I liked this gym at first but realized the machines have over an inch of dust that you can see coming out from the mechanism of the machine. It seems like they never do a deep clean of the gym or machines. The gym needs to be cleaned throughout the day.

Also, there are not enough paper towel and cleaner stations on each floor. You have to walk all across the floor to get a paper towel to clean the machine b4 use, then walk all the way back to get more to clean it after use. Very annoying and frustrating. I see other ppl here have complained months ago and nothing has been done. Also there are no leg press machines in the common area!? Only one leg press in the weight section, but most gyms have the other leg press machines that don't require u to put weights on them or remove huge weights.

I started going to a different location then discovered this Springfield location which is convenient for me to go to. The quality of this location is below par compared to the other Retro Fitness gyms I’ve visited. The only bathroom stall door that works is the handicap bathroom, there is no full body mirror in the women’s locker room and the members in this gym does not re-rack their weights or readjust machines for the next person which resulted in a machine almost crushing me because I wasn’t tall enough to adjust. Please encourage your members to re-rack their weights. Also why isn't the staff walking around doing sweeps like every other gym? This gym sends a loud and clear message that women shouldn’t be in the gym.

Update - I reached out to the Forest Hills Location to cancel my membership and was told that my membership was transferred to the Springfield location for a few months without my knowledge and consent BUT was still billing me for the Forest Hills price which was double the price of the Springfield location.

This gym is extremely dangerous and dirty. I come with a guest and they always talk about how they let the staff know how the gym is falling apart and smells, and the staff doesn’t do anything. I recently experienced the owners spraying the place with Febreeze thinking it was going to work. After that one time I’m never coming back to this location.

I wanted to love this Gym…

I visited Retro Fitness with high hopes, expecting it to become my new home gym. Having had a great experience at another location, I came in excited and fully ready to sign up the same day. Unfortunately, my visit was a complete disappointment.

The first thing I noticed was the poor ventilation near the treadmills in the back. The air was stale, and odors lingered throughout the gym, making it uncomfortable to work out. The machines were dirty, with water and Gatorade bottles left near outlets, and the strength training area was completely disorganized—weights were scattered everywhere and left unracked, creating an unsafe and unprofessional atmosphere.

To make matters worse, the gym lacked WiFi, and cell reception was nonexistent downstairs; my phone even switched to SOS mode. Staying connected during workouts is important, and the lack of connectivity added to the frustration. The staff seemed disengaged and unaware of the state of the gym, which left the entire environment feeling chaotic, dirty, and unsafe.

I tried to push through, staying for about 30 to 40 minutes, but it was impossible to ignore the glaring issues. While the equipment selection was impressive, the overall experience didn’t come close to justifying the premium prices Retro Fitness charges.

Retro, I truly wanted to love this location, but it needs serious improvements in cleanliness, organization, and management. Please address these issues to create an environment that matches your brand’s potential and your members’ expectations.

Gym made me depressed. Manager will yell at you even if asking simple questions. I asked them to freeze my membership and they never did causing me to get charged. Their agreement is kind of tricky when it comes to canceling a membership. their equipment's are okay but you will find a lot of them aren't work perfectly. I was in a car accident and couldn't work out, I wanted to cancel membership until further notice. I was told by the owner I couldn't cancel until I paid the annual fee which wasn't due yet. As a result of not canceling that time I was charged an additional monthly fee until I payed the annual, and was threatened if I didn't pay they would contact and effect my credit. The owner is a crook, don't trust these people with your personal info.

I usually go to the retro in Hempstead however this location is also close to my job I must say it's a small location which in peak hours it's too crowded. Also, some times they don't turn on the AC downstairs and it's starts smelling muggy and hot very unpleasant when you're taking deep breaths after a set. Overall it's an ok location for a quick workout. Keep the AC on guys!

They are funny with charges. Alot of tactics to get youre money. Cancelation is much more difficult then it seems. Definetly not a no commitment situation you will come out of pocket to leave. In the beginning when they first open they where charging me more out my acct then was due monthly. Now after a year of using them and paying monthly theyre. Charging me 500 from an old account magically from Almost two years later. But they let me reopen and pay monthly for a whole year. Before i seen a collections on my credit report. There is a lot of hidden fees that they don't explain to the customers. So I signed up on 3/26/2021and becuz of a family circumstance I cancel membership on 04/10 then they r telling me I hv to pay annual fee and next month payment as well so which cost me $30 for 1st month, $30 for next month and annual fee $50 which cost me $110 for 14days. I sent a cancellation request October 19 and as of now its not canceled. As per the rude unprofessional manager Danny because of covid contracts was extended by 3 months. Meanwhile I paid an entire year and never went there.
