I don't know why but this particular Planet Fitness in Howard Beach always seems to have a problem with their bathrooms if it's not the toilet paper it's the automatic flush units if it's not the automatic flush units it's simply that the bathroom is flooded and it seems that nobody is cleaning it up the place has become better than it was before but when you go to a bathroom and you sit and you find that there's no toilet paper in the holder what do you do I had to call them downstairs and get somebody to put toilet paper into the holder in addition the other holder didn't even have toilet paper because I went over to the other toilet and there was also a problem there they have Auto flushes that don't auto flush so the potential for continuous overflows are always there because the people don't care how much they throw into a toilet bowl you need an auto flush in a place like this works everything else seems to be fine does bathroom issues every time I go there so that's why the low rating the bathroom needs to be monitored and maintained and well kept the present time of this writing it is not

I reside in far Rockaway, and my closest Planet fitness is located in Lawrence NY. Although conveniently close and the staff is accommodating their Equipment desperately needs Replacement!!! In particular The Stairmaster. This is about the only reason I visit Planet fitness. Out of 6 Machines you are fortunate that 2 are operable! If you are lucky enough to have immediate access to a machine?( which is rare).a member told me about the Howard Beach Location with all New Stairmaster Machines! Ever since I visited this establishment I haven't looked back! Never a wait, and they are Spanking New Machines. My daughter says it's too far! I say it's worth the 7.5 mile Trip😃😃😃😃

Used to be a member about 3 years ago and recently signed back up. It was good the first week I was here but then it looks like they removed a ton of cardio machines just to fit 2 or 3 new weight machines recently. Now it seems like you have to win the lottery to make it onto a treadmill. Plus the treadmills themselves don’t have any type of fan. This issue, on top of not having good air conditioning, almost no fans on the second floor, and constant messy sinks in the bathroom makes the experience kind of bad. Wish they could fix these simple things that a lot of people look for in this type of gym.

I've been a loyal member of this gym since it first opened. It used to be 24 hours (except on weekends), which was a major reason I joined. Unfortunately, they've changed the hours, and it's really inconvenient now. What’s even more frustrating is the staff. Most of them are very young and seem uninterested in their jobs, always on their phones, barely acknowledging members. When you try to share concerns, they respond with attitude, rudeness, and zero professionalism. It feels like management doesn't care either, which makes it even worse.I really miss how this gym used to be.

I been coming to this gym for 4 years now and I used to love it but day by day is getting worse. There’s no AC on the second floor only fans on the floor that doesn’t do anything I can’t complete my cardio because I feel like I’m fainting. It's unbelievable that this gym does not have air conditioning — only a few floor fans are used to control the heat, which makes workouts extremely uncomfortable, especially during hotter days. The bathrooms are consistently dirty, and there's a serious lack of hygiene overall. Many people don’t clean the machines after use, and when they do, they leave dirty tissues on the equipment or the floor.

What’s more concerning is that the staff never address these issues, which shows that maintaining a clean and respectful environment is clearly not part of the gym’s culture. I hope management takes serious action to improve these conditions, because right now, it’s far below acceptable standards.

I love Planet Fitness because I’ve going here for the past three years. I’m not as consistent as I should be but I’m trying. Today I returned to the gym after a 3 month hiatus. As many of you may know today was one of the hottest days of the year. Guess what, there was no AC on the second floor of the gym!!! It was very hot with no cool air on the second floor. This climate made it unbearable for anyone to do their workouts. What is the point of paying a monthly membership fee when we can’t get AC over the summer? I went into the 30 minute room and it was like a sauna in there. How are we supposed to workout comfortably when there’s no cool air? To make matters worse there were fans positioned on the second floor that was only blowing hot air. The fans didn’t help with anything. In addition, there were no Planet Fitness employees on the second floor because it was so hot. All the employees were downstairs where it was much cooler enjoying the AC while customers melt upstairs. The second floor conditions are unbearable, I would suggest getting the AC fixed on the second floor or offer customers free drinks or offer a discounted rate during the summer months.

This planet fitness is a hot mess. And I seriously do not recommend people who are thinking about working out here.

Firstly, the employees are a bunch of early 20 year olds that do NOT want to do their jobs. They’re either on their phones, walking around with the other employees, talking to their girlfriends who come and just not keeping a great job on the upkeep. The manager is the same, she’s the same age, same attitude and just doesn’t care.

Someone vomited and I had to track down a person to tell them that it’s just sitting there. Why did I have to exercise next to someone’s vomit on the floor?

Secondly, it is now 95 degrees out in SUMMER and how is the upstairs AC unit NOT working. It’s a sauna up there. It smells, it’s stifling and I’m most certainly sure people have passed out. The BOTTOM floor has nice AC and it’s chilly. Conveniently where the employees are…

The upstairs feels like a sauna. It's so hot and humid up there. The air conditioning hasn't been working for weeks now. This is probably why they're not allowing tours of the gym when you try to sign up. There are also so many teens just sitting on the equipment using their phones, while the paying members have to wait for them to finally get off the damn machine.

For some reason it seems like no attention or priority is being put on sanitary conditions and over all upkeep of the place. The water fountains have had pink bacteria growth for a while now and its just growing more and more. I brought it to the workers attention twice and I have not seen any change. On top of this the AC unit for the second floor has been down for a few weeks or months now and the solution has been to place fans. All things considered it might be something that most can work around but considering the poor sanitation I have noticed this additional problem just highlights the lack of attention thats being placed on keeping a clean and working environment. I hope management will take this into consideration.

I went in on June 3rd to cancel my membership due to me having surgery and wouldn’t be able to come in for a while. The front desk employee seemed to not know what he was doing and asked someone for help and she tried to convince me to keep the membership. After saying I for sure wanted to cancel the guy behind the front desk said “something’s not working, we’ll handle this a bit later and you’ll be notified.” I haven’t been notified at all and I got charged today for my membership. It’s a hassle to go back after having a surgery on my leg and I’m sure they disregarded my whole interaction. Please train your staff better or hire someone who’s willing to do their job.

I went to this location to sign up for a membership plan, but they simply require you to register a bank account. Since I am a student staying in the United States for a few months, I don’t have this information. The attendant seemed uninterested—after I explained my situation, she pretended not to understand and asked me to send an email. I couldn’t even find a contact email on the company's website. When I reached out to the Lawrence location, at least they informed me that they do not accept one-time payments if you don’t have a bank account. Terrible customer service from this company.

They act like they’re still in high school. All they do really is chat to each other while slacking off. Machines are never really cleaned. If they are, the staff member is on their phone and blocking the machine someone could be using. Paper towel is never replaced, but meanwhile I see a group of staff members just walking around on the floor talking to each other.

Disappointed because I pay money for this gym and supplies are never replaced, there’s no water. I can’t fill my bottle up (it’s been like 4 days now. Probably more). I don’t get it.

I went in to get a workout in since this is the closest gym to me. I looked online on the PF website before going in to see if I can get a free one day pass - the website said yes. Upon entering and inquiring about this, the person behind the desk said this location does not participate in the free day passes & said it will be $20. Upon taking my phone out to look at the website once more and download the app they asked for my ID (for what reason I’m unsure).

I then redeemed the free day pass via the app, which this location DOES participate in. Decent gym, but that shady experience was anything but morally correct.

I didn’t want to leave bad review, but it has happened twice. Most of the staff members specially they were all guys. They standing at the front desk talking to each other, and some of them showing TikTok videos to others. Meanwhile, sanitizer bottlers are empty, cleaning spray bottles are also empty. And upstairs paper towels are empty too. And one day when I went, I said good morning to the guy at the front desk, and he didn’t even greet me back. He is standing there listening to his music. Now that I don’t go there for greetings. But in customer service business you have to prioritize customer. I am not saying all the staff members are same. But some are not professional. No professionalism, no respect for the customers. Used to be 5 star now it’s 1 star.

My experience with upper management has been nothing short of frustrating. It feels like the company prioritizes profits over customer loyalty or satisfaction. I’ve had a billing issue where late fees have been charged since July, despite the fact that my payment method has always had sufficient funds. I’ve used the same credit card since 2022 without any prior problems, so why is this suddenly an issue in 2024?

If a bank account is the typical requirement for membership, then why accept my credit card as payment in the first place? Now, I’m stuck paying for a membership I no longer want while waiting for a refund.

It’s frustrating to deal with a company where it feels like no one has the authority to resolve issues. If loyalty doesn’t matter, then I’d rather be dismissed than ignored. It’s clear they’re more interested in money than in retaining customers.

FYI – Both my husband and I will be canceling our Black Card memberships.

Staff is friendly and gym is clean but as of today they are down to exactly ZERO stairmasters. They’ve been breaking down one at a time since around April.Today (July 28th) the last one bit the dust and the others still do not work. The gym is also over run with teenagers who sit on the machines for 20 min on their phone before they even start a set. Again great staff who are not at fault for these problems, but clearly AWFUL management!

A health hazard!! Machines are constantly broken. Tissue dispensers are never filled. No hand sanitizers at cleaning stations. Employees are standing at the front desk on their phones, not even paying attention to who is walking in and out of the building. The bathrooms are filthy, and hand soaps are never filled. I reviewed this place on my first impression but I’m a black card member living near brooklyn but when I had a visit the cemetery to see my mother for Mother’s Day I drove to two exits to planet fitness Cross Bay and let me tell you the staff ,cleanliness The new equipment the noticeable fresh air I didn’t have to smell any weed like in Brooklyn
