When I first started, I was carrying trauma, chronic pain, and exhaustion. In just a few months, I’ve gained more movement, more energy, and real breakthroughs that I knew were possible, but didn’t know how to achieve. I needed guidance and help. In my 20s I did strength training and yoga and ate a healthy diet, not always consistently, but enough to mostly maintain a sense of good health and well-being. Now, so many years later, as I approached and moved through menopause, things felt completely different. I’ve been struggling with autoimmune and menopause symptoms, with excess weight, and often feeling stuck. A friend was working with Jonathan in his Breathe Move Nourish (BMN) program. It sounded like what I needed. I truly had no idea, what I was signing up for, and I’m so grateful I took the leap.
Jonathan’s work is a fusion of strength training, breathwork, energy medicine, and deep spiritual guidance. It’s not about pushing harder—it’s about learning how to actually listen to your body.
Working with Jonathan and BMN, I’m unlearning years of perfectionism that I didn’t realize still had such a strong hold on me. In the past I would often push myself to exhaustion or injury, and then quit my movement program for months or years, until I would try again, and repeat the whole process of pushing, injury, and quitting.
Coming back to a movement practice with BMN, I didn’t realize I carried such a preconception of what movement was supposed to be. I didn’t even realize how much I had taken that push mentality, that “no pain, no gain”, into my former yoga practice, even after decades of meditation, spiritual practice, and restorative yoga.
BMN has allowed me to progress not only in movement—both moving again and how I relate to my body in motion—but also has positively impacted other areas of my life. My immune system is stronger, I feel more resilient, and many of those stories of “too old” are slipping away. This program helped me realize that I don’t want to be a spectator in my own life. I want to travel, hike, dance, and live fully, like I used to—and now I have the strength and confidence to do that again. In recent travels, I’ve moved—hiked and walked and in general had stamina - in ways I haven’t in nearly a decade.
And through 9 months of this program, I have had massive stress and setbacks, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, the types of things that in the past would have led me to flee, to quit whatever movement program I was in. I’m sure some part of me was trying to repeat that old pattern, but Jonathan wouldn’t let that happen. He stayed by my side, with gentle encouragement when that was what I needed, and adjusted my personal program each step of the way.

I joined BMN looking for a quick fix but what I got was so much deeper and lasting.
I no longer define myself by my weight. My clothes fit better, I am sleeping better and I can go up and down the stairs without pain.
I used to feel like I was watching life from the sidelines and now I feel confident and energized to join in.
Yes I have lost weight but more important is what I have gained. The program has taught me to prioritize myself. I have learned to move with awareness, regulate my emotions and feel good in my own skin. It has allowed me the opportunity to grow stronger both physically and emotionally.

I never used to put myself first—until now.
As a mom of three with a packed schedule and a long history of putting everyone else’s needs before my own, I never imagined I’d stick with a virtual coaching program. But working with Jonathan has completely changed the way I relate to my body, my energy, and my self-worth.
I didn’t join because I wanted to lose weight or look a certain way—I joined because I needed to get off autopilot. I was stuck in patterns of bottling up emotions, over-functioning, and second-guessing myself. I originally joined his program thinking it was just access to some Qigong classes. What I found was so much more.
Over the last 27 months, I’ve learned how to move with greater awareness and intention—without pushing through pain or injuring myself. As someone who has always been highly motivated to move, what I actually needed was to move less, but smarter and in new ways.
With Jonathan’s guidance, I’ve developed a new relationship with my body. My chronic knee and shoulder pain have improved significantly, and I’ve gained the confidence to keep moving safely as I age.
One of the biggest shifts has been in my sleep. I used to get 5–6 hours a night, often waking up and spiraling with anxious thoughts. Now, I regularly sleep 7–8 hours, and I use the tools I learned—like internal Qigong, “cooling breaths,” and energy meditation—to go back to sleep. As a side effect… my anger issues have largely resolved themselves. It’s amazing what sleep can do for our overall health and mood.
His approach also helped me develop a more accepting relationship with my body. I may not love how it looks every day, but I respect its strength and mobility. Living in a place like Boulder where extreme fitness is the norm, that mindset shift was huge for me.
The group experience was surprisingly powerful too. I’m more of a private person, but I found deep connection through the community and group calls.
Jonathan's virtual program gave me a toolkit I’ll use for the rest of my life: breathwork, movement, boundaries, affirmations, strength training, and self-regulation practices that actually work.
I highly recommend this program for anyone who wants to feel stronger, calmer, and more in tune with their body—especially if you’re tired of pushing and ready to feel instead.

I was looking for someone to help me get in shape to meet my general health goals and in support my sports activities as an older individual. The Primal Dance workshop was unlike anything I’ve done before. Jonathan is super knowledgeable and made learning how to crawl and roll on the ground fun and satisfying. My posture improved immediately.

Mothers need love and care too but unfortunately are often the last in line. It's so clear that Jonathan loves and values mothers, what a relief! His presence always has a calming, comforting effect on me, not exactly a common quality for personal trainers.
I'm someone who loves working hard (I'm a 2x Golden Gloves silver medalist) but rather than push me into over training, Jonathan was very holistic and systematic in his approach.
First, he really helped me heal from the trauma of pregnancy/IVF and set up the foundation for me to be healthier and stronger than ever. We focused on primal movement, energy medicine (Qigong), and healing touch to help me reconnect to my body and increase my energy.
I enjoy being touched but after multiple rounds of IVF and giving birth to twins I was definitely exhausted and under nourished sensually. The healing touch Jonathan does is just the right kind; it helped me relax deeply for the first time since becoming a mother, better appreciate my body and feel more comfortable in it, breathe better, and even improved my intuition.
Jonathan's approach is high touch and intimate. He always gets consent first and meets me where I'm at each day, even though where I'm at shifts dramatically throughout my menstrual cycle.
Many of the techniques Jonathan taught me not only helped me personally but are tools that I use with my own children. For instance, the acupressure points for decreasing nausea helped me feel much better, and I also use them with my children when they need it.
He has such a playful spirit and this helped wake up my own inner child and made me a more joyful, playful mother.
This pleasure based approach gave me the abundance of energy I need to start working hard again and get back into fighting shape.”

For the longest time, I was experiencing constant lower back pain. It eventually became a "normal" circumstance that I got used to living with, and I almost forgot what it felt like to live without it. With a few consistent morning ground exercises from the Primal practice, my pain subsided until it could hardly be felt at all. It has also expanded my knowledge of how my body can perform and train in the most efficient manner, which has carried over to my dance training. I'm feeling more in-tune with my body than ever before. My core strength has improved, my overall balance is better, and I feel extremely grounded. I'm carrying over the principles emphasized into my dancing -- mainly leading with the breath and working WITH pain, rather than against it.
Jonathan has shifted my approach to strength training. Rather than intensely abusing isolated areas of the body in a traditional gym setting, ground-based work that calls on all areas of the body to perform as one machine has shown me how to truly implement maximum efficiency with the least amount of effort. With those understandings, the sky feels like the limit!

The work I am doing with Jonathan is transformative— in every sense of the word— I feel it on a physical, emotional and spiritual level . I was very surprised to discover that “ gentle work”, “tuning in” and “ease” would be the entry points to a healthy body and lifestyle (instead of hard work, effort, and pain!). I continue to be fascinated by the power of this sensitive, unconventional approach.
I feel joy and comfort when I work with Jonathan and his virtual classes are fun. I learned to shift my focus toward movements and actions that nourish and activate my energy, so I can produce and give more energy toward the things that i love (my music, my work, my friendships, outdoor activities, etc). I learned to "move opportunistically", finding moments to practice simple movements that connect me to my body and its energy throughout the day.
My initial starting point was losing weight. Today, I feel lighter, healthier, and am pain free! I can't recall the last time my body felt pain free without external interventions. My digestion and elimination are better and my appreciation for my body is increasing daily. I am loving this work, and I am more and more fascinated with its impact on my body and mood. It feels like coming back home, where it feels good and safe :-)

“Jonathan’s Energy Medicine classes have produced some dramatic results for me in a short amount of time. I was sleeping terribly for days and started having panic attacks after being diagnosed Covid+.
After the very first session, my anxiety decreased significantly and I slept like a baby that night, and woke up with half the headache I normally have. Since then, I haven’t had to use Tylenol for my headaches for days.
On a deeper level, one week of classes has even changed my relationship to my body; I’ve learned how to use gentle touch to bring calmness, how to use breathing and subtle movement to relieve anxiety, and I have better energy and focus.
I think all health care workers - especially nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists and social workers - would benefit greatly from this practice. By day 6 I felt great in my body and ready to go back to work, while many of my younger co-workers are battling through symptoms on Day 17 and beyond.

What an amazing event that Jonathan hosted for my 11 year old daughter’s birthday! American Ninja Obstacle course that balance strength building, team collaboration and balance. I highly recommend this type of event for future kids parties - all of the kids loved competing and cheered each other on throughout. They especially enjoyed being with someone who has competed on America Ninja Warrior.

I felt truly GREAT after just one Primal Energy session. For the entire rest of the day I was energized and happy. I had a great nite's sleep (which has been rare for me recently). I like that the practice is so simple and so easy. If I can do it, anyone can! My shoulder is definitely feeling better. I don't have the excruciating pain that was becoming commonplace every day! I've lost 11 pounds and 4.25 inches from my waist in 1 month! But the most surprising thing about Jonathan's "Primal Shred" program is how gentle yet powerful the movements are; they aren't hard and feel good.
