Great gym and amazing coaching team. I am going there for over 2 years now. I was never big into workouts but they are great in getting me to just do it. The personalized training works very well for me and has progressed with me getting more used to strength- training. And while it is always challenging, they never over-do it. Upfit definitely got me into a work-out routine and in shape - which is something I was not able to do on my own.

Started UpFit about a month ago and I’m already hooked! I absolutely love the format — small group personal training, but everyone is doing their entirely own workout with no fighting for space or equipment. Brian, who runs the Brooklyn gym, is awesome and very attentive. I’ve already progressed more than I would have on my own and just signed up for another package :)

Great community and awesome coaches. I used to feel intimidated and lost when I was on my own starting my fitness journey, but UpFit made me look forward to training regularly. If you are in the same boat, I cannot recommend this place enough. Small group training is a great alternative to personal training which costs a lot more. I’m so glad to have this option. Amazing gym with fantastic uplifting coaches and a super welcoming community. I’m often intimidated when joining a new gym because I don’t always know my way around the equipment, etc, but I’ve felt nothing but supported and celebrated in my fitness journey here. The coaches check in with me regularly to keep me on track even when I’m outside of the gym, and I’m confident I’ll hit my goals here. Brian and Wes in particular have been terrific. UPFIT academy provides excellent service for my training goals. I am currently 3 month in with a 2x/week schedule and workout approximately 4x/week and recently signed on for an additional 6 months twice a week sessions.

I initially started with endurance and conditioning training for the first 2 months and have transitioned to strength hypertrophy circuits tailored by Paul Park and David Zheng. Challenging, but not impossible, the trainers provide direct feedback for improving form and gradually increasing volume over the week so you are always making progress with your goals each session regardless of the frequency. The coaches are available outside of sessions to provide advice, information, and planning for weight gain/loss, muscle growth, conditioning, etc. for both experienced gym goers/new years resolutioners/beginners.

Depending on your motivation levels and desire to improve you can sign on for more frequent sessions or have a lighter schedule for independent training outside of UPFIT, which is what I opted for. All in all a great service to subscribed to if just getting into or wanting to learn how to further augment your training routines.

I’ve been training at UpFit with Brian for just over six months now, and it’s easily one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself.

I’ve worked with personal trainers in the past with mixed success, but UpFit just gets it right. This is the most consistent progress I’ve ever seen, and I’m excited to see where the next six months take me. Working out used to feel like a chore, but now it’s such an ingrained part of my routine that I can’t imagine life without it.

Brian has been an incredible coach—our sessions are a true dialogue, with regular check-ins to adjust goals, celebrate milestones, and make sure I’m always moving forward. If you’re on the fence about joining, just do it. Highly recommend!

I love UpFit! The coaches create personalized programs based on your fitness assessment and give individual attention in each session so you’re always challenged to reach new fitness goals. Members are all levels where a novice can be on their own program working out alongside a lifetime gym goer on their own journey. Really enjoying my training so far. Working in the city and living in Brooklyn makes it hard to find a place consistently but UpFit having multiple locations makes it easier to state consistent. Space is clean and really spacious. Coaches are really attuned to my needs and goals. The app really helps put the data in to perspective what I can do in a session. Between the state of the art equipment and customer service, I highly recommend checking out UpFit!

Started training with UpFit in July 24 and come to the Brooklyn location the most often because it’s close to home, and I’ve been having such great experiences so far with not only the coaches but also the members. I was drawn to UpFit because of their personalized approach to programming and nutrition coaching based on each member’s different goals. The coaches are all super knowledgeable and approachable, always available to answer any questions. They also are constantly learning about the latest research and academics on Kinesiology and nutrition. I signed up for the semi-private program where I’m training with up to 3 other members each class. The coach is present and focused during the session to help with setup, form, and lots of words of encouragement. The sense of community is also prominent, they organize events and challenges to engage and motivate members. The culture here is extremely inclusive so makes every feel comfortable. I plan to train with them long term and definitely would recommend to anyone wants to get into fitness.

This review is truly long overdue. I’ve been a member of Upfit since 2022. I travel from the Upper East Side every week to work out with Brian Santanelli at Upfit Brooklyn. The commute is 1 hour and 15 minutes each way. That should say it all. Brian cares so much and has always been so considerate to program my workouts based on how I feel everyday. I always feel so good coming here because I feel supported and never afraid that I’ll hurt myself whenever I’m under his supervision. Whenever there are hard workouts he’s always there to make me feel confident. He is constantly taking courses to improve his knowledge and going above and beyond for his clients. Unlike other trainers who are more about reps, he cares about quality over quantity (form) and has even offered to work with my physical therapist to make sure that I can get an effective workout safely. I love Upfit because it feels like home where I have a community to help me meet my strength and fitness needs at all times.

Without Upfit, I can truly say that I would not have been able to do very difficult things outside of the gym mentally. It is the secret sauce to living strong and doing hard things in life. Thank you so much, Upfit!!

Absolutely love UpFit. It’s honestly the best part of my day. The trainers are amazing, they pay attention to detail, the classes are really small - no more than 4 people, so I don’t feel like I’m slipping thru the cracks of a bigger group fitness class. I appreciate how encouraging they are, and they have really helped me make big strides in only 5 months. The workouts the coaches create are catered to personal goals I want to achieve. Previous Yoyo dieter who didn't have the faintest idea about fitness. Wes is the reason I will never look back at my old life! He convinced me to join this gym a year ago and I have never looked back. This place is perfect for beginners, people who have injuries, and/or need guidance on form and technique. If you can commit, this place is where you will test your limits and begin to see your body shape and change. I have so many, "oh wow, I wasn't able to do this workout a month ago" moments. If you are someone--like me-- who wants to be fit but has never really developed a solid fitness habit, but wants to, this is the place to go. After the pandemic and a death in the family that knocked me off my feet, I was really out of shape. I want to be healthy and fit and Upfit has saved me. The support and training is unlike anything I have ever experienced. It's like having a personal trainer but way more fun as others are training along side you. Each "athlete" get a custom training routine but we all work out together in a small group. The schedule is flexible, so if your schedule changes each week you don't have to miss a workout. Wes trains you AND teachers you so you can eventually be able to do it on your own. The goal is to develop a fitness routine that can take you through years to come. I highly recommend.

I’m here more for general fitness reasons to take better care of myself but the trainers here are able to work individually with you based on what your personal goals are. It’s so great to have an UpFit location in Gowanus and Boerum Hill! The space is well-equipped with cool extras (including saunas and a body composition scanner).

Of course, like any UpFit location, the best part is the people and the training. Wes and team are fantastic at making you feel comfortable and confident while pushing you to achieve your goals. They also love teaching you about the “why” behind what you’re doing (and with their approach, there’s always a “why” behind your customized routine). Your fellow UpFit members are there to cheer you on and hype you up.

When I joined just over two years ago, it was meant to be short-term - I had never been a gym person and I had no idea what I was doing. Two years later, these classes are the highlight of my week!

Clean facility with lots of equipment and not over crowded. Coaching is attentive with lots of small corrections to help you get the most out of your workouts. There is a CitiBike rack out front which is helpful since the gym is a bit of a walk from the subway.
Overall, a great training option in the Boerum Hill and Gowanus area - perfect if you don't want to have to go Downtown for high-quality training.
