I can't say enough good things about this studio! The instructors are always so upbeat and attentive to adjustments you need or injuries you have. I had a really rough year with a very unexpected knee injury that took much longer than expected to heal. Getting back to classes was incredibly difficult but the instructors here were so well versed in what to do and how to help me adjust as well as what to pay attention to.

I used to hate working out, but now I’m obsessed! I love how every workout feels different with so much variety. And the instructors are the best, they remember your name after just taking one class with them. Love it here!

I started going to Studio Pilates South Slope a little under 2 years ago, and I’ve never looked back. I used to struggle with committing to a consistent exercise routine, and now this is the longest I’ve stuck with a form of exercise since childhood! I attribute this to the kind and motivating instructors, the class format, the convenient location (close to multiple subway lines), and the positive effects the workouts have had on my body and energy.
A bit more info on the class format: There are tv screens around the room such that whichever reformer you choose, you can see a screen. Every exercise is displayed on the screen and described with a voiceover. This is useful for visualizing exactly what you should be doing, and it’s especially helpful because the instructor is free to walk around and make adjustments/ give tips all of class. These tips and adjustments really help me tune into my body and work out in the most effective way.
Some people hesitate to start reformer pilates because it is a more expensive form of exercise, but the studio offers discounted class packs on multiple occasions throughout the year, they have a discount for teachers, and even without those perks I’ve found the price to be more affordable than many other studios.
Definitely give Studio Pilates a try - your body will thank you!

This studio and its instructors have changed how I work out. I’m actually excited to come to class and motivated to push myself. I think this is because the staff are very warm, supportive, and encouraging. The instructors know that I have arthritis and bulging discs in my spine and they help me modify some of the exercises to keep me safe whilst also making me stronger. After 20 classes, I’m doing things I didn’t think my body could do. One hundred percent recommend Studio Pilates International South Slope!

I'd been wanting to start a new fitness routine for myself and I'm so glad I did that at Studio Pilates in South Slope! I have some health issues and everyone at the studio has been extremely considerate and accommodating, which makes me feel very safe coming to class here. Every class has been challenging, but in a safe way where I can tell my body was pushed but not overexerted. (They also get bonus points for being a quick walk from my house!)

I came to Studio Pilates after a serious injury that limited my movement for over a year. The workout is displayed on screens around the studio which means the instructor can focus on ensuring correct technique and offering adjustments due to particular injuries.
After a year at Studio Pilates I have built significant strength, improved my posture, and decreased my neck pain. I'm really grateful for the studios focus on strength and mobility - rather than on weight loss or looking a certain way.
The staff (and owner!) are all encouraging, respectful, knowledgable, and warm. The owner makes a significant effort to make the space more financially accessible through discounts, special events, and packages. That being said, it is ultimately a very high-cost (albeit high reward) way to exercise. Studio Pilates is a stretch for my budget - but has been beyond worth it for me. They've got me hooked :)

The most intense and engaging reformer workout you can find! The video screen format allows teachers to focus on your form and encourage you to push harder. No two classes are the same. It's the closest thing to having a personal trainer without the high price point!

I have endometriosis and this Pilates ORIENTATION class threw me out. Suffering from intense pain after the class for days, I decided to reach out to the studio for a refund. I was told I couldn’t get a refund because I had already tried a class. If I was in pain I needed a doctor’s note indicating I could no longer do the classes. First of all, do you know that we live in the U.S. where the first sign of a woman complaining about pain to their health provider is a scoff. Secondly, Mind you their system doesn’t let you try out a full class until you go through a compulsory orientation. I didn’t even go through a full round and their version of Pilates caused a pelvic pain flare up. The way this system functions is not at all nurturing to various bodies abilities, especially at the introductory level. Do better Studio Pilates, rather than eating up all the money you can get, listen to the feedback that the community is giving you. This isn’t it. Get it together.
********UPDATE********
Rather quickly after writing this review, I was met with the kindest and caring phone call from the manager Marisa. She communicated her concern with how my situation was handled and apologized greatly for the way the front desk dealt with things. I appreciate hearing how much she truly cares about the community and especially when it comes to people's health. That reach she made to connect with me personally shows me that repair is possible and she and her studio are willing to do the hard work and take accountability. Lastly, she processed my refund. Thank you Marisa, I appreciate you and your loving correction of this situation.

Incredibly supportive staff, all bodies welcome, great workout! My only suggestion would be to offer an unlimited classes membership, in order to encourage fitness and health and attendance at more classes! Prices are steep! Also at some point offer lockers, showers, or toiletries to refresh after a workout!

Studio Pilates International is great! I wasn't looking for a new, regular fitness class-- most of my focus is on running, and I was a long-time (happy) member of a popular HIIT franchise. I figured I'd throw in a few classes for variety, after a recommendation and orientation via Classpass. Now, somehow, I'm totally hooked-- I'm two Amplify challenges in and am kicking myself for not buying 100 classes in April. Here are the things that won me over:
The model is _great_, especially if you care a lot about form; between the videos, concurrent verbal guidance, and simultaneous corrections from instructors, you can really perfect your technique.
And speaking of instructors, they're all good. I've had everyone by this point and there's literally no one that I avoid-- they're consistent in the ways that matter, but the structure is such that they can still share their personalities & preferences.
Quality control, for lack of a better way to put it, is very high-- no one is phoning it in (which includes the folks working the front desk who have a genuine, strong customer service orientation-- and are just, like, super nice people). The space is always beautiful and clean, and when something goes wrong-- say there's an app issue with your classes-- they get to the bottom of it and make it right.
I literally can't think of a negative (maybe that it's getting, rightfully, super popular so I have to plan more in advance when booking?) Regardless, if you're on the fence, definitely give it a try!

I like a good pilates workout as much as the next person, but this place is not it. This review is more of a PSA. First off, if you are neurodivergent or have ADD, ADHD, trouble focusing, this format is terrible. I consider myself neurotypical and still had trouble focusing in these classes. And I've been to many different kinds of gyms, classes, etc. At Studio Pilates there are screens everywhere with a video playing of someone doing the workout that you're supposed to follow, music that is playing over the video of the person talking (the instructors do not have control over the volume of the music, another red flag), AND on top of that, the instructor is also speaking. They say the reason for this is so that you get the best individual attention as possible. I do not mean to criticize the instructors, they are doing their jobs the best they can, and they are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It is the entire ethos behind this company that is troubling. It's a money grab. The ethos of, you watch the video so the instructors (who never once demonstrate anything on a reformer) can give you more attention, feels like a lie. This way they can almost push it as the benefits of small group workouts, while still having 15 people per class and offer 13 sessions in one day. If it were more affordable, or they tried to do any community classes, to better serve the community that they are in, then I might understand. But it's still expensive. Look, I've belonged to gyms, I'm down for a soul cycle class (where there is an instructor in front of you actually doing the exercises), high intensity, etc. This spot feels cold, soulless. Again, not the fault of the instructors. I get it, it's convenient, but there are waaaaay better pilates studios out there. Waaaay better workouts that are small business in this neighborhood that cost the same (or have sliding scale and are more affordable) and will give you a much better, focused and tailored to you workout. This place is always busy, so I'm sure I'm not changing anyone's mind. The reviews seem skewed or hidden if they aren't favorable. Go on reddit and you'll see what people really think of this corporate "international" pilates business. Just here to say, if you haven't already tried this place, look somewhere else in the neighborhood. Studio Pilates is NOT IT.

Studio Pilates is a wonderful and welcoming space. There are folks of all sizes, shapes, and ages here, which is not always the case. I want to give a huge shoutout to a particular instructor - Jackie. If you are new to pilates, definitely take the orientation class with Jackie. She is the biggest reason I felt like I could make it through one class, let alone make pilates a regular part of my life. She encouraged me to the point of knowing that I could do hard things. She is a full believer that anyone can do pilates, and when I had an injury (not from class), she adjusted all the moves necessary, just for me, so that I could still be a full participant in class and get a great workout. Jackie is a star, so very kind, and a big part of why this SP branch is such a hit. I am so incredibly grateful for her guidance, patience, and genuine care. Thank you, Jackie!!

As a man of a certain stance i have always been hesitant to do pilates as it seemed to me to be an activity that mainly women do and that i as a man would benefit little from. Each class has my body burning in a good way and i seriously feel a difference look wise and mentally as well. I am very grateful for my wife who encourage me to take pilates and i get to do an activity with her together that we both very much benefit from and enjoy. I would like to encourage more men to take classes as it really burns the muscles! The studio is clean, music is good and Jackie the instructor has such a spunk that makes me get things done on the reformer! Great place! Great form of workout!

EDIT - 5/27:
To the staffer from Studio Pilates who responded to this review: please text me if you'd genuinely like to discuss it further (or, even better, give me a refund). You have my name and my phone number, and we've texted in the past.
---
I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but this review is not of the workout or the instructors, but of disingenuous sales practices at the studio. When I bought an introductory six-pack of classes, the manager I spoke with promised I would get refunded for any classes I didn’t use if I couldn’t do the exercises (I have back issues and was mildly concerned about whether the classes would trigger more pain). After I took 2 classes and realized the exercises were indeed triggering severe back pain, I asked to get refunded for the 4 classes I didn’t use. The studio owner refused to give my money back because apparently it’s against store policy — despite the fact that the manager had explicitly promised to do so should things not work out with the classes. I would have continued going to these classes if my back hadn’t prevented me, but the whole refund debacle really turned me off of this place (not to mention the fact that I’m out $80).

Studio Pilates South Slope is the best! The instructors are all so warm and friendly and they’re always making sure you’re doing the moves correctly to avoid injury. They’ll also give suggestions for how to make exercises more challenging once they get to know you and know how hard you can push! Muscles that I didn’t even know I had are sore the next day and I saw a change in my body composition quicker than expected. Highly recommend them for anyone looking to get into Pilates.

I was so happy to find Studio Pilates after a long time of no exercise. The folks who work there, the teachers, are all kind, attentive, and compassionate. The workouts are the right length for my schedule, and they have so many classes each day. The studio itself it beautiful, clean, and light-filled, and the classes are small so you really get attention and adjustments from the teachers.

I received the first package deal of 6 lessons as a Christmas gift from my daughter. Had my orientation and was a little petrified at first but pushed through it and then managed to complete the first two weeks. After that, I think I got hooked! Bought another package deal. I'm feeling so much better now. A lot of my back pain is gone and I'm feeling less pain in my joints. I feel much more limber and feel like my posture has improved. All the instructors I have had have been incredibly supportive and encouraging. Although the classes are usually full, the instructors are attentive to everyone. Special shout out to Brianna L and Bri B! They always give enough support with an asterisk on how to support our bodies to help us complete our goals in our sessions. My only qualm is that I wish the company had more options for package deals to accommodate more passive users. It seems like someone has to be a Pilates addict or a mild Pilates user.

4 weeks and I liked it! I had not exercised for many years, and hate gyms, or running in the park. I came to this studio after searching many options in the neighborhood. Started with the 6 class pack, and when finished I decided to continue. The studio in general is great, you can pick classes at your convenience, instructors are kind, they correct you and help you improve. The classes are great, and very much like the timing and structure. My body feels good!

I really wanted to hate on this very expensive studio/practice, but I can't think of a single negative thing about my experiences here.
Staff is friendly and all of the instructors are fantastic. Theres no fluff, come in, get an amazing workout and go home. I love it.
TV monitors throughout the studio and instructive audio along with the instructors visiting everyone for adjustments helps with learning the postures and form.
Little details like text messages after the first class are really thoughtful.
In only two weeks I'm noticing drastic changes in my core strength, posture and flexibility. If I lived closer, I'd come every day.
I see all types of people and body sizes in the classes which is also nice. I'm looking forward to deepening my pilates practice with SPI.

I do want to point out that the studio plays videos of the exercises during the class on multiple screens. I was surprised at first and didn't love that I can't take a screen break during exercise. If you really want to be in a screens-free environment, it may not be the right fit for you.

Really loving attending Studio Pilates so far! All of the instructors have been incredibly welcoming and helpful during classes.
If you’re new to reformer Pilates this is a great place to start. You’re required to do an orientation class to get to know the movements/how to use the reformer which makes it even easier to dive in. During classes there are TVs that have a demonstration of the movement so that the instructor can spend the class adjusting students positions and ensure you’re doing it correctly, which I understand as a teaching method may not for everyone, but I’ve found it super helpful as a new student.

I signed up for SP one month ago due to the influence of my sister and I am so very happy I did! I had high expectations for Studio Pilates based on the many 5-star reviews here. Unfortunately, my first orientation class failed to live up to those expectations. The heavy reliance on video-based instruction, even with an in-person instructor present, was the biggest disappointment. Additionally, the setup with overlapping audio from the video, instructor, and music made it difficult to stay focused and fully enjoy the workout. While I appreciate the studio's effort to incorporate video to make it easier to understand the mechanics of pilates, it all left me feeling disconnected and unsatisfied. I had hoped for a much more engaging experience.
It's worth mentioning that the instructor and manager were both delightful, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere including a welcome goodie bag (hence the two stars).
I genuinely prefer writing positive reviews, but I felt compelled to provide honest feedback. My apologies, Studio Pilates!

Kicked off my experience with this studio this week and I could not be more impressed! I had done pilates classes in the past on a mat and was always a little intimidated by the reformer machine but the beginners program at Studio Pilates International South lope is phenomenal! You join an orientation with other folks just getting started (which also makes it that much less intimidating) and learn all about the machine and your body before diving into any intense workouts!
Everyone at the studio is so welcoming and so supportive of your pilates journey! The studio is so clean and inviting as well.
Each workout is unique and the perfect amount of time to feel the burn! The classes are the perfect size too where the instructor can really get around to everyone and work with their individual needs.

Fun, enjoyable and low-impact workout — with lovely instructors and a good studio vibe. But, question for other studio-goers: how do you manage the scheduling headache??
There’s only 14 machines, so classes fill up incredibly fast — a testament to the studio, but it becomes very difficult to meet your fitness goals if your life/schedule has any variability.
It’s doable if you can just book the same slots every week, well in advance, and be certain that your schedule won’t change. But if something comes up and you need to cancel your spot, you will have a hard time finding another class that same week. Wait list is almost always already at least 3 people long during peak hours, and the latest class of the day is at 7:30p.
So it’s virtually impossible to casually join a class, e.g. sign up the day beforehand, especially when they’re running promotions like “hell week” (a good fitness challenge but a scheduling nightmare to have everyone trying to squeeze 10 workouts into the same week with extremely finite spots as it is).
Curious to hear what others have experienced. But just something to consider before you buy a $$ class pass.

Edit: I dropped a full 2 inches from my waist with this studio. Insanely effective workout
TL;DR: really wonderful, clean, cheerful Pilates reformer studio in BK!
Disclosure: writing this review for a free class.
The concept is that primary/adjustment cues are given from TVs located around the studio (all easily viewable). An instructor walks around and gives more personalized adjustments as the class goes on. I really like that they give a range of spring weights and modifications to make the sequences easier or harder.
Pros:
* it's a really good workout! Like really good. I'm usually shaking at some point in class
* high energy class without feeling bootcamp-y
* instructors are great and definitely know what they're doing
* decent price point for Pilates in NYC! Cheaper than classical and similar to competitors like SLT
To consider:
* if you're like me and coming from more classical Pilates; don't expect the amount of attention to form/alignment/counterstretches that you would get from duets/trios. The TV certainly cues corrections but it can be hard to internalize/correct without the live instructor looking at you.
* classes book up fast. The waitlist works though; I feel like I get into classes 50% of the time from the waitlist
Overall, I'm really excited to have this studio nearby and certainly will be renewing my subscription.

I broke my pelvis in a car accident a year ago and have some minor (but super annoying and limiting) lingering mobility issues that had been keeping me from getting back to my prior levels of movement and exercise - I’m in my late 20s and had always been very active, so I was really struggling with both my mental and physical health post-accident due to my physical limitations. I’m so glad I found Studio Pilates, where I’ve been able to learn about how my “new body” moves in a really fun, challenging, and safe way! I’ve been attending classes here for a little over a month and am already feeling so empowered, strong, and inspired by what I’ve been able to accomplish in these classes, all thanks to the wonderful support from all of the amazing instructors (special shout-out to Jackie who always makes me feel heard, offering modifications when I need them and checking in on me throughout class to make sure my body is feeling good).
I highly recommend these challenging, low-impact, and effective workouts if you’re recovering from an injury or if you’re just looking for a really fun and fast-paced way to move your body and build strength. It’s done wonders for my self confidence as well, helping me to feel strong and powerful again in a way that I haven’t felt since before my accident. Thank you, Studio Pilates!!

I love this place. I love the studio, the instructors, the workout, the machines, everything. I have been to many pilate reformer studios and this is my favorite workout. I'm so glad I found it. I tried my first class at the end of the summer. When I went to buy the introductory package (which is a great deal), I accidentally purchased a month at another pilate studio nearby. I walked in and was immediately disappointed at the difference. Studio Pilates always has an instructor that asks me about my injuries or issues (I had a spinal fusion so it always makes me feel comfortable when they ask) and this other studio did not. Also, Studio Pilates has monitors throughout the space so even if the instructor can't be near you for every exercise, I always feel like I can look at a nearby monitor and correct myself. The instructors always seem to remember me and come to me with a modified version of the exercise for my back should I need it. I've missed the pilates reformer during the pandemic and I am so happy to find a place nearby that I really like. Highly recommend.

I don't know when I first noticed the "Coming soon!" sign but after I did, I walked by day after day with my pup, peeking into the studio windows hoping it'd open soon. It took me a year after opening to take my first class but am glad I did. I'm grateful to Marisa and community for creating a community-oriented space to support each other in getting stronger physically and mentally. I've done mostly mat Pilates off and on for 25+ years so it's been fun getting on the reformer. Instructors are attentive to form and encouraging. At first it was the convenience-Stydio Pilates is 2 black from me. That’s what brought me there. But I keep coming back because the instructors are extremely helpful and attentive and because I (somewhat surprisingly) appreciate the video lessons so that I can watch carefully and correct my positioning when possible.

I've had a great experience at Studio Pilates-- I've done mat classes before but am new to the reformer. The instructors are helpful, positive, and eager to help with adjustments. I love the dual video/live aspect-- it makes getting the right form much easier. The space is beautiful and pristine, and the price point is amazing for a reformer Pilates class.

Classes are great! 40 minute classes, they have both the instructor and pre-recorded screens giving you the visual.
All the instructors are warm, friendly, know how to motivate you, and also walk around the class to make corrections to each individual. I find the classes to generally give focus on more of a full body workout.
Also want to call out how clean the facility is, they do a great job at maintaining it.

I never thought I’d find the perfect workout and community for me until Studio Pilates. It is my happy place. Their workouts are the perfect combination toning and challenging cardio. I used to do HIIT/boot camp style workouts, however, due to my injuries, I had to scale it back a bit in terms of intensity. The instructors at Studio Pilates ask about your injuries and your health every class to make sure your workout is tailored to your need. Please do yourself and give this a try. You’ll never look back.

I recently moved to New York and have been searching for a good Pilates studio. After trying many places and being disappointed, I stumbled upon Studio Pilates….thank goodness. To only do they offer classes that fit my schedule, they are excellent and challenging classes that fit my needs. The instructors and knowledgeable, outstanding and so friendly. I have foregone all other exercise programs just to take more classes at Studio Pilates. I am addicted and totally love the classes and the people!

I love this place so much. I NEVER thought I would be the person to pay for individual workout classes of any kind. After doing the intro pack (6 classes in 2 weeks), I realized that was the best I've felt in YEARS. I'm more energetic, focused, confident, and strong!
One of my favorite parts is that the instructor comes around and takes note of how everyone's body is feeling. I sometimes have pain in my wrists, and if I let them know, they will be RIGHT at my machine 2 seconds before the workout that will use my wrist and set up my machine for the alternative work out. I mean, you just feel so seen! haha
The community aspect is also amazing. From Marissa, to all of the instructors, and from the other people in the class. It has been truly amazing. You won't regret it!

I highly recommend Studio Pilates-South Slope. I just finished my 10th class and I just love it every time! In the beginning it felt intimidating since I do not have any experience with a reformer - the instructors (and staff) has been exceptional. They are all super friendly, professional, they really help you learn the ins and outs of reformer Pilates. It is an intense great core and full body work out. I feel the aches and burn in my muscles are just all worth it as I feel my body is getting stronger and I am very happy with the results. I love it that they know when I come in with my friend that they always put us next to each other :-)
The studio is super clean I feel safe and comfortable working out at the studio. Thank you Studio Pilates South Slope! I am so glad to be part of this amazing community.

Love Studio Pilates in South Slope. Great core work, full-body workouts, and personalized attention from instructors. Kicks my @$$ even with my background in heavy strength training outside of pilates classes!

Studio Pilates South Slope is, quite simply, my happy place. I go there to feel stronger and stronger in my body and mind, to escape my complicated thoughts in our current global circumstances, to experience a sense of community among the amazing staff and just to have a ton of fun reaching achievements I didn't know I could accomplish. I've recommended this studio to pretty much everyone I know IRL, so I'm happy to do it virtually, as well! Go there NOW -- trust me! :)

I’m extremely happy I discovered this studio couple of months ago. Since then I purchased a couple of packages to make sure I never run out of passes since I love it so much. From the owner Marisa to the instructors, everyone in the studio is wonderful. I love Jackie especially since she teaches lots of morning classes I usually take. Most importantly I see results especially after having baby in summer, I see how my body changes and becomes stronger, toned and resilient. This is not your typical Pilates, this is Studio Pilates - very unique concept of Pilates on TV with the instructor having time to adjust and guide you.

Highly recommend. The workouts are tough, though the instructors are great at helping you with modifications if needed. I started going when I was 5 months postpartum so did need some guidance. Every instructor was happy to help. They are all friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The studio is very clean, and the covid protocols clear and consistently followed. I feel comfortable working out here in every way - and always leave feeling strong and refreshed!

Prior to moving to Park Slope this summer, I had never done Pilates. My workouts were in the gym and consisted mostly of weight lifting with some cardio. I passed by the studio one day and decided to give it a try. That was at the beginning of June; since then I've attended 1-2 classes per week, mixed in with going to the gym/working with weights. The muscle burn from these workouts is like nothing I've ever gotten from the gym (in the best way). The TV's throughout the studio show someone doing each exercise the proper way, so you can compare your movements to theirs. Meanwhile, the instructor is walking around the room and giving personalized coaching/feedback to each person throughout each exercise. In the ~25 times I've attended, I've never done the same routine more than once (apparently they cycle through over 100 different ones). The place is kept very clean and the instructors couldn't be nicer. Very grateful for finding this place and I highly highly recommend it.
