My son has been coming here for the past few months. When we first started, he was afraid to jump off the side into the pool and put his head under water.
And now, thanks to Jalani, he does both. Jalani demonstrates such a high level of patience, understanding, and professionalism when working with my son. My 7 and 4 year old daughters both go to Saf-T Swim in New Hyde Park and love it! My younger daughter was previously scared to go into the pool but after these swim classes, she is confident and loves swimming now. My 4-year-old sister absolutely loves Saf-T-Swim! She used to be really shy around water, but after just a few weeks here, she’s so much more confident and actually looks forward to her lessons. I can’t say enough good things about Saf-T-Swim in New Hyde Park. The staff is so kind, professional, and genuinely caring. I had several requests — I wanted both my kids (9 and 7) to have lessons at the same time but in different levels, and for my daughter to have a female instructor. The manager went above and beyond to make it all work while still keeping every child’s safety and fairness in mind.

Both of my kids absolutely love coming here, and I’ve seen such wonderful progress in their confidence and swimming. It really feels like the whole team cares about each child. I’m so happy we found this place and truly recommend it to any parent looking for a warm and professional swim school.

Are you in need of a swimming school? Saf-T-Swim of New Hyde Park is your place. I came in for a trial lessons and Jason greeted me, and walked me through my whole experience personally! During the trial Meghan the manager made it a point to come in the viewing room and watch the class with me. After the trial she walked me to Rory at the front desk who made it a seemless process. This place truly embodies the meaning of water safety education!

We take our little one here weekly and he loves it! He's been coming since he was 3. He's gained great skills that allow us to feel safe with him being in the water. He puts his swimming skills to good use on vacation and can keep up with his peers. All of his teachers have been very kind and helpful. They are very encouraging and make him feel safe in the water. It's been fairly easy to reschedule classes when needed. The facility is well maintained and clean. We love the 2-way mirror that allows us to watch him learn without being distracted. The waiting area has some books and toys to keep him occupied while waiting. There are ample changing rooms as well. He loves seeing his picture on the wall when he levels up!

This was my first time swimming as an adult, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I was part of a group of 10, and our coach, Tyler, did an excellent job leading the session. Even though we were all at different swimming levels, Tyler was patient and made sure to give each of us a version of the practice that matched our abilities. What stood out most was how encouraging he was—affirming our efforts while also giving constructive critiques so that we could improve with each swim. It was a supportive and motivating environment, and I left feeling both more confident and excited to continue learning.

All the employee's here are so kind and hardworking, my kids love it here! Lessons here are worth every penny. I signed up my kids here because we just moved to a new house with a swimming pool and I wanted my kids to be able to stay safe just in case anything happens as we aren't able to constantly supervise them. Ugh parking is getting bad here at this location. The people from the Indian temple across the street are blatantly parking in SafeTSwim's parking lot. Leaving no parking for the customers. And the company isn't enforcing anything. Expect to pay money for meter parking if there's any left and risk getting a parking ticket if you're late or park really far and walk.

Update. 4mos later. Parking situation has not changed. People blatantly parking here and crossing over to the temple. Especially if there’s a wedding going on. You will get trapped in the pot by illegally parked cars from across street. Kid ended up missing summer class after swim because we couldn’t get out and was trapped. Zero enforcement. Dropping a star.

Saf-T-Swim New Hyde park is the best. For me it’s the professionalism in the staff, especially the instructors. Christine is my son’s instructor and he absolutely loves her. My wife and I love and adore her as well, she has become an extended part of our family. She’s an awesome teacher, very patient and effective with her training, so much so that we now have Tyler seeing her twice a week. Overall, everyone is extremely polite and the place looks great. Everything is very clean anytime we step foot in there and I appreciate that very much. The entire set up is perfect, I like that I can watch my son swim from behind a hidden window without him seeing me. They have a waiting room that’s very pleasant and relaxing with a television set showing fish in the sea. Also there’s children’s books and Lego blocks to occupy the kids time while they await their session to start. A very good facility, I give you guys a thumbs up and a 5 star review. At SafTSwim so far, our experiences have been excellent. Everyone is really kind, and the facility is neat and properly maintained. Specifically, I want to acknowledge Jason at the front desk; he has been amazing. He answered all of our questions without making us feel hurried and made us at ease from the first day. Very bad experience. Make sure they don't keep switching coaches every class. You have 4 classes per month. Now my boy did two classes with two different coaches. If everything goes to normal I will have the 3rd which was originally assigned by next week. I was trying to tell them I want to stick to the 2nd coach my boy liked for the future classes. And unfortunately she just started and do not have a schedule, basically I cannot fix her as my coach.

Highly likely I am not renewing the courses here. Good luck with whoever come here. This is more like a management issue and individual coach credibility issue.

Update.
a nice lady Ms. Fathma may change my decision. Last week I met with the new front desk lady Ms. Fathma, she totally understand my situation and tried her best to resolve the issue. She recommended a coach she knows, but from a different tour, which is ok for me. We did today's class with the new coach. My kid said he is the best coach so far. We have one more class with him. We may renew the class now. The management should give Ms Fathma credit.

Ms. Christina is an amazing swim teacher. This dude doesn’t just greet you. Nah. He welcomes you like you're stepping into the Olympics. I walk in and Jason’s there with that crisp polo, firing off “Hey boss, ready to crush it today?” — and suddenly I’m like, “Yeah Jason, I am ready to crush it today.” 🏊‍♂️🔥

Need to reschedule a lesson? Jason’s already two steps ahead. Forgot your goggles? Jason’s got a spare pair and a motivational quote. Kid crying? Jason’s handing out stickers, calming them down like some kind of swim school sorcerer. 🧙‍♂️💦

Unethical Business Practices & Unprofessional Staff

I had a very disappointing experience with Saf T Swim. They pressure vulnerable parents into making non-refundable payments and continue to deduct membership fees unfairly. On top of that, their staff is extremely unprofessional and lacks proper training. The overall customer service is terrible, and they show no concern for the well-being of their clients. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a trustworthy and supportive swimming facility.

Managerial Concerns! For the last 3 years this location has been very disappointing. Lazy supervision, Manager Rory does not move from his chair to help with anything and has a poor attitude. From dirty viewing windows to broken bathrooms that don't work for months. We pay good money to send our kids here, Let's start getting what we pay for. They must of changed my child's swim instructor about 5 times over a course of 8 weeks also.

The front desk is very terrible and never solve your problem even you are telling them you are not learning swim from there, they don't care. If you want to talk to manager and they told you the manager is not here.

The instructor change all the time, some of them are not professional and the private class is very expensive only 30mins and the last 5 mins they let child play toy and doing nothing. Kids here are learning swimming super slow and don't know when we will test the next level. They just want to charge customer's money.

The app is really bad, they always charge the tuition wrong and every time I need to talk to the front desk, also the make up class appointment is really hard to make, some substitute instructor don't know your kids learning level and chatting with other instructor all the time.

My daughter swims with Shawna and my son swims with Jamie. They are both very talented, patient, and reliable instructors. My son is very hesitant to go into the water. After a year of private lessons, he’s comfortable floating and snorkeling when we go out into ocean under adult supervision. My daughter was more open to swimming and Shawna keeps trying to challenge her to improve. We did have a rocky start with multiple instructors in the beginning. Once we found Shawna and Jamie, we’ve been with them since for over a year. I highly recommend them.

Nice pool, good changing rooms, but the instructor I had wasn’t so great. Adrienette was the instructor, and though she did teach me how to float on the water, she kept looking at her watch every few seconds! She kept talking to the other instructors, and one of them even told her to focus on the class. She just laughed it off and continued what she was doing. Overall, I don’t think the money that we spent on this one on one class was worth it at all. Very disappointed with the service, though i’m sure there are other instructors here that are great according to the other reviews.

OMGGGG i learned how to float in the first 20 mins !!! which was literally my only goal. then I learned how to move and float !! aahhh! im 28 and the last time I learned to swim I was 5. I am sooooo excited and amazed I learned so quickly. The instructors were soo good 10/10 recommend!!!

6 months/private weekly sessions/$1400 = zero progress. no one knew what level he was, he never learned to swim, just floated every week. Changed instructors several times, told management twice how he wasn’t making progress at all. Finally cancelled without a swimmer.

I had a birthday party for my 9 and 1 year(s) old yesterday. The staff was AMAZING and super attentive!! They went above and beyond and ensured that everyone was comfortable. The kids enjoyed every minute of the pool portion. They ensured the kids were all safe as well as engaged them in fun games for all ages!

I've done many parties at different establishment for my kids (eldest being 17) and this, by far, has been the best yet!

The staff deserves all the praise for a job well done! All of the guest were super impressed with the service and the assistance!

There was torrential rain outside and the staff came outside and got soaked to help me get kids and party goods out of my vehicle! They assisted with setting up and would barely allow us to lift a finger with cleanup!

Just amazing!

Run by children, the policies they have will not only be a waste of your money but also a waste of time. They don’t have any regard for either of those things between last minute cancellations and instructors changes. And you’re not able to change the dates for classes even a month in advance so if you have a vacation or whatever just take that as a loss of money because they don’t even try to help you. Canceled and not going back. Our two instructors that we looked quit anyways due to pay and lack of management support.

I was extremely disappointed with multiple instructors at this school. I signed up my 3 year old son for private one-on-one lessons. The first session went ok, aside from the instructor showing up late to our first class. My son had a good time and was excited about swimming, though. At the second lesson, the same instructor dunked my child’s head into the water, without telling him, and needless to say his love for swimming was gone instantly. At the next lesson my son refused to even enter the pool so we decided to try a different instructor after that. All in all, we tried three different instructors at this school and NONE of them got out of the pool to reassure my child or try to get him in the pool. When I talked to the front desk after the first instructor, they reassured me we’d figure it out. Well- another billing cycle past with us ‘still trying’ and now they refuse to give me any money back or even 50% refund as they had offered me from the beginning. Instead, they gave me credits for classes for a child that they traumatized (oh, and the classes expire in 3 months).
I spent $600 for 2 months of swimming classes and my child swam 1.5 times because he was too scared after his experience. Extremely frustrated and annoyed.

Edit: After being here for almost a year my opinion on this place has changed.
Between late starts and constantly changing instructors it’s hard for my son to get through classes because it seems they are learning him all over again.
They don’t allow you to reschedule your classes a week in advance. So if anything comes up or if you have a vacation you lose 60$ per class. (You’re only given one makeup per month)
April will be my sons last class here.
Some instructors are really great but the policies here are shoddy. Not worth the headache with the people here

The instructors are great my baby is really getting the hang of it.
Only cons is that they never answer the phones.
Also it seems as though this place is run by high-school students. Which I think is great because the only experience I’ve had with an adult here was unpleasant as she was rude and dismissive.

My daughter kept asking me to come see her swim so I decided to pop into lesson to catch a quick snip of the progress that she was making. Once she saw I was in the room she was so excited to see me that she begin to get silly. I tried to get her to get focused but it didn’t work. As she prepared to do one of her drills that she had done several times before which required her to jump in and swim to her teacher (who was further out) with wide arms I began to get nervous. I was nervous because she was still acting silly and was not focused on what she was about to do. In a blink of an eye I saw that left foot slip and she lost her balance and splash she went into the water unexpectedly. I know she's done this drill several times but to see her fall off guard my stomach felt like it was in my throat because I wasn't sure how she would respond or bounce back. Before I could even take a step forward there was a staff member that was right there ready to pull her up. He then got the clear from my daughters teacher (Ms. Rosette) who was fully confident that she was okay and directed that instructor that she was fine. Once he received that word he moved away and sure enough my daughter was more then fine she begin to swim to Ms. Rosette as if nothing happened. Shout out to her instructor for helping her to be confident around water as well as the staff member who was by her side in a blink of an eye.

I have never written a google review but really felt the need to write one for this horrible place. Do yourselves a favor and read the yelp reviews. I wish I did before sending my son here. I don’t even know where to start.
I signed my son in the group swim. It really was the worst thing ever. Very unorganized. They have a whole bunch of pot heads running the pool. Life guards on their phones or talking. They tried charging my friend a private lesson fee because the other kids in the group swim didn’t show up. The kids running the pool are always confused on where the kids should be going. They once had an instructor drag my son in the pool causing him to choke on the water. Very inexperienced instructors.
I had rosette ( one of the managers) put my son in for 2 makeup classes. I show up to the first makeup class and my son wasn’t in the schedule. Very frustrating because I confirmed with rosette twice and she said he was in the schedule( She happened to take a personal day that day and Britney who is another manager wasn’t helpful at all) Because the class that he was supposed to be in was full, they put my son in the b2 swim class. ( they for sure took him out to have new paying kids swim, but that’s another topic) my son is 3 and very new to swim. He was obviously not ready for the next level and I told them that but they said he would be fine. Obviously not. Middle of the class started crying. It was too intense for him and he was scared. I tried a private class early on to see if it would be a good fit for us. They put us with another inexperienced instructor I think named David who pushed my son too hard and made him cry. the pool became such a negative experience for my son after that and after much bribing I was able to get him to try the group swim again the week after.

I can go on and on. Do not send your kids here if you love them. Really a gross and dangerous place. Should be called danger-swim!!! Stay away. Listen to all those negative reviews on yelp!!!!!

I have been taking my son for 2 years now. He likes it there however we recently found Nikkirose as our instructor. We love her and couldn’t be happier. She gets my son to do things other instructors couldn’t. She is caring and professional. We are glad we have found a perfect fit for us and hope we can continue to work with her as she teaches him to swim. Thank you Nikkirose

The only reason my kids are still at this school is because of how AMAZING Nikki Rose is with them. She is one of the best if not the best instructor that they have at this location. She has made it easy for us to continue and stay with the location through many changes that have been different and challenging. If not for Nikki Rose and her amazing lessons and skills, my kids would not be as advanced as they are. Both of my sons have been here since they were months old and my niece who is now 10 is currently on their highest level. This is a great place to get your kids into a life skill. It does take patience and hard work as a partner to get results, but definitely worth the investment. Again, Nikki Rose, thank you for all you do. I always mention to your managers how awesome you are!

Let me start by negatives first. This is basically a business run by high school/college kids. While I had a very few issue with individual instructors, I was having a lots of issues the way they were operating and I would have given them 0 star for those experiences. I see my make ups were being scheduled without our knowledge, no makes ups being available when you try to schedule them through apps etc. Also, I see that majority (although there are few good ones there too) of instructors spend a lot of time chatting and goofing around with each other while in session, rather than focusing completely on the students. These were some of the issues/complaints I have.

However, they have made sincere effort to change all those negatives and they are much more responsible now towards customer experience recently. So, giving them the credit where it is due. We have spoken to Brittney who has helped us resolving issues with the make up in past. They are now greeting people coming in for the lesson and check for the instructors when you are by the pool side to make sure they can locate them for us. So, definitely good things have happened in last few months.
