Tru yoga has become my favorite yoga studio fairly quickly. I have quickly improved my yoga practice within the first month of being here. I am stretching better, toning my body better, and fixing my stance. Shout out to Vanessa and Kass for their stewardship in bringing this community!

TRU is the most welcoming, inclusive space I've ever been in! The instructors genuinely care and love yoga so much that they want YOU to love it too! They will listen and support you in any way they can. There are a variety of classes to pick from and all skill-levels.
I'll admit - I'm biased - as I earned my 200-HR yoga teacher training here - and I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent with the fantastic instructors as well as with my fellow yogis. This is certainly my spiritual home - as it is shared with fellow, like-minded people who all seek harmony, peace with all humans.
As a Deaf/Hard of hearing person, TRU really ensured that I learned about yoga by providing ASL interpreters and other accommodations along my journey. And on Saturdays, they offer ASL-interpreted classes with Milo (who is an amazing and intuitive instructor). PLEASE give TRU a try. There's plenty of parking in the back of the building as well as street parking.

Tru Yoga is consistently very high quality and welcoming in all that it offers. The atmosphere and facility are terrific! I'm grateful to Tru for its range of classes, all well taught, that have shown me the value of expanding my practice to include multiple styles, and encouraged me to explore the deep benefit of slowing down and pushing less. Don't mistake me - the classes are still challenging! Hilary

Tru Yoga has changed me into a yogi! They truly make you feel welcomed and part of the Tru family. I love the way the classes make me feel and have a new Saturday routine with Caryβs 9 am flow. I love the community aspect and plant spiritual vibes within the studio. I truly recommend Tru to all of my friends and have brought a few so far. Try it out, you will not be disappointed!

Tru Yoga is a special place that welcomes everyone and is truly a place that teaches yoga from the heart. I always feel at home when I practice here and there is so much good energy at this studio. I recommend Tru to people who are brand new to yoga and to those who have practiced for years. There is something for everyone here.

Tru has this warm, light, beautiful energy that envelopes me each time I walk through the doors. After moving here in the winter of 2023 I was searching for a new yoga home, trying studio after studio, and found belonging and connection at Tru. I love that they honor traditional Sanskrit and guide us in more than simply the breath and movement with their yogic teachings. They also make the newest practitioner feel welcome and capable here. I appreciate so much the instruction for proper muscle engagement and options for modifications during practice. Above all else, for me, yoga is spiritual and the space is sacred. Under this new ownership, Kass and Vanessa honor this space and allow everyone to feel seen, safe, heard and truly in community. So very grateful for Tru.

Tru is a truly amazing studio. Through each steward it has maintained integrity of spirit and the commitment to standing with the Rochester LGTBQIA+ and BIPOC communities. The staff truly cares about creating a safe and brave space and the yoga itself is outstanding.

I've experienced just about every iteration of Tru Yoga, and honestly, this is the best one yet Vanessa and Kass are wonderful people who genuinely love what they do. They have a great social media presence, and the website is easy to navigate. No matter your yoga level, there's something for everyone--and if you're not sure, just shoot them an email or DM.
They offer a nice series of classes and special events, even on Thanksgiving morning, Christmas Day morning, and New Year's Day morning. The studio has a serene, relaxed atmosphere, and whoever is at the desk always seems genuinely happy to see you.
I'm really enjoying coming here for classes and trying new things. If you're unsure about yoga, don't be--it's a safe, welcoming space. They offer a variety of classes, including vinyasa, restorative, yin, and other special classes.
Everyone is welcome here. Parking is available on the street, with a few spaces in the back.

In fall 2024 Tru had an ownership change, and the new co-owners love Tru, honor its legacy, and have enhanced it. The new website is accurate and up to date, there are lots of series and their details are current, and it seems there'll be more to come over time. The schedule has more offerings, including a few 90-minute classes and the Friday evening happiest hour classes that a former iteration of Tru featured. Even the colors on the walls in the revamped space are a nod to the previous location.
Tru remains a wonderful studio, with a mix of vinyasa, gentle, and yin classes, plus some donation-based classes whose focus includes affirming BIPOC, LGBT, and recovery communities. There is at least one weekly class that is ASL-interpreted (and always has been). This is a studio for all.
Check out the updated Tru if it's been a while or if you've never been. Whether new to yoga, intermediate, or just curious, there's a spot for you. Parking on South Ave and the side streets nearby is ample. Try to arrive a few minutes before class starts to settle, especially if you're brand new to the space!

I've been a member of Tru on and off since 2015. I have also have had the honor of visiting most yoga studios here in Rochester. For some reason Tru keeps drawing me back. It could be the fantastic technical queuing or the warm welcoming environment that allows me to feel safe to explore myself. Or just the overall friendly environment. But regardless, I highly recommend that if you are new to yoga, or a seasoned yogi, that Tru is your best option in Rochester to have a true authentic yoga experience!

Since moving to Rochester, Tru Yoga has offered a consistent space of calm, acceptance, and mindfulness. I have been in and out of yoga practice for going on ten years. Tru has always felt like a safe and comforting place to return to, even after long hiatuses, and I am so grateful for its existence. Would absolutely recommend for anyone (of any experience level) interested in yoga, meditation, self-reflection, or simply looking for a community of loving, caring people in Rochester.

I was looking to get back in to yoga while experiencing some personal struggles and trying to reconnect with my body so I walked into Tru about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was immediately welcomed and made to feel at home. I have previously practiced a lot of yoga, in Rochester, but stepped away after having a baby. I yearned for that community-belonging feeling again that only a good yoga studio can provide. I jumped in with both feet my first week, truly taking advantage of that two week new unlimited membership and by day three, people (owners and teachers especially) knew my name and made me feel seen when walking in the door - exactly what I was looking for and needed. There are a variety of classes and teachers each with a unique style that allow you to sit back or push hard - what ever you need in the moment. They encourage you to be you, no matter what that means, and to get what you need. If you are looking to take your practice to the next level, I strongly recommend taking classes from Vanessa. In just this short time, Tru had helped me to realize that I am strong, I'm stronger than I think, and to trust myself and my body. I feel heard heard, seen, and needed at Tru yoga and that helps me to show up for myself, and for other people. I couldn't recommend them more and I look forward to continuing to be a part of the community at Tru π©·

Tru yoga is hands down my favorite yoga studio. Their teachers are approachable, kind, and personable and they offer a variety of classes that range from restorative to high energy vinyasa. I especially love that many teachers at Tru encourage questions, as this has greatly helped me grow my yoga practice and my sense of community. Highly recommend Tru!!!

Awful business. They say they are a safe and all inclusive space, but apparently only if your political views a line with theirs. Itβs unfortunate to have a business like this in our community. Such hypocrites.
After the election they sent out a letter assuming everyone was grieving stating they were an inclusive safe place. When it was explained that not everyone was grieving due to the results they moved forward with deleting people from their system stating this studio was not a place for them.

First time trying Yoga in a class setting. It was very nice. Iβm very shy and i was able to sneak in the back without bringing attention to myself. My body isnβt as flexible anymore but with this class i feel different. More at peace with myself(I know that sounds very clichΓ©) but i feel ready to go to sleep and wake refreshed
Thank you for holding the free class so i could get a feel about the place!! π

I've been here before and this place now is even better. There seems to be more of a diversity of classes, with a wider variety of times to fit my schedule. My only regret is the session that I took is only available on Wednesday and that's right when I have to go in for my shift on the job. It was great to see old staff and friends there. The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because I had some logistic trouble signing in. And also there's no phone number to get in contact. They're really ought to be a phone number. Other than that it's a great place and I recommend it.

*edited* after this review they did finally take my card off autopay, make sure you confirm and see the screen with them that it says "do not renew" on your account.*
Although I was really excited this studio offers ASL interpretation every week and queer/trans yoga I'm having a nightmare experience trying to cancel a student membership. The platform they use tula doesn't have a way to manage your account and cancel and I even showed up in person requests to cancel the auto renewing in person and they said they took care of it (they didn't) it's still charging me. I've sent emails no response. I've even written in snail mail requesting cancel. I finally had to do charge back and report the fraud. I still haven't been able to get a hold of anybody. I don't even live there anymore. I guess the only way I'll be able to get them to stop charging me is to pay off my card and close my account altogetherπ€·πΌββοΈπ€¦πΌββοΈ beware. Don't sign up for a membership.

TRU has been like a second home to me over the last four years. If you are looking for a new yoga studio to join in Rochester- TRU is the go-to place for yoga and community. The teachers and students are diverse and welcoming. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, I have thoroughly enjoyed and been grateful for their online Zoom classes- they have truly helped keep my mind and body well during these uncertain times.
