The retro Fitness in Pearl River is a very nice, clean and pleasnat place to work out. It's a bit more "old school" tan some of the other places but then again, there are no foolish Lunk Alarms for people who are serious about what they are doing.

I was a reluctant refugee from another gym that closed. I was trying to find a place to fit in again, and at my age, starting over is so much harder to do. Going to the gym is a life-line for me; my routine is ritualistic. An important part of the ritual is stretching on a slantboard. I searched the premises but did not see any. I enquired at the desk and the most helpful lady said she would see what she could do about getting one. The manager brought me a catalogue and said "which one do you like?" Big clean gym. Lots of free weights and machines for everyone. Two different turf areas. Large boxing area with plenty of bags. Two different areas designated for bumper plates which is nice. It gets busy but there is always room to get a workout in. Staff is friendly and keep the place nice.

Edit: After seeing this review retrofitness reached out to me and made the situation right, so I'm raising my rating to 4 stars. Still wish the hours were better, but everything else is good!

Been a member for more than a year and the gym is adequate, though the hours on weekends are poor.

Quite disappointed with the company however. I came out on top of the March challenge and was supposed to have won a bag of Retro swag, but never got it. When I contacted them on Instagram they replied with a somewhat snide moving of the goalposts and have not responded to my replies. Very disappointed. May consider 24 hr fitness now.

Great Gym. I go early morning weekdays & weekends and there is plenty of equipment available. The place is very clean they have a very diverse set of equipment and workout areas to utilize and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. At this price point, there is no better Gym in the area.

Tuesday 9/19. This is the SECOND time this guy wearing all black with an under armor headband came up to me rushing me while I was on the cables and IMMEDIATELY started cursing me out because I was standing and taking a short break. He told me that I wasn’t doing anything and wasting his time. We went back and forth and he threatened me saying “watch you’re mouth” “I’ll follow you home I’ll be right behind you”
Very very rude person. He should not be allowed at this gym. felt very very unsafe

I enrolled for the Ultimate membership so I could go to any retro fitness but I realized I was going only to New city. So I went to Pearl River, where I enrolled for in July 11th and told them I wanted to DOWNGRADE my plan and be transferred to New City, because it was closer to my house.
The front desk girl specifically said SHE DID downgraded it, which was a lie - her name is Lauren, I guess. Also, she could not be even slightly polite when I told I wanted to downgrade and be transferred. She barely explained me or talked at all, I didn’t even understand she was already done with my request, once she turned her back and I was standing there not even understanding she had finished it. Anyways, she said she downgraded it but to be transferred I would have to send an email (I ended up not sending it because I traveled and forgot to when I came back, but regardless when my membership card stopped working in new city I would know it was because they downgraded it for real), so fine, I kept going to new city always asking if I was still allowed to go there because I expect that eventually my card would stop working once my membership was supposedly DOWNGRADED, but I still went because I thought It was a last days thing… anyway. I only realized they lied about downgrading it because they charged me 43 dollars bill this month, AGAIN, after weeks I canceled it then I called and figured my plan was still the same and they actually only transferred me instead of what they told me they did. This is disrespectful, if they had told me they didn’t for some reason I would have figured it out myself, but I thought it was all right. So now I wanna know how to fix this because it’s not fair I’m paying this bill because your employee is a lier. Ridiculous and disrespectful.

The gym is really clean and have outgoing employees. The downfall is, even though 3 people signs up to a workout class, the class still take place. And you don’t have access to the turf. Some of the couches stand against the wall and look completely unmotivated, like they don’t want to be there.

Great gym. Worked out here for a week and it had everything I needed.
Two squat racks, three benches for bench press, dumbbells up to 120 pounds. For a membership it's only $25 a month so very reasonable too.

Worst place ever !! I signed up for retro fitness unfortunately due to my schedule. Which includes school two jobs I was unable to attend the gym. I called in to cancel my membership they gave me a long story state that I have to stay with them for a year. After staying with them for a year I went inside to cancel my membership I was told I still have to stay with them for two more months before I could cancel they are a rip off don’t waste your time go to powerhouse or planet fitness!!

When I first heard of the place, I was intrigued by the use of the word "retro" in the name.When I got here, I was expecting things like barrels to throw, bears to wrestle with, logs to chop, retro things like that. Instead I found a regular gym WITH WEIGHTS AND MACHINES!!!!! 1 star for this disappointment and the injuries I got from being forced to wrestle a bear at home (I lost). +2 stars for customer service.

It’s a good clean gym, with everything you need for a solid work out. Aside from the evening rush, the gym is never overcrowded; but there are enough people lifting to help keep you motivated. I’ve been a member of a few different chains over the years, as well as three different retro locations. This is definitely one of the best. They could use a couple new barbells with better knurling for deadlifts. But aside from that everything is great.
