Almost two months in and I think it’s honestly a decent gym with a few little caveats here and there.

Pros:
-Big open space
-Lots of machines and free weights
-Fitness classes included in membership
-Good affordable rates
-AC and industrial fans
-Mostly well maintained

Cons:
-Only 1 toilet in the men’s bathroom(2 urinals though)
-You have to make it easy for people to wipe down machines so they actually do it and the automated paper dispensers only gives you a sliver of tissue and is not really efficient
-Supposedly it gets really packed at peak times especially on Mondays

I haven’t had too much issues with front desk as others have mentioned and I’m praying my cancellation experience(if and When) is not the horror story others have mentioned.

Also shoutout to front desk person Louisa! Very sweet lady and made signing up very simple as other reviewers have mentioned.

For reference i usually go 3-4x/week mostly mornings and sometimes after work.

I called to inquire about membership and personal training, but unfortunately, the person who answered was quite condescending and didn’t seem interested in helping or welcoming new members. 2/26/25 Edit: The cancellation process is ridiculous. I sent a letter to cancel per their instructions in December and they’re still trying to bill me despite the fact that I haven’t returned to the gym since then. The price is decent and the crowd isn’t too bad even at peak times (after work or weekends) but if I knew it would’ve been this much of a nightmare to cancel my membership, I’d have just taken my business elsewhere.

Synergy was actually sued for this in 2016 so you’d think they’d change their business practices nearly a decade later but here I am complaining about the very same thing.

Friendly staff! Pretty clean and it’s not ever crowded. The early hours are my favorite time to be there but it’s also great on a Saturday afternoon.

Reasonably priced and decently maintained, however their cancellation process is incredibly tedious. They can and will keep you on the hook for as long as they can to keep squeezing membership fees out of you and will make cancellation as inconvenient as possible in hopes that you will deem the process too difficult and keep paying them despite not using their facilities. Word to the wise, if your gym won't let you cancel in person DO NOT SIGN UP.

This is a great gym, located right in the heart of lynbrook. Great machines and a decent selection of cardio equipment. However a lot of the weight machines need fixing.

Lately there is NO heat in this gym whatsoever! Please turn the heat on or up! It’s not healthy to workout in these temperature.

I've been working out at this gym for over 10 yrs and what I can say is that they charge you a $50 equipment fee diligently every yr but sill have the same old equipment I met there when I first started, the handle grips are all stick and gross, the treadmill displays are broken and ventilation is very poor causing the gym to have a very musky smell, I'm in the process of canceling my membership because of this only to find out I have to send a letter certified mail and there is a 30 day process time, therefore they charge you 1 more month membership fee before they cancel your membership. I won't recommend this place, there are lots more newer gyms in the area that are even cheaper.

Close to my house not expensive. It’s a gym really for working out. Let’s talk in more action has enough machines for cardio. It’s about what you wanna do mentally it’s not a gym there to socialize. Decent gym with friendly staff. I enjoyed working out here for years, until I attempted to cancel my membership and was informed I needed to submit a letter through certified mail through an ardous and archaic "cancellation process".

The manager showed no interest and made minimal effort to resolve this, and it appears this process is intentionally tedious to dissuade members from cancelling.

When I expressed my discontent with the policy and asked if there are any alternatives, or what would happen if I cancelled my card, I was told I'd be sent to collections.

Very unprofessionally handled, and very disappointing, as I enjoyed my time at this location. Good place to work out, but beware that you'll need to jump through hoops if you ever hope to stop paying them $30/month.

I just love this gym! It’s always super clean and the staff is so friendly. The level of care from personal trainers is above and beyond. There’s a vast assortment of equipment available for your individual needs. The owner is amazing and will even stop by to correct your form or give tips and advice to prevent injury. It’s like a little bit of PT for everyone.

I enjoyed working out at this location but do not enjoy the arduous cancelation process. Its super strange that i cannot cancel my membership at the front desk, where i enrolled but have to send a letter to this location, in order to cancel it. Happen to love this gym!!! Been lifting here for over 15 years, was a member before it was synergy!!! Great staff, great new equipment, machines, free weights, tons of cardio equipment and Different studio rooms for a multitude of classes and areas to get whatever workout you desire. Always clean and a great vibe, Never messy or packed with clowns like some gyms. To the person just starting out to Some real solid talented lifters who are knowledgeable and always friendly this place has it. lot of cops firemen and hard working blue collar guys and gals. Place is a hometown gem, a real cornerstone to the valley stream, lynbrook, malverne communities. Gives bevs a run for its money. 100% if you are looking for a great gym, a place to unwind and stay in great shape, This is it.

I have nothing but good things to say about this gym. I started here after the pandemic. After working out for 1 yr here I can finally put my opinion about this gym.firat most this gym is always clean 🙌 which I love. Next it has a community feeling. The process are affordable and the owner listens to suggestions. I had mention to him a hip thrust machine and he got it. He also ordered new machines. if a machine breaks the owner makes it his priority to get it fix immediately. I appericate all of these things alot. Honestly, I would definitely recommend this gym. They also have alot of classes every day and they do accommodate to morning and evenings. They close at a reasonable time. There is parking and street parking.

A great workout, socially distant. This Synergy has all the necessary equipment to work all body parts, they have spin as well as aerobics classes. It's a core gym with no pool or sauna. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They are not 24hours anymore due to Covid but they are open extra hours. The machines are constantly wiped for safety.

They have great covid precautions, and especially great support over email with any issues or concerns. Went to this gym for several years, the one water fountain was broken on a regular basis, there were rusty and/or frayed cable machine attachments, stuff would break and not be fixed for months.
Gym hasn't been open for 6 months, they open 2 weeks ago and I get a charge on my card, I go in to cancel since I moved, they tell me I have to write a letter to their billing department which is the same address as the gym. Come on. Glad I'm done with them.

Called to see if there was a new years deal. I was told it was $25 to sign up which was amazing! I walked in and they had no idea what I was talking about. Well it’s convenient for me as it is close to my house. The Gym is run down, has dirty bathrooms, doesn’t have a lot of equipment, limited selections of weights in the studio. Also the classes offered by the female trainers are not well prepared and do not follow an effective routine. It is only $25 per month so I guess you can’t complain perhaps thats why the customer service isn’t the best either. Some of the ceiling fans do not work...

I am currently a member of this gym but after my rude encounter with the owner I am looking for a different one.
I joined this gym (first time EVER joining a gym) because of its location and hours. I've never been a member to a gym before and don't know how to use most of the equipment (and I certainly was not given any instructions upon signing up) so I don't mind that it doesn't have "frills".
The day I joined the gym the young man who was working behind the counter informed me it was his first day and had never signed anyone up before. I assured him this was not a problem as I had previously gone online to sign up for a 3 day trial that included a discounted sign up fee.
The paperwork seemed new to him and he struggled to explain the different packages (at one point even suggested that this gym may not be the right fit for my needs). We had a conversation about the $25/mo fee and I was verbally given the option to have the fee automatically withdrawn from my account on the 1st or 15th of the month. I chose the 15th as I get paid on the 5th.
After taking quite some time with the paperwork, the owner approached asking why it was taking so long. He hurriedly filled out the rest of the form and ushered me to sign. I was thrown off by his approach but didn't think much of it.
I paid cash that day and for the following 2 months. On the 3rd month and on the 4th month I my card was charged on the first day of the month instead of the 5th as I had discussed with the young man. This caused an overdraft both times ($35 each, $70 total).
I am so harried that I didnt notice until the second charge.
I went into Synergy to explain the confusion and was hoping for some sort of compensation or at least an acknowledgment of this error.
The owner approached while I was explaining to the lady at the desk. He rudely said "let me find your paperwork, you will see this is your fault." (Apparently there is a box option to check off and he insisted that it must have been marked for the 1st because I signed up in the beginning of the month)
I spent the next 20 minutes watching both of them shuffle papers and dig through the filing cabinet with no avail. They never found my paperwork. I gave my name and was assured I would be contacted.
I have never heard anything back from anyone at the gym.
Even if he checked the box to be charged on the 1st, that is not what I discussed with the young man (whom I've never seen again) who signed me up.
I am a single woman who goes to school full time and works full time. I am trying to live healthier lifestyle and better myself. Budgeting for a $25 fee and paying an additional $70 was a huge detriment and caused a real hardshipfor me.
A simple acknowledgment of the mistake and an apology would have served just fine. Any additional reimbursement would have been excellent and really shown customer appreciation but was not expected.
I am beyond disappointed in the way this was handled.
So please future gym member, give your money to a different gym/gym owner.

Just moved to the area so I'm looking for a new gym. This one is a no frills gym that is clean and I thought very well kept. I really like that during the week it's a 24 hr gym and that dumbbells are where they are supposed to be. My NYSC in Whitestone consistently missed the mark on that front. Having said all of that, I feel like there is a good amount of space not being effectively used. Very limited in kettlebells, I didn't see any medicine balls, nor did I see any trap bars. With so much space I'd also expect more dedicated space to be available to deadlift in. Also, and im sure this is very important to some people, my wife went on a Sunday and loved the HIIT class she went to. So for what the price is, pretty good gym. I'd be more than happy to pay another $5 a month to get the other things in there that I mentioned.
