I can easily say that I am in the best shape of my life since starting with Transform. The work outs are savage, but can be scaled to any skill level. Every single coach in this gym is an expert in their field. If you are dedicated and consistent, the gains are amazing and you will feel like a superhero

Hands down, the best place to train. And no, the reviews aren’t exaggerating! The coaches here are absolutely incredible—knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping everyone improve. Every class is challenging but fun, and the energy in the space is just awesome. I’ve gained so much strength since I started, and I actually look forward to every class.

Transform Fitness has outstanding coaches who genuinely care about your progress and well being. Classes are beginner friendly while still providing a challenging environment for even the most advanced athletes. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and patient, taking the time to ensure proper form. You use muscles you didn’t even know you have. It’s also very fun so you’re eager to go back even when it’s a strenuous workout.

I’m saying without a touch of hyperbole that Transform Fitness NYC has saved my life!
I move with increased fluidity, ease and confidence.
Daniela who teaches the spinal strength class is a miracle worker! Also, every other person who there works is phenomenal.
It is as if they all have PhD’s in movement.
As a senior citizen, I am very grateful to study at a place that is highly effective and extremely supportive.
You should visit Transform Fitness, nyc soon.

All trainers are truly elite in many ways, so there is practically unlimited potential here. However, they’re also great at adapting most classes and all exercises down to their basic beginner elements. Cannot recommend enough for those interested in flexibility, gymnastics, gymnastics strength, handstands, rings, etc.

It’s not everyday that I go to a handstand class-or any class, and it begins with the doorman speaking highly of “the guys upstairs,” and ends with a student telling me how she’s there daily because she’s tried them all and it’s the best one!
The class itself while challenging was actually fun, and because of the small number of people in it, I felt like I had enough personal attention.
I left with quite a bit of technical info that I can use for my aerials class, and feeling like I can get over my fear of falling while working on my handstand.

I have studied here for two years. This type of work is complex and there are no short cuts, but having the right coaches from the beginning saves injury and years of wasted time.
Originally, I came here after hurting myself self-training the splits. It was taking a step back at first to learn to do it right, but now that my mind and body understand what I need to do, my splits are solid; I do them with strength and joy and am working toward further progressions.
Similarly, I spent a couple of years elsewhere trying to get my handstand. I'm finally getting some free-standing time and a lot more confidence. As well as a wide variety of types of handstands.
A shout out to Dela and Jan who have both been instrumental in my journey!

Had been working on calisthenics for a little over a year, (standard weightlifting before that) but suffered from tendon issues from lack of proper programming, and found this spot which focuses on gymnastics strength training, and essentially a formalized structured version of what I was working on. Totally changed my approach and have given me so much more knowledge that has enabled me to push my development. Lots of insights into form, technique that were not intuitive and that I hadn’t been able to glean from deep dives into YouTube, etc. Great, supportive community with awesome people. Shoutout Evan in particular, who fixed my wrist issues. I feel so grateful to have found Transform.

I have been training at Transform Fitness for the past fifteen years. When I first arrived here I was a mess. I was 42 years old, overweight, with a frozen shoulder, stiff hips, consistent back pain and hamstrings that were so tight that squats and lunges were quite beyond me. I also hated working out.
A friend recommended I see Paul Watson and thankfully I listened. Paul is the owner and the inspiration behind Transform Fitness. He has an innate understanding of how our bodies should work and equally important how to work with clients so as to achieve results. Yes he works with gymnasts but he also works with people like myself who the closet we get to gymnastics is every four years when we watch the olympics.
It wasn’t easy. Paul is a kind , sweet person but he also sees what your body needs and every session is different and builds on what you have done before. 15 years later I can truly say Paul and his team have changed my life. I am 25 pounds lighter, back pain free, I can squat, lunge and most importantly I feel connected to my body. 4 years ago I started working with another trainer, Elyssa Brown , on handstands ( I actually can’t believe I typed that statement). Well now I can do Handstands. I can now handstand.
I am now 57 years old and in the best shape of my life and I owe that to Paul and his trainers.
If you really want to make a long term difference to your health and fitness I cannot recommend Transform Fitness highly enough.

I first came to this gym about 7 months ago curious about gymnastics/calisthenics and I'm glad I did. As an adult, it is hard to find gymnastics gyms that have trainers and classes that concentrate on adult learners that don't have the same resilience as children. Before coming to transform, I had mostly just worked out at the gym and played recreational sports. But coming to transform opened up a whole new world for me and I got hooked. I started doing one-on-one sessions with Jorge and other individual classes, such as the gymnastics strength training basics, handstands, and splits strength. And then I started supplementing that with workouts supplied by Jorge on my own. And all of that culminated into getting a lot stronger and in better shape than I ever had before even though I am 31 years old.
So if you're looking for a place to learn basic gymnastics and get in better shape, definitely check out transform. All the trainers here love what they do and love helping others achieve their goals.

They have a good intentions but if you injure yourself like I did they won’t give you your money back. Unfortunately for me I had an unprofessional instructor (Jorge) who worked with me on rings. I had no experience, im not young, and I also made it clear that I can get injured, after having two disc herniations. On the 2nd training jorge tried teaching me exercises that eventually resulted in wrist injury that I suffered from for months. Week later I said I can’t train because of the pain, but Jorge pressured me “to come show him the injury”, and we ended up doing physio on my wrist which didn’t do much, but at least he got another class checked. After seeing more professional physiotherapist, I was asked to avoid doing these exercises and let my wrist heal. I reached out to the transform management to ask for a refund on the remaining classes, but they refused saying I signed a waiver. They also said “I’m welcome to use the remaining classes”.. which after months of pain and pt, there was no way I was going to come back. My advise - make sure you’re aware that if you get injured, you’re not going to get refund. Make sure you choose an experienced trainer that can adapt the training to your condition, age and experience level. We ended up resolving this with 50% refund which I appreciate. I did want to make sure my case is shared as review. Injuries can happen, and especially at a place like this. Make sure you protect yourself in case you get injured.

I have been taking the livestream classes via classPass with TransformFitness for the last 3 months. I do CrossFit for the last 6 years and yet never had such great guidance for the correct aligning and improvement in gymnastics movements, especially handstands that coach Evan maintain. I absolutely recommend these classes and I hope the livestream is here to stay :)

I never took gymnastics (apart from whatever we did in grade school) and never considered myself an athlete. After first hearing about this gym in WSJ I decided to check it out. I've been taking the livestream classes and it has been really amazing. You work muscles you never knew you had. I'm starting slow and sticking to the beginner classes and the instructors are really great - they take the time to explain everything and they are very patient. I don't feel self-conscious at all about not being at a certain level yet and I feel confident that I will get there eventually with practice and consistency. It has been a great supplement to my weight training and running workouts! Even after my first few classes I noticed a difference in my muscle definition and improved strength/performance in other forms of exercise. I look forward to visiting the space once the pandemic is over and taking classes in person! And getting stronger. Thank you, Transform Fitness!!

I trained at Transform GST for 6 months and I echo everything said by the other reviewers. It starts with the coaches and every one of them brings something unique to class. Most of my classes were with Jan and Elyssa and they are both excellent teachers as well as people. Jan is outstanding at overall movement and provides such good insight to where you might be falling short in trying to attain a certain skill. He will go above and beyond to assist you and provide very unique adaptations to help your body achieve the particular skill that is the focus. Elyssa possesses a rare ability to have both knowledge (skill, background) and teaching ability that helps accelerate the learning curve. I have been involved in fitness in some shape or form for over 20 years, seen hundreds of coaches/trainers, and honestly put her right there at the top. All the members are friendly and are willing to help any way they can. No ego, just good people. I enjoyed my time training there and can't recommend them enough!

Big fan of Transform GST. For the past 2 1/2 years I have trained there every time business travel takes me to NYC. Each time i would take as much information as I could back home with me in the form of notes, and videos so I could continue the training on my own. The effectiveness of the program is undisputed and here is my proof that the program bulletproofs you: This past fall I hiked alone in Nepal along the Annapurna trail, carried all my own gear (24 lbs without water)along a 15 day route that brought me up to 17,450'. I am 60 years old and thanks to the great training at TGST I did not have one single physical issue/problem! Walked down 3000' elevation in one afternoon and no knee issues. Bullet proof knees and back strength!
Now with TGST's new zoom based classes I finally have the opportunity to practice with TGST on a regular basis at home. Dream come thru! Thanks you guys are terrific!

This place is amazing. First off, Paul and Nick are very present and available, for owners that also double as coaches, they have built a tremendous community with this studio. Like many I found this super versatile space as a ClassPass user. Things are very low key here if you are new to all of the different skills sets involved in learning Gymnastics Strength Training, but that doesn't mean that the coaches are anything less than stellar. Each one of the several expert gymnasts that guide you through each class type is very patient and well spoken. They express complex concepts simply and take time to make sure the basics are deeply understood and appreciated. This is definitely a "makes learning fun" environment. I don't often write reviews but ever since I started coming here in early October, I have been consistently impressed and gratified by how much progress I have been able to make because I trust the people who make up the experiences I have each time I go. One other thing I will also say, similar to what I imagine happens in a CrossFit "box" there is a sense of acceptance within the class members that allows everyone to be happy at their level. The exception to the CrossFit analogy? You're less than likely to get hurt here because you feel like you need to push yourself to succeed. Just keep at it and enjoy the benefits.

This place is a gem. I love the principles behind gymnastics strength training (and Gymnastics Bodies/GymFit) and getting people to rediscover and develop body awareness, strength, skill and mobility. The team/coaches here are hands down nothing short of amazing. Their anatomical knowledge and training is extremely appreciated. It has been a welcome addition to my training routine. Don’t feel intimidated by the fact that it’s gymnastics...you will be building up and refining very slowly. Foundations and good form are emphasized above all here. Great stuff going on here!

I've been a member here for about a year. It took me a long time to find an adult gymnastics class that would elevate my overall fitness goals (to be better at Crossfit, stop going to chiropractors, reduce injuries, etc); Transform GST is precisely the spot that. The coaches here are incredibly talented. No matter how many people are in the class, the athletes get a lot of attention specific to them. The coaches will call you out when they see a muscle you never even knew you had isn't flexed enough. They focus on technique and form over anything else, so no matter where you are in your fitness, it'll be tough but SO rewarding :)

I waited a bit to post a review. I've been going to this place consistently for 1.5 months and taken 30+ classes. I'm ready to post a review now :) I've had good instructors and some OK instructors in the past, and I've learned from this. You need to train with good instructors and this is one of the criteria I considered before deciding to commit and train at TransformGST. I was impressed with my very first class (I didn't know I had walked into a handstand foundations class!). I had taken a couple of handstand classes elsewhere, but this one was different. Elyssa taught us, and made us work on, the basics! I have a better understanding of handstands now. Understanding is key in anything you set your mind to, so you know what you’re doing and why, and what you need to work on. I still can’t do a handstand, but I have built some strength and flexibility along the way, and have more to go. The trainers at TransformGST are top-rated in my opinion. Elyssa, Evan, Chenee, Jan, I even had Jorge recently; they are all excellent and I’m happy I found this bunch. They all leave me with the gift of soreness to take home at the end of class (the good type of soreness, that is LOL!). I value the tips and corrections that are given to me. I want to be corrected, even though I joke that they make the exercise harder; they can only make me stronger. Seeing this place for the first time, or looking at its website, can be intimidating (this is what I get from friends and coworkers as well). I want to simply say, this can be a place for everyone, at all levels. This is the way to train, to properly build your core, strength, and flexibility. You master the basics so you can transition to the next level. We all start somewhere, and this place has the right level for you to start. I’ve been to a place where an instructor told a beginner to sit it out for an advance exercise. The instructors at TransformGST will adjust exercises to your level and capability; you will have a great workout and the athletes that train here are always willing to help out as well. Last thing, this place is not just for people who want to do handstands or master the rings or do gymnastics (or whatever one thinks gymnastics is). You come here to work on your body, all parts of your body and the muscles you didn’t know you had, which will help and make you more proficient in whatever other sports, art, or exercise you practice.

The team at Transform GST is amazing - they guide you to form proper technique from the start and push you when they know you got more to give. Classes and the overall environment is very inclusive and friendly which makes training fun, not intimidating. Each class is a great workout bringing elements of strength and mobility. Instructors bring their own style and personality to how they lead each class, which provides for interesting variety to similar classes during the week. Started with class pass and it didn’t take much more than 1 class to get hooked. Great team, offering something that’s pretty damn unique even for a huge city like NYC.

Taking classes at Transform have been one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I've been taking classes consistently for around 10 months, and in my opinion, this place has some of the best fitness classes you can take in New York. Ever since I have been coming here, I have seen a great improvement in my strength, and I have never felt as strong and fit in my life as I do now. The classes specializes in gymnastics strength training, which might sound intimidating for some people, but it does a great job at giving you a total body workout. From what I noticed, many of the members, from beginners to pros, have seen strength and mobility enhancements since they have started taking classes. I believe a big reason for that is the coaches. All of the coaches are great at explaining the exercises done in class and helping you achieve your strength goals. They make the classes enjoyable, and entertaining, yet you still get a solid workout in by the end of each class. Paul, Nick, Elyssa, Evan, Cheneè, and Jan are all awesome and super sweet. Overall, this facility is definitely worth recommending for anyone wanting to take a fitness class focused on building strength or flexibility.

I’ve been coming to Transform GST for 3 years now and is the only gym that I’ve ever stuck with for any length of time. The gymnastics strength & flexibility programming keeps me motivated because every exercise has a greater purpose so there’s always an end-goal or skill in mind, and it’s not just “go to the gym and lift some weights”. I've been looking for a place like Transform GST for a long time. GST focuses on strength and flexibility together so that, in the strength classes, you get stronger without losing range of motion and, in the mobility/stretching classes, you improve range of motion while developing the muscles to support it. In working this way, you inevitably end up developing the mind-muscle connection which is a huge added plus. On top of all of that, the instructors are all fantastic and the community is extremely welcoming and inclusive. Can't recommend this place enough.
