new business bought this place and the only option was $229 per year. I foolishly paid that amount. Then did research and found out that new members pay $15 a month. $180 a year. So a loyal member who was promised $99 for life is paying more than new members. When I went back on to discuss with the manager she was sitting in a chair by the outside entrance playing on her phone and was not forthcoming on names of those making the decision. I now have to go through corporate to figure out how to make it right

Planet Fitness in Gates, NY, is a convenient location and while I should get my butt there more often, I have enough experience at this facility to write this review. My visits have been positive, thanks in large part to the wonderful staff who always welcome you when you arrive, help with any needs you may have, and are happy to answer questions.

The facility is clean and the management team clearly prioritizes hygiene, ensuring that the equipment and workout areas are consistently well-maintained. It's evident that cleanliness is not just a priority but a standard that this gym.

In addition to all the gym equipment, they offer tanning, massage chairs, and my favorite - the hydromassage! What a great way to end your workouts!

My only minor gripe pertains to the behavior of some individuals who frequent the gym. Despite the availability of cleaning supplies, some people overlook their responsibility to wipe down equipment after use. While this is not a reflection on the facility itself, it does serve as a reminder for all gym-goers to be mindful and do their part. It's gross to share your sweat and shows a general lack of respect for fellow gym members.

Planet Fitness in Gates is a great fitness center that ticks all the boxes: great location, wonderful staff, and cleanliness. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a welcoming and well-equipped place to pursue their fitness goals. In addition, do yourself a favor and get the PF Black Card. I’ve been to other locations and they’re nice but nothing beats walking in the gates location and seeing Julius there at the front desk. He makes that gym feel like a club that we’re all invited to and it makes working out there much more enjoyable. Truly a no jugement zone. I went for a 30 minute work out, though only actually worked out for 15 of those minutes as I was so winded. Certainly a testament to how out of shape I am. It's been ages since I've gone to the gym. While I felt shamed personally, no one judged me nor made me feel bad. I will eventually feel pride that I at least went and tried. Getting the Black Card was truly the best choice for me personally so I can make the use of the gym wherever I go. Clean facilities, kind staff. I had a great first experience here.

I have been going to Plant Fitness from about a year after they opened. I've seen a lot of different faces come and go over the years. It's always been a comfortable place to go and hang out. The staff is friendly and helpful. I usually do my own thing but there is a great trainer there in case I have any questions. The facility is well lighted and warm in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. It's clean and the machines are in good working order. It's rare that you ever hear the "lunk alarm". It's especially fun to talk with other members and make new friends!

I work out at the Gates-chili location Monday- Friday. Great place to work out! If a piece of equipment goes down they fix it right away. I did try the massage chair for the first time this week. They put it on for 15 min. Omg if you haven't tried it yet, do so!! It was great!! I have one small critique, I wish they would turn the music up! Please.. I workout with a partner, so I personally do not wear a headset.

As someone who travels and uses Planet Fitness for showers this was one of the grossest and unkept places. There were pubes left from trimming or shaving in the shower. The whole shower area had standing water. The shower heads were loose. Wet towels and trash everywhere. Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves

Update*** Aug 5, 2023 Now there are black girls just using the men's locker room as they please. NO ONE CLEANS. PATHETIC.still no change. I see maybe 1 out of 5 people will wipe their machines, pathetic. Bring your disinfectant wipes and sprays because NO ONE cleans the machines after use. The place is disgusting. You'll hear people talking on their phones using speaker phone the whole time. You'll hear everyone's music playing out of their phone speakers, so I hope you are looking forward to that. I have been going to this PF since they opened.  I always go mid afternoon on my lunch break.  Some days it's busy and other days it's not, but since it's a larger PF there is usually no issue with finding a machine, a bench or an open spot on the floor to workout.  A few newer ones have opened recently and seem to be half the size with half the equipment.  I only go to other locations on a weekend or when on vacation just because of the convenience of location to where I Live. With going there for over 12 years I have made some close friends who I look forward to seeing everyday!  The staff frequently changes over, but right now there is an amazing group of employees at lunch time that I look forward to seeing.  I feel like a family there between the employees and the other gym goers!!  I always ask the trainer for a spot and he knows my name and encourages me to push through my last reps.  Always greeted when I walk in and a farewell when I leave.  I can't speak for the men's restroom, but the women's restroom is always stocked and clean.  And I'll let them know if they are out of something and always go fill it.  Lunch time seems to be when they go around and fill the sanitizer bottles and paper towel, so I always see that being done.    Yes, you have your few who dont wipe down machines after they work out, the few who don't re-rack their weights(which I will always bring to their attention), and the few who use benches to hold their bags and phones, but you're going to get that anywhere.  I know there has been a struggle with some cardio equipment being down longer than necessary, but unfortunately they are at the mercy of the parts showing up.  I have talked to the Manager before and as long as they are aware something is broken they submit it for repair immediately.   Unfortunately some people blame the staff for something they have no control over. =/  So Overall i am very pleased with the gym & the staff!
