We love Samurai! Everybody is very nice and all have a great attitude. The
Sensei's are extremely patient with the students. Always have a smile on their face. My daughter is testing into yellow belt currently and says she's not leaving till she's a black belt. She looks forward coming to classes.

Samurai martial arts has been the perfect place for our wild, adventurous ADHD son to not only get his energy out but learn discipline, respect and focus. The sensais are knowledgeable, kind and patient. The programs are organized, informative and fun and my son loves having a goal of advancing his belt placements. It helps drive his motivation and gives him a goal to work towards.

We also had our son’s birthday party at Samurai and they did a phenomenal job!! Friends still talk about it!

We highly recommend Samurai Martial Arts!!

I found this to be the best martial arts place I have ever seen. They were nice and courteous, and the facility was kept extremely clean. I’ve worked in professional environments my entire life, and this would be top-tier. I found Tim to be extremely courteous and professional, in answering all my questions; offering a solution very quickly, without being too pushy about anything. I hope to be back some day as I already miss it very much. Thank you all!

Samurai Martial Arts in Spencerport is simply fantastic for my kids! Curt, the leader, creates an awesome experience. The instructors make karate so fun. Megan, the wizard behind the scenes, keeps everything smooth. Safety's a big deal, and their ninja camps are amazing. My kids have grown so much in karate and life skills. If you want a place where your kids can have a blast and learn, I totally recommend Samurai Martial Arts! It's been a game-changer for my little ninjas, and we can't wait for more adventures with this amazing dojo!

Outstanding Karate Dojo for Kids at Samurai Martial Arts with Sensei Kurt and a Team of Talented Instructors!

Samurai Martial Arts, led by Sensei Kurt, is an absolute gem for our kids! From day one, we knew we had found a special place that would nurture not only their physical abilities but also their character and discipline.

The team of instructors, including Sensei Tim, Sensei Caitlyn, and other skilled senseis, are the heart and soul of this dojo. Their dedication to teaching traditional karate and instilling important values in their students is evident in every class. They balance fun and learning, ensuring kids are engaged while learning essential life skills.

Sensei Megan, the fantastic office manager, ensures the dojo runs like clockwork. Her organizational prowess and friendly demeanor create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both kids and parents.

Safety is paramount at Samurai Martial Arts, with the instructors closely monitoring each child's progress and providing personalized attention.

The well-equipped, clean, and organized dojo offers a perfect space for focused learning, and their flexible class schedules suit busy families.

One of the highlights is their fantastic summer camps for kids, offering an enriching and fun experience during the break.

Samurai Martial Arts fosters a sense of community, making it feel like an extended family.

Thanks to Sensei Kurt, Sensei Megan, and the team of talented instructors, my kids have grown immensely, improving their karate techniques while developing respect, responsibility, and self-confidence.

I wholeheartedly recommend Samurai Martial Arts to any parent seeking a nurturing and empowering environment for their children to learn karate. The impact it has had on my kids' lives is immeasurable, and we look forward to many more years of learning and growth with this exceptional dojo!

Two weeks ago I approached about joining. I was made to feel very foolish for coming in and felt super uncomfortable. Especially how they talked about the children.

Luckily I found a much nicer spot I feel safer taking my kids to. Make sure you take the time and understand what you’re signing up for.

I have been going here since I was 6 years old. Sensei Curt Sawyer has a great dojo with a great vibe as soon as you walk in. I love this dojo and have seen other peoples dojo's and this is one of the biggest in Monroe county. Great for B-day parties and special events.

Samauri Martial Arts has been fantastic for my son Peyton! He has been going for two or three years now, and I can tell he is more confident and has a better approach to different life situations from coming here. He feels positive and supported here, and wants to compete in competitions - attend camps - and join the leadership group (all unprompted by me). Five stars for sure - they do a great job here!

Samurai martial arts has help my daughter learn important life skills, self-defense, and manners. She thoroughly enjoys every class. The Sensei’s keep the programming fun and interactive. Everyone is expected to have the same respect and uphold themselves to a high standard. This is super important in today’s world where we are less disciplinary. My daughter has great respect for the class, the other kids, and it transfers into her daily life. We are super thankful we have found samurai.

I visited for a childrens birthday party and it was very cool. They set up obstacle courses for the kids and played ninja dodge ball. Taught the kids some simple kicks and some rules. They had an area for the cake & pizza set up. Everything was great. The kids had a great time. The facility is pretty large. Has a dojos, work out room, locker room with restrooms and a counter for selling items...including popcorn & slushies. I can't comment on the marital arts classes but the owner seem nice and the business has been there for years so I would assume they are good.

What a great "family" oriented place!!! My grandson, Jaace Moran, really wanted to take karate. After doing the trial package, he fell in love with it. I am beyond impressed with the dedication and patience of all the Senei's I have seen. Karate has taught Jaace so much in the short time we have been there. It is not just learning self defense, it is also teaching respect and so many other things kids are lacking today. He is one proud little boy for all his accomplishments and we look so forward to moving up the ranks!!! THANKYOU!

Proud gramma,

I sent my daughter here 4-6 years ago. Now, she’s a black belt. The teachers that teach there, are extremely nice and they show great support towards the kids. If you haven’t sent your child to this place, I recommend you do that now. They allow kids from 3 1/2 yr olds to adults! This place is awesome, that’s why it deserves a 5 star rating.

Easily one of the least welcoming and unprofessional atmospheres. I came over in 2014 to this dojo and I was very unimpressed. Stayed here only because I was striving for my black belt. Waste of money, wish I chose a different dojo and had better senseis. Many of my friends there had also had these concerns yet stayed for their year contract. When they incorporated their leadership class program, they wanted to add on more fees and money to take on top of normal monthly expenses. I have already taught for 4 years (starting at green belt at my other dojo) yet when they brought in this new program, they said I had to, to keep teaching the younger kids, when they retained more information when I taught them, rather than the actual paid senseis. Wow. Highly wouldn’t recommend. Only stayed for Sensei Drexel because he was absolutely amazing and was an amazing instructor with lots of wisdom!
Other than that, don’t waste your money here.

It started with a Birthday and continues with a membership...I've gone to visit many schools and have participated in martial arts about a quarter of my life so I know a good school when I see one. Curt and his staff are great with kids. My daughter showed an interest in martial arts after getting hooked to power rangers. We scheduled a birthday with Samurai after looking at other schools with extremely over priced birthday packages and or needing to be a member first. Not only did they welcome our birthday they went above and beyond. I would like to review the birthday and membership separately

Birthday - First they offered to dress one of the employees as a power ranger for us, which was great. They advertised a large pizza but actually ordered a Sheet, the set up was great and everything was planned out perfectly and the kids did not become disorderly because they were constantly being engaged with 1 of the 3 Sensei's on hand. I highly recommend anyone looking to do a Karate Birthday to pick Samurai Martial Arts.

Membership - From the birthday we got a special Boards and Belts class, At the class my daughter was able to demo a full blown session and break a board with the other white belts, shes a quick learner and loved it. We signed her up for a 1 month promotion which was fairly priced, included the Gi, instruction handbook and unlimited classes for the first month. My daughter took that month and ran with it, we are now in our second month and since she used almost every available while class has already gotten her 3rd yellow stripe. We loved it so much that we signed her up to the 3 year Masters Club, which is a lot like the original promotion but it gave her an extra uniform, patches and unlimited classes. Shes only 6 years old but has shown such initiative and likes to attend all 4 classes each week instead of the recommended 3.

Again I cannot say enough good things about this Dojo, not only do they focus on Isshin Ryu Karate, but they also have Wing Chung, Pilates, Kickboxing Cardio and even a Gym with treadmills (All that is missing is a pool and you have the total package)

Thanks Samurai for helping our daughter reach her true potential

I highly recommend this school for anyone wanting to learn martial arts. They offer programs to meet everyone's needs. My daughter who is 11 yrs old has been a student at Samurai for 6 yrs. My husband has been a student at least 15 years. Both of them continue to train in karate. I have taken women's self defense classes, cardio kicking box classes, and am thinking about trying Jiu Jitsu. In July and August they offer a week long kid camp, which my daughter loves!

The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and personable. They take great pride in seeing your child grow personally as well as in the martial arts discipline they are learning. Great school and great staff...doesn't get any better than that.

Their programs are alright for kids. Though the technique they teach is generally pretty sloppy. Waste of money imo. The instructors act more like nannies with blackbelts than coaches with intention. Karate is outdated and serves no real purpose. Waste of money and way overpriced.

The kickboxing is a workout for sure. You want to borderline have a heart attack, do it up. Too bad there is more to losing weight and being healthy they don't help you with but what do you want?

The grappling, is alright. I've seen better Gracie schools by far. I think Curt's program is a bit overpriced compared to other programs of much better value. Curt is charming, and has hustled a while in the business, but he lacks much in the way of innovation, and keeping up with the revolutionizing martial arts market. New techniques and strategy are the currency in this market and Curt falls short when measuring up.
