I debated writing this review because I genuinely want to support Black-owned businesses, but I also feel it’s important to share my honest experience for women considering classes at Sweet n Sultry.

I joined SNS in February. My first class was with Mimi, and unfortunately she was not welcoming at all. For many students, this is their first time doing pole, so I expected more warmth and guidance. I decided to try another instructor, and that’s when I found Mila. She was the best instructor at SNS—welcoming, patient, and the only certified instructor there.

There was a six-week intro-to-pole series, and students from that series perform at the showcase. Because of my work schedule, I couldn’t do the series. In August, I found out the showcase was being opened to all students, so I spoke with the owner, Cue, about performing. She told me to talk to her daughter, which confused me since Cue is the owner. I DM'd Mimi but received no response. I went back to my instructor, Mila, who said she would speak to Cue for me. Eventually, I was approved to perform, and I was thrilled. I began booking private sessions with Mila specifically to prepare for the showcase.

A week before the showcase, I was told I could not perform. I was devastated. When I asked Cue why, she claimed she didn’t know I was performing and that she was juggling a lot. But she absolutely knew—on the private session form, I clearly stated that I was preparing for the showcase, and Cue is the one who approves all private sessions.

If you want to take pole seriously, I encourage you to look elsewhere for a studio that truly works in your best interest. You are the customer, you are spending your money, and you do not have to tolerate inconsistent communication or dismissive treatment. I’ve included screenshots showing Mimi’s lack of response and Cue’s message about not allowing me to perform.

Just took “Intro to Pole” with Kim, I could not have asked for a better experience! I have no dancing experience/never taken a dance class before and Kim made this class so fun and approachable. I’ve been so intimidated by even trying pole dance and I’m so grateful to have worked with Kim, she’s really helped me tapped into my confidence in the span of an hour ✨✨ Will definitely be coming back and so excited for my pole dancing journey!!!!

The business is a scam and this review is very much needed. I started my journey here in February. I locked in with one particular female who also started in February just days before me. We took this journey together consistently. After months of consistently coming, I signed up for the 6-Week Series to prepare myself for the upcoming performance. At the time my friend did not feel comfortable joining and said to me “I’m never going to perform I just don’t want to”. I respected exactly how my friend felt. I didn’t pressure her, but I did assure her that she would be great if she performed. Over the summer My friend finally felt ready to take join the 6WS and perform. Due to her work schedule, joining the 6WS was impossible so I suggested she should inquire about private lessons to prepare herself for the performance. At that point she contacted our instructor Mila in which she gave her the same advice. So my friend reached out to the owner’s daughter, Mimi (got no response) she reached out to the owner, Cue more than once, where Cue gave her the okay to perform. From that day forward my friend invested all her money into private classes, because private classes were 3x the amount of regular classes. A week before the showcase, I’m standing in the hallway and I over hear Cue telling Mila that my friend is unable to perform because she wants this show case to only be for people who took the series 😒😒. How do you tell someone they can’t perform the week before, after you know YOU gave them the okay. In that moment I was truly disappointed and disgusted by how the owner of this business just handled and conducted this situation. It was completely unprofessional. My friend was HURT. This woman has showed up to this business consistently for 9 MONTHS. Poured thousands of dollars into this studio. She felt like this studio was her home and she was really apart of this “community“, but how could she be when she’s treated like that. There was an email exchange between my friend and the owner, Cue just lied, lacked accountability, lacked compassion and stopped responding all together. She even lied saying no one asked for her to be apart of the showcase even though my friend has text messages, emails, DM’s and her forms for private classes stating she was preparing for the showcase. From that moment I knew Cue and SNS was no longer a person/business I wanted to give my money to. For Cue to always be yelling “community, confidence, sister hood“ all the time she sure didn’t display that. You have women POURING their hard earned money into YOUR business and you care nothing about them or how to handle situations with them.
After that I reached out to Cue to get a refund for my 10 class pass I just brought. Cue tried her very best to not refund me, even in our email exchange she lied to me. I told her I wasn’t comfortable continuing my pole journey at SNS and she tried to talk me in circles telling me there’s so many instructors and classes to choose from. At this very same time my instructor was either fired or quit (I’m not sure)and that was even more reason for me not to return. She was the only certified instructor there. Hence why I decided to start my journey with her! Cue then went on to lie to me telling me “certifications weren’t needed, the creator of pole con herself told me this.” 😒 I reached out to Colleen Jolly myself where she told me “it’s common for studios to not have certified instructors but she DOES NOT RECOMMENDED THAT AND ALL INSTRUCTORS SHOULD BE CPR CERTIFIED.“ However, due to her poor business skills and lack of knowledge Cue ultimately had to refund me. A business like this won’t go far when you treat your clients like this. I would not recommend this studio to anyone! Save your money. There’s so many studios to choose from. So many instructors to learn from. You won’t be confined to learning from one instructor or not being able to level up because ONE instructor doesn’t/wont let you level up. This business is a scam.

I loved the Intro to Pole with Melissa! Her vibe was welcoming and helpful, and her choreo was very simple; easy to understand and execute. The studio's vibe was equally welcoming, tidy, and spacious. Certain areas were chilly though. My favorite part was being able to put the steps together to create something of my own. Im definitely gonna book more classes soon!

It is harder than you think yet worth while. Have patience and yes I mess up all the time lol. Yessenia is really great at making you feel confident and comfortable. You learn a mini routine and get to strut your stuff. I booked an additional 5 classes for intro . To get used to the pole .

I always pass by the sign it’s right by my house so I finally decided to try my hand at it and took the intro to pole class. I had arrived 2 minutes into the class starting (6:15pm starting time btw) the instructor Mimi, barely welcomed me. She asked me my name and continued on with the class while I stood there awkwardly unaware of where I should put my belongings. She told me in time and I joined the rest of the class. The title of the class is misleading because I would say what was taught is not novice friendly. The class is a mixture of beginner and intermediate stages. Mimi would demonstrate a move once direct us to do it 4x, then move on the next. If your a visual learner like myself it would be more effectual to learn from the instructor versus a fellow newbie learning as well. She was vocal if you did something wrong but wouldn’t tell you if you got the steps right. Despite that, the class was fun and challenging.
I may try out a different instructor however, I think for someone’s first time/ potential returning customer a friendlier certified instructor would be more equipped at teaching a new activity.

Me and my sister had a blast at Sweet N Sultry! We took their intro to pole dance because we were interested in trying something new. We had such an amazing time with our instructor Yessenia. She was bubbly, supportive, and fun. I definitely will be coming back for more classes and fun! The place was very clean and professional.

Such a fun and welcoming experience at Sweet n Sultry!! ❤️ took another “Intro to Pole” class with the instructor Anastasia - she was experienced, patient, and overall just a fun soul to be around! She allowed for break-down in every move, the intentionality behind specific hand/body placements - very informative. BUT also allowed for consistent practice and gave us many moments to try and try until we achieved the end goal/move. She was also able to work well with the variety experiences we all had, slowed down for some and added extra layers to others! Knew how to read her students.

Aahhh I love it every time I go!! My favorite studio! They definitely have more one-on-one than other studios and once you get to intro to L1 the classes aren’t overbooked, so you always get a pole for my yourself. I’ve been working with Mila and it’s been amazing. At first you may feel like you’re going to struggle or not do too well because of how hard these moves seems . But honestly with consistency each class I’ve been able to unlock some new moves and techniques. I took an intro to pole class and felt as though I was being ridiculed the whole time. My instructor was extremely critical which may be good in the gym but for a pole class where you’re already feeling vulnerable it just made it harder to feel supported. She did not foster an environment where I felt sexy and strong because she was short tempered and quick to point out our mistakes. I was also annoyed by the fact that the first spin on the pole she decides to teach us 45 minutes into the class was not even particularly beginner friendly. I am all for motivation but at a certain point, the class just started to feel like a humiliation ritual because of this instructor. Even though the price drew me here, I definitely won’t be returning.

(Side note: At the end of class she even went as far as to ask “Who would really like to advance in pole?” and after everyone put their hands up she said “Well you can’t because none of you are ready” and it wasn’t even in a funny manner, it just felt unnecessarily cruel😭.)

Alana is an exceptional teacher!
Her spin pole choreo and pole flow classes are some of the best I’ve taken. Always so smooth and sensual.
Her warm-ups are consistent and thoughtfully designed to prevent injuries, especially in the back.
I appreciate how pedagogic she is. Her clear and detailed cues for technique have helped me improve significantly. She focuses on foundational skills like different grips, and provides plenty of constructive feedback. I always feel like I’m progressing and building confidence in her classes.

Mimi is an incredibly talented dancer, and her passion for pole is inspiring. I particularly enjoy her conditioning class as a way to stay active and strong.

Suggestions for the Studio:
1. Regular maintenance of the poles to ensure they spin smoothly.
2. Provide each student with a rag for cleaning poles for better sanitation.
3. Encourage removing jewelry to prevent pole damage.
4. Establish clear progression paths with defined milestones. Right now, it feels too subjective, and it’s discouraging not knowing how to advance or feeling stuck and plateauing.
5. Improve the class booking system to make scheduling and unlocking classes easier without requiring frequent back-and-forth communication.

I'm an advanced poler from out of state. I took two of my friends here for an open pole class because they had never tried pole and were nervous about taking a class. Upon walking in, the owner immediately asked us if we would be "working independently." I said yes but we all felt uncomfortable.
I wasn't getting paid by my friends as a trainer. Plus, we all paid $30 for the use of the space. My friends felt so uncomfortable that they just left. The owner then proceeded to sit in close range for 20-30 minutes. I felt scrutinized having her there. I have been to numerous open poles at many studios. I have never felt like I could not collaborate or work with others during an open pole. I am also bothered by the fact that the owner wasn't welcoming to the three of us as newbies to her studio.
As for the space itself, it was clean. All the poles except for one were permanently on spin. I did not like this, but to be fair, it was advertised. There was one other girl at the open pole and she was very kind and welcoming. I think she works there.

The warm up was so informative as I often end up with sore shoulders so I really appreciated the time we spent warming up our shoulders and practicing engagement. Sweet N Sultry Studio has truly been a life-changing experience for me! I just completed the 6-week pole series, and I can’t believe how far I’ve come in such a short time. When I started, I didn’t know much about pole, but by the end of the series, I was not only more skilled but also so much more confident in my own body. Mimi, our instructor, is absolutely amazing. Her energy is infectious—she’s vibrant, funny, and always knows how to push you just the right amount while still making every class fun. She guided me through a beautiful blend of technique, strategy, and self-confidence.

I also want to give a big shout-out to my classmates! The support and encouragement we shared made each class feel like a community. It was wonderful to grow and learn together, and I’m so grateful for the friendships I made along the way.

I had the pleasure of participating in the 3 week pole pleasers series and performed in the student showcase. I am usually the person that stays on the background not wanting to be seen. Attending classes at sweet and sultry have boosted my confidence and learning the choreo has made me a better dancer. I performed in the showcase and while I was nervous I was excited to show what I’d been working on for 3 weeks. Sweet and sultry feels like family. I’ve been taking classes since January and the studio is a safe and welcoming environment for anyone wanting to take pole classes. The studio is well maintained and inviting. Update: I am coming up on my 1 year polversary and I can say that this studio is truly my home and happy place. I can see so much growth, not just from myself but my peers. Dedication and support is key and all of the Sweet N Sultry staff are invested in your growth and happiness. There are also so many cool events happening every month, so while you’re learning, you’re also having a great time. You will always be celebrated here!

Words cannot describe the amazing atmosphere and community that is being built in this studio! I came into pole with no experience after wanting to for years. I took the beginner 6 week series with Mimi, and the 3 week heels series with Mila, and my life has honestly changed so much since. All the instructors are so knowledgeable, kind and most importantly, patient! The bond the other classmates and I have shared and finally having a community and hobbie to look forward to is always the highlight of my week.

Come to learn pole stay for the community! I take classes with Mila and they are great. I’ve been able to rectify a lot of mistakes I was making. The studio is super clean and everyone is welcoming and friendly. The abundance of open pole time is clutch if you can’t have a pole at home to practice. Every couple of months there’s a student showcase. I did the last one and it’s a great way to get comfortable performing for audiences, and the studio team makes some amazing food and drinks you get to feast on after. I’ve been doing classes here for over a year and plan to continue.

Really enjoyed my class! I found the studio through ClassPass and took POLE FLOW BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE with Alana. As a longtime dancer of over 20 years (recreation, collegiate and professional), I really appreciate Alana's warm up. I'm often very critical of teachers at that phase of class because the warm up is the foundation. She expertly prepared us with mobility exercises that made me feel strong and confident. Alana breaks down hard pole concepts with ease and explains them in a way that is easy to follow. I will definitely be back!

Fantastic intimate, clean space. I’ve been wanting to try pole dancing for a hot minute and the instructors here (shout out to Mila, Mimi, and Serita) have been so supportive, helpful, and considerate. You can actually feel your confidence boost as you go, even with a simple pole walk. This place is AMAZING.

UPDATE: I completed the 6 Week Beginner Series with Mimi and I just cannot express how grand of a time I had. You get such integral building blocks for choreographing one’s own pole routine. Mimi is an incredibly patient, sweet, knowledgeable, and hilarious instructor — she’s just the best. No other words about it. If you have the opportunity to join one of these series, please do so! You will see such a major difference from when you start to when you complete it. Plus, you make a lot of great friends! What’s better than that?

The studio is extremely clean and decorated nice. It’s super girly and feels like home. I had the opportunity to meet three of the instructors and so far everyone is nice and welcoming. It really feel like a community weather it’s your first time or 5th time. I’ll recommend this studio to anyone who is interested in starting pole or even already in pole. Took 2 intro classes 1 with Mila (5star) and I loved it ! She’s super friendly informative the structure of class was intimate and intentional we all got to record our new moves. Great class for beginners.look for her when booking
I also took class with MIMI (3.5 star) she’s also nice however class felt like an open pole session vs an intro class. She help us feel sexy. Dancing attire limited access to see moves , instructions felt a lot more chill like freestyle dancing with friends which is great if your looking for that. Would love more choreo or tips and pole work.

I’ve only taken 3 classes here so far and talk about family. You walk in excited to learn something new every time and walk out knowing at least 3 new tricks with positive reinforcement no matter what your skill level is like. Thank you so much for the intro class. I’ve been to a few pole dance studios and even though the instructor was good. I just didn’t love the vibe. People Were so serious -I really just wanted to dance and have a good time. I was determined to find the right place for me. So I googled and found sweet and sultry and I am so excited to be here. I started pole dance with the purpose of having a hobby, and the idea was very intimidating. However, the Sweet ‘N Sultry studio made me feel very comfortable. It is not only a studio, but it feels like a community of women supporting women to be their best self while training. Mimi is very sweet, and fun. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! The vibe is warm, supportive, friendly and fun. After taking a long break from pole, I first dipped my toe in with a couple of classes with Bleu and Trinity, which I loved! Then I signed up for the 6 Week Beginner Pole Series with Mimi to make sure my foundation was solid. I wasn't sure if I belonged in a beginner series since I had prior pole experience, but I'm really glad I joined. There was A LOT for me to learn. The pace is a lot faster than my previous pole studio and I enjoyed the challenge. One of my proudest achievements in the 6 weeks was building enough strength to climb the pole without using my legs. I'm also really proud of my first pole showcase performance at Sweet N Sultry. To take what we've learned and have a chance to share it with others is very empowering. I had an amazing time at this studio. It was my 1st class & my instructor was Bleu. She was sooo helpful & I learned sooo much. She paid attention to everyone in the class & she even helped to spot us. This class was very challenging, but I learned so much. And omg the next day, my abs were REALLY feeling it. I love that. This was a real workout. It’s what I need/needed. Even the girlies in the class were so nice. They clapped for one another & the environment just felt right. It felt good being there. I asked Bleu if the studio sold anything to dry my hands up & she informed me that they do & even gave me a squirt or two of her own. That was so sweet of her. I wasn’t expecting that, as I didn’t ask for any of hers, but it just goes to show. Really enjoyed Sweet ‘N Sultry studio. I started my pole journey at sweet n sultry on July 1, 2023, Sweet n sultry has been the best experience so far. Some classes I have taken so far was sexy floor work, beginner intro , and the beginner series. My instructor for my classes was bleu . My first time walking into the studio I was greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome from bleu. I really liked how she practiced cleanliness by making sure we wiped down our yoga mats after our stretch/ warm up. Bleu is so patient knowledgeable and kind! The studio is clean and cozy. This is an amazing place to begin pole dancing classes as a beginner. They are constantly hyping you up and meeting you where you are in you skill level. Everyone is so friendly from the owner to the instructors. The vibes are great and the poles are sturdy. Did a twerk class with Maria and boy did she have a lot of great energy. I recently attended a Dance vybz class and let's just say I was tired in the 1st 10 minutes lol. That class was an hr y'all but with all the heavy panting I was doing, there was a lot of laughter and cheering. Truly enjoyed myself here. Word of caution though - you will have to go up approximately 3 flights of stairs before you get to the studio but nothing like a pre-workout right?!! Can't wait to attend a yoga class.
