5 stars are not even enough. I just had with Michele the best pilates session in a while. My body feels taller, nicer and just better.
I love smaller classes where control, concentration and precision are priority.

Thank you so much.

Michele and Kristin at TPL are extraordinary teachers with tremendous expertise and warmth and humor which they share with students in a pristine, beautifully equipped studio. I have all kinds of old injuries and back problems and they work with me thru it all. I love TPL!

I came upon The Pilates Local after having my second child. I wish I had known about it earlier! Being a pilates enthusiast, I have been to many different studios throughout the city and nothing compares to The Local Pilates. It is such a warm, inviting and friendly envirmonemnt. Both Michele and Kristin, the owners, are seasoned pros! They are thoughtful to individual needs, gentle to their approach while still kicking your butt! They helped rehabilitate me after I broke my leg in June. I am forever grateful for their patience and expertise!

Great studio and instructors that genuinely care about the practice and ensuring you get form right. Working with my instructor, Heather, has been incredibly helpful in my postpartum recovery journey.

Whether you're a beginner, a novice, or an expert, Pilates Local is the place for you. I've come in as the former, someone who has never done Pilates before but was tangentially aware of the power it holds to forge and maintain a deeper relationship with the body – something I desperately needed as someone with a consistently bad back, tight hips, and little understanding of my own individual balance. I was fortunate to be connected with co-founder Michele Rinaldi, who has become an incredible coach in my personal sessions. The way she runs her sessions are steeped in patient lesson, creative metaphor, and endless kindness. In a few short weeks, I'm taking the lessons from our sessions and applying them in my real life. Overall, she's helped me feel more comfortable in my body than I have in years, and I couldn't recommend Pilates Local stronger to all levels willing to leave with the experiences I've shared above.

My favorite Pilates studio!! I can't recommend The Pilates Local enough. Such a cozy, clean and bright environment with the most excellent teachers and equipment. Wonderful location, right by Union Square, so subway transportation is easy.
Since I am a Pilates teacher myself, I am extremely picky when choosing teachers and classes. This is a classical Pilates studio, which I prefer. The instructors here are top notch, and not only give you an amazing workout, but have such attention to detail that you leave knowing more about your body with every lesson. Group classes are small and intimate, so everyone gets corrections and attention.
I recently moved to the West Coast and I miss The Pilates Local terribly!!

I cannot give this studio enough stars. When people ask me about Pilates in the city and express interest in trying, I always happily refer them to The Pilates Local where I know they will certainly be in good hands.

But just as importantly, as a fellow instructor, The Pilates Local is a must for anyone looking to take their own practice to the next level. Without fail, Kristin and Michelle ALWAYS have some juicy bit of Pilates history or amazing variation that I want to retain and share with my own clients. I have never left this studio without feeling more love for the method, or excitement for teaching.

Hands down one the best Pilates studios in NYC. If I could give 10 stars I would. A good size and impeccably clean (random I know but you’d be surprised how many studios don’t keep tidy which is a huge pet peeve of mine 🤷🏼‍♀️)
Classes are kept on the smaller size (4 people for equipment class max) so you always get the hands on individual training needed to expand your practice. Private sessions are individualized, personal and can take care of anything you got.
I have never taken from a teacher there I didn’t absolutely love but special shout outs of course to owners Kristin and Michelle not only for being the best teachers in the city but for running such a wonderful shop. Talent runs deep here people!!

I’ve been training with Kristin for more than two years now and she’s been my favorite teacher/pilates mentor. I was so happy when I found out Kristin and Michele are opening their own studio. The studio is beautiful and clean, has most of the pilates apparatus and, most importantly, you will meet amazing experienced, knowledged teachers. Can’t wait to take another class there!

Whether you are new to Pilates, a teacher, or enthusiast - TPL is a fantastic studio that will enrich your understanding of the practice and change your body for the better. I've attended mat Pilates classes at The Pilates Local for a year. The teachers are very friendly and teach to all levels, so it's a good studio to get started if you've never done Pilates before. I like that the classes are small so you get personal attention and feedback. As a result, I've dropped a pant size and can touch my toes for the first time in a decade.

I am fairly new to Pilates and have tried several studios. Pilates Locale is the one studio that I've found where the instructors really care about the right form and "not losing the work". They teach classical Pilates. No loud music, no club scene atmosphere. Just detailed instructions, a watchful eye to form and a personal approach to your needs. It is indeed a neighborhood gem. Take classes here if you really want to learn Pilates the way Joseph Pilates would've wanted you to learn it.

I love The Pilates Local for several reasons. It starts with the positive welcoming vibe—the owners are as welcoming as they are expert. Their encouragement and individual interest and attention give real meaning to their name—the studio feels like Cheers ( where everybody knows your name..without the beer!). In an airy light-filled upstairs space, they’ve carefully arranged tower, mats, Cadillac and reformers. I’m a Tower fan and the teachers have been terrific-challenging but tailoring to each person’s level. Also took a MELT class there and plan to integrate that as well as their special workshops into my fitness plans. Love this oasis just south of Union Square!

I have been training with Michele Rinaldi, one of the co-founders, for more than 2 years. She is very professional, detail-oriented and has an incredible memory and attention for people's bodies and their respective needs. The Pilates Local is a welcoming place, a haven of kindness in the heart of New York City.

I have been training with Kristin, one of the owners, for about ten years and moved studios when she and Michelle opened their own place. It's bright and cheerful and cozy all at once. Most importantly, their training is AWESOME. They are perfectionists about form, but somehow make the corrections fun instead of naggy. The time flies by and I leave feeling two inches taller! Go, for sure.

I began working with Michele Rinaldi a year and a half ago in order to rehab a rotator cuff injury. Within a few months I was pain-free and had regained range of motion. I have continued to train with her as well as with other trainers at the Pilates Local and have had a great experience doing so. I am very impressed with the level of professional knowledge of the staff and their attention to my specific needs. The Pilates Local has my highest recommendation!

It was the first time I did not enjoy my experience doing Pilates. The instructor did not listen to my questions or concerns. I spoke to the owner after she asked how it went and she said that you don’t always gel with an instructor. She did not seem concerned to me that I did not enjoy my experience.

Both Michele and Kristin are amazing Pilates instructors. Whenever I train with Michele, she encourages me to work on my form, push a little harder, dig a little deeper and get as much benefit as possible from the training I'm experiencing. I'm always a little sore the day after a session, but only in the best way possible. It's a wonderful studio for a Pilates experience.

Whenever I go to The Pilates Local it feels like the real deal. Many of the people who train here seem like pilates instructors themselves. Michele and Kristin really know their stuff. They embody the best combination of Knowledgeable, friendly, down-to-earth, and continuous students themselves. If this is the place for other pilates instructors from around NYC to come and train, it's more than legit.

I am a huge fan of Kristin and Michele's Pilates Local. Although I am pretty athletic, I had tried Pilates a few times in other places, but it never really "stuck" until now. It's a perfect confluence of rigorous teaching with a big dose of fun and humor, great Zen location and the best results!! I highly recommend it!

Pilates Local is a class act in every respect. A beautifully outfitted studio that has all the personal touches making it a perfect place to hang out. But wait a minute, while the trainers are all charming and delightful, the sessions are rigorous and focused on what is best for the client.

Kristin Hoesl has been my trainer for 5 years - I joined her as soon as she announced the opening of the new studio and have been there from opening week.. As one of her more challenging clients, I credit her with keeping me as active as I am given my advanced age and by creating
an exercise regimen specifically to relieve my various aches and pains. I am pleased to give her and the studio the highest rating.
