Fantastic approach for all levels. A focus on breathing, and applying it to strengthening all muscle groups to bring overall body health, sets up a well balanced practice that is challenging to the body and stimulating to the mind. The gentle 90 minute sessions bring a feeling of calmness and well-being physically and mentally. Energizing Highly recommend this enlightening and unique approach!

I am a regular in Patty Holmes's Yoga Garden since 2015. I joined because I was having constant strains and muscle pulls when playing tennis and other sports. Since joining, my body is able to endure so much more physical activity. More importantly, Patty's yoga practice gives me a mindset that I bring to all aspects of my life, such as strategies to keep calm, how to dissipate painful situations, and gratitude. The Yoga Garden is now an integral part of my weekly routine.

When I wake up in the morning feeling like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, I know Patty’s yoga class will be just what I need. I may start the class feeling creaky, but by the end of the session, Patty has helped me stretch, massage, and strengthen all those tender places. Her approach to some of the more formal aspects of yoga takes the practice to new places as she incorporates breathing, poses, and a meditative perspective into a rejuvenating experience. You can push as much as you want; she is supportive and sensitive to individual needs and goals. After nearly 10 years with Patty, in the Yoga Garden and online, I would highly recommend her classes to a new, fallen away, or experienced Yogi.

I started taking Patty’s class earlier this year due to back pain, and with each session, I have felt a steady improvement. Patty is a wonderful teacher who truly understands and supports each student’s needs. Her deep knowledge guides us through a journey of physical healing, emotional balance, and a sense of inner peace. I highly recommend her class to anyone looking to nurture both body and soul.

Amazing experience. I’ve attended for the last 2+ years and it’s unlike any other yoga class. Patty is phenomenal, incredibly knowledgeable, and her classes address physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. What I learn in class is translatable to life off the mat (eg, learning to pace myself, listen to my body, build awareness into value systems, how to manage discomfort, etc). I think of her classes akin to therapy for the body. Highly recommend!

Patty is a phenomenal yogi and spiritual master. I don't use those words lightly. I wouldn't have got through my divorce so gently if I hadn't had a safe place on my mat with Patty as my guide. Her knowledge is forever growing, one session is always so different and creative from the next one. Her artistry seems to strengthen on a weekly basis. The other yogis that join the sessions on-line are delightful and fill the rest of my day with a sense of joy. I am forever grateful for The Yoga Garden, it is a home for me and my body. I wouldn't be the same without it. Thank you Patty!

I have been a student for over 20 years and continue to look forward to every class. I always leave the studio glad I made the time to stretch, learn something new and find joy in such a welcoming space. Patty is mindful of individual needs and has a unique way of connecting with everyone. Through yoga she encourages students to find, in her words, spaciousness, stability and satisfaction in daily life. Count me in!

The Yoga Garden is a special place. Patty is encouraging, understanding and her classes are always thoughtful. Patty is always aware of her yogis aches and pains and teaches in a way that allows your body to do yoga without worrying about doing it "right"! Yoga is a practice, which Patty always reminds us of. Patty tapers the class to your individual needs and physical limitations when needed. I think I speak for many of Patty's students when I say she makes you feel like the best yogi in the universe. It is a mindful class that is also always full of fun and laughter.

Patty's practice spans across a wide variety of yoga philosophies and styles and she incorporates her in-depth knowledge about physiology and mindset. My husband and I take private lessons that are tailored to our energy that day and she seamlessly addresses our individual needs - no two lessons are ever the same! The studio space at St. Bart's is great. If you're wondering if Patty's yoga practice is for you, give it a try!

I have been taking yoga class with Patty since 1999 and there’s just not enough room to say all I’d like to say. Patty has not only taught me the benefits of yoga for both the mind and body, but she’s always been there for me, through some very tough times. I have to say, not only is she an excellent teacher but she also gives individual attention to anyone needing help with a pose. If you’re looking for “more than a yoga teacher” Patty is the one. I love her and the Yoga Garden and thank her from the bottom of my heart.

In early 2018, I started coming here, and I'm only sorry that I didn't start sooner, considering that I live a three-minute walk from the studio.

Though I am usually the sole guy surrounded by ladies, I actually don't mind. The energy is great: not too hyper, not sleep-inducing yet still calming... it's just right.

Patty is very supportive and has that rare gift of being able to offer instructive/constructive feedback without making you feel awkward or out of place. She occasionally peppers her robust knowledge of yoga with useful, poignant snippets about metaphysics, biology, psychology, and even pop culture from time to time--all of which is music to my ears.

I always leave Patty's yoga class better than when I came in, i.e., more relaxed, more open-minded, and with any life anxiety melting away. Sometimes I really do feel like I'm floating on a cloud, and the little garden and mini-park feel of the exterior space immediately outside the studio doesn't hurt (see photo).

To the outside observer, some of the classes may seem like a piece of cake, but you'd be surprised how engaged your muscles and core are even when doing seemingly basic breath and stretching exercises. I go to the gym from time to time, and do a bit of outdoor running, and yoga is a great complement to those activities.

The studio itself, meaning the physical space, is also very conducive to yoga. The natural light is a bonus, especially when sunlight floods the room in the middle of a deep session. The newly installed HVAC system is pretty neat, too. But, it's really Patty's awesome vibe and the calming, positive energy of the fellow participants that has me coming back time and again.

Thanks for reading, and may you thrive--in your career and in life.

Patty is a highly qualified yoga teacher. She makes you feel comfortable, at ease and inclusive. Always greeting you with a smile. Her lessons are breath centered. She starts by asking you to think of an intention for the practice and follows by a chant, she also finishes her practice with a chant/OM which I find absolutely beautiful (a beginning and an end)! Her aim is to give you the best practice that suits your needs rather then squeeze and force you into “the perfect yoga pose”, which for some of us is just impossible and intimidating. I’m always amazed how knowledgeable she is about the human body. The way she explains visually, on herself, where the muscles, tendons and bones connect to certain parts and the importance of how they work together and what happens if they don’t. As I am a visual person this makes always perfect sense to me and gives me a better understanding why I need to do certain movements. I gained so much knowledge about the (my) body thanks to Patty. Every week I’m looking forward to my yoga practice. I highly recommend Patty!

Are you looking for a truly breath centered yoga practice?
Go to the Yoga Garden where Patty will help you explore yoga poses from the inside out, riding your waves of inhale and exhale while discovering your preferences, patterns and habits along the way. First you might think this is a slow and easy class, but soon you will discover that you are on a body trip full of expansion that contagiously effects your mindset for the better.
You will ease into poses you never thought possible – like Patty guided me into a free headstand. Patty will teach you to widen, melt open, sink into, balance. She will help you to find your Sthira – your firm structures: steady and alert and your ‘Sukha’ – your lighthearted, free floating explorations.
At the same time, you will find yourself in places where you feel vulnerable, jittery and wobbly, judgmental. Before you know it you slowly let go of your attitudes and find new goals: like how can I support myself in most difficult poses (life circumstances)? How can I find ways to build stamina while not over-committing? Or under different circumstances take a risk I didn’t know was worth taking, like hanging out in a back-bend I always avoided.
You will find focus in sequencing Vinyasas, you will want to memorize flow patterns, and build your home practice. On the way you might be inspired by other yogis sharing the adventure and celebrating the small victories of ‘doing / being you’. You will find yourself in the paradox of being steeped into yoga tradition while at the same time wondering about your unique existence.
Are you looking for a yoga practice from the inside out – check out Patty at the Yoga Garden, a light filled place. You will find good company there too.

Patty has world's of experience! The Center is to learn breathing techniques which helps with flexibility. If you have chronic pain, come, it will help alleviate working thru it. Patty also does private sessions in her home.

I have been recently advised that Patty also does private sessions in her home. TU.

The best yoga class in Westchester.I have been practicing Yoga with different teachers and mentors for the past 14 years; Patty Holmes is among the best of them. She is a wonderful teacher; her approach has helped me be aware of how my body reacts to each asana, with full understanding of the pose and its direct relation to my needs. Her practice is based on breathing, which makes of each class a truly Yoga experience. I Love It!
