On a whim, I called The Five with the hope of finding a program for my tween son to learn the basics of strength and conditioning. Though a program did not exist, Clay took the time to listen and then, made it happen. It was four weeks of 101 instruction, building confidence, and creating connection. I'm so very grateful to him and his team at The Five. My son is looking forward to the next session and that is everything. One of these days, I too, will make the jump!

Update- 1 year later… Have never felt stronger in my life. Am lifting weights I didn’t think possible. Clay may be the best coach I’ve ever worked with- his attention to detail, knowledge, attitude are all above par. The community is amazing. I truly enjoy being here. The atmosphere The Five has built is incredible. It is not every gym you can walk in Day 1, feel comfortable with the people, the coach, the work you're putting in, the concern and knowledge behind keeping your body strong/safe/balanced, and walk out knowing you got better in some form or fashion. All in 60 minutes!! Joining this gym is a steal, Rochester is truly a lucky place. There is no dollar amount you can put to the value this place adds to your life. That's a fact. Any current member can vouch for that, guaranteed. First time working out, beginner stage, intermediate stage, looking to get stronger, looking to lose weight, looking to become fitter, happier, better? Come check it out. Do yourself a favor. I'm so glad I stumbled across the Five Gym! As someone with next to no weight lifting background, it felt intimidating to step into a new gym. Clay (the owner) and the rest of the members made me feel welcome immediately; In my month going I've never felt judged. The workouts are great, and Clay is mindful and diligent about teaching proper and safe form. It's really a wonderful community of humans, and I'd recommend the Five for anyone looking for a change (or start) to their fitness routine. All the stars.

More than a gym,
As a local high school student this gym has had a resounding impact on multiple aspects of my life. I was completely unaware that I wasn’t just joining a gym when I signed up over a year ago. I had joined a tight knit community full of positive and supportive personalities.
Instruction- Each daily workout is arranged by the head instructor/owner (Clay P.). His commitment to the gym and it’s members is nothing short of inspirational. No questions are left unanswered.
Personal Experience- I am proud to say that I am still a member of this fine establishment. I have grown stronger and more conditioned than I ever would have, had I not found this passionate environment. I leave this review with no regrets of making the decision to stick with this gym.

I've been a member of The Five since May 2022 and I can confidently say that this gym has improved my life in so many ways.
After graduating college and therefore no longer being a collegiate athlete, I struggled physically and emotionally to find a physical activity that I could find passion in the way that I did while running track. Six years later I found this gym and I feel that same drive, competitiveness, and discipline I once had. The Five has made me feel like an athlete again.
Every day is a new workout that challenges and engages us. There is a ton of variety so you can expect to never get bored and to develop a very well-rounded level of fitness.
Additionally, the gym is full of some great people who I look forward to seeing every day. Everyone is supportive, humble, and genuinely happy for you when you hit that big PR. I love it here and plan on being a member for many more years!

I have known the gym owner Clay for sometime and not only is he knowledge as a coach but he also spends the time to understand your goals. I can’t express my gratitude for this place enough! Everything is clean and organized, the people are all supportive of every skill level. I myself have been working on “getting back to my old self” after a long break. I reached out to them and they took on the challenge no questions asked! A lot of misinformation happening here and one unhappy member who got booted from the gym getting their mob of friends to leave fake negative reviews.
Fact is I've trained with Clay and have known him for years and these reviews are antithetical to the way he acts and runs his business and community. If you're looking for somebody to feed into your echo chamber and tell you how awesome you are, it probably isn't the right gym for you. If you're looking for cliques, egos and attitudes, it's not the right place for you, either. However, if you're looking to make a serious commitment to your health and fitness, and looking for a coach who operates a SAFE gym, offers motivational support, demands accountability for your own actions and encourages you to become your best version of yourself not just in the gym but holistically, check out the FIVE, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of joining this gym, and it turned out to be a complete nightmare. From the moment I walked in, I could sense an atmosphere of unprofessionalism and disregard for customer safety. I am compelled to share my dreadful encounter to warn others about the hazards and appalling treatment they might face
The staff members were consistently rude and unhelpful. Any attempt to seek assistance or clarification was met with dismissive attitudes and condescending remarks. It is unacceptable to treat paying customers with such disdain. The lack of basic courtesy and respect is a clear reflection of the unprofessionalism that plagues this establishment.
However, the pinnacle of my terrible experience was being unjustly kicked out of the gym without any reasonable explanation. I was diligently going about my workout routine when a staff member approached me with an unwarranted aggression. Despite my confusion and attempts to understand the reason behind their actions, they insisted that I leave immediately. I felt humiliated and completely disrespected, as there was no legitimate justification for their behavior.
It's disheartening to think that a place that is meant to promote health and well-being can foster such an unpleasant environment. It's evident that the management has failed in their duty to maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for their members. I strongly advise anyone considering joining this gym to think twice and explore other options. There are numerous other facilities that prioritize customer safety, professionalism, and respect.
My experience at this gym was nothing short of a disaster. The lack of safety precautions, the rude and unhelpful staff, and the unjustified expulsion all contribute to my one-star rating. Save yourself the trouble and find a gym that values its customers and takes their safety seriously.

The Five is truly the best fitness program and community I’ve ever experienced. Going from not knowing what to really do in a gym to learning how to lift was so intimidating, but Clay and the other members always made me feel so welcomed, encouraged, and inspired that I kept coming back. I leave every class feeling great, even on the days that I don’t feel like working out. The Five is *so* much more than just a gym and Rochester is so lucky to have this community!

The Five is the best place to go if you want to get more flexible, learn better lifting form and get stronger. Clay carefully crafts each hour long workout to target a specific muscle group and is always there to answer questions you may have and provides modified options for someone who may be just starting out.
Weight centric workouts were always something I stayed away from as I did not have the knowledge and experience to do them on my own. There was no judgment on not knowing a certain workout or doing a workout with poor form. All I received was positive re-enforcement and constructive teaching on how to correct my form. The Five provides specific workouts for you to follow and do alongside a great community of other hard-working and friendly people.
Anyone from all experience levels will get a great workout and benefit their mental and physical well-being from joining The Five!
