Transition from blink to puregym has been a headache. Recently got charged at an increased rate without being notified, including new maintenance fees. No customer service line and you can't even cancel your membership or look over your charges with a staff member once you're at the gym. Everything is done through the app for what they call a "user driven experience" let's give it up for the boardroom execs that came up with a new phrase for "shitty service". Staff on location is very nice but this company sucks.

TL;dr: go to a different PureGym location if you want to be able to use your phone.
Been a member here for several years, since it was Blink. The gym is well-appointed equipment-wise. However, their Wi-Fi consistently doesn't work and the place is a giant concrete box so mobile data is useless if you're not right up front. I have to turn off WiFi to even check in because the app won't load. I've complained multiple times about this over the years, and gotten responses from blaming the ISP to dead air.

Hi, I’m really frustrated with how the Blink → PureGym transition was handled at Gates Ave. My membership was cut mid-month, my info deleted, and I was told to start over with a new plan. The gym was chaotic, multiple members were complaining, and staff were left handling something way above their pay grade.
It’s not fair to charge me a joining fee after this disruption. I’ll pay monthly, but I expect the joining fee waived and to be put on the $22 plan. Please fix this asap.

Unpretentious and inclusive, a good value for the price. It gets crowded at certain times but usually you can get on the equipment you want. My wife thinks some of the other nearby locations are cleaner but I think it's fine.

The people at this gym have the worst etiquette. People hoard equipment and the staff do absolutely nothing to combat this. Im pretty pissed about how this new acquisition happened with Pure Gym. And please Blink, spare me the response because I see them all over these reviews and they are not helpful at all.
I have been signed up for this gym for a while paying $26 a month to visit multiple locations in Brooklyn. Pure gym comes through and we have to get a new app. Ok cool no problem. But then I walk into the gym a couple weeks later and they said my membership has been canceled. And that I have to sign up again. I asked well, that’s not my fault what do I do? They said it’s because I didn’t have a Credit card on file. This info was nowhere and no one at the gym had said anything about making sure to do that so that our accounts would stay secure. Very sneaky of them because now I am forced to sign up for a new membership which is now $30 and that’s not including taxes and fees, a $20 sign up fee as well AND with that same membership I had before, I now can’t get guest access.
I see you Blink. And what am I going to do? I’m going to sign back up because I have no choice and this is the world we live in. I just came on here to basically complain and yell at a wall because that’s what it feels like to work with Blinks customer service. So thanks a lot yall for giving me a headache and good for you for slightly scamming people. Congrats.

I was denied entry to the Gates location today, and therefore, I'm changing the 5-star review I posted a few weeks ago to 1 star.
My Blink story started at the Stuyvesant Heights location about a year and a half ago. I got my Blue membership and was very excited to work out at this great gym (which it used to be). I was happy to write a 5-star review for them. Everything was going well, and I was very happy with this location. My work hours mean I go to the gym during the busiest times, so about half a year ago, I gladly signed up for an additional $10 a month for the "premium" machines, which are usually not occupied.
That was working for quite a while until the A/C drama at the Stuyvesant Heights location began. I'd say it was about three months ago when the A/C on the second floor stopped working (and it hasn't worked since), creating a real sauna inside. I tried to work out there three times during the summer, but the heat was unbearable, so I left after five minutes each time. I was still very positive, thinking they simply had temporary issues that would be solved soon.
I found the Bushwick location, which isn't as close, but I didn't mind. I visited and liked it, despite the fact that it gets even busier than Stuyvesant Heights and doesn't have the premium machines for which I was paying an extra $10 a month. I wasn't able to do anything except for cardio and legs. I still thought that location was great and gave it 5 stars. Then I found the Gates location. It is quite a hike for me, but I didn't lose my positivity for a second. I went there and loved it (another 5-star review). I'm a really easy-going person.
Overall, for the last three months, I've been using Blink 2-3 times a month at most (I used to go to the Stuyvesant location about four times a week when the A/C was working). I arranged to do some basic workouts at home in between. It's a bit weird paying $40 a month for that, but I thought that in just a month or two, they would finally fix the A/C or the temperature outside would change, so I could go back to my nearby location. I was nothing but understanding, positive, and polite.
Today, I was looking forward to visiting the Gates location again. While entering the building and trying to log in to the mobile app, I got an error but didn't think it was a big deal since I reached the front desk at the same time. I was informed that I needed a new app. I politely asked, "Could you please look me up? I have a membership," and showed them my ID. The response was, "I'm sorry. We don't do this. You need a new app."
I stood there for a few seconds and quickly checked for app updates, but there was nothing there. I then understood that I needed to download a completely new app. I was about to look for it, but then thoughts started coming to my head. Hold on. For the last three months, I've been jumping through hoops trying to remain a happy Blink customer. This was the last straw. I'm not doing it. I was just denied entry, just like that.

I am very happy with my experience at Blink. The facility is moderately quiet, the people are friendly and nice, the equipment is well kept and modern. The restrooms are clean and seat covers are always provided. It's a great place to workout.

Even at around 50% capacity, it’s almost impossible to use basic equipment in this gym. You end up waiting 15-20 minutes between sets for stuff like bench press, leg machines, chest flys, etc. Meanwhile, more than half the cardio machines sit empty — especially the bikes, which barely get touched but take up a huge chunk of the floor.
It’s not just me — I’ve talked to other members, and everyone’s frustrated about the same thing. Would be great if management actually rebalanced the equipment layout and replaced some of the useless cardio machines with gear people actually need.

It's a gym. Staff is friendly and the gym goers at this location are mostly courteous, clean, and chill, but the place is way overcrowded a lot of the time (good luck getting on the cable crossover machine). Music is loud and obnoxious. Bring earbuds.

This place consistently has the temp set at like 75. I'm sweating a minute into my workout. They don't manage people being obnoxious. There's an abundance of people who refuse to wear deodorant at this location. Their wifi is trash -- It's usually too slow to connect. The place is clean and most machines work so 1 star for that. I go to this gym regularly and haven’t had many issues. The staff are nice and the crowd ain’t too bad. You’ll occasionally get the one person hogging a machine and not being entirely up front about how much longer they’ll be on it, but that rarely happens in my experience.
I have been having issues with their seated hamstring curl machine. The cushion that goes over your quads is split and cracked in a few different ways and hasn’t been changed even though I’ve brought it to the attention of the staff. Every time I use it, it leaves a bruise type mark on my thighs that’ll last a day or so. I’ve been brining a towel to protect myself from it but sometimes I forget it and am forced to face the cracked cushion again. This is what it usually looks like after I use it. Hoping management sees this review and does something about it.

The staff consistently works to keep the machines & space clean. Sometimes there aren’t enough of a machine or weight and people sit around for a while. I wish guests would rerack correctly and not leave things laying around. Leave it the way you want to find it.

I set reasonably low standards for a budget gym like this for course but i feel like lately it has been unreasonably bad. Like even though i get there bright and early at 6am to beat the crowd, I feel like there is not enough equipment available to get through a workout. I am considering canceling because the only things regularly available are free-weights, which i guess i could just do at home.
The one thing they did have in-stock was treadmills. But now most are unavailable all morning for cleaning???
This combined with a lack of encouragement of polite and safe behavior makes me dread coming to this gym. If anyone has any recommendations for places open early to workout near the Gates J stop lmk 💕💕

The staff at this gym is rude. I can tell management changed since beginning of last year because you notice the difference. Back maybe 1-2 years ago there was this black manager guy with glasses that was always there, very polite, walking around the gym and all the staff use to be so nice. NOW, it feels like kids running the gym and you can tell. I go to this blink because of the convenience of it being by my home, but I am always uncomfortable going because of the service provide. I now go to the one on knickerbocker or Myrtle because their service is much better and friendly staff, but it’s such an inconvenience to travel. The staff at the Gates location shuts the music off 30-1hour before closing. They yell at everyone in the gym at 10pm saying they are going to close the locker rooms at 10:30pm, when they actually close at 11. NEVER experienced anything like that before. On Tuesday night 3/11 the staff even shut off the lights in the locker room while me and other people were in the locker rooms getting dressed at closing! It was so uncomfortable and frightening. I was told to look into that to see if it’s a lawsuit. Additionally, yesterday afternoon I was turned away because their card systems were down and they said they are not able to charge my card for balance for March of $30. After I’ve been with blink for 4 years and one $30 payment that was their issue on their side, I had to turn back around and leave. One of the girls there offered NO solution and seems to not care at all. I only pay for a membership with blink because of its convenience of it being right next to my home. But being that I never go to the gates location because it is so unprofessional and feels like kids are running it, what is the point of having a membership here if I’m forced to travel to a better location. I can just go with a different gym that provides great service and amenities and up to date equipment. PLEASE GET NEW MANAGEMENT TO TRAIN THE STAFF THERE. This is the only gym I go to where the staff is not friendly and make things uncomfortable for people working out there especially at closing time.

Imagine your membership being canceled BY THE GYM and then they keep trying to charge your card (locked 😉) for a $40 “cancellation fee” almost everyday for two weeks although THEY cancelled… keep up the fraud & good luck sending to collections.
Also, according to the gym worker who answered the phone today, if you sign up during a promotion for a month, on let’s say January 10th & if there’s a different promotion Feb 1st, apparently, the promo you signed up for in January doesn’t matter anymore. HUH? That literally makes no sense. The original promo should be active until Feb 10th or am I crazy?

I would highly recommend trying some training sessions with Matthew Danner. I’ve been training with him for a year and he’s transformed my body! I feel so relieved and supported because I can just follow his plan and I don’t have to stress over it. Plus, I feel like I’ve learned a lot from him and am much more comfortable in the gym on my own because of our training.
Otherwise, this Blink has everything you need and the staff are super nice. I would definitely recommend trying it out.

The gym environment feels disorganized and unsafe. Gym bags and backpacks are scattered throughout the facility, which defeats the purpose of having lockers and creates potential tripping hazards—I almost tripped on one myself. Additionally, the prevalence of influencers filming with tripod setups adds to the disruption, creating the impression of a film studio rather than a fitness center. While the gym is often overcrowded, I must commend the staff, who are consistently friendly and professional.

Decent layout and well-maintained facilities for a chain, if often a little too busy.
One star because of the gym’s insane cancellation policies. Had to provide a bunch of arbitrarily determined documentation to cancel my “no-commitment” membership without getting charged a termination fee, and when I managed to gather and send in the docs they revoked my gym access immediately rather than at the end of the current pay period, as I had explicitly requested. Won’t be returning to Blink in the future, except maybe as a guest.

A lot of work out groups go here too so it’ll be like 4 people crowded around one bench, smith machine, etc. The staff is nice so I gave them an extra star but other than that, not worth checking out.

Went there for 3 years. Towards the tail end I lost some AirPods in there and went back to retrieve them. Followed “find my” two blocks away with some blink employees getting lunch. They denied having them and I followed it back to blink and told the manger to help me get them back. She took the staff to a room to interrogate (“find my” pointing me to that room)but it was so awkward I just wanted to leave. The manager pretended to care but honestly the staff just embarrassed themselves over my 200 dollar AirPods. I quit shortly after- no one asked why or tried to keep me on. It’s not a great area, and while they did update the equipment, it’s all geared towards very casual lifters and gym goers. It kinda sucked.

Blink facilities are always clean and well-kept, and the environment is friendly and motivating. There’s plenty of equipment, so it’s easy to mix up your workouts and keep things interesting.
I’ve been training with Teddy at Blink this year to get leaner and more toned, and it’s been an awesome experience. He just knows exactly what your body needs and how to push you toward your goals. Every session feels really purposeful and tailored, and I’ve made great progress thanks to his guidance and encouragement.

Teddy is not only a fantastic trainer but also one of the kindest people you’ll meet. Everyone at Blink knows and loves him, and he brings such great energy to the gym.
As for the gym itself, Blink is always clean, welcoming, and well-equipped with friendly staff and plenty of space.

Gym is relatively nice and the front desk people are nice, but there are a few issues that should be addressed to make it a better place for everyone. 1. The music is super loud, even with noise cancelling headphones turned up it’s hard to escape it. 2. It’s generally too crowded, and a lot of machines are only one or two of each so you gotta wait around for a good while, why not make a simple cue system for the busiest machines with time limits? Or why not replace some of the cardio equipment which takes up half the gym and is never used close to capacity, and add more of the machines everyone wait forever for?

Decent gym but this review is about the “real time gym capacity” it never shows anything for saturday and sunday. I’ve been to 5-6 different blink locations and it doesn’t ever show unless i purposely select it. Also, I can say for sure it is not real time because it is almost always packed and it will say less than 25% full. I’ve seen a couple locations that don’t make everyone check in which will throw off the real time capacity and not helpful.

Kriss Pino is a super dedicated attentive and punctual trainer who has transformed my body through weekly sessions for coming on four years. I’ve been going to this blink for nearly 2 years & have always had positive experiences with a variety of different equipment, friendly staff & solid interactions with other guests. The highlight has been training with Krishna whom I’ve been seeing 2-3 times per week since August 2023. He consistently challenges me while also motivating me where I’m lifting more than I ever thought possible. Squats, deadlifts & barely bench press were in my vocabulary before. I have been training with Krishna for almost 3 years. He is a phenomenal trainer and continues to challenge me with new workouts after all this time. I need this gym to be closer to me. I’ve been seeing him for over a year now—best investment ever. He’s become a friend over the course of my fitness journey. He’s so hard to get time with these days but that speaks to how many clients he has who probably love him just as much. I’ve referred two friends to him that now train with him and have met lots of great people thru him who also live in the neighborhood.

I've been consistently working out here for a little over 2 years. They just upgrades the equipment sooo Yaaaaay. It's close to home... I walk. And the hours are great! The best part is my Trainer Krishna. I've had several trainers over the last .... a long time 👀 at various gyms... none have been able to keep me interested. He is wonderful, consistent.. he pushes you but pays attention to things like injuries. I've seen my strength increase and the pain from injuries decrease.

On my journey on going to many different Blink gyms as possible. This location, while not the most condensed but I've been to bigger. My main one in Ozone Park is 35% bigger in comparison. I do give this place credit, either that or I got lucky, all of the machines were in working order and despite the crowdedness of the place, I didn't have to wait exceptionally long to get to a machine. All in all, above average.

They’ve just replaced all of their equipment with the worst quality replacements. Many of the essential machines have design flaws. They also removed several key machines and did not replace them. Cannot wait for a competitor to come to the neighborhood!

I’ve been a member at this location for over 7 years and in the past year or so it has become almost impossible to work out because of how crowded it has become. These last couple of months have been the worst. I wish they would stop accepting new members or put time limits on some of the equipment. I’ve waited an hour for the smith machine. The squat racks are always occupied. The new equipment is nice but now there seems to be less of everything and the most crowded area (free weight zone) is now even more crowded. It feels like they are hindering instead of helping people achieve their fitness goals. I spend so much time lurking around waiting for equipment to open up instead of actually working out. And I leave feeling frustrated instead of satisfied. Just about ready to quit and find a new gym. The big plus and reason for two stars is that it is very clean and the people who work here are super friendly. Just the franchise owners who seem oblivious. They only care about making money, and don’t actually care about the satisfaction of their members.

The gym here is absolutely fantastic, it’s not too busy. However, if you do lose your phone or anything valuable be prepared to not be able to get it immediately. The little girl and the woman with the glasses are terrible when it comes to helping looking for your items. We lost a phone and someone thankfully gave it up to the front and when asked, someone turned it in and they straight up said its not in our lost and found drawer and they didn’t bother to look anywhere else in their front desk. The entire time it was under their computer the moment we found a way to alert a loud noise. All the other employees here are great and nice as well. Them? Eh, not so much, hoping they maybe change a bit.

The Gym is great. It’s the hidden fees and the fact that you’re not able to call anyone when there is a problem except the local branch which can’t help you many times.
The $10month promotion has a $20 start fee and then a $60 yearly fee on top of dues. They should be upfront about this.
And they should have a phone number you can call with any membership problems.

I’ve been coming to this location for a few years on and off. Overall the staff is kind and the space is clean. Can get a bit crowded but that’s the nature since there are not many gyms in the area. To make the most of my time, I find it super helpful to work with a trainer. I’ve worked with Craig who’s amazing and now Diana, who is super knowledgeable, motivating and professional. I always leave feeling accomplished!

Worst experience as a personal trainer. First Katie and Ari take over two weeks to get my uniform and materials ready, which took away potential pay from me. This gym can't even afford to get their trainers the right uniforms. Then Ari tries to blackmail me by secretly recording me with her phone. These managers are some of the most incompetent people I've ever worked for. Now, they've blackballed me from future job opportunities. This gym is a joke for anyone trying to become a serious personal trainer. I highly recommend looking somewhere else.
Update: I recently had to file 6 months worth of chargebacks because they are still charging me for a membership. How am I supposed to cancel if I can't return to the gym? This franchise is a parasite in the neighborhood.

I’ve been coming for a little over a year.
This gym is… adequate, considering that it’s only $10 a month.
But there are some negatives:
-extremely loud (and bad, garbage top 40) music at inhumane volumes. I can’t even hear my own headphones over it they play it so loud
-extremely crowded. It doesn’t matter if it’s summer, winter, 10am, 10pm, 8pm, or noon. You WILL be waiting for every single piece and type of equipment in here.
-speaking of which, the equipment constantly is broken and out of order.
In conclusion, this gym is fine for the price, but they mainly survive cause they’re the only gym in the neighborhood.

So many of the machines are just broken, with no word on when they will be fixed. It’s at the point where I cannot complete exercise routines and need to visit another location.
There’s are groups of men here who hog sets of machines for at least an hour without letting anyone work in. They essentially bully people out of being able to work out here. There aren’t any other options for gyms nearby so it is incredibly disappointing the one near me is actively hostile and unusable.

Nice staff but every machine is broken in some way, if not completely out of order at Blink. If the machine isn’t missing a knob on the adjuster, it’s missing some other critical part that prevents you from doing your workout. Sometimes it doesn’t feel safe to adjust the machine because of the broken parts. The Blink gym really needs to fix it before someone gets hurt. I foresee that as a major liability. In addition, the pads on the machines either slide off entirely or have the leather ripped off. The worst part is that everything is so easily fixable for such a large corporate company like Blink. It’s frustrating to see Blink building a new Blink just down the road on Broadway when they could easily send resources to improve the quality at the Blink Gates gym. Sad for me to leave such a bad review/reviews of the Blink gym near me.

Dear Blink management, you must encourage control and have systems for everyone to feel safe,comfortable and respected in their spaces.
It's been a while for me at this gym since covid. It doesn't feel safe and comfortable anymore. They are particular groups of men in this gym who are regularly working out, and not sure why they seem like they hang around for extended periods. They are retaining the machines for their friends. Some of them seem aggressive and disrespectful. I was on a thread mill today and noticed one of them bullying and slurring words to a woman because she would not get off the machine he was not using earlier and walked off to chat with someone else. I was like, “Wow.”He covers his face all the time and act aggressively.
Some of the members also are not easy when using the machine. They sit on them and inconvenience other people. You are not using it; move and sit elsewhere so others can use it.

This is a good gym in a great location…. But there’s one thing I absolutely cannot get past. The entire back half of the gym smells like a litter box. Every time I step to the back I am completely assaulted with the scent of urine. The first time I thought maybe I was just crazy, but my husband smells it too. It’s so strong it’s hard to overcome.
