I found Sunshine Dance Studio after a disappointing experience at another studio, and I’m so grateful I did. Their website was incredibly easy to navigate and full of helpful information, which made me feel confident enrolling my daughter right away. To my surprise, Miss Claudia reached out just minutes after I registered—even though it was the weekend. She spent nearly an hour on the phone with me, answering all of my questions and immediately putting me at ease.

Miss Claudia noticed my daughter’s pigeon-toed stance and kindly offered supportive advice, something no one else had ever pointed out. From day one, it’s been clear that both Miss Claudia and Miss April are genuinely passionate about helping the kids grow and succeed. They are patient, encouraging, and truly care about each student.

My daughter absolutely loves going to ballet class, and thanks to Miss Claudia’s generous make-up class options, she was also able to explore tap and jazz—now she wants to take them all! My son, who’s under three, used to cry because he wanted to stay and be part of the fun. Miss Claudia gave him a chance to try acro, and after seeing how well he did, she welcomed him into the class despite his age.

I have so many other instances where Miss Claudia has been helpful, kind, and supportive outside of dance class. My family truly appreciates her and everything she does for us. She is a genuinely wonderful person, and it speaks volumes about her character.

I’m beyond happy we found this studio, and I can’t recommend Sunshine Dance Studio enough for any parent looking for a nurturing, high-quality dance environment.

My experience with Sunshine Dance Studio has been amazing! I have been taking the Pilates/Yoga class for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it! Claudia is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. My daughters absolutely love their dance classes with Ms. Claudia and her staff. Everyone is so welcoming and my two and four year old are completely comfortable being there without Mom or Dad. Every week they are excited to go to class and show us their "new moves" when they get out. Jaida: Within the 8 months I've been at the studio I can't get enough of wanting to come back. I definitely feel more connected with everyone at the studio and I do feel more relaxed and I’m able to be myself around everyone. I love seeing the other classes when I arrive at the studio and I do love taking the Horton class, it’s a challenging class but it’s a good challenge to handle. Both of my daughters (4,5) started in the Fall of 2023 and they love it and have learned so much from the instructors. On top of learning dance and techniques, they are also learning respect and proper listening skills when following the instructors. My oldest daughter loves the classes and has been practicing more at home putting some technique into her free spirited dancing. It is just great to watch! My youngest daughter took a little longer to catch on but that’s because she hasn’t been in a structured setting aside from Day Care. She didn’t like the thought of me leaving while they focus on class. It has now grown on her as she gets to take classes with her sister and learn new things. My grand-daughter has been going to Sunshine Dance Studio for 8 years and loves it! Miss Claudia is a wonderful person and instructor. There are many different classes at the studio. Emily participates in Adaptive Creative Movement which is for those with special needs. She has grown over the years in confidence, strength and socially and this year added the Swing Jazz dance class which is not a special needs class and involves more challenging and complex dance combinations.
Miss Claudia is good and fair with all of her students. She knows each students strengths and weaknesses. She encourages each and everyone.
Something that I really appreciate is that she always takes time to communicate clearly with parents.
Some of her students assist with other classes so they too are learning the skill of teaching/coaching and some have gone on to pursue careers as speech, dance and talk therapists.
The staff and students are all very polite and caring.

I found this dance studio after searching and contacted about 20 different places. We started my daughter right after they opened there new location that is absolutely beautiful. My daughter loves it! And the dance instructors are all amazing. You can even take classes online and have make up sessions on other days which is so convenient for a working mom or dad.

My special needs daughter loves to dance. During the pandemic we were extemely fortunate to find Sunshine Dance Studios. They provided lessons via zoom where my daughter was able to take the special needs ACM class and the solo swing class. Miss Claudia and Miss April were amazing in making my daughter feel comfortable with learning new styles of dance via the computer. Now my daughter absolutely enjoys going into studio, she finally is able to dance with others and has made new friends. She spends her Saturday taking Jazz/hip hop/tap, ACM and swing class with Miss Claudia, Miss April and Miss Nicole. Everyone at the studio is caring, patient, and respectful. On the first day of class my oldest daughter miah was so nervous. Miss Claudia saw miah reaction and immediately took action and pulled Miah to be a helper for the younger students, which made miah more comfortable. Miah walker out loving the classes. Update: I came to post about my personal 5 star Pilates experience with Miss Claudia.
To my surprise I read the one star review by Alexander. Her experience is NOT a reflection of Miss Claudia's style. My daughter has danced with Sunshine for almost 10 years. I took Pilates for 2.5 years.
Communication: Miss Claudia has never lacked in communication. She sends multiple emails, text messages and even phone calls.

Studio: As far as her former studio. She did us a favor by moving. The former building is in dire need of work. In fact one of the buildings adjacent to her previous studio was recently torn down. Her current studio is very clean, good lighting and cheerful. The air quality is great!

Parking: is not lacking. Most parents drop off their children and keep it moving. But there is room to park if needed.

Observing classes: Miss Claudia has always made it a practice to allow parents to observe the last 5 minutes of classes. She tells you this when you sign up. She gives updates on how your child is doing. I have never been to a dance studio where they allow parents to hang around and watch. Not even when I took dance classes in Manhattan as a child.

I felt the need to defend Sunshine's reputation as well as the excellent and professional staff. Miss Claudia and her staff helped mold my daughter to be confident and strong. She is on the high honor roll in school. She learned dance and positive attributes that will stay with her for life. The entire staff CARES about your child. Every child counts at Sunshine Dance Studio. Please do not let one star Alex deter you. Your children will be happy here. I am happy here.

If you are looking for a dance studio that teaches great technique while having fun, then the Sunshine Dance Studio is THE PLACE to go! My daughter loves going to dance classes here. Miss Claudia is professional and cares about her students.

I had the unfortunate experience of going to another dance school in the area because I was lured in by the marketing. I spent lots of money for my daughter to be taught by other students who were not professionally trained. The communication at the former dance school was poor and the dance technique was subpar. You won't get that experience at the Sunshine Dance Studio. Miss Claudia teaches most of her classes or has teachers that are competent in dance. Miss Claudia is professionally trained and educated in dance. Just check out her website. She also allows you to observe the last 10 minutes of class so that you can see what your child has learned. Miss Claudia is readily available for any questions or concerns you might have.
If you are going to spend your hard earned money on extracurricular activities, go to a place where you will get quality and actually learn the art of dance. I am happy we found this studio!

We enrolled our daughter in classes after reading so many wonderful reviews about this school. We were excited to meet the staff and see what our daughter would be doing, as we had in other schools that she had been in.

After being delayed for 4 weeks due to construction, and then being told the week before the school had actually moved, we arrived to a new building with little to no parking and no signs saying where the school was. When we finally found it, we were greeted with a mask mandate that wasn’t communicated, and a room that was a quarter of the size of their old space. These things we could deal with. It was what followed that completely soured our opinion of the school.

The man at the entrance simply told about the masking and then told us that we could leave and didn’t have to stick around. While he was polite, we were confused. In other schools, we more than welcome to wait and watch our daughter enjoy her class. When we told him we wanted to wait, he got annoyed and immediately got the owner. When she approached us she explained that they don’t allow the parents to wait and that we should use this as “free time” and that we could come back five minutes before class ended to watch. She then basically pushed us out of the building.

This wasn’t communicated before hand, so our daughter was upset by this. Once we assured her we were just outside, we left to find other parents waiting in the parking lot just as confused and irritated as us. One parent went back in to complain, and instead of being gracious and helping we later heard the headmistress aggressively complaining to her staff about the parent, fully in front of the children they were supposed to be teaching.

When we went back to watch, the instructors were already cleaning up and the headmistress had to tell the instructor to go back and show us what they had taught our daughter. We were greeted with a 5 minute stretching session that showed us nothing that our daughter didn’t already know before going into the class.

Between this all this, the complete lack of communication on the staff’s part and the fact that the classes are 30 minutes long, which is half the time other dance studios are offering at twice the price, this studio does not hold its value at all.

Our daughter has been attending the adaptive creative movement class since before the pandemic. Ms. Claudia and her staff went above and beyond to offer the classes online. A few weeks ago our daughter participated in her first recital. My husband and I were moved to tears seeing our daughter perform the routine that she had worked on for weeks under the tutelage of Ms. April ( who is amazing!) Our daughter is an Autistic person and has sensory processing disorder and this can make things difficult for her but the classes are tailored to the students needs. At first I was skeptical about enrolling my kids into the studio because they were only instructing classes remotely however during their trial class they were receiving quality/ interactive instruction. The instructors are great and the owner is always available if you have any questions. There are parent classes available as well! My kids and I are very happy with Sunshine Dance Studio.

Our experiences with Ms. Claudia's live online classes have been amazing! Ms. Claudia has been so supportive during our initial and ongoing supportive communication. Their online registration forum is very easy to navigate. There are so many choices for live online weekly performing arts and fitness and there are classes for both children and adults. My daughter loves Ms. Claudia and Ms. April! As a parent of a child with disabilities, this has been such a wonderful experience! I highly recommend any parent to explore the many possibilities with Sunshine Dance Studios' variety of classes! Sunshine Dance Studio has had such a positive impact on my 9 year old daughter. Miss Claudia and her team are wonderful teachers... engaging students in person and now via Zoom lessons. Not only do the teachers share their knowledge of dance but they also motivate students (young and old) to be their best in all areas of life. Our son recently enrolled in Sunshine Dance Studio’s dance and art virtual classes. It’s a great way for him to remain active and busy during this unprecedented pandemic. All of the instructors are absolutely wonderful, engaging, and professional (renowned performers who have studied at world-class institutions). Registration is a breeze online and Miss Claudia made everything seamless and easy. MJ makes his contemporary dance classes fun and engaging (and we love his music choices). Miss April is lovely, patient, and always encourages my son’s creativity during her art classes. We live over 2 hrs away so the virtual classes at Sunshine Dance Studio has been a life saver for us. His grandmother is also enrolled in dance and art classes and it’s a great way for them to “see” each other every week since we can’t visit in person. We love the Sunshine Dance Studio team!!!

My daughters are participating in an excellent dance program that's online and live with professional teachers from the Hudson Valley area. I'd like to share the program with others as I really feel that it is a great resource for parents that are currently home with their children during this time, but it's also great for adults too. There are so many dance and fitness classes available. The environment is professional, and tailored to meet the needs of each dancer. During this pandemic, my girls have been able to have a healthy social life as a result of Sunshine Dance Studio. I am incredibly grateful and I hope others discover it too.

We have really enjoyed bringing our daughter to Sunshine Dance Studio. She was young (just turning 3), but Miss Claudia allowed her to start and has helped her make some great progress. Our daughter has been attending classes since the summer of 2019 and absolutely loves the owner, staff and fellow students! The classes are prompt, organized, fun and well structured. Our daughter is currently undergoing chemotherapy resulting in the loss of her hair along with some physical limitations. The owner and instructors have been very conscious and accommodating to her circumstances and make her feel just as capable and beautiful as the rest of her peers! I love Sunshine Dance Studios! All the opportunities that it gives children of all ages! My daughter loves taking her classes she has been going for a while, I would not go anywhere else. Her social development, behavior, confidence, and physical abilities has improved so much since going to this studio. Tap is one of her favorites, as she tells us. My Granddaughter who is 6 really enjoys the dance studio, Miss Claudia is very structured and focus the kids on basics first, then expands. There is no pressure and no recitals every other month like other studios , so the kids are learning to really dance not just routines for a show. It also keeps the cost down. There are a lot of options in Middletown for dance studios but Sunshine Dance Studio is by far the best. The studio is ran very professionally. Miss Claudia and her team are amazing instructors. I believe that Sunshine Dance Studio has helped make a positive impact on my daughter, Stella’s life. She is the second to youngest out of 6 children, and she struggled with attention issues with her peers prior to attending dance class. She continues to face social challenges at times, but the caring dance teachers help her to make positive and appropriate relationship building choices. My daughter attends the adaptive creative movement class on Saturday’s. She learns a variety of styles at a pace that is suitable for her. We’ve been going for nearly 5 years. Highly recommended. Met with Claudia asking her to help us with a different mother/son dance. We wanted to start with a slow song then break out into a fun dance routine. Considering my son and I have two left feet she had her work cut out for her! Claudia always made sure we felt very comfortable and always had a positive attitude. Claudia always worked around our schedule and even offered extra time with us. She Is an amazing teacher, choreographer, and dancer. We were lucky to have her!!! My 4 year old has been with Sunshine Dance Studios (pre-ballet/tiny tap/acro) for 2 years and it has been one of the best choices my husband and myself has made as far as extracurricular activities outside of school. Ms. Claudia is extensive as an instructor and a real profession in her field. She displays discipline for dance with the students and they all have a good time learning and developing their skills as a dancer. It is very exciting to attend the recitals and to see how my daughter has developed and progressed. This is so rewarding. I appreciate the care and quality that Ms. Claudia provides not only for her students but also for the parents. I also take the pilates/yoga which has been so beneficial to myself especially after having children. I'm formally a gym buff but this has changed my perspective of working out to a different level. After 2 months of taking pilates/yoga, my back pain has subsided and my body overall feels stronger and toned. She makes you feel comfortable and confident and encourages you to be your best self in this class. There's a really nice group of students in the class that vary in age and they all make you feel welcome. This has overall been such a great experience for myself and my daughter. Both of my sons attend dance class at Sunshine. We could not ask for a better dance expierence. Miss Claudia teaches ballet technique and terminology, not just routines. She has the perfect balance of fun and structure. The boys are learning, yet continue to want to add dance classes because they enjoy being at the studio. Miss April teaches tap and jazz with passion and enthusiasm. Her emphasis on swing dance is something the boys are really enjoying. Miss Korina teaches hip-hop and jazz. She is teaching edgy, visually interesting moves that my boys can not get enough of. They have so much fun dancing, they practice without being asked to. I can't wait for the next recital to see how much they have improved!

Update: As stated above, I had no doubt in my mind that my boys were receiving the best dance training available in Orange County, NY. But, lets face it, it's Orange County, not exactly a place that's teeming with top notch education in the arts. Well, we have recently moved to NYC. Jonah is looking for a studio here and auditioning for performing arts High Schools. What I have learned through this process is that Ms. Claudia has provided Jonah with an exemplary education in Ballet and Contemporary dance. He has been confident and prepared for every audition he entered. His technique and understanding of terminology has been complimented by professionals in the field. People can't believe he wasn't trained in the city. We have been having a hard time finding a studio here that meets the standards Jonah has come to expect as a given at Sunshine. For now he is taking walk in classes at STEPS and BroadwayDance Center until we have an opportunity to explore studios further. We are also traveling back to Middletown most weekends so he can continue privates with Ms. Claudia... she is more then worth it! Ms. Claudia has become Jonah's "dance MOM" and she is his biggest fan on his best days and his biggest critic on his worst days. She knows him like her own chid and has a uncanny sense of when and how had to push him. She has brought out the best in Jonah and we can't recommend her enough!

I wanted to share my experience at Sunshine Dance Studio with Miss Claudia. I am a mother of a 2 1/2 year old little boy looking for positive & structured activities for learning and releasing energy. This studio was recommended to me by a friend who has 2 very talented & dedicated young boys who live to dance. Miss Claudia welcomed my toddler into her 3 y/o class although he is a little young and he made it through half without mommy and worked hard to follow along with the "big kids." I was extremely impressed with her professional demeanor, experience, and management of her students.
Miss Claudia got in contact to discuss my son's experience within the dance class and to plan ahead for this fall when he will be ready to participate more independently. It is evident that Miss Claudia has an extensive background of education, dance, and teaching strategies. I absolutely loved her approach and the way she managed her students. My son attends class here for tap/ hip hop and also the theater/musical drama, he is always excited to go and looks forward to it each week. We started attending the dance so he could feel comfortable dancing at a wedding, and he ended up taking on more! We have to travel also about 50 minutes to get here and it is so worth it. The students are so welcoming as are the parents and the teachers are phenomenal! Miss Claudia runs a loving happy studio that also is teaching dance technique and giving kids confidence at the same time. My son has gained so much from just two seasons attending here, they build your child up. This is truly a top notch professional studio that we are really lucky to have in our area without having to travel to the city.

I am an adult taking classes with Ms Claudia and I enjoy the classes and the interaction between students and staff and the attention to detail that all are given. I am a 30 year old male, who was tired of going to weddings, watching everyone dancing and having so much fun. So, I decided to take a shot in the dark and called up sunshine studios, to see if they could help me and my 2 left feet. Upon my first arrival to my first private lesson I was nervous, and unsure what to expect. I met Claudia, instantly she made me feel welcome and at ease. She gave me the confidence to dance and have fun with dancing to so many popular songs of all types. Now I'm able to go out and and enjoy myself with everyone!!! My daughter is currently attending Sunshine Dance Studio in 3 different classes. We choose this studio because of its wide variety of classes and summer program. Miss. Claudia and the dance instructors are a dedicated team. My family and I attended my daughters recital, May 2017. I have to say. It was GREAT! There was no high-tech lighting or over the top back drops. It was all about the dancers and performers. The music and costumes went well with every performance. My brother-in-law agrees. He had to leave half way through to make it to a business meeting and he enjoyed the performances so much he stayed longer than he should have. That goes to show you Miss. I have to admit that when i first thought about putting my dauther into dance I was very reluctant but after speaking and meeting Ms Claudia I knew that my dauther was in good hands. I explained to Ms. Claudia that my daugther had health issues and she was welcomed with opened arms. Ms. Claudias love for dance and for each one of her students shines through. She not only gave my daugther a love for dance but she gave her confidence and self esteem. Recently, my daugther had her recitals and my 15 year old son joined us to support his little sister. My 5 year old daughter has been taking classes at Sunshine for almost 2 years now. She is currently in the Ballet/Creative Movement class, as well as Tiny Tap. Miss Claudia runs her classes with the perfect balance of fun and structure. The other children in the class are well-behaved and she does not tolerate anything less. The kids know what is expected of them. The class has older students who help out and these girls are professional and interact nicely with the young children. My daughter loves all of the helpers and looks up to them. This is a great experience for these older girls.
Miss Claudia is as organized as they come. She explains everything in detail to both the parents and children. Everyone knows exactly what will happen at the performances and I believe this is what helped get my very anxious child through the recital last year. We were shocked that she performed with no tears. The children were well taken care of backstage and we got to relax and enjoy the show. I highly recommend Sunshine Dance Studio.

My daughter is four year old and just started with Miss Claudia at Sunshine Dance Studios, and she loves it! My daughter started driving me nuts months ago about taking dance classes. I went on to google and found Sunshine Dance, so I sent Miss Claudia a message, and she got back to me the very next day. I signed my daughter up for a trial and she was hooked! She loves Sunshine dance and talks about it all the time! She partook in the summer recital and loved it, she loved watching the older girls perform, and getting to see what she'll eventually be able to do. I loved that Miss Claudia explained everything that she does with them, why she does it, and how it will help them in the future.

I've looked at other schools, some are very unprofessional and others act very snobbish. Miss Claudia is so sweet and such a pleasure to deal with, we cannot wait for the fall session to start!

Sunshine Dance Studio is the best. I've been to other dance studios in the area for gymnastics and I did not feel as satisfied and confident as I do about Sunshine, Miss Claudia and all of her helpers. They give the tiny ones one-on-one instruction, and I think this is awesome b/c I believe it helps promote confidence. When watching the recitals and the after practice time, my husband and I are so proud of what our 4-year old has learned in less than a year with Sunshine. She is starting to practice her ballet, tap and acro moves at home. We have seen her come a long way. At 3 years old she even learned to jump with the help of Sunshine, and when I say jump, I mean jump high bringing her feet up to hit her bottom. I wondered where she was getting this skill from and when I saw the recital, I found out....from dance. My daughter is very independent and doesn't accept much help from others, so to see her learn this skill via Sunshine, I was thrilled. I love Miss Claudia and the other instructors and all of the helpers. I trust them so much that I found my first baby sitter through Sunshine. All of the children and older helpers are so well behaved and well mannered and I believe a lot of this has to come from the structure Miss Claudia and the others provide. I can go on and on, however, I'll stop here. I love Sunshine Dance Studio and so does my 4-year old.

Sunshine Dance Studio is a such a great place for my daughter who is very high energy, it is such a great safe place for her to use her energy, but she also needs to listen as well. She loves coming to class every week and has grown so much in her pre-ballet class. She gets valuable exercise every child can use without realizing she is doing anything more than having fun. As a former ballet and modern dancer, I was very particular about finding the best dance instruction for my daughter. Miss. Miss Claudia and Miss Grace are excellent instructors. They teach technique while keeping it fun for children. Very friendly and professional. Everything is nice and clean in the studio, the students are even responsible for helping clean the equipment they use during class. My daughter age 5 loves all the classes she takes and my son loves copying his sisters moves when she practices at home (when he is old enough to join class he will definitely be there loving it too). Overall they provide a superior structure to the classes that bring together a great balance of dance, discipline, and fun.
