I was only able to do the trial but I loved it. It was hard but the instructors were excellent. I will definitely get the package soon!

The Fort has been a game changer for me. Not only have I stuck with it longer than any other program I have tried (almost a year!), but I actually enjoy going and I feel accomplished each and every time. The small group of 4 allows the coaches to focus on progression, but also correct form. The coaches are kind and encouraging, while also pushing you to give every movement and repetition your all.

I have been a member of The Fort since it opened on the Upper East Side and it has maintained its appeal for the 2.5+ years since. The coaches, the structure, and the facilities are all excellent and the community they have developed around the gym has been an added bonus.
All of the coaches approach each session with enthusiasm, professionalism and a tailored approach to each member's goals. Not only are they attentive, but they know exactly how and when to push me just enough to accomplish my goals, but not so much as to failure that I feel discouraged or disappointed. Participating in small group sessions means that every rep is being monitored and adjusted, helping me to perfect my form and maximize results.
As someone who used to dread workouts, I now find myself looking forward to my time at the gym and feeling anxious if I miss a day. I'm so grateful to have the gym and its community in my life and extremely appreciative particularly of the UES coaching team!

The Fort is hands down the best gym I have ever been to. Classes of 4 or fewer people, trainers who are professional and nice and truly care about the clients, and equipment that is clean and safe. I was a beginner when it came to lifting weights and feel more confident because of The Fort UES. It has such a strong community and I truly look forward to going to The Fort, something I’ve never said about any type of workout before!!

Joining The Fort was hands down one of the best decisions I've ever made. Before joining, I had no experience with weightlifting and was a bit hesitant, so I decided to sign up for the trial sessions see if I liked it. Now, 20 months later, I've completed over 260 training sessions, and I can't imagine my routine without it.

What sets The Fort apart are the incredible coaches. They greet everyone by name, and without fail, as soon as I step off the elevator, they’re there to offer encouragement. This gesture washes away the stresses of my workday and mentally prepares me for the workout ahead.

The coaches know what I’m capable of—often better than I do. Every time I step onto the rack, I have doubts, but they provide clear guidance and structured warm-ups to build my confidence and ensure that I complete every session safely and successfully. Their ability to meet me where I am, while constantly pushing me to improve (and let’s not forget the passionate yelling during conditioning sessions), has been invaluable.

If you’re serious about improving your quality of life—whether it's getting stronger, increasing energy, or just committing to something bigger than yourself—I cannot recommend The Fort enough.

The Fort is so much more than a gym. It’s a community!

I have been working out at the Fort for more than 3 years and am so glad I walked through those doors in 2021. The programming is precise and the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and patient. Do not be intimidated if you’ve never lifted weights like this before…they will meet you where you are, help you build your strength, and get you in the best shape of your life. The Fort truly is my happy place!

I've been coming to The Fort since 2018 and have trained at all the locations many times, but have spent almost the last two years now doing the majority of my training at the Upper East Side location and there's so much to love.

The programming is always thoughtful and top notch, the equipment is excellent, and the coaches are all very qualified. You'll see the same ones each time and because of the small group training format, you'll likely train with many of the same members consistently too. You're able to thrive with fellow training partners with assurances a coach is there to help you get the best out of your abilities.

The workouts aren't easy, but they're not supposed to be. And that's the way I personally like them.

The best gym ever. I’ve been working out at The Fort for 2.5 years, and I’ve loved every session. It is a great workout and I can see and feel the gains I’ve made. The coaches are awesome and have pushed me to be my best. I feel at home every time I set foot in the gym!

I can’t say enough great things about this gym! The coaches are absolutely amazing—super knowledgeable and attentive to everyone’s specific needs. The mix of strength training, aerobic workouts, and Hyrox training is top-notch, keeping every session dynamic and challenging. But more than anything, the vibe here is unbeatable. It’s genuinely fun to train, and I can’t imagine going without it anymore. Highly recommend!

One click of an Instagram ad, trial class and never looked backed. The programming is strategic to build your strength and endurance (s/o to test week). It’s also very much a community. The coaches are knowledgeable and will push you to your limits. Highly recommend!

I joined the fort about 3 years ago, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s not inexpensive, but it is well worth it and for close to personal training, it’s a steal. I joined after being tired after wasting money at Equinox and never feeling super motivated to go.

The coaches are all so personable, know everyone’s name, and treat you like family. They’re highly attuned to each person’s individual level, and push you to be accountable at a pace that fits your goals.

I’ve never felt better, and I always look forward to each session at the Fort to start my day a few times per week. The community and friendly competitions they’ve built has been amazing (at all locations).

If you're looking for a new gym, The Fort is the place to be. With class sizes capped at 4 people, you receive personal training and coaching that accommodates your individual fitness level and needs. The coaches are not only knowledgeable but also incredibly motivating, pushing you to reach your goals while creating a supportive atmosphere. Every program feels new and energizing, making it easy to stay committed and engaged. Overall, The Fort combines personalized coaching, a community vibe, and dynamic workouts and is the ideal gym for me. Highly recommend!

I’ve been going to The Fort for over 2 years now, and it’s hands down the best workout experience I’ve had. The coaches are amazing, and the programs are tailored to help you consistently improve your strength and skills at your own pace. It’s like having personal training, but with the added benefit of being in a small team (max of 4 people), which makes it more affordable.

I’ve had personal trainers at both home gyms and and outside chain gyms, but nothing compares to this. It’s the perfect combination of effective training and fun. Plus, the extra fun days outside the gym (iykyk) are a unique perk that you won’t find anywhere else!

I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to level up their fitness journey.

I've been going to The Fort for 2 years now and absolutely love it. I had never lifted weights in any real way before, and was intimidated to start, but The Fort made it the most welcoming and comfortable environment to learn. I've never looked back!

The coaches are supportive, motivating, and take the time to tailor each part of the workout to your personal needs and goals. It's equivalent to personal training, but more fun with a community.

Currently through my pregnancy, The Fort has kept me feeling good and strong. I look forward to every session and it's always my favorite hour of the day :)

I can't say enough good things about The Fort. Their small group training model (no more than four people per session) is the perfect balance between personal training and group fitness, offering both personalized attention and community.

The coaches are outstanding, and push me to new levels while prioritizing compromising safety and form. I have a few old injuries, and coaches are quick to offer modifications to accommodate me. The workouts are progressive, so I can see improvement, but vary enough that I don't get bored.

The workouts are tough, but The Fort never feels intimidating thanks to the supportive coaches and community. I always leave feeling stronger, more confident, and in a better mood than I did when I walked in.

The best of the best. The Fort (mostly the coaches) changed the way I workout. I’ve never been stronger and I’ve never felt better. The coaches demonstrate the highest level of care and concern for your every move and ensure that you have the skills and understanding to challenge yourself in ways you never thought possible. The space is immaculate, the equipment is top of the line, the coaches are amazing, and the community is the best part.

The beauty of training with The Fort is that the programming is consistent across all its locations. UES was the first location I trained at, and the coaches are top notch. 2 coaches per 4 clients means every detail is being noticed and they're invested in your progress. Angelo, Will, Aaron, and Becca will consistently push your growth, and it's so rewarding when you see your numbers on the wall every session. Not only are they serious about your training, they also cultivate a sense of community and belonging that you can't get elsewhere. Having the most fun while pushed to your limits? Who would've thought! But it does and it's the best hour of my day, every session, without fail!

I joined the fort in December of 2023, after it was recommended by two of my colleagues at work. I was intrigued because both of them had substantial muscle gains over the year, so when I asked what their secret was - they simply said, "The Fort!"

I took my first two week trial classes, and needless to say I was hooked. I train 3x a week at the UES location, and it's literally my favorite part of the week. The trainers on the UES (shout out to Gelo, Will, Rebecca, and Aaaron) are the most positive, fun, hard working, and truly caring individuals I have had the chance to work out with. I had a previous background in Muay Thai, so this type of fitness fuels my competitive nature, while also giving me an incredible feeling of accomplishment, plus results. The sessions are well tailored to people of all levels of fitness, and the trainers not only care about your results, they track them and help you reach your highest potential. I couldn't recommend a gym more, and am and continue to be a happy customer. 10/10 recommend!

I have been visiting TheFortNYC for around 8 months now, and I truly enjoy working out here. You train in small groups of 4 people, and the workouts will always push your boundaries. If that’s not enough, the people are amazing. At the end of the day it’s the people that make a motivated community and that is what you get. Exceptional people (trainers and all other members) who are excited to push their limits and make fitness feel a hobby than a chore. If you are trying to get consistent and make some awesome new friends, this is the place! Try the trials and you might never go back.

I received three reminder emails and a text message confirming my scheduled conversation at 5:30 PM. However, when the time came, no one called. If the appointment wasn’t going to be honored, what was the point of all the reminders? Extremely unprofessional and a waste of time.

Believe the reviews; The Fort is the real deal. The coaches will push you - often way harder than you think you can (or should) go. And because of this, I've lifted more than I ever thought possible. Having callouses from a barbell was not on my 2024 bingo card, but here we are.

I still have a hate/hate relationship with the ski erg, but the progress is undeniable. I couldn't recommend The Fort more. Absolutely worth the money. Having classes capped at 4 makes all of the difference. Huge shout out to the incredible coaches and kindest folks to lift/grunt alongside.

Fantastic place for strength training work outs! The coaches are amazing and they help push you to achieve your fitness goals without overdoing it and while taking into account any preexisting injuries, limitations etc. This isn’t at all like orangetheory or crossfit — The Fort specializes in well-paced, meticulously planned workouts with expert coaching. They also track all of your progress so they know what weights, reps, and times you should target in each workout to make steady improvements. When you get to heavier weights, trainers will individually spot you and coach you through the set to ensure you have the correct form and that you’re not overdoing it.

It’s a very nice private facility and each class is at most 4 people and 1 coach, so you have your very own weight rack, bench, and machines throughout your workout. And there are never more than 2 concurrent classes, so it basically feels like (nearly) private personal training at 1/4 to 1/3 of the price.

I’ll definitely keep working out here for years to come.

This is beyond “working out.” It’s affordable personal training - classes of 4 with trainers who know you and keep track of your progress. My growth started physically and then the coaches challenged me mentally to redefine my best. Because of The Fort, I’ve realized I’m stronger than I think inside, and outside of the gym. Great vibes too!
