All of the Upper East Side studios are incredibly inviting and foster an inclusive setting for individuals of all ages and abilities. For workouts focusing on engaging the full body, toning up, and killer core work, there’s are no better classes to take. Highly recommend Pure Barre for everyone!

Long overdue review but I just wanted to shout out my two favorite instructors Jordan and Amanda. Depends on the time I want to get up on a Sunday but I always end up taking their classes and always wanting to go back because of them. Such a great place for the girlies and just so empowering with not only the workout but the way both of these instructors speak to their class. Remembering your name and hyping you up to help you keep going. I leave class every time feeling stronger and more confident. There’s nothing like barre and nothing like these two wonderful instructors. They truly are great 🩷

If you want to do something challenging and fun, come to Pure Barre. Classes are great and instructors are even better. I started off by taking a free class that they offer to everyone and before leaving bought a membership. I would recommend Pure Barre to everyone.

I love this studio! Have been going since 2023, everyone is so nice and warm. The studio itself has so many thoughtful touches, perfectly compacted to fit the NYC constraints of space (including changing rooms with exactly what you need + a safe spot to charge your devices)
Special shoutout to Julia who I can always count on to adjust my form and explain the science behind each position but seriously love all the instructors. Thanks pure barre on 89th & Lex for being such a fantastic third space ❤️❤️

Fantastic classes and studio. The front desk personnel are personable and kind. I was able to take a Saturday morning class with Alex and I had a great workout, I felt like it challenged my muscles and focused on all of the right places.
Thank you.

I started attending Pure Barre through ClassPass after years of doing Pilates and wanting to push myself in a new way. I was immediately terrible at it—but I was also immediately hooked. The welcoming atmosphere, the incredibly patient and encouraging instructors, and the constant challenge drew me in right away. It didn’t take long before I became a full member!
What I love most is that every class format brings something different—each one pushes you in a new way, and I truly can’t pick a favorite. The classes are always engaging, and I leave every single one feeling stronger and better than when I walked in.
The studio itself is so well run, which can’t be said for every fitness space. Classes start on time, they’re consistent, and I’ve never had to worry about last-minute class cancellations. There’s a strong sense of reliability and care that makes the whole experience even better.
While we all have our favorite instructors, what sets Pure Barre apart is knowing that no matter who’s teaching, the class will be fantastic. I really can’t recommend it enough!
And special shoutout to Ryan who always makes us giggle so much :)

I’ve been here 34 times and I started back in January and I love it! Everyone here is so nice, kind and supportive. The teachers are amazing and inspiring and the other people in my classes are also friendly. The environment here is one of the best places I have ever been for exercise classes. Thank you Pure Barre!!

I signed up for the free introductory class here and it was really good. The difficulty level was pretty high but I can see this being very beneficial and effective for someone who is good at this. I didn’t feel very confident about my core capabilities after the class but I figured over time, that could possibly get better. The teacher was pretty fast paced and efficient with time. This was my first time trying barre so Im definitely appreciative of the experience. The only thing that wasn’t attractive were the prices. Each class is about $37, but they do have packages for frequent members.
I don’t think this exercise is quite for me but I would encourage others to at least try it out once and I would recommend this place, it would be perfect for that. There are two bathrooms, changing areas and one studio for workouts. Thanks again for the experience!

Very clean studio. Small class size, instructors move around to ensure correct form, offer options & encouragment. 50 minutes are just the right amount for a class. Free trial class on Sundays to see what the classes are like.

11012024 Update: want to give a shout out to all the wonderful folks who are flexible & cover classes when issues happen to the regularly scheduled instructors. THANK YOU... because of your efforts I've not missed a class due to coverage! Lots of other businesses can't make the same claim! Thanks Te3gan, Natalie, Ella, Julia, Collier, Rocky & Alex F (only a little) for being consistent & making PB hard but rewarding!
The folks who work here are just lights that shine a little brighter... they'll brighten your day too. Love the format, just need some TLC / finish on the facilities!

Pure Barre 88 is definitely the best work out place to go to! I have been taking classes there for about 4 years and I love it as much as the first time. Not only the work out changed me physically, but it also motivated me to prioritize self care. The teachers are always there to help you and challenge you in a gentle way. It’s always a pleasure to see the friendly face at the front desk No matter who it is. To top it all our manager Allison is absolutely the best. I just love my 88th studio and definitely recommend it!

The staff here is really friendly, but the studio is uncomfortably over booked in the evenings. I’m really excited that things are starting to reopen but crowded rooms still feel uncomfortable, not to mention the fact that we’re so packed in it’s hard to do certain exercises when you’re concerned about kicking your neighbor. It also makes it harder to get form corrections from the instructors as they can only have eyes on so many people at once. That being said, many instructors have recently gotten amazing (a payoff from virtual?) at giving very helpful verbal cues this year.
It’s already a tricky space they’re working with, and when you arrive while the other class is leaving it’s a logistical zoo. The bathrooms here are great, but the changing rooms are not stocked with the typical amenities (wet wipes, spray deodorant, dry shampoo), if you can even find space in one, as everyone is crowded into the waiting area.
I’ll probably be moving my evening classes to a larger studio, I don’t even bother with morning classes anymore as there’s no space to properly freshen up before work. WFH ending for so many of us is putting a stress on these limited spaces.
On the plus side, they do have the best clothing selection at this location, if you’re looking to add a cute new outfit to the mix, consider checking out the clothing at this spot.

I’ve been coming here for > 2 years and have always had a great experience. I switched to Pure Barre from Bar Method when I moved to the UES and even though there were some differences, I thought it was not hard to adjust. The front desk staff has always been friendly and accommodating. Very surprised at some of the negative reviews because Allison definitely goes out of her way to accommodate! The environment is very inclusive and community oriented. All the teachers are awesome and motivational, though each has their own style. Love that they do challenges to keep things interesting too. In my opinion, the best barre studio in Manhattan!

The music is WAY too loud. The microphone on the instructor was WAY too loud. There were only two of us in a small room and I felt like I was working out at a Bar Mitzvah party. I walked out with my ears ringing. Not my kind of workout.

The worst costumer service I’ve ever had to experience. I called last week to report two cancellation fees on my card and was told I will be refund but as a week passed by I didn’t see any refund in my bank so I called again and was greeted with an attitude from Allison in which she said I canceled a class 03/13/21 14mins before class. I told her that would be impossible because I was in that class that day and I checked my email and have proof there was no class canceled for that day she insisted that the mistake was on my end after I told 3 times I never canceled that day then she accused me of harassment for wanting my money back for something I didn’t cancel then she yelled and hung up the phone on me. I have to call my bank because this is fraud especially when I have proof of not canceling. I do not recommend Pure barre not only is their late policy unethical but the whole atmosphere is unfriendly and fake.

My favorite place! The instructors are so supportive and provide great instructions. The workouts have many levels to meet you where you currently are in your fitness journey. And great music! Covid precautions are prioritized while still maintaining a sense of normalcy. They've really rolled with the punches throughout the pandemic, from changing class sizes and distancing to outdoor classes. It's s great community, impactful workout, highlight of my day!

Friendly staff, good teachers, clean studio. My only complaint is they seem to book too many people per class. It’s always super crowded and people are practically close enough to hit or kick each other doing certain parts of the class.

Everyone is very friendly and the studio is clean. However, the classes are always jam packed and very crowded (no matter what time of day you sign up for). This makes it hard for the instructors to both demonstrate moves and give personal attention to correct form simultaneously.
