I have been doing Pilates for 17 years. Kevin at the Chelsea site is the best Pilates teacher I have ever had. I normally only go to his classes. I have never done that with a Pilates instructor before. He can sound short at times but I have found that helps me since I struggle with my mind wandering. (He also livestreams some of his classes so he needs to have his students pay better attention than they might in a chit-chatty Pilates class. His sessions are uniquely challenging. Anyone who has done Pilates for a long time knows that finding challenging classes can be difficult. I also recently had a problem for about two weeks where I woke up with a super-stiff back and hips and the condition would remain through part of the day. After Kevin did a private with me to address this, it disappeared and has not returned. I am constantly telling my classmates who are new to him to use him and that he was really giving them full value for their money.

I was running late and called them to let them know then they told me to cancel and then they took my credit :( usually places give you at least 1 mistake but nope not this place. Also the work out here is not very intense, it’s barely a work out

I would highly recommend avoiding Kevin’s class if you have any injuries or modifications you need to make. I was asked to leave class after I explicitly requested no hands on modifications and detailed my chronic hip injury when prompted to explain why I prefer consensual modifications. I was then touched by the instructor and asked to go to a different business in order to practice with modifications (I.e., having my feet hips width distance rather than hyperextending my sciatic range). After 25 years of yoga, Pilates and dance classes, I know there are safer spaces for movement. I recommend anyone interested in intelligent somatic healing to find a better home for PT as we only have one body to treat in our lifetimes; let us not waste any moment on cultivating unsafe Pilates cultures. Reminder to those who sign the liability waiver, they do may not allow female bodies to practice in a sustainable way.

Power Pilates enforces a strict 24-hour cancellation policy with no flexibility, even when there’s plenty of time for the spot to be filled. I had to cancel within 24 hours and asked if the class credit could be returned to my pack — they refused.
When I asked to refund my remaining sessions so I could find another studio, they sent me a screenshot of their terms and conditions stating no refunds.
I’d recommend looking for a studio that values its members and takes a more member-forward approach.

I had a very positive experience in Core Mat I training. The group was supportive and committed to learning. The instructor, Julie, was very experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate.

I just completed my Level 1 Mat Pilates training and absolutely loved it! Louise was such a wonderful instructor—supportive, knowledgeable, and inspiring throughout the whole course. I feel so much more confident in my practice and can’t wait to continue learning in Level 2!

I had a great experience with Power Pilates Mat 1 course!! I travelled from Toronto to NYC to participate and it was well worth it. The program was informative, I left feeling like I really understood the basics. The more you put in, the more you get out - I'd recommend anyone considering this program to really take some time and get familiar with the content and curriculum before the weekend. Amie, the instructor, was absolutely amazing and very kind. Post-course PP was extremely helpful too - they offer additional support (i.e. online training sessions) to continue your practise. Can't wait for Mat 2!!! Highly recommend.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I enrolled in Core I Pilates. I'm brand new on this journey of self awareness. I absolutely loved the course, the flow of how it was taught and the teacher. Louise was exceptional and I loved her teaching style so much that I signed up for level Core II in December. I really hope it's Teacher Louise who will be leading the course. Louise has inspired me to continue my Classical Pilates studies and I've now decided to learn all I can about Classical Pilates and become a certified teacher myself and share all the amazing benefits that Classical Pilates has to the world!

I participated in a training led by Power Pilates at a studio in NC. Christine was an excellent trainer/facilitator. The structure of the workshop ensured that regardless of teaching experience each participant had a huge growth curve from Friday to Sunday. I personally struggle with rote memorization and was unable to memorize the list of exercises before the class, but by the end of Saturday I was able to have my husband quiz me on the list and get it right the first time! She did a phenomenal job of keeping the pace moving while ensuring there was time to ask questions, and redirected anything that would take us away from our goal. We had a large class, and she commanded the room while infusing confidence into each person.

Not surprised there’s negative reviews of instructors being rude. I’ve been to multiple studios in LA and NYC and never felt so disrespected. The instructor is condescending and rude. I legit felt like I was being picked on the whole class and made fun of. Even during the first few mins, the instructor said “what studio did you go to? It doesn’t seem like you’ve ever gone.” There’s no mirrors so it’s harder to follow along and then the instructor will get mad at you and say you’re not listening. Lady, I’m paying you to instruct me, not belittle me. There’s so many studios in the city, skip this one.

I Loved Eunah's class, her energy was so bright and welcoming. It was
my first tower class and I was a bit nervous but I felt at ease from
her instruction and enthusiasm.
Her movements were also well-paced and
creative, there were moves I'd never seen before. I'd love to come
again very very soon. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Monica was not encouraging and borderline verbally abusive. She started off the class by asking who was new to tower and with that knowledge went on to belittle students who were new. She says things once and doesn't give participants the opportunity to do it before screaming it repeatedly at the class. I understand the importance of safety especially when using equipment however her attitude was completely uncalled for. She also sighed and rolled her eyes when we didn't understand what she was saying. Knowing that we were first time tower students this doesn't promote an environment where I would want to return. She asked if hands on adjustments were okay (which | appreciate) but yanking and throwing someone's foot when they're not understanding the exercise is not an adjustment, and frankly unsafe. Studio was nice and clean with enough space for equipment. I would definitely come back for tower class with a different instructor
or when Monica learns to encourage students in a healthy environment.

Enjoyed the studio but my instructor, Monica, seemed like she had a bad day and was lashing out at the students. She was very aggressive and when we didn’t understand her pilates jargon she would sigh and scream… hopefully she finds better coping mechanisms and inner peace.

The pros: The instructors are knowledgeable.
The cons: The management prioritizes profits over health. Did not let me reschedule for medical reasons despite providing a doctor's note. They rather pocket the money than extend goodwill of at least rescheduling. There is a lack of knowledge and diligence from an administrative perspective. Their email inbox is full and does not receive inquiries. You can call them multiple times and leave a voicemail but they will not respond in a prompt manner.

Today is my first time to join the Tower Class for 161W 23rd St Classroom. I took a subway and came to the class ASAP but 5 mins late. The instructor Kevin not only disallow my to join without sufficient reasons but yelled at me, the first time customer. He even locked me outside of the classroom which totally escalated my negative emotions. Front desk representative Claudia is more polite even though she cannot make any decision and told me to wait for management email. The issue is still pending. But hopefully class can describe more detailed requirements online if the time rule is much stricter than other pirate classes. Also, please train your instructor temper management for new clients. It is not very easy to arrive there back and forth for one hour with MTA fare in such a cold weather. Warm words can help.

Power Pilates has several excellent instructors however due to distance I take their live stream classes. Lately their IT department has been a mess. So many technical issues and they also do not update substitute instructors until the last minute so it has been very very frustrating. I do NOT recommend wasting your money on virtual classes.

Love going to the Open Mat classes. I'm just jumping back into practicing Pilates and this has been a great way to rebuild my confidence and form. The instructors are helpful and the facility is amazing. Class sizes also aren't too large, so the instructor has the bandwidth to help correct my form which I find very helpful.

Heading to my first Pilates class and I was late ( a couple minutes due to the rain the train was moving slow) I rang the bell and a grumpy old lady opened the door and she was aggressive and claimed I was disturbing her class and slammed the door in my face.
If only she placed a sign saying she’s the only one running this / or a DND note that would have been helpful. It’s the principle and courtesy of a business owner to provide great customer service and some sort of kindness. I won’t be coming here and I will be telling my social media pages about this.

Had my first ever tower class and really enjoyed it. Linda was so welcoming and taught the class very well. I found it easy to understand as a beginner and felt supported by her. There was a lovely atmosphere to the class. Would definitely recommend especially if you're a beginner!

Absolutely love this studio - one of the reasons why I decided to pursue Pilates. The studio is clean with wide windows that reflect the morning sunshine. I’m new to Pilates and so far my experience has been very inclusive and rewarding. I love the staff specifically Kevin, who is very patient, gentle and kind to me with my lack of coordination. He is very cheerful, funny and mindful of his students injuries and states. He is one of the reasons why I come here. Perfect mood for a morning training before getting started on the day. For new beginners who feel intimidated, I highly recommend this location to get started!

I was directed to PowerPilates over 5 years ago by my friend who is a Pilates instructor. She suggested I take Kevin’s class and he has become my favorite. I almost solely take with him about 3-4 times weekly. Frequently tower class. His classes flow beautifully, his cues help me work harder, and that along with his pleasant, funny demeanor makes the time fly by! Even if you take the class virtually, he is some how able to keep an eye on all the people in the studio as well as multiple people on the screen. It’s like he has eyes in the back of his head! He has spotted my spring setting not being correct even when I am on the screen! Last year I separated my shoulder and my physical therapist said it would never get back to 100%, but Kevin patiently gave me modifications for every class and now you would never know I was injured. Kevin’s class always starts my day out right!

I’ve been a Power Pilates client since 2004. I’ve had three main instructors over the years. Currently, and for the last 9 years, I work with Kevin. Kevin is a great teacher. As I age, he understands that I’m not as flexible and strong as I once was. He’s always quick to supply a work around and encouraging on my good days. His classes are sharp and his running monologue is funny. I like the combination of on site and virtual classes. He’s my Pilates “Person”

My pregnant wife came home today crying because she was bullied by an instructor. The instructor went on a power trip and forced her to do an exercise she was not comfortable with or leave the class. She made it clear she was pregnant and then he pried into personal questions. If someone is not comfortable doing something you leave it period. This place is pathetic. I would not recommend to anyone who is pregnant/ injured/disable. 0 stars never coming back

Linda led a fantastic tower class this morning and paid close attention to form with hands on adjustments, which is so crucial for Pilates. Studio space is bright and airy and they have several different machines. Great location, and I’m looking forward to coming back to take more classes!
