Arrived at 10:35 for my very first class due to a crash on the BQE. The start time for the class was 10:30, and front desk staff wouldn’t let me in despite being physically there at the 5 minute mark. Not exactly a welcoming space for new students.

I’ve been a member of Tangerine since 2017, and I’m so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. It’s been a grounding, inspiring space for me over the years. These days, I have the added joy of bringing my kiddos to Yogie Land on Sundays for kids yoga—it’s the best!

I wish I could gatekeep this all to myself, but Tangerine is just too good to not share! The studio is absolutely the best - starting from the helpful and friendly staff, to the no hassle attitude of providing free mats and towels (the bane of my existence when I get charged nine bucks for a towel and a mat), to the absolutely STELLAR instructors! My favorites are Liz and Derric - I cannot, I mean it - I simply CANNOT say enough glowing words for these two! I’ve been to hundreds of studios and have never found a more welcoming space and community. Liz and Derric - you’re the best! So grateful for Tangerine - truly a blessing to have them right here in Bk 💖🍊

Love tangerine yoga! I’ve been coming regularly for over a year. The teachers are all really kind, helpful and not pretentious which can be the case at some yoga studios. It’s very beginner friendly and there’s a variety of classes to choose. Most of all I loved the prenatal class and community of yoga mamas I’ve met through this. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a local, neighborhood yoga place where you can feel part of a community.

I’m so grateful to have found Tangerine Yoga. I’ve been going for a month and it has restored my energy and confidence. I had a baby 9 months ago and working out has been hard; the hot yoga format here really helps my back and hips loosen, and the themed song or sign classes keep things fresh. The instructors I’ve had have all been great (shoutout to Matty and Liz). The studio also always smells good and offers cool scented towels after class. Midweek noon classes are where it’s at! It’s an exquisite experience. Highly recommend!

I frequently travel to NYC for work and stay in Brooklyn. Tangerine is one of my favorite parts of my routine. The studio is clean and I love that they provide mats and towels, which is extra appreciated as an out-of-towner.

All the instructors i’ve taken class from are strong with unique flows that keep me present in class. However, I must give an extra shoutout to Liz who is an exceptional instructor who puts so much heart into her classes. I love that she always has something to share about the stars and astrological significance behind her flows without being too woo woo about it. And she is the perfect balance of being strong and intentional with her instructing, while adding moments of levity that inevitably make you giggle.

I wish I could transport Tangerine back to my pocket of town— it truly is such a wonderful studio.

Cannot recommend this studio enough! The space, staff, and instructors embody what practicing yoga should be about; Non transactional and genuine community. I had a hand injury half way into my month membership and they kindly assisted with suspending my account so those days wouldn't go to waste. Very grateful for their care and thoughtfulness.
Classes are great and plentiful for any type of yoga you seek!

Been a member for 3 years and it was the best decision I made. I had done yoga on and off for about 7 years but truly changed my life to commit and have the consistency of weekly classes. Such an inclusive and diverse space, welcoming and respectful of all bodies, abilities, genders, race. Love the playlist themed classes and emphasis on going at your own speed, taking what you need from class.

I love this studio! While the yoga is great, the people are even better. From desk attendants to assistants to instructors to owner, it has a real family feel to it. Each instructor has their own unique style of teaching and they complement each other really well. Their personalities come thru in their teaching which makes the class experience all the more personable and enjoyable. And if yoga isn’t your thing, try a strength class! It’s a fast-paced, full-body workout incorporating strength, cardio, and flexibility. As rewarding as it is challenging!

Tangerine is my happy place. Everybody makes you feel so welcome here. The classes are challenging but also grounding. The instructors/ staff are all so beautiful in their own ways with distinct energies. All supportive and kind. Liz on Tuesday’s/Sunday’s is dynamic with killer playlists. Willow’s classes feel calm with elements of barre. Alyssa kicks your ass with strength.

I recommend this studio to everybody I know. I upgraded my class load after a few months. This made me love the practice of yoga.

I’ve been coming to Tangerine Yoga for a while now, and what stands out the most to me is their strong sense of community. It feels so different from other studios when the owner, Laura, remembers your name after just one or two visits — it’s warm, personal, and truly special.

To be honest, my first visit didn’t leave a strong impression. The class was crowded, and the instructor was just okay (no longer work here) — not bad, but not memorable either. So I didn’t return for almost a year.

But everything changed the second time I walked in — it was Laura’s class. She was completely different. Her presence, energy, and teaching style drew me in. I signed up for a membership right after. Her classes carried me through one of the most difficult times of my life. I was being stalked by someone, and I was constantly in pain, stressed, and afraid for my safety and my family’s. But somehow, Laura’s class gave me peace. It helped me breathe again — physically and emotionally.

Another teacher I love is Liz. Her energy is completely different from Laura’s — like yin and yang. One calm, one dynamic. Their classes perfectly match my different needs for yoga, and I deeply appreciate both.

Even though I’ve lived in the U.S. for years, my English hasn’t improved much. But their classes are very friendly to non-native speakers. Laura and Liz, in particular, make everyone feel welcome.

Now I’m preparing to head back to China, but I want to leave this note of gratitude and recommendation: If you’re looking for a yoga space that’s healing, warm, and truly human — Tangerine 🍊 is it. I hope it stays around for a long, long time.

P.S. There’s a yoga teacher here named Cissy who speaks Mandarin. She helped me better understand and follow Liz’s instructions. Truly grateful!

The class was pretty mixed level and Willow made it so fun for everyone, and she was able to roll with us which was so good for the group. Hannah was also there to welcome us and the two of them really helped bring the energy for the weekend!

I've been practicing yoga for a little over a decade and tangerine is without a doubt one of my favorite studios I've ever practiced in.

I would say the teachers at tangerine are - across the board - exceptional in their knowledge, creativity, and approach to teaching. I always walk out of class feeling a few inches taller, and mentally clearer than when I walked in. The studio itself is super well run, the vibe is friendly and low key, and the emphasis really is on coming together to practice in movement, breath, and stillness. Whether you're just getting started or many years into your yoga journey I would recommend tangerine every time. It's a great workout for the body, and honestly a wonderful lift for the soul.

Also worth noting the studio provides mats, towels, blocks, etc etc to students. For me this is a big +, especially on days when I know I'll be running somewhere after class and don't want to carry a mat around with me.

I love this studio so much. Was looking for somewhere to take both difficult and restorative classes to replace my CorePower membership after moving, and tangerine went above and beyond my expectations. The instructors are amazing, the strength classes are super challenging and effective, and the flow and flow + classes are creative, fun, and dynamic. Also… the complementary mats and towels DO make a huge difference. They literally light palo santo and give you cold eucalyptus towels at the end of class. It’s a perfect experience.

This community is so welcoming, kind, beginner friendly, and open. There are so many classes which helps since I have somewhat of a weird work schedule, many different instructors so you can always ensure you find someone that matches your preferred yoga style, and overall just a very kind tight knit community here that is really open to newcomers. I often get intimidated by perceived very small intimate spaces because I get so worried that everyone already knows each other so well, but I was welcomed so kindly into this community.

I also appreciate the focuses on form here as a beginner and the hands-on corrections they do (with consent!!!). Really great. Also small perks like providing their own mats and towel are such a game changer. If you’re on the fence, take a class!!!

and they make practicing in nyc so seamless and easy - u can just show up as u are and have everything you need (classes every hour and a half, and free mats and towels = no more schlepping!! why isn’t this a thing everywhere??)

i feel lucky to have found this magical place while at a personal low after having two kids back to back during a global pandemic - im so grateful to tangerine for helping me chart a new way forward in both my physical and mental health and build the patience and perspective needed to be the rock for my family.

I usually go to the community class on Saturday with Djinn so I can go with my friend, and we LOVE it. The place doesn’t have showers as it’s quite small, but I think spiritual people would understand that this studio’s vibe? Djinn? The type of people that come here? Worth it.

The katonah flow is meditative, and makes you feel good inside and out, and the tangerine flow is challenging and fun if you’re looking for more of a yogi workout. With either class, you’re guaranteed a teacher who cares about their students’ wellbeing, infuses joy and surprise into every session, and brings with them a deep understanding of the teachings and history of yoga. Glad to have this spot in the neighborhood.

I am new to the area and attending classes at Tangerine Yoga has consistently been the highlight of my day. It is a wonderful studio with a variety of classes and teachers. I'd highly recommend.

It’s a really great place! I’m a beginner as I’ve just started doing hot yoga and Tangerine has made me feel welcome. I visited another place prior to try out and I felt very out of place. It wasn’t a place I felt comfortable in or allowed me to find that comfort space as a beginner. At Tangerine, Liz, one of the instructors quickly made me feel at ease on my first day and it brought me back for a 2nd session. Once you walk in, Laura and the ladies greet you kindly, like they’ve known you since forever. I enjoy going to Tangerine and can’t imagine going somewhere else.

I haven’t practiced yoga in a few years and after a friend recommended Tangerine I decided to check them out and happy I did! Great studio, great vibes, great people, great teachers and Laura (the owner) is the best! Thankful for this space, one that feels clean, welcoming to all and the cold towels provided after class!

I'm really resistant to heated yoga but I come here on the regular because there's just something really magical about this place and its energy. Fortunately, the temp is not bikram level hot but I would say quite warm.

All the teachers here seem to me to have deep expertise but also often make class playful and accommodating to students depending on their needs. One side perk is that I tend to find so many good songs from attending class here. I'm frequently asking the instructors for their song playlist.

I find it really helpful that they provide mats and towels. Especially the chilled eucalyptus towels at the end of class, there's nothing better after sweating it out.

Best yoga class I’ve ever taken. They’re socially conscious, non-judgmental, and did poses that I’ve never ever done before. Awesome awesome awesome experience!

This was my second yoga class ever and a memorable one, too! The owner I lovely and very welcoming. I took the heated flow class with Matty. Gave great directions [for even a newbie!] and said, up front, do what's right for your body in each move. I did just that and left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated! The gentleman at the front desk was kind and smiley. Great way to welcome and say good bye to clients. Thanks Tangerine!

I was visiting from out of town and really enjoyed taking a couple classes here. The temperature was perfect and the hour long flow class was just right for me. Liam (substitute teacher) did a great job and the front desk was friendly and helpful, allowing me to feel comfortable despite being a visiting stranger.

Minus 1 start because their bathroom/locker facility is really limited and theres not great space to change if the class is busy/no shower option

This hot yoga studio is so lovely. I've tried a number of different teachers and have enjoyed all of them. I especially like Ariel and Abigail's style. The owner, Laura, is also very kind and they respond to all inquiries promptly. Thanks for all you do.

I had found multiple credit card charges from this studio after I took one class there in 12/2019, it was multiple small microcharges every two weeks for $2-3 amounts. I emailed the owner of the studio and she responded to my email in about 24 hours and discovered that somehow someone else had been charging using my credit card on my file. She has issued me a full refund and resolved the error. This customer service was much appreciated! The classes are great and the studio is nice and hot. I like the hot eucalyptus towels at the end.

Best hot yoga studio I've experience in NYC. Incredibly friendly staff and feels very community-oriented. The classes vary so much that you'll never feel stuck in the rut of the same flows (an issue I've had at previous studios). Each teacher has a different way of instructing and flowing through the class -- I've had a handful of classes in which we are doing poses I've never seen or heard of. Instructors are willing to adjust and help out and all are very knowledgable. Definitely would recommend if you're looking to sweat & shake up your practice.

Beautiful studio and talented group of teachers. I haven't taken a class yet I didn't like, and I've never left Tangerine thinking the class wasn't an incredible work out !

Great studio with great instructors. Unfortunately, the wait list policy earns them 1 star. I arrived today 3 minutes before class began only to be informed that my spot had been given away to someone else as the wait list opens 5 minutes prior to class starting. I wouldn't have minded so much, but the same thing happened to 3 other people who had arrived right before me. I've gone to 10+ classes at the studio and never had something like this happen before. When I asked if I would be issued a refund, I was informed that since I booked through class pass I would need to figure it out on my own.

Perhaps you should rethink this policy as it seems to be a sort of double booking. Not a good feeling after walking over in 10 degree weather.

Updating rating to 3 stars because of email sent out shortly following this review clarifying policy.

Their wait-list policy of giving away your spot before 5 minutes of starting class gives them a 1 star from me. I arrived 4 minutes before class started and came to find out that my spot was given away. This happened to other people that arrived before me. This policy seems more like a double booking. I got triggered and made me think I was dealing with an shady airline company.

I really like this place but I had to cancel my monthly subscription because it’s too crowded over the last months. Sometimes you have people 1inch from your face when you’re practicing. They should have a limit of people per class.

It is not only yoga but strictly HOT YOGA. Tangerine is a small studio with various yogis. They dont have any mirrors and concentrate more on verbal instructions. However, the yogis will scan the room to adjust individuals forms as see needed. I prefer coming at least 15 minutes earlier to set up my spot. The studio offers mat, towel, and blocks. They have lockers but no shower. Consider bring a change of cloth, you will need them.

If you’re looking for a strong power or flow class, this studio is not for you.

With a few exceptions, classes were more akin to a heated yin yoga class. Do not recommend.

You. Will. Sweat.
Each instructor has their own method and style. You will get a different experience with each one. Changing in the locker room is a practice of yoga all its own but everyone is friendly and respectful about the tight space.
Lockers, mats and towels provided. The cold aromatherapy towel that you get afterwards is EVERYTHING.

Arguably one of the best hot yoga experiences I've had

The studio is immaculate, welcoming, calm, and professional. You are provided with a towel, mat, and a eucalyptus/lavender cold towel after the practice.

The actual practice was challenging, yet supportive. The class leader and an assistant walked around the entire 60-minute class, providing me alone with four separate assists.
