it’s like they took everyone with the worst gym etiquette and put them all in one place. nobody knows how to clean up after themselves/ re-rack their weights. members think it’s appropriate to spend 60+ minutes on a single machine scrolling on their phone for 20 minutes between each set. Not to mention you cannot come after 2pm because the highschool kids come in screaming, being inappropriate and seemingly trying to break the equipment. not a great place if you care about training but apparently a great place if you need a bunch of oddly shaped seats to sit on while scrolling your phone

I use this location sometimes because it’s closer to work I go after 6:00pm the bathrooms aren’t kept up, the equipment in general-is older, not enough newer machines lots of cracked cushions, hip/glute machines are old, should be replaced with the newer “combination” machines, the sanitizing stations are often empty I feel towards the end of the day the staff doesn’t really care if the gym is cleaned. Hard to get time on machines Monday-Wednesday too many people are just sitting around on them.

NOTE TO MANAGEMENT:

The changing rooms in the male locker room need to have signs on the changing room doors and changing room walls saying:

“Please DO NOT leave your clothes unattended in the changing room while taking a shower, please be considerate to others”

This is why we have lockers!!!!!

Time after time, everytime I go to use a changing room clothes and gym bags are left in the changing rooms while the person(s) is showering. This is extremely inconsiderate and crappy gym etiquette.

Definitely a club going in the wrong direction.
Locker rooms are dirty. Equipment broken for weeks. Equipment pads needing to be recovered.
Giant overhead fans running at full speed for no reason creating uncomfortable airflow in many areas. You would think that ownership would understand that as the negative reviews add up business will trend downward.

This place is just so dirty and Dusty, the bathrooms are just always atrocious, I had to cancel my membership. I do not blame the staff that works there, this place is a high traffic gym, it should be managements responsibility to hire an outside cleaning crew to clean the facility twice daily or daily. Other gyms in the area have staff on duty whose job is solely to keep the gym, cleanly and sanitized

Planet Fitness has great machines. Great lighting in most of their clubs, though it can vary. There are corporate owned clubs and franchises. Some of the franchises are not as well maintained. I’ve been in a franchise club that felt like a dungeon. It was in a city basement, no natural light and crappy lighting, broken machines, people don’t clean up after themselves. Most clubs have courteous attendees who wipe their machines down after use, and staff who keep it clean. The one I go to has its “regulars” and it’s easy to chat on the treadmill to pass the time, or tune in to one of the tv’s that are on. Bathrooms are clean. Machines are clean. Front desk people are friendly. Place has a good vibe and it’s busy but not crowded. Never a wait for a weight ! And people will help if you ask. But you need to find the right club to suit you. The good thing is that there is usually one nearby.

The non judgement claim is so very true. I used to feel so intimidated going to a gym but PF makes it so user friendly with equipment that even has qr codes so you can view animated instruction how to use it. the crowd is a bunch of individuals of all fitness levels and ages who are too focused on their own gains so don't worry if you're shy literally no one is giving you a thought or glance lol. Meanwhile, I feel if I were to ask for someones guidance the environment feels at ease and friendly so I wouldn't hesitate to ask The cherry on top is the membership is SO affordable TY PF for helping me stay committed to my fitness journey I happily turn up 6/days week❣️💪🏽😘

I have worked out at many gyms over-the-years and give Planet Fitness a very positive rating. Not only are they very affordable, but they offer more than enough gym equipment to obtain a full and thorough workout. You may need a trainer to start, but there is a ton of information on-line that can guide you in developing a appropriated workup, subject to your age, health parameters and advice of your doctor. OK, they may not offer some of the fancier equipment that expensive gyms offer. But most of this fancy equipment, IMHO, is not necessary, if you are going to the gym to improve your physical look, improve your health and know what you are doing. Planet Fitness offers a Black Card Memberships that gives you some extra perks, but they are not relevant for myself, and even when I had a Back Membership, I did not avail myself of these extras, so cannot comment (IMHO, tanning, massage chairs, etc. are not a reason to go to a gym or necessary to improve your look and health). Planet fitness staff are always polite, actively clean the gym on a regular basis and appear to like working for the company. All-in-all, I have no hesitation recommending PF - if your goal is to improve your physical look and add to a healthy lifestyle.

I need to work out, people hang on the machines scrolling their phones. There is a wait on machines, people use two machines at once preventing other people from using the equipment. It’s ridiculous- the staff is very young and do not assist in keeping people from hanging out on the machines.

I can confidently say the Riverhead Planet Fitness is an exceptional gym. The facility is always clean, there are spacious workout areas, and the team has done a wonderful job at creating a motivating atmosphere. Kyle! The new overnight guy at planet fitness Riverhead. I have never, in my life, seen an employee, so dedicated, so conscientious, so hard-working as this young gentleman is. I get there in the overnight hours and I leave before the before work crowd!! When I get there, Kyle is busy on the floor cleaning. Sometimes he’s cleaning the locker rooms. Mopping the floor, cleaning out all the lockers. Sometimes he is in the bathroom keeping the bathroom spotless. I understand that that’s part of their job but I have witnessed many an overnight employee. There is nobody and there are those who worked hard, but there is nobody who works 1/10 of what Kyle does. On top of that if I need the total body enhancement, he will immediately interrupt what he is doing and set it up for me. If others want to buy a bottle of water. If others just have a question. He is working very hard yet. He will always stop what he was doing and help you with what you need. I think sometimes people focus on the treadmills or the ellipticals or the pulleys or the cable row and all the equipment in the function room, in the 30 minute circuit training, and all the great things that planet fitness has the offer. And those things are worth mentioning. But it’s the employees who hold it together. It’s the employees who show they care or they don’t care. It’s the employees who show they care about their job or don’t care. it’s the employees who try to sleep because it’s overnight and the employees who would never think of sleeping during the overnight. In this post Covid era, keeping the gym clean & safe is as rare as having an employee who goes above and beyond what is expected of them! And he does it every night without recognition! I understand that Kyle has worked alone. Recently he got a trainee, and I told him if he trains that employee that employee will do a good job. But nobody notices the job he does. He does it all alone as a single employee in the overnight shift. so I would just like to take a minute to tell you you have a first rate dedicated conscientious employee in Kyle, the man who does the overnights at planet fitness Riverhead. Keep an eye on him. I don’t want the manager to feel threatened, but you may have management material there. truly someone who is dedicated to his job as he can only be an asset to planet fitness. And incidentally, my wife, who comes with me three days a week as my guest, as well as several of the other overnight members, all feel the same way. No one has done as good as a job as Kyle has. So I was visiting from Dallas, Texas and being addicted to gyms, I did not want to miss my daily workout. Lucky for me this location was not far from where I was staying. The facilities were accommodating and the locker room and showers were clean. Although it’s not my gym from back home, it served its purpose. Any port in a storm.

No matter what time I go here, this gym location (Planet Fitness Riverhead) is always overcrowded. It's been an issue for a while now and I'd have to wait for machines I want to use. There's also groups of younger people on their phones talking sitting on machines not using them regularly and I don't see the staff enforcing anything so the gym can be a good experience for everyone. Please do something about the crowds here because all the times I said something, nothing has been improving and it's a problem no matter what time of day or day of the week I come.

I’ve been working out in this gym next about a year now and I enjoy it at least at the times I go. Any time before the high school ends is definitely the best time, anything after that it starts to become packed; especially when it’s 4-5pm. I enjoy that the gym has every machine I need however there are some that I would hope have more, the smith machines would be one and currently there are 5. To be fair that machine is very popular but I wish there was at least some sort of limit as some people spend their entire workout there. Another thing is two or three actual leg press machines rather than the two other ones, they’re actual machines and personally I don’t get the full affect from them. Other than that, the gym is a nice place and everyone seems very nice and respectful. I would recommend to come workout here.

The gym has good machines, you just need a room for classes like aerobic training, kickboxing or whatever. One of the employees, the biggest boy, is the friendliest. The only thing I don't like about this gym is that they don't take care of the bathrooms, the bathrooms are beautiful but the cleanliness is lousy. I can say that it's been 3 weeks since I started going to Riverhead, the bathrooms or should I say the toilets are not cleaned, they have the same poop marks and they look weather-beaten. I think that if they can't pay for cleaning, they could at least provide some cleaning product and a brush so that people can do it themselves. I would do it happy. because the bathrooms are still beautiful but they are disgusting.

Don’t leave any valuables in your locker. An employee at the Riverhead location, cut my lock tonight trying to get another persons keys out of my locker (I didn’t know they were in there). After my workout, I came to my locker wide open with a cut lock. There was no announcement made, and no one asked anyone in the gym to identify who’s locker it was. She Just took it upon herself to cut it, citing it’s “protocol”. That meant the person who she cut my lock for, and who knows who else that was in the locker room at the time knew my locker was unsecured. To me, that’s unacceptable. I lock my locker for a reason!

Dirtiest showers on long Island disgusting. This one planet fitness has the most nastiest showers 🚿 😳 so dirty you'll leave the shower extremely itchy. Mold and mildew on walls and floor no one has really cleaned the showers in at least two years.

I felt judged the moment I walked in. The young blonde guy did not bother to greet us or even offer a smile. Upon exiting, i stood by front doors and saw him and a chubby straight hair blonde girl look at me, then said something to each other and began to laugh at me. Wasnt this a judgement free zone? At least the place was somewhat clean(only saw curly blonde hair lady working), hence the 2 stars. June 19th, was when I went here. Never coming back. Unfriendly environment.
