I love my clean and friendly gym very much. Everyone at the Kingston gym is very friendly and welcoming. I feel very comfortable and confident going there.

EDIT: please please stop moving the trash can. I know corporate wanted to movie it but I can speak for lots of ladies. Where it is now someone is going to face plant into the paper towel dispenser. It also piles up with traffic due to no room to pass though while some one is getting their towels. Please know this is still the #1 PF for miles and miles.This is easy to fix. Please for all of us in the ladies locker room, move it back in the corner by the door. We would be so happy!!! Love you guys!!!!Kristie

Pros
-Management/Staff very polite and helpful
-Clean facility with all equipment online and available.....seldom is there a station offline
-hot water in showers as desired
Cons
-members have a tendency to sit on station and zone out....often staring off into space or on their cell phones...This is especially disturbing when there is only one of a desired station.
-Wish you could bring back pizza night....budget constraints probably prevent this from happening.
-Displays on treadmills and other cardio equipment could be maintained better.I do not enjoy poking around until I find a display that provides all of the channels and sound...Also all monitors should be turned off when not in use....Power especially in these times has priority and we should conserve as much as possible. -Not big on the music that is piped over the sound system....but then again I am a senior citizen and prefer music from my generation....I can handle the new stuff as long as the volume is not too loud.
To summarize I have been going to planet fitness since 2013 (not during Covid because I refused to exercise with a mask on)...I expect to continue my membership as long as my health will allow me to do this............

This place has become one of my favorite spots for training. I love the Black service because it allows me to use any location at any time for a great price. Since they updated the equipment at the Kingston location, the workout experience has improved significantly. The machines are in good condition and plentiful, so I don’t have to wait long to use them. The new functional training areas are fantastic. My only suggestion would be to add some mobile and adjustable steps, as well as more mats in the functional areas.

The staff here are very pleasant and helpful. The gym is kept clean and the drinks, tan lotions, bags, shirts, etc. are always well stocked. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the asinine new layout. It was great when we joined but they updated the equipment and located the new machines terribly. Whoever set up the new equipment also removed some very popular ones and put one of the most used torso machines (when there were previously TWO) in the back corner, away from the other ab machines. The staff doesn't seem to like the new layout any more than most members do. One of the staff members said they were trying to tell management about all of the complaints, and they wanted to get it rearranged. I'll go five stars if and when they do.

New machines are impractical. Some are unusable. The cable machines only have 5 lb attachments now, no more 2.5 attachments. Fine. But most of those machines go up by 5 lbs anyways so it seems redundant. jumping up a whole 5 lbs on single arm bicep curls or tricep pulldowns is tough. Using the 2.5lb added weights to bridge the gap was great. You can no longer do so.

The chest-fly/rear delt machine only goes up by 20 lbs. There is an adjustment to add 2.5 lbs, 5 lbs, or 7.5 lbs to your weight. That means if you want to go higher than 107.5 lbs on a work out you have to jump to 120 lbs. If you want to go higher than 127.5 lbs you have to jump to 140 lbs. That is insane. Especially for rear delt workout.

Used to have 2 preacher curl machines. They were always busy. Always. So you would think they would add another. Instead there is now only 1. So good luck using it.

The machines certainly look neat though, so that's nice I suppose.

I am disgusted , myself and my daughter had each our own membership and something happened an employee was being bias against my daughter and really hurt her so I made a complaint MONTHS ago and tye general manager assured me he canceled my membership and then my daughters membership and he did cancel mine but my daughter just got a bank statement and he never canceled her membership she has been being charged 30 dollars a month and no one has used her membership since this incident months and months ago. I am very upset and this needs to be fixed. Planet fitness steals people's money.

Absolutely terrible experience with Planet Fitness Kingston.

I emailed them on March 18, 2025 to cancel my membership because I’m currently traveling overseas for a year—somewhere that has no Planet Fitness locations. They completely ignored my cancellation request, charged me anyway, and then ignored a second follow-up email. I also contacted Planet Fitness Support, who confirmed they reached out to the club—but still, I got no response and was charged AGAIN.

Under New York State law (effective Jan 2025), gyms are required to process cancellation requests within 10 business days and provide written confirmation. Under the FTC’s “Click to Cancel” rule, which took effect in January 2025, any company that offers online sign-up (which Planet Fitness Kingston does) must offer a simple, equivalent cancellation method—like email. They violated both.

This location is shady, unprofessional, and clearly ignoring federal and state laws. I have proof of my emails, my travel status, and the charges. I will be filing complaints with the FTC and New York Attorney General, and I strongly urge others to think twice before trusting this gym.

You can’t just take people’s money while ghosting their cancellation requests. Shame on the ownership and management for running such a dishonest business.

The night staff are very rude and disrespectful. Also the repair time on broken equipment is ridiculous there’s a lat pull down machine that has been out of service for over a month and it still hasn’t been fixed it’s really upsetting. Also the late night staff are very incompetent. There should always be someone at the front desk to attend people and late at night they are nowhere to be found. People have to go out of their way just to look for them it’s unacceptable.

I stopped into my Kingston Planet Fitness needing some assistance with my membership... I watched the young man named Liam smile, greet EVERYONE, and so kindly and professionally help me with all my issues while continuing to multi task by greeting and making sure everyone felt noticed and supported. This establishment refused to offer a refund or cancellation for a woman who was ill and unable to drive. It is an immoral establishment and its corporate team would do well to reconsider its regulations as well as train its staff to treat its customers well. After reading the horrible reviews I still decided to go for my free tour. Even after I read about the overcharging the wanting your bank information( to renew your membership without amongst other things) the filming of members by employees in the shower area.( hope that guy got a lawyer fast!!) The broken machines the water fountains I had to see as much as I could for myself. Well when I first got there employees were on their phones the one who finally helped me didn't seem very interested in doing so. And yes there were plenty broken machines or the machines were not available water fountain was inoperable but at least no one took video of me in the shower! (At least not this time) the staff seemed very arrogant and immature overall it was not a comfortable experience at all and I do not suggest this gym to anyone! And we can tell from other reviews what the response is going to be. Sorry about your experience please contact your local manager and make sure to give us your email so we can send you a bunch of spam. And by the way your gym is a franchise so corporate can't help you. Please anyone with any common sense the YMCA it's probably going to be a better experience for you unless of course you like this kind of stuff then I'm sure they'll give you an application. I'm going to try to get in for another free tour this time I will bring my camera and let everyone see for themselves

I just called them on behalf of my kid, who left for college and forgot to cancel the membership. Apparently , “you can’t cancel by phone” - that’s one star lost. “You have to come in” - that’s two stars lost. Or, “you have to write a letter” …a letter??!! What is this, 1992? That’s the third star lost. THEN, it’s August 12 and even if we had gone in today, they are going to charge for next month. $30 on August 17, five whole days from now. So I joined a few months back because my normal gym was closed for repairs and well the 3 months I was a member I got charged a late fee meanwhile it was going thru my savings account and many people have told me the accounting sucks n that theirs always issues in the billing dept. So I go to cancel my membership and I got told that I have to pay 60 dollars to cancel it knowing it's not on my end there's plenty in the account and backup account to cover the fees so just to be done with this nonsense I paid it but I'll never go back again. This location is great. The staff is friendly, everything is clean. The locker room has a nice setup. There are 5 showers, including 1 handicap accessible. The shower heads could use updating for more flow and pressure, but they get the job done. I particularly like that there are changing stalls right across from the showers. The black card spa is well organized, everything in one area. There are 2 massage chairs, 2 hydroassage, 1 red light therapy, and aprox 8 tanning beds. Overall, the people that frequent this location seem to be respectful, and if there is ever a problem, the staff are great about addressing it. Theres a good vibe here and no judgement.

I have been a member for years, through several managers. The employees in the past have been amazing respectful kind people. The current high schoolers that work the front desk gossip/trash-talk members nonstop... And seem to do nothing but hang out with their friends all day while the place falls apart. I love the employees! They are kind, always smiling when I come in and let me know it! They even look forward to my return. They seemingly purposely charged me twice sighting the reason being that I was using a checking account then another time saying that it was a typo either way I don't see why I should have to pay an extra $10 on a month for no reason then also pay an annual fee that they never advertised when I was joining plus it's $58 to drop membership (also never was told oh well) so I would say good scam but sucks for me otherwise it's a planet fitness no sauna and odd spin classes or w.e. they offer I just want to use a treadmill

I started going to this gym in September and I love it! I started using the personal trainer Dan and he is amazing! He is helpful and knowledgeable and most importantly he listened to what I wanted and is helping me achieve my goals. He is attentive and helps push me while making sure I am doing things the right way and that I won’t get hurt. I like that he has flexible times. The sheets that he uses to keep track of my workouts are also super helpful to see the progress I am making.

This gym is also very clean. The staff is friendly and are always there to greet me at the door. This makes it feel welcoming and makes me want to go. And you can’t beat the price ❤️

Nothing is more aggravating than when you are misled by a place of business in order to get a sale through the expectation of a fake promotion that is used to reel you in. The current promo is sign up for $1. Not true!!
When signing up the resentative doing the enrollment was asked 2 times when the first billing payment for the 24.99 would be and 2 times she said NOVEMBER 16TH. FOUR DAYS LATER I RECIEVED A DOUBLE WITHDRAWAL.. When I called and enquired about this it was en entirely diffrent story. I'm not really upset about the withdrawal, I am upset about the deceitful way the customers are reeled in and lied to. An unsuspecting person would have incurred bank fees which I guarantee if it had been my case plant fitness would have been correcting it So shame on you planet fitness do better and please do not train your employees to lie for the sake of a sale do better.
