The Albany-Shaker Road Planet Fitness is the absolute worst. Even though it's much closer to my home, I generally prefer going to the Planet Fitness @ Washington Avenue extension. My biggest complaint about Albany-Shaker is their insane treadmills which you need an MIT degree to operate. Today, I opted to go there because it was convenient. There are countless buttons, levers, and indicators on it, so in trying & trying to figure out how to set the speed, I suddenly found myself speed-running at a breakneck pace, so fast that I couldn't even move my hands to stop it. After a minute I finally got my finger on the STOP button & nearly flew off the machine. Never again.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone seems to be very diligent about cleaning the machines after they use them. If you want to tan , you have your choice of a standing booth or one you lay down in. Overall I have had nothing but good experiences there.

I don't know what's going on with planet fitness but I used to see someone come around and check the paper towel holders the trash in that area now is kind of slacking when members who pay for a membership have to tell employees when the paper towel holders are empty and the trash need to be taken out or there's a wet floor somewhere it's sad it's been awhile since I seen someone come through with the push cart with the supplies on it and go throughout the workout areas and fill what needs to be filled and emptied out the trash when it's full let alone clean the workout equipment that's why I always make sure I clean it before I get on and I clean it after I'm done with it

I am very impressed! There are tons of machines of every kind, and multiple rooms with different functions. This gym is way bigger and more equipped than the gym I am currently using. It is also cheaper than the gym I am currently using, so I will be switching soon.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. Everything is clean and well kept. I love every part of it.

After working out at a gym for 25 years, Planet Fitness does not take into account the benefits of small muscle use for training symmetrical movements. The removal of the bench press is one indication of not catering to the needs of those who desire to encompass this into their fitness routine.. The rowing machine is ridiculous, they should have invested in a Concept 2. The machine, labeled as "Planet Fitness" at the highest setting does not provide the benefits it is supposed nor the actual rowing motion. Instead of spending so much money on the balance rack in the back, which has very little use, invest In something that will raise your heart rate gradually. Something that is challenging and gives someone the opportunity to look forward to the increase of physical condition such as a Versaclimber or an actual ergometer (rowing machine) would be a plus for the desire to reach this goal. Over all, in my off season, I use the gym to do 2 or 3 target exercises, two of which was the bench press and an open squat rack, now removed. These require the large and small muscle activation needed for strength and balance. Machines are limited and cramped for taller people. I understand the motivation to get new members. But what about those who will stay much longer than the start and stop new members. There has to be step up goals for all levels.

I've been coming to this location for years. They've consistently tried to keep things up to date with newer equipment and fresh paint but it always seems to be a little behind other it gets repaired quickly (unlike years ago when I first joined). Overall, it meets my needs and couldn't be in a more convenient location.

My biggest frustration has become the hours. This location is not open 24 hours on any day, and I wish they were open a couple hours later on the weekends so I didn't have to scramble to get a workout in on the weekends that I work.

I have to give a shout-out to Grace and Imre! They were able to figure out how to untangle my boyfriend’s and my account ever since the Crossgates Commons PF flip-flopped our accounts. (My info was under his name vice versa since we signed up at the same time.) We tried about 3 other times to get everything fixed and they FINALLY were able to figure it out today. While they were helping us, they were also helping other customers check-in. THANK YOU!

Great Planet Fitness. I've been a member for a while and have had multiple locations as my home gym. I love this place. Clean bathrooms/lockerrooms with equipment that are fully functional. Grace and Imre helped my gf and I fix an account issue and they were friendly, efficient and effective. Kudos to all staff.

UPDATE: I had a horrible encounter today. With the exception of a few staff members, the staff is rude. Today I went with a female friend and this young boy in glasses was being trained because he was new. I didn't think anything of it. When my friend and I were exiting, she was in the front and this new guy was weirdly smiling and being overly nice and he didn't even acknowledge someone was behind. It was rude and disrespectful. If two people are exiting, you acknowledge both people. It doesnt matter if someone interacts with you first or not. That was very rude and speaks to someone's character. There is also another male who is awkward in his dealing. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I believe people get what they put out but I was shocked at how disrespectful someone can be in another person's face.
I had a previous post here but this experience totally negated everything I wrote prior. I worked in retail and could never imagine greeting a person in the front with such a grand overly exaggerated smile and totally ignoring someone behind. Very nasty.

All the negative reviews here are spot on, I've had a horrible experience here. I am recently recovering from a terrible cold I got from coming here, a friend of mine got the same cold after coming an hour after me.
I had an old white male come to my personal space and lean into my personal space asking how old I was and being very creepy. That is very invasive to ask an adult woman how old she is and get into her personal space. I had to repeatedly tell him I was working out and to assert myself. That was such a horrible experience. The way he was leaning into me was so disrespectful. It took every bit of strength in me to address him without going all the way off, even though he would of deserved it. His arm was over the bar on the cable pulley and his body was too close. I don't know where and how he got the nerve to do that. He was wearing a hat with an American flag on it and claimed he was in his 80s.
I would advise any woman to set these males straight because they seem to think women are fair game.
People pay for a membership to workout, not be harassed by older males.
Overall, the gym is smaller than other PF I been to. I wish they rearranged some things so it doesnt feel cramped.

It's ok. This locations' hours aren't as long as other locations as they close at 11pm. One of the men's sinks has been out of order for a while. They could also get more equipment for machines with high utilization.

This location is fantastic. Always clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful. What I am most impressed by is how good of a deal this membership is. Free tanning, (the beds are great) free massage chair & bed (fantastic), the showers are clean, and the gym of course is very nice! Honestly I loved it here! We moved to an area without a planet fitness local so unfortunately I had to cancel. But I can’t recommend this place enough!!!

It has changed a lot from years ago. Must be a difference in management because the staff used to be mean and annoying. Pleasantly surprised at the change. Came in a few times recently to nice front staff that were not overly aggressive or trying to force you to follow some ridiculous dress code. Worked out in peace and have made this my new gym. Place was clean, plenty of machines, nice mix of people. Definitely recommend!

The gym appears well maintained and new 65 inch screen televisions were recently installed but the manager seems to favor Fox News because I do not see any channels set to CNN or MSNBC. When I asked the front desk staff i was told that they do not set the stations. This is set by the manager or Direct Tv. How disappointing 😒

Good gym overall, but needs more attention from maintenance perspective:

- couple of machine's plastic handles are ripped and leave sticky oil goo on your hands after usage;
- shower stall hooks are not attached properly;
- shower water somewhat floods immediately adjacent area to the stall making it hard to get dressed right after;
- no proper pull-up bar;

A pretty nice PF, great staff, and a really phenomenal trainer. My partner and I have been training with Arnole for about a month and a half, and we’ve seen some really excellent gains. Arnole has fixed my form on dozens of exercises, particularly while lifting weights, enabling me to really start making progress after feeling stagnant while lifting for a while. Really excited to keep improving and learning!

I have to say during COVID I was reluctant to go to the gym but they are very diligent about regularly walking the rows to monitor people appropriately are wearing their masks with full covers about every 5 mins and have no problem advising people to adjust or keep their masks on. The cleaning of the equipment is consistent. I didn't give 5 stars because the warehouse rafter cables are so caked with dust and grime. However, staff are helpful and courteous.
