I’ve had the privilege of getting to know Alexis Tearney and her team, and their commitment to excellence is unmatched. Tearney’s Martial Arts is doing an incredible job building a positive and welcoming community through martial arts. The instructors are knowledgeable, passionate, and truly care about their students’ growth on and off the mats. The environment is beginner-friendly, professional, and focused on helping students reach their full potential. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch martial arts training in the area!

I truly wish I could give more than 5 stars. I signed both of my kids up for classes (6 and 13 years old)this year. I really wasn't sure what to expect, and all I can say now is WOW!!!!! Every singe person working here is absolutely wonderful. Not only do they teach the sport itself, but they work on so many things the kids will use outside the Dojo in daily life. My kids are thriving because of Tearney's, and I can't say thank you enough. They put a focus on kindness, respect to others, hard work/dedication, self defense, self confidence....the list could go on forever!!!!! My kids are so proud of the work they put in, in class every week, and so proud to tell their peers they are a part of the Tearney's family. Thank you so much Tearney's, you guys are the BEST of the BEST!!!!!!!!!

Both of my children are students. My daughter has been attending since 2024 and my son started earlier in 2025. The instructors are always so patient with the children and they are incredibly effective teachers. They make classes fun and informative and I love the way they weave in culture from Japan into their lessons.

My daughters and I both take karate classes and we all love it.
The classes promote strength in your own self and raise self confidence in your abilities. Both my children have ADD and these classes are a place they can focus, have fun, and be loud! Ten out of ten recommend.

My kids started taking karate with Tearney’s over the last several years. It has helped them to develop focus and commitment to the practice. After a few years sitting on the sideline, I took the leap of starting lessons myself. I found that the adult students have been incredibly supportive and kind and I am so grateful. Many went out of their way to introduce themselves to me and everyone has cheered me on as I have developed. It was so welcoming! It’s always hard to step out of your comfort zone, but I could not have had a better group of people to surround myself in doing it.

Started out bringing my 12 year old granddaughter there and two years later, at 60 years old, I joined. It is the best thing we have ever done! She has gained self-confidence and I am in better shape physically than I have been in decades. The teachers at Tearney’s Martial Arts are the best! My son and I absolutely love this place. He has learned a lot. However, the place is very small. It’s a nightmare when one class is over and another enters. It’s very cramp. They are growing and I would suggest in moving into a bigger facility. However, it’s a great place for learn.

Kyoshi Alexis and her exceptional team of instructors are professional, knowledgeable, and encouraging to every student at every level. Aside from learning traditional martial arts, students learn focus, self-control, balance, strength, self-discipline, respect, self-defense and self-motivation in a family friendly environment. Out of all of the activities our kids are involved with, this is by far the best!

Absolutely wonderful experience and a great team of instructors. It's a friendly and welcoming environment. My son has sensory issues and had difficulty staying still and focusing. Yudansha Mel and Kyoshi Alexis were so patient with him. He can now get through an entire class while staying on the mat. I see improvement with every class and it's all thanks to them. Highly recommend!

My husband and I started at Tearney’s on January 22nd and I have to say it’s the best decision we ever made. In the 2 months we have been there, we have gotten stronger mentally and physically! All of the instructors are wonderful, encouraging, and motivating. They create a community of wonderful people and our classmates encourage us too. We are so glad to be at Tearney’s!

Tearney's is an amazing dojo. The instructors are like family to us. Our family has been involved with Tearney's for several years now. I have trained at 6 schools over the last 20-30 years. Some are too hostile and military. Some are too soft and not demanding enough and just want to collect your fees. This school has a good balance. They are great with kids and good with us older folks too. If you go and watch classes or start attending them, you get the feeling that all of the instructors are not only good at teaching karate, they are good people too. Have been very happy at Tearney's!
