I recently visited the Planet Fitness in Poughkeepsie, New York, and I can confidently say it’s a standout among local gyms! The facility is exceptionally clean, surpassing not only other nearby gyms but also other Planet Fitness locations I’ve been to. From the moment you walk in, the pristine environment creates a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.

All the equipment is consistently in excellent working condition, which makes for a seamless workout experience. I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail—every paper towel dispenser was fully stocked, and the overall upkeep of the gym reflects a high standard of care. It’s clear the staff takes pride in maintaining the space.

Working out here is an absolute pleasure, thanks to the clean, well-maintained facilities and the positive vibe of the establishment. If you’re in Poughkeepsie and looking for a reliable, spotless gym, this Planet Fitness is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend!

Really great Gym. The manager is super friendly as is the rest of the staff. I love the newer machines with more economic candles and A dial to add additional weight makes it super easy… Great staff great location and the layout makes it so you can always find a quiet place to work out if one area is crowded…. Brittany and her team are spectacular! The gym is always clean and the team are always very friendly and helpful! Great place to work out and feel welcomed and not judged! Abe is one team member that stands out. He is so supportive and encouraging. Makes the extra effort to know everyone by name and to learn people’s journeys and helps support the journey we are on. Honestly most team members feel like family to me. Without the kindness and support upon walking in and a smile and the greeting and the positivity I don’t know if I could get through my workout with a smile on my face. They just remind me that I’m in the right place for the right reasons. I don’t get across the river much these days, but when I do, Poughkeepsie is always my choice of gym, always! The drive up nine is worth it.

I went to the gym this morning with all the attitude and good vibes to do my workout routine and when I entered the place I was greeted by a blonde girl with a very bad attitude telling me that I couldn't get in because my boyfriend wasn't with me ( he pays for the black card) This has NEVER happened to me in ANY other planet fitness, it's the first time it's happened to me and I felt so bad because of the girl's attitude, she didn't want to explain to me why I couldn't get in and I kept asking her why I couldn't get in, as I said before this has never happened to me. I hope you see my review and work with your receptionists so that they are kinder to people and know how to explain themselves better and not give bad attitudes to their clients

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I feel like it’s a bit too hot in there. The temperature be perfect during winter though. This only occurs post winter temperatures.
Also, I noticed it’s always leaking by the express workout (30 mins) area. Will this be ever taken care off?
To add to that, there’s a bird nest by the front door.
Question:
Are we able to put a scent diffuser inside the gym? That’d really improve the air quality in there. Thank you!

Too often, it smells like death. Locker/ bathrooms are sketchy at best. Equipment is typically OK. The temperature fluctuates uncomfortably by location within the facility on cold days. I have been to dozens of PF locations in the US, and this is amoung the worst-kept I have used

The gym itself is decent, but there are a few significant drawbacks. The smell is unpleasant and really detracts from the overall experience. Unlike other Planet Fitness locations, this one doesn’t have many windows, which makes the space feel cramped and a bit suffocating. The men’s locker room was particularly disappointing—it was quite dirty, despite the fact that there were seven staff members working at the front desk. It’s frustrating when there’s a lack of attention to cleanliness, especially in areas where hygiene is so important.

I am a full time college student and I be using the gym there for FREE and I still choose to come to this gym that I do enjoy but one thing for sure is that the managers there don't do their job. I had spoken to one of the club associate and explained and showed proof of the reason why I haven’t been to the club was due to a ankle injury that I had to have surgery on. He replied to me by saying that the manager will be waiving the fees the next day that I would just have to pay for my membership. Months later still no luck i went in person manager is never available. I call same excuse. I'm not refusing to pay for my membership but the penalties are stupid especially when I prove i was going through some health issues.

The following is what I have submitted to planet fitness's contact support online after a very disappointing in-person experience with the manager:

When my monthly membership fee/annual fee did not go through for insufficient funds I was rebilled repeatedly, I was not aware I would be rebilled this many times and I'm dealing with insufficient fund fees with the bank now after PF did 7+ attempted transactions in a month

In person at my club I asked for my late fees on your side to be removed and my annual fee be reduced or removed as a courtesy and I would then pay my outstanding balance and become current

I was told in no uncertain terms this was impossible and that the mangers hands where tied and it was impossible for them to wave the fees or extend me any courtesy

I would like the late fees removed, and the annual fee to be reduced or removed. An apology would be appreciated as well. I will be posting this as a 1 star review until the matter is resolved

I’ve never had a bad thing to say about this location and normally wouldn’t complain about this place but for the last 2 months I’ve come here, the men’s locker room/bathroom has smelled like a homeless hideout. I’m so sorry for this planet fitness! The water is HORRIBLE you have to use Irish spring it’s going to leave a hard water stain on your skin! You can tell they need so type of money because the clerk did not politely stop me to talk about my over due payment in front of a grand flux of people coming in, I said I’ll take take of it later because I have a very important appointment this morning and he said no you have to take care of this now! I was looking at him like👀 wow he not going to let me in for a late payment! Which I paid! This was my second time here and #NeverAgain would I come here and I would tell no one to come here! Not complicated. You can schedule a time for trainers to show you how to use equipment. Showers if needed. Lockers but need to bring own lock. Only for use while there. Very clean. I have full membership so I can use aqua massage table due to lumbar issues. I have no pain afterwards. I am only uncomfortable with weight section of gym.

I’ve been a member since 2007. This gym has smelled like sewage ever since. You can use the Sulfuric Fart Water to wash your hands or shower in. The toilets are almost always covered with diarrhea. One of the few places you will feel dirtier washing your hands after the fact. The employees will leave the the toilets covered in feces, and put an out of order sign on it. When you step on the tiles in the men’s bathroom, urine will seep out from underneath. Multiple staff members, including the female manager during the day (please do not call me), have dusted the top of the machines while I was using them. The clientele rarely wipe down the machines. The Rules are rarely enforced.

This place sucks!!! But it’s 10$

I only go here because my Coworkers don’t.

I’D BE EMBARRASSED IF I OWNED THIS GYM.
