With 20 plus years of personal training and experience, Garnett Strother brings a unique and refreshing approach to these two distinct yet intertwined disciplines that is rarely seen on either platform.
His specialties include :
Strength and Conditioning, Body Sculpting, Mobility, Mixed Martial Arts, Pre-natal, Post-natal, and Rehabilitation.
Garnett holds a Black belt in Sho-ku-jitsu Ryu Karate under 10th degree Shidoshi Nathan Ingram and is an international karate tournament champion. He is also a proficient in boxing and Muay Thai. He is a New York State Glory style kickboxing champion who has studied under Kru Brandon Levi and Ajarn Phil Nurse and has been competing in the full contact and Muay Thai circuit since 2008.

I've been training with Garnett for 6 months and it's been fantastic. I came to him wanting to learn how to use weights safely and effectively, as well as develop whole-body strength.
He's been an exceptional teacher - always glad to hear my questions and provide not just the answer I was looking for, but the underlying rationale of why things are done certain ways. I'm sure the gains I've made in the last 6 months couldn't have been done without Garnett and - most importantly - I've felt safe the entire time. I leave our sessions tired and sure I've worked out, but never hurting, because of his focus on form and execution.
Garnett's also an amazing, interesting, and very smart guy who can have both funny and serious conversations with me at 7AM while making sure I hit my rep-count. Simply couldn't recommend him more.

Garnett is a fantastic trainer! He’s been great when I’ve wanted to get fitter, but also helped train me back into shape after having a baby and tailored his program when I wasn’t feeling well. Some people have a strong presence that’s intimidating and overwhelming, and some people have a presence that radiates out and empowers those in their orbit. That’s Garnett. He’s truly elite at what he does.
You can’t fake the work this man has put in into mastering himself and his craft as a trainer, as a communicator and as a man. Yes, there’s a deep level of knowledge of the mind and the body but there’s also this self awareness and the authentic desire to pass it along to others, understanding that we are all connected and we all share energy.

Training with Garnett means putting in the work and laughing your way through it. He pushes you (responsibly), adjusts and guides through the exercises and it is hard work. There are so many trainers who excel at this but what sets Garnett apart is that he is one of the best people I know. He is such a good person, he makes you laugh and celebrates your wins. Every time you’re done it’s equal parts relief that the work is done but also disappointment that you don’t get to hang out with him longer. 10/10 recommend.

I had a really great workout with Garnett last week. He is super knowledgeable and attentive to details, which I deeply appreciate. I told him it had been a while since my last workout, and the exercise circuit he gave me was the perfect level of difficulty for where I’m at right now, physically; it was a bit tough, but I enjoyed it and felt great afterward. What sets him apart is that he’s more than a trainer, he’s an amazing human being, coach, listener, advice giver and friend who is truly invested in his clients and is all about turning challenges into successes. He's incredibly knowledgeable and part of his gift is being able to connect and communicate so effectively with his clients, meeting you where you are, always encouraging and adjusting to your needs and learning style, no matter the level. By far, the best personal trainer I have ever had. Starting off, my fitness and weight loss goals felt ‘impossible’ but Garnett sees the possible and a strategy to get you there. In the first month, I lost over 10 pounds and that’s something I NEVER thought I could do. Garnett’s mastery of fitness/nutrition/psychology makes him the ultimate professional but what also makes him special is that he genuinely cares about his clients - and that makes you want to work that much harder. (Also - he trains famous people, models, and he even trains other personal trainers on how to be the best – so that should tell you something). I’ve trained for about fourteen years in the martial arts—mostly Chinese martial arts, with a tiny bit of dabbling in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—and I have about eight years of experience as an instructor. Garnett compares very favourably to some of the best teachers I’ve had: he’s very voluble about what he wants to teach, and you really get the impression that he spends a lot of time eating, drinking, and breathing martial arts. He’s got a lot to say about the philosophy behind training, and that philosophical angle was one of my favourite things about taking his Practical Striking class. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s a great exemplar for the techniques he teaches: dude is in top shape and his jab is lightning-fast! Suffice it to say that I’m looking forward to the next session.

The culture and spaces of training are really intimidating to me. Garnett not only makes me feel welcomed and encouraged, but also that I am meant to be there, that I am an integral part of the growth and progress of everyone around me.
