Janine is incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. Every session is customized based on how my body is feeling that day. Living with a herniated disc in my back, and other aches and pains from a lifetime of horseback riding and skiing, some sessions require more remedial work and others are pure workout. Janine keeps me strong, flexible, and balanced. It's not an overstatement to say that I would not be leading the active, outdoor, sporty life I lead if it weren't for her. Thank you, Janine!

Ive been working out with Janine for close to a decade and she's changed my life. I came to her overweight, and without any core strength, and she transformed my body. She gave me self awareness, and an understanding of how strength and flexibility are supposed to feel. Janine has 100% transformed my life in a seminal way. Janine is an incredible teacher. She has a wealth of knowledge about the human body, remarkable attention to detail, and the interpersonal intelligence to tap into the individual needs and strengths of all of her clients. I have been seeing her twice a week for roughly a year and a half, and I have never been stronger or more attuned with my own body.
I have been to other pilates studios, but nobody has been able to teach me how to access the muscle groups that are meant to be targeted in the way Janine does. I can't say enough good things. I would highly recommend the Fifth Line.

Janine is a gifted teacher! Janine pays very close attention to her students, guiding us to our full potential in movement and always challenging us to be mindful of all the different components of Gyrotonics. I have been taking Gyrotonics from her for a few years now and I make sure to schedule my life around my weekly Gyro class with her as it is that good! I have learned so much about how my body works and how to maximize movement in the rest of my life to prevent injury and increase my strength and flexibility. As an amateur dancer with ligament laxity, and just a human who exists in gravity this has been invaluable.

I was referred to Janine by a family member, after I suffered a lumbar spine injury. I was told by several physicians that it would need to be operated on, but through Working with Janine, I was able to avoid surgery altogether! I’ve made a complete recovery, I’m stronger now then I’ve ever been, and she’s given me tools I can use to maintain my fairly physical, and active lifestyle. She’s like a mechanic for your body! Pilates with Janine at The Fifth Line in Brooklyn is hands down the best exercise experience that I’ve had. She provides a hard workout that is so enjoyable that you don’t always realize how hard you’re working. Janine’s expertise is above any other trainer that I’ve encountered. Her in-depth knowledge of the human body and her explanations and demonstrations of muscle movement have enabled me to make adjustments and get amazing results. My body has completely changed since I started working with Janine. I started out very weak…now I’m toned and stronger than I’ve ever been. At the beginning of each session, Janine asks ‘How’s your body today?’. If you have tension or pain anywhere, she makes immediate adjustments to the plan for the day…working to improve what is bothering you or to avoid that area of concern. Working with Janine ensures that you’re working with a trainer who not only has the highest level of expertise, but really cares about each client. It’s a level of attention and care that I’ve never experienced anywhere else. I would highly recommend Janine and The Fifth Line.

I started taking gyrotonics and pilates with Janine in 2011 and I haven't stopped. Janine's the best! She know the body inside and out and has helped me recover from several injuries, as well as occasional aches and pains. I feel completely safe with her and come out of class feeling better than when I came in. I could never maintain my active lifestyle without this training and her help.

I have been studying with Janine for over 5 years. She is quite a remarkable teacher. She listens, she's responsive and extremely flexible in her approach. She comes to her work with enormous knowledge of biodynamics of all kinds. She has taken semesters of advanced anatomy at Juilliard. She has studied Pilates and Yoga and Gyrotonics and Chigong for years and years. She is like no other personal trainer I have ever met, and I am an older person, so I have met many! Three members of my family go to her to learn more and more and more about how our bodies work best. It is worth every penny!

I took classes for over a year with Janine. She's very sweet and tried to work around my pre-existing injuries but is also inattentive to the point of negligence. Not only did she not pay any attention to my alignment or correct the way that I was using my abs (sucking in and not engaging my upper abs or pulling together my rib cage), I got seriously hurt twice under her watch. Once was in a class with one other person and the other was in a solo session. It's now been more than a year since I stopped working with her and one of those injuries is still majorly affecting my day-to-day life. I have since gone to other Pilates instructors, who were shocked at how weak I was after her instruction. They were able to get me into much better shape, even while accommodating my physical limitations.

I love, love, love this studio!
The Pilates and GYROTONIC instruction at The Fifth Line is the best I've ever experienced. Janine and her staff of elite instructors offer both private and group classes, and both are affordable ways to get in shape. The studio itself has a lovely feel to it.
The classes are small and you get plenty of individual attention. The teachers are really incredible.
I can't wait to try TRX classes.
I rarely gush about my experience with fitness instruction, but The Fifth Line is special.
