I been a member with trooper fitness for 3 years now in the past 3 months not only do i take classes i also personal train with prince. Besides seeing the results you want this team of coaches are so dedicated and make the class experience fun and they push you to your limit at the same time. I’ve been to a lot of gyms in New York City, but I’ve never trained so hard and with a better community than at Trooper. The workouts are TOUGH, but the people in your class are literally clapping for you and high fiving you the whole time. I trained for two physical reality TV shows at this gym and they had me in the best shape of my life. Prince and Jen have really created something special here!

Fantastic strength workout! I've worked out with 2 of their trainers and absolutely loved my workout both times. Very challenging but everyone can work at their own pace. They are legitimate strength and powerlifting workouts with personal trainers but scaled down or up for everyone to be challenged but not overwhelmed. 12/10 would recommend.

Trooper is the opposite of the big-box gyms.

It is a class-style gym, with each coach being inviting and super friendly to everyone taking their respective class. They have an excellent program and teach new/challenging lifts that hit every muscle group. They also offer more full-body workouts like HIIT-style classes. Both are an hour long, and everyone can go at their own pace. They push you if you want to be pushed and support you if you are struggling. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

I have done pilates and soul cycle, so lifting a little weights a BREEZE. Sykeeeee, this was a beginners intense class for glutes & quads. I did squat thrust 95lbs, I might say, and was very PROUD of myself. Noble, you are a true gem to the trooper facility from the moment you greeted me when I finished the class. I appreciate you for the tour also. The facility is located on the 2nd floor, so you ring the bell and enter the glass door, not the black door. Showers, bathrooms, and lockers are available.

My favorite classes are Bench with Prince, pull-ups with Kai, and deadlifts with Erica. Trooper has an incredible range of diverse workout classes to meet everyone's goals. The coaches' unwavering support and motivation are matched only by the intensity of the workouts themselves. Despite the group setting, it feels as though each session is tailored to my individual needs, with the coaches keeping a watchful eye on everyone's form. Trooper has also had an impact on my relationship with food. Before trooper I had guilt and fear surrounding food. Just after a few months at trooper I've had a mindset shift. Now, I see food as fuel, nourishing my body to become stronger and more capable with each workout and to be able to keep up with my amazing and very strong peers at trooper.
The true magic of trooper really lies in the community that the trooper team has built. From fellow class goers to the entire team, everyone here is invested in each other's growth and success. As a beginner, I've never felt judged or inadequate—on the contrary, I've been met with nothing but encouragement and support from my peers. Trooper isn't just about physical exercise, it's about personal growth, empowerment, and camaradie.

I absolutely love Trooper Fitness. When I started at Trooper 5 months ago, my only goal was to get in better physical shape. I remember one of my first classes where Prince said something along the lines of this isn't just about physical health, it's about mental perseverance. I definitely rolled my eyes thinking, I'm just here to work out. Prince was 1000% right though. Not only have I gotten physically stronger, my mental health has improved. I look forward to my morning workouts and although I'm dying all throughout, I feel amazing after. There virtual classes are perfect for someone like me who has so much going on. Being able to still dedicate time to do this for myself makes all the difference. I can't say enough about Trooper Fitness but in short, their classes are just the right amount of challenging, they're affordable and you truly become part of a community.

I relocated back to NYC in February and had to come back home to Trooper Fitness! We have a bigger and brighter location on the 2nd floor that is amazing. Trooper offers small group classes where you can focus on specific body areas like upper or lower body or if you need to increase endurance or hit full body they got that too. If you never stepped in a gym or strength trained it doesn’t matter because Trooper Coaches are there helping you through each movement, figuring out what weight works best for you, giving more weight to the tenure members even though we didn’t ask and somehow we are able to lift it with the help of Trooper magic. Trooper is different than any gym because we truly are a supportive community of each other. We plan our workouts around each other’s schedules so we can not only workout but cheer each other on when we hit our milestones. I built really great friendships that helped me through really tough times in my life and I will always be grateful for my Trooper family!

It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is (if you can hold a small car over your head or if climbing subway stairs takes your breath away) this is the gym to try! If you’re nervous and need a friend to join you in your first class, let them know Stacie invited you and I’ll workout with you. WE GOT YOU!!!

Say goodbye to waiting in the gym for a squat rack to open. Ditch that weird feeling you get not knowing what exercises to do. Stop following fad instagram workouts and unqualified trainers. Start to get strong(er) by ditching all of that b.s. and going to Trooper.

I originally came to Trooper back in 2017/2018 and loved it, During those years i was in the best shape of my life! During my 5 year gap I've done everything in-between, from Peloton to Beach Body and honestly nothing compares to the quality of workouts you receive when you step into Trooper!

Don't be intimidated or think this is just a place where you have to lift crazy heavy weight to enter, its not. The classes are small enough for the coaches to keep an eye on each participant and they help you along the way with form and modifications. I have also never met a negative person in class. Everyone is there to get better! Everyone works as a team, you can be at the same squat rack with someone pulling or pushing more weight than you and feel no egos or judgement. Everyone just helps reset the bar for you when its your turn. This is the most motivational space I've ever been in!

Trooper fitness is a lifestyle. Words can’t describe the dedication and passion that each of the coaches embody every time you’re in their presence. It’s beyond the physical with Trooper they focus on the individuals mental that will allow them to build the physical. It’s honestly a family environment that Prince and Jen have created and it’s a blessing to be apart of. I've been going to Trooper for over 1.5 years now. I've gone to over 230 sessions -- which in and of itself is a HUGE testament to the power and support of the Trooper fitness staff and community. Prior to coming to Trooper I had never been successful in having a long-term engagement with any gym or fitness program. I'd dabbled in running here and there, but never really saw the results and never felt like I was much of a "fitness person". For the most part, I felt like my body was just something that I used to carry my brain around.

Coming to Trooper radically changed that.

When I first joined, I was shocked by the intensity of the programs. Literally, the warm-ups alone got me feeling exhausted. But because of the support and motivation of the coaches, I stuck with it. Gradually I started to see my endurance pick-up and my strength along with it. Within a few months, I was clearly seeing the changes in my physical strength, energy, and self-perception. Now having come for over a year, Trooper is very much part of my regular daily routine and my wife says: "I work out too much." (Which would be crazy for me to imagine anyone telling me two years ago.)

I can't say enough positive things about Trooper.

If you're a first-timer who might be intimidated by weight training or who has had bad experiences in other gyms (I for one have tried cross-fit and other boutique gyms in the city and often been burned) -- you'll find the Trooper coaches and community to be super supportive. Every class *feels* like a small one and you truly get personalized attention.

If you're an experienced lifter or someone who is looking for a challenge, the coaches will find ways to push you. I've never once seen or heard anyone come out of a Trooper class and shrug it off. Every class pushes you to get to the next level.

Trooper Fitness inspires. And not in the drill sergeant yelly kind of way to make sure you do 100 push-ups lol but they push you. The absolute BEST gym out there. I discovered Trooper through ClassPass and was hooked after the 1st one - and have been a loyal member for close to 5 years now. I used to hop around from class to class on ClassPass and wasn't really clear on my gym goals; after joining Trooper, I've gotten stronger, leaner, and learned a lot about what my long-term goals are and how to meet them.

Classes are divided into lower body, upper body, metcon classes, and cardio classes - I love that you can focus on different areas on different days and incorporate that into your schedule.

The major pros of the gym are:
1) A really strong community - everyone who goes there is awesome. (Also the holiday parties are the best!)
2) The BEST coaches - they're really the best in the business and can help you reach all your goals and break down the science behind every movement you do.
3) Virtual classes - I've been using their virtual classes since 2020 and haven't stopped because I travel a lot. It's also helped me take classes I would've never before & I've been the fittest I've ever been because of it. I usually take their virtual classes anytime I can't go into the gym.

Highly recommend you try this gym!! 10/10 for everything.

Not many gyms offer classes that focus on classic barbell lifting. I remember looking all over NY to try to find a gym like this and feel so lucky to have found this one. Having gone here for just over a year, it's a supportive and uplifting family and judgment free zone. My squats, bench and pull-ups have all improved and I have Trooper to thank. When I saw that Trooper also offers intense bootcamp/cardio classes, I left Equinox and never looked back. Thanks Trooper!

Why have I been attending classes at Trooper for more than a year now?

Even when there are 10 people in the room, the coaches pay great attention to the individual needs of the class participants. Thus Troopers develop greater confidence with the various lifts, and in turn greater strength and muscle tone. Troopers form a rather cohesive community, and that encourages you to keep coming, which also helps you make progress. (Like Cheers, if you understand dated TV references) But it's not clique-y, and people have a lot of fun while supporting one another..

Troopers are a diverse lot, all different body types, and at different stages on their journeys. So you'll fit whether you're using 15 lb dumbbells for your shoulder press or racking 100 lbs onto the barbell.

The admin staff are attentive, the space is well-decorated and neat.

In summary, it's a great, friendly, but serious gym. Well worth the membership fee.

If you don’t look close enough, you will probably miss this gem in midtown Manhattan. Trooper Fitness (TF) on 54th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues is only marked by their sidewalk advertisement board in front of the building they occupy space in. A gym that specializes in small group (12 max) classes in strength (chest, squats, deadlift, hip thrust themed), HIIT (metcon and cardiocon), mobility and recovery guidance, and personal training sits on the 6th floor. They have a diverse set of certified coaches to guide you through training better, making you stronger and fitter. Most importantly is the mental aspect of their coaching, empowering all to not only be their physical best but their mental best.

Classes are mostly early AM and late afternoon into the evening 7 days a week. The scheduling of the different types lets you tailor your programme to your needs. If you are not sure of what your programming should be, the coaches are more then willing to help. TF also offers nutrition guidance to coincide with your training programme.

Training is structured and challenging. They follow monthly cycles in their strength training (endurance, hypertrophy, max). You are pushed but the coaches acknowledge and respect when you’ve reached your limit, as long as you are giving 100%. No one is forced into anything they are uncomfortable with. But they will push you if they know you are just doubting yourself to overcome that mental hurdle. My partner and I, with clearly two different levels of experience and separate paths and goals, have benefitted from being here.

Clientele is diverse from all walks of life, and fitness levels. There are no egos or meatheads to deal with. TF prides itself on bringing together and building the community of fitness and well-being amongst those that choose to join them.

Rates are reasonable and what is expected for a midtown Manhattan gym for what the services they provide.

I’ve only excluded one star for a perfect score only because the space is a bit small but 2023 will bring an expansion into a new space which I’m confident will only benefit their services.

I've attended about 10 or so different group fitness classes throughout the city, and Trooper is the only establishment that I've purchased a membership for. Have been coming here for about a year, have tried all types of their classes with all of their coaches and I absolutely love it. Trooper offers all types of lifting (deadlifts, squats, bench, pullups, etc) and cardio based classes (bootcamps, cardiocon, metcon, etc). I wanted a structure for squats and deadlifts especially and i appreciate how they cycle through endurance up to heavier lifting days, and even offer a max strength day!

At the very least, ask about getting a free intro class and then decide for yourself from there. That's what I did and have been hooked ever since.

Prior to Trooper I was unhappy and saw myself as weak. Direction from Trooper coaches helped me define strength. They did not go easy on me, and I saw that as the respect that have for me and how hard I try. I came into Trooper booming and eager to try my best. It was a place where I felt no fear. This is a Trooper review but mostly a Jen appreciation post. My first class was lead by Jen herself earlier this year when I moved back to NYC from LA. Jen and her staff helped me get into AMAZING shape ahead of 2 music videos and a tour! When I consistently workout with them, my body genuinely transforms, my energy levels are high and I feel so damn good. Even if I take time off and go back, the conditioning, technique, discipline and class formats are so strong that it doesn't take much for me to get back to my baseline. Hands down, the best gym ever! The owners and every single coach there is very passionate and extremely good at what they do. They are all very accessible for any questions you may have. Their feedback for you is super specific and helpful! The coaches also do the right level of nudging and teach you the right techniques for you to make progress. I went from 15 lb dumbell shoulder press to eventually 50lb barbell shoulder press in 4 weeks (one of the several such examples I can give about their classes and coaches). The energy in every class is so contagious. I have been able to hit some personal bests and do some exercises that I have never imagined doing just in the last year or so. I should also say that I started at Trooper as a complete beginner for the type of training they offer and saw improvements week over week on all aspects of my training. I can’t recommend Trooper Fitness enough. Cleanliness is on par, equipment is all there, and the trainers (troopers) are super knowledgeable. The knowledge of the trainers is what originally kept me coming back to the classes; they can spot where your form needs improvement and really tailor the workouts to you, even in a fully booked class. What I love most is the ATMOSPHERE. Definitely a welcoming and inviting atmosphere. I come from doing yoga and Pilates, which is absolutely not similar to Metcon and deadlifting, but I never felt discouraged or judged. If you’re thinking of coming to trooper JUST DO IT.

I had heard about Trooper from Coach Jojo's mom for a year, and have had the opportunity to Zoom in for Trooper virtual from Massachusetts for the past two months. From my first New Year's Day workout to a five day schedule of super challenging boot camp, metcon and cardiocon classes, each class has felt rewarding. I can see changes in strength and endurance that are motivation to keep going, even during a 100-squat, 100-pushup opener!

Joining Trooper has totally changed how I see fitness and mental health - the coaches are incomparable. I can 100% recommend Trooper Virtual and in-person classes for anyone who is interested in improving their fitness. I have been going to Trooper since 2018 and keep coming back because of: 1) my results, 2) the expert coaches, and 3) the workouts.

My experience in the gym has seamlessly transitioned into the Trooper Virtual arena. Trooper Virtual is personalized and boutique and is extremely different from the workouts out there on youtube or on the various subscriptions services. The workouts are different every single class, which keeps them interesting and challenging. The Trooper Coaches take the time to correct your form, learn your name and make sure that you are pushing yourself to the best of your ability - wherever you are in your fitness journey. The Coaches also take time to customize the moves and create workarounds (on the fly!) if you have an injury or you don't have a piece of equipment. (I have been doing just fine with my whiskey bottles here at home for certain moves.) Lastly the motivation of the coaches provides something special. No, we are not in the gym giving high fives or adding on extra plates, but having a Trooper Coach there motivating me for just 30 more seconds or 3 more reps allows me to continue to improve. This is something that I cannot get from a recorded workout.

I primarily do live classes and I recommend Trooper to anyone.

I have known the trooper crew since 2011. I have to tell you no one has as much passion, dedication and drive then they do. When I work out I am all about the energy and they bring it. They push me to keep going when I want to give up and encourage me to reach my goals. I often felt intimidated at other studios as they can be very ‘clique’; you have to almost earn your respect within the group. You receive such personalized attention while still being in a group setting from each and every coach. The thing that sets Trooper Fitness apart from many other NYC fitness studios is that the coaches actually coach. They will walk around the studio (or monitor the video feed for the virtual classes) and watch each student's form and give feedback on how to improve. I've been taking classes at Trooper for several years now and can honestly say it is one of the best workouts in the city (or anywhere for that matter). I originally found them on Classpass and was hooked from Day 1. All the instructors are amazing at what they do and consistently provide incredible workouts that push you to your limit, while being supportive and constantly educating to make sure you are getting your best workout - no matter what shape you are in or what goals you have. Trooper classes quickly became a staple in my weekly workout routine and evolved into personal training sessions with the owner, Prince.

For a fitness junkie like myself, when COVID lockdown hit I was devastated that my activity level and personal health might suffer. But Trooper came to the rescue! Before ANY other gym or fitness company, Trooper had a full schedule of live (and recorded) online/virtual classes to keep their members healthy and fit. I was skeptical that I could get the same quality workout in my living room that I could in the gym, but I was quickly proven wrong. The quality of the trainers and classes has not skipped a beat and I could not be happier. We're living in a crazy time right now and I can honestly say that maintaining my workout routine with Trooper has kept me healthy and fit - both physically and mentally. I take virtual Trooper classes everyday and they are a bright spot during hard times.

Lastly, the community Prince and his team have built is incredible. The atmosphere is so supportive and I've become friends with the trainers and my fellow Troopers in class. In addition to the camaraderie of the workout classes, they regularly schedule nutrition talks, happy hours, live Instagram/Facebook Q&As with the trainers, and more! Even virtually, it is very easy to follow as the instructors are very clear in their explanations and still manage to give attention to each student individually. My wife and I have been taking classes at Trooper for about 2 years and it's hands down the best place if you're looking for something that really WORKS. We've been doing indoor classes for a few months now and we feel extremely comfortable with how they've been handling procedures during COVID. We all wear masks (they can provide you with one if you want to change it prior/after your workout), reduced groups, there's cleaning wipes in every station, hand sanitizer stands. Thanks guys! I joined the trooper community about a month ago per recommendation from a friend and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the community and all of the trainers. I appreciate the motivation that each trainer provides during the live classes as well as the form adjustments to ensure you are doing each exercise properly. They provide modification options for each exercise which I greatly appreciate due to some lingering injuries and issues I have from playing sports my whole life. I already feel stronger and more dedicated to my health and well being after a short time of being part of the Trooper community. I was also offered a 1-1 session with one of the trainers to discuss my training schedule which was extremely helpful and greatly appreciated. I would 100% recommend trying at least one class out. I was worried about how working out from home would work for me- from the physical space and equipment needed to the efficacy to the motivation
- but Trooper’s virtual classes and community have all those bases covered. The schedule is so robust and varied: there are classes available no matter what time of day you can or want to workout, and I can rotate between dedicated strength workouts, cardio conditioning and total body workouts all in a week. But what I appreciate even more is the personal feel of the classes. The coaches make it known that they are there for you, whether you need a modification for an injury or the space & equipment I have available or a motivational word. Their care for you as an individual is palpable, even through a virtual membership. I started Trooper during the pandemic and it seemed as if the team had been running virtual for much longer than 3 months - the weekly schedule has many options to get your fill in, does not get repetitive and the coaches take an interest in every member's progress and goals. The value the coaches provide and the community they have built is above any other gym I've ever been a part of. The team has also put together indoor classes (groups of a few people with masks) and outdoor classes as well, weather permitting. The whole crew puts 5x the effort you'd expect to provide value to its members - no canned corporate gym here.

If you are looking for a kick to take your normal routine to the next level, the coaches will give it to you, and if you are trying to get in shape before summer for the first time since the pandemic started, you'll find the coaches will coach to your current ability level. Can't recommend the gym more!

I started Trooper Fitness in December with a free trial without any intention of joining....after a while of not working out. I took advantage of the free trial and booked a class every single day just so i can hold myself accountable, and became ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED! I ended up buying a package after the trial was over. Not enough words to express how amazing the coaches and programs are at this gym (imo the best gym in NYC pre and during covid). Prior to joining, I tried a lot of other gyms/programs (Crossfit, powerlifting, etc.) but liked how Trooper offered both a strength + HIIT schedule with multiple to choose from everyday. It was one of the few gyms that you could plan your strength workout around lower vs. upper body (example: Mon: upper push, Tues: lower push, Wed: upper pull). The coaches are all very good at motivating you to push yourself (and some I think enjoy the pain they inflict more than others lol). At first could be hard but at some point get's very addicting. At the onset of the pandemic, they managed to pivot very quickly to offer classes via Zoom and the high intensity level is still there. You can still choose between multiple strength or HIIT virtual classes.

Overall, I'm very happy with the progress I made as both my conditioning and strength improved dramatically. I think the most difficult aspect of fitness is having the discipline to just show up consistently. I'm glad I found a gym that made this easy for me.

Trooper has managed to make the most of the Zoom workouts - creating a dynamic community with a strong sense of teamwork and commitment. I love that I can join a variety of sessions from Maine and get an amazing workout where the coaches are always willing to help me with my form, build my strength, and push myself further than I thought I could.

I don't have words to say how Trooper held me in the pandemic. The workouts are great and unique. I burn more calories in an hour of the metcon class than 2 hours of continuous running on Treadmill. I have been a member since more than 2 years and I loved every single class I have taken. I’ve been a member of the team for years now and as someone who has tried everything from big box to boutique workouts across the board this is hands down the best workout you will ever get! It is tough, inspiring, unique and so worth every drop of sweat.

I"ve been working out with Prince (almost stalking him) since 2008. From NYSC to outdoor bootcamps to his traveling classes to his own gym, & now to his zoom classes. I moved away from NY in 2016 & have attempted to find a workout family similar to the Trooper family, but have not come close to the greatness I experienced at Trooper. I don't write many reviews, but needed to share how much Trooper Fitness means to me. I have been a member of Trooper since the beginning, now going on 9 years, and it is one of the things I value most in my life.

To get the workout review out of the way--yes, they are AMAZING! I am challenged in every class, and it only makes me want to come back for more. The coaches do a great job of programming creative workouts and are super encouraging and positive. They very approachable, will work with you on your goals, and push you to your best in every class. Even after years of going to classes, I continue to see myself growing and improving.

However, even more important than the workouts is the Trooper mentality and community itself. There are so many gyms and boutique fitness studios in the City, finding a place to just workout is easy. Trooper Fitness offers something unique in the diverse and tight-knit, but welcoming, community it has built. From encouraging each other in classes, to hanging out in the lobby afterwards, to getting together outside the gym, Trooper really is a second family to me and I have made my closest friendships in NY from people I have met at Trooper.

Their motto "All We Know is Go" really sums up their mentality. Even in the adversity of the pandemic, the founders and coaches were on the ball in moving over to virtual workouts, and have done a great job keeping the same sense of community. Trooper has been a lifeline during this time, and the pandemic has only highlighted to me how important they are.

Oh Trooper how I love you. The coaches at trooper are open and willing to push and see the strength in anyone if you will put in the work. Some of us have strength goals, some of us have endurance goals, but we all come here to work hard. No other boutique gym in nyc has the diversity of Trooper.

Trooper’s group fitness classes are a class version of personal training. Trainers are militant about checking and correcting our form. It’s the smartest way to push yourself safely. You can learn to do things you never imagined: climb a rope, do a pistol squat, hit a personal record in weight lifting. This is the gym to do it in.
