I’ve been a member at Spunk Fitness for the past 15 months, and I’ve had a great experience. The monthly fee is very affordable, and the facility is always clean and well-maintained. The equipment is suitable for all fitness levels, whether you’re a beginner or experienced. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the members create a positive, non-judgmental, and supportive environment. Highly recommend Spunk Fitness to anyone looking for a welcoming place to work out!

8 months later update: Despite continuously calling and asking my membership be canceled, and New York states new law which requires they do so, my membership which I cannot use and cannot cancel is still going. Thats $80 they have taken since I posted. They have read this review. They know they should cancel it. I cannot go in. I have sent a letter. They will not accept an email or phone call. They take my money every month. RUN AWAY!!!

The only way to cancel your membership is to physically go in, or mail a letter like it's 1990. It's a horrible business practice and should be changed. Never mind that I dont live in the area anymore. The rationale that "people have called in cancelling others memberships" is ridiculous. The poor front staff girl has to explain this policy over the phone, which is embarrassing. Inconvenience to everyone. Recommending all my local friends and family avoid this place.

Just joined and love the friendliness of the staff and members! I was going to a much larger gym in a larger town and then moved here and super impressed with Spunk Fitness! Has everything I need to keep up my healthy lifestyle, nothing fancy, just PLENTY of gym equip, weights, and resources for a great workout and lifestyle💪

I've been going to Spunk for about a month now and to be honest I like it. It is very clean, people are friendly and you have every single piece of equipment you would need to lose weight and stay fit.
Unlike other gyms, it never gets too crowded which is always a plus for me.

So far, so good! 🫡 This place has decent equipment, the management here is transparent if you ask the right questions. They told me admit the cancellation policy without me having to ask. In affordability.. better than most. I do love the non commitment plan these guys have just in case. It’s a gym, everyone’s usually to themselves but friendly if you need help :) if you’re looking for glitz and glam I would recommend planet fitness but if you’re looking for a helpful gym to get back in shape and stay in shape try these guys here at Spunk Fitness. Staff from what I’ve seen so far is welcoming and encouraging!

I guess the only gripe I have is a place to do stretching in there but all in all it’s really not a bad spot.

Last but not least, I think everyone knows this but I can’t help myself with this important advice.. a gym is to workout and have a healthy lifestyle, not bash or complain about politics. Per other reviews 👍👍

Buyer beware...the cancellation policy is designed to take advantage of you. My husband's membership was past the 12-month commitment. Due to my husband accepting a new job, we made a very sudden move out of the area. We realized we forgot to cancel before the move, called about it and were told to either stop in person or send a certified letter. Inconvenient, but fine. Just read on their website that the cancellation goes through 30 DAYS AFTER they receive your request to cancel (I'm relatively certain this is a few simple key strokes on the computer as we JUST did this with another gym near our new home over the phone in 60 seconds). Tracking with USPS, we just learned our certified letter sits at the post office waiting to be picked up, PER THE GYM'S REQUEST. And we will be charged for yet another month of non-use of a gym that was perpetually dirty. Save yourself the time, money and aggravation.

This is easily the worst gym I’ve ever been too. There’s not a lot of selections when it comes to machines (at least the ones that don’t need fixing). The customer service is so bad there are employees there that would rather walk through heavy traffic than help you. Speaking of employees, this place is so unorganized I went up to talk to someone at the front desk and he said he doesn’t work here even though I saw him behind the desk all the time I see groups of people hanging behind the desk and I bet at least half of them don’t even work there, not that you can tell because no one has name tags or a shirt to let you know who works there. This place has a frat house culture with guys and teenagers climbing, standing on equipment with people running around the gym. This place is also so unwelcoming they constantly play Fox News and other far right news sources like Newsmax which is very triggering for someone like me and how I chose to live my life. I wish I never signed anything to work out here I find myself not working out as much since I’ve moved back to this area because of how bad Spunk Fitness is affecting my mental health.

I don’t usually complain, but this place is disgusting! The tanning rooms are absolutely filthy. Tanning lotion and other schmegma on the walls! Couldn’t tell you the last time they were vacuumed. I drew the line when I saw toenails on the carpet!!! The bulbs hardly heat up and probably haven’t been changed once since they opened! The staff is not friendly at all nor are they knowledgeable!!! Highly disappointed!

Decent gym for what is being billed for. If weight training, cardio or body building is your thing then Spunk is right for you. Sometimes you have to get a little creative in order to accomplish certain movement patterns or exercises is my only concern. The cardio equipment is all pretty new and the resistance machines could use a facelift/upgrade. I’ve been working out for a decade or better and can walk out of Spunk consistently with a great workout accomplished. Only decent gym in the area unless you want to travel to Rochester area 👎🏼. This gym is capable of more but I can only imagine the struggle of running a large commercial gym in such a small market. Thank you Spunk.

They stole $80 from me because they claim I owed them money but I paid it off then was told I owe more money...so basically I can work out but have to pay fees for mistaken identity...why let me pay to work out then hit me with some other Stuff you obviously messed up I'm a single widower and the owner could care less fitness is supposed to be about helping people why would I admit one account and lie about the others I hope the $80 was worth it..BBB AND CHANNEL 11 NEWS WILL BE CONTACTED IMMEDIATELY

Horribly mismanaged. Let’s start outside before you walk in. No parking lot lights.. as a single female this is frightening. In the winter they don’t salt at all. I fell last year, told management and was told to walk slower.
Cables have been broken for months. Leg press handle is broken. Multiple machines are broken at various times for long periods of time.
The AC has been broken for who knows how long. I’m just hoping there is heat this winter but not holding out for it. The Wi-Fi only works if you’re lucky.
Now let’s talk about customer service. There is absolutely NONE with the EXCEPTION of the two older gentlemen. The manager doesn’t even bother to come out of her office while people are standing at the desk. Three separate occasions I’ve tried saying hello to her and I was completely ignored.
I wish there were more options in Newark.
Don’t waste your money here.

Ps - update - please see the response from the owner and you will understand how it’s run. Instead of asking how my experience could be improved, he would instead like to end my membership. Feel free to ask other member how they feel and I’m sure the response will be similar.

When its the only place close it works in a pinch....Owner should put some $$ into this place, and show u care about your paying members...ropes , grips, pads, just all worn..and outdated equipment.. Edited: I was actually in all week on a week membership for $25 ...04/18/22-04/22/22 ...and yes its still all very well outdated, Just a suggestion, visit a few fitness trade shows to see where the industry is at now...

I have a gym subscription for here, and I get a discount for being an employee of Rochester Regional. I really like the atmosphere here. It really gets you pumped up to do really cool things! I, for one, am loosing weight, so I do a lot of cardio. But, I want to keep my figure so I do some squat exercises and various other ones. They have machines and space to do all of that.
Only downside of it is they don't have a swimming pool. But they do have tanning machines!

Only been a memeber here a couple months and think I've had my final straw... Sitting here in my car 03/17 at 8:15 am. Club is suppose to open at 8 am and place is dark. There's always atleast one broken machine and others then one staff member there pretty unprofessional. If you have a gym closer I recommend going there

The manager or douche looking guy up front gave me so many problems to cancel my membership. Added to that, the trainer had the nerve advise me that in order to lose weight, I should only eat one meal a day. When I went to my doctor, they told me that this place and the gym trainers are a joke. I would not recommend this gym.

They told me my membership will automatically cancel after one year. Now my year is up and they charged me an annual fee of 29$ and then they are billing me another 10$. I called several times and came by, they continue to say the manager is not here. I paid on time every month and only went twice the whole year. Taking peoples money and not holding up there end of bargain is not good for business. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

Great place! Great price. Tanning and gym are great. Curly haired brunette in the morning is a wonderful girl who the service industry needs more of. She knew me after one visit and was ready for my visit every day after. No one knows me. I would rate this gym a 9. No one gets a 10.
