Retro Fitness in Farmingdale is a great gym. Great selection of equipment, great hours. The owner is such a great guy. He really cares about his customers. All of the staff is also really great and very welcoming. Love it here at Retro Farmingdale

I’m reading some of these reviews and find myself confused. This gym is awesome. The staff is amazing, the equipment works, they have tons of classes that you can register for ahead of time online - also receive email reminders the classes. They have babysitting which is a God send for me and my daughter loves it. They have meditation, physical therapy, tanning, and work-out shakes. I get all of this for such a low cost. The location is great. On sundays I work out and then pop next door to to Giuntas and buy my groceries to meal prep with.

The gym is kept very clean, has a personal touch and you can go to any Retro gym with your membership . It has an excellent, positive, energetic workout environment. Music is upbeat and keeps the positive energy flowing. The staff is very personable, friendly, encouraging and always willing to help. They are also upgrading the gym and I am very excited about the changes that are coming. All this for $19.99 a month!
The Personal Training staff is Top notch, creative in with there workout routines and very motivating.
AWESOME Team Training room and workouts!!!
Plenty of equipment to use to train long, strong and hard.

I’ve been an extremely happy member since they opened. It has been the same positive atmosphere for Many Years. From Dr. J. , Manager Debbie, And the entire staff. If anything is temporarily broken, it’s fixed immediately and is always clean. To have affordable day care as well and amazing facilitators, it’s been a blessing for me and my son. He’s learning to interact w other kids before kindergarten while I get my hour to myself for mental decompression time. Never leaving!! So grateful for this place and thank you. Sincerely Dave White

It's a clean gym with a lot of equipment for a small space. The weights section gets a bit backed up and it's a small studio for an alternative. I appreciate the number of cardio machines there are and fans!!

It's a chain gym but has a lot of equipment and plenty of free weights. Dumbells go well over 100lbs and are always racked correctly. Can get really busy at times right after work hours.

Love this place . Left for a while but don't plan on it again . Plenty of free weights hammer strength and cardio equipment. Staff is friendly . Trustworthy childcare . Doesn't have the amenities some other gyms have as far as pools etc . But if you want an actual workout and not extra nonsense its great.

Great gym and great employees. It’s clean and bright and I couldn’t ask for a better price. Yes, sometimes the machines are down for maintenance but they always are repaired quickly. The owner is also very friendly and always says hello. The other member seem nice but stay to themselves. I don’t feel self conscious going here at all. My only complaint is that it’s very busy after 5pm!
Just an example of how nice the employees and owner are: My lock got stuck on my locker (I didn’t forget the combo, the lock was faulty) not only did a wonderful employee help get it off (without breaking it) but the owner offered to give me a new one for free!
I feel that the people giving bad reviews just don’t like gyms and the people complaining about the cancellation policy shouldn’t be because they make it clear to you when you sign up how to cancel.
Also I would point out that the owners are responding these ratings and complaints which just shows how much they care about their business.
I highly recommend this gym!

This Gym sucks. They are greedy and unprofessional.
They will make sure to give you a hard time cancelling your membership.
They will promise a callback but will never do if you have complaints.
The gym smells like sweaty feet and they have old and broken equipments.
For new customers, beware! If i were you i wouldn't even consider joining retro.

So i Joined Retro in 2014, i paid on time like a good paying customer and was respectful with the Gym, i can't say i came a lot but i always paid. So i had to leave Long island for personal reasons, i reach out with an email on canceling and got some story about how far did you move or pay the 2 month of fees bla bla, well i couldn't come up with proof of address so that being said i figure they would stop payment and cancel it, now I'm being harrast for a mesly $60.00... really come on i stop going in September but still paid till November, The right thing to do was cancel it and help me get a locale gym in queens i can go to. I truly feel they are not considering customer appreciation. as per Managment you should really look at whoo your true customer are cause how i look at it the customers are the one who KEEP you in business, and by handling this in a poor matter is nothing but bad dissections. i will never step foot in a retro fitness again.

As a bodybuilder and powerlifting, this gym is great for getting in the workout you want and is also very affordable at $20 a month with a yearly contract. I go to many Retro locations based on my schedule but frequent this one the most because of it's layout, lack of crowds at night and cleanliness. I'm often there at the end of the day and the women's locker room is always pretty clean which is important to me. The machines and weights are always available unless during peak hours and there are multiples of everything including cardio machines. I'm actually surprised that other locations only have one stair master, but this one has 4. The young are friendly and try to answer any questions you ask them. Even broken machines seem to be fixed in a somewhat timely manner from what I've noticed. Oh and you can DEADLIFt loudly here and use chalk, which some other locations do not allow. Very happy with this location!👍🏾

I have not joined a gym in 10 years. Retro fitness is a nice facility. The monthly price is very affordable. I go in the morning before work. The equipment is new, the staff is very friendly. They even have a nice juice bar where you can get some good shakes. I have been there early some days and they gave out free samples. They even have a day care to watch children as you work. I have been a member for about 2 months so far and I love it.

Alot of weird fat or out of shape cruisers. Alot of annoying weird gym members. Parking is a problem with in the busy shopping area with shopping carts. The gym members can be weird.

Staff is friendly but not alway acertive with rude or weird members.

Not a gym to join if ur in great shape or athletic. You will have eyes on you and stalkers following you in the gym.

Locker room is small and not alway clean. Members can be pigs. The gym really has to be tolerated most of the time. It is not a comfortable atmosphere most of the time.

I would not reccommend this gym. I am a member of Retro Fitness at this gym but I go to another location due to what I mention here.

These cheap gym tend to attract some weird people. They are people that are older and never been in a gym most of their life. They think the gym is a social pick up bar or a place to get notice eventhough they are un attractive or grossly out of shape. They have no gym manners and really are annoying when they are in the gym and make their presents known in your face. You will find ur self adjusting ur hours to go to the gym then another weird fat un attractive one shows up.

Been a member for 3 years. club going down the drain. at least 1/2 treadmills broken this morning. this is the new norm here. machines broken constantly and not fixed for a long time. they put up a sign a few weeks ago that machines are broken because members vandalize them.... are they kidding . cardio machines are in the opening what are members doing to vandalize them?? t v dont always working .
