Absolutely obsessed with this studio. I've tried both Chandler and Tara's classes and loved their uplifting energy and ability to be so present in the room. The workout is challenging and different every time you go, so it doesn't get boring. Truly the best part of my workout-class cycle is going to Vaura!

Spotted this place on social media and was so excited to give it a try. They promote a fun but challenging workout with dim lights and amazing music - exactly what I was looking for. The studio is kind of hidden, it’s unfortunate the walk way is full of homeless people as you enter. I was confused my first time of where to go once you open the door as the space is downstairs with no signage directing you. The first time I went, I asked for where to go, the front desk did not bother to stand up or give a care it was my first time there. The bathrooms are disgusting. Looks like they haven’t been cleaned in a year. Showers are even worse. The class itself I enjoyed, Tara is an amazing instructor. Keeps the class fun and really challenges you. For being located on the upper east side m, I expected more out of the cleanliness of the space. The second class I took , the instructor was also very good. Cleanliness in a fitness studio if very important to me and unfortunately, I wont be going back. Really hope they get a cleaning person in there and make it a more elevated experience I’m sure most are expecting. If you don’t care about the cleanliness, great workout!

This class would only be challenging if you are a senior citizen. Otherwise, it's not worth your time or money. The instructors do not demonstrate, so it is not even beginner friendly. One of the classes I took was with Grace, who is easily the worst pilates instructor in all of NYC. Not sure who gave that girl a certification but it needs to be revoked. I'm semi-experienced with pilates, so was disappointed this was not a challenging workout. I did not break a sweat. It was basically a 50 minute stretch session with no form correction. Maybe I will come back when I am a senior citizen so I can break a sweat!

Love Vaura!! Just wish they didn’t blast fragrance upon entering (especially now that it’s becoming so known how bad it is for you)!

Did not let me into the class when I was 5min late with most of the delay being caused by the fact that the door to the building was locked and I couldn’t get in (5min is their cut off)

Awful experience. If you book through classpass they do treat you like just another number. They haven’t taken the responsibility to partner correctly with ClassPass to say you absolutely need grip socks or they will force you to buy them for $20+ so when you show up, they put the onus on YOU even though they haven’t given the proper instructions to ClassPass or followed through with checking if customers through ClassPass have the correct info they need. They will side with you and speak anti ClassPass instead of calling them as their partner and fixing this stuff! They confirmed this isn’t the first time they’ve experienced this situation. So they revel in making money off this glitch. They’re words: oh it’s on our website that you have to have grip socks. Why would anyone booking through ClassPass go to the website? And : you can take this up with ClassPass (aka not take the class but go back and take it up with ClassPass). All over New York most Pilates classes that use the exact Allegro machine they do will say you can use grip socks or do the class barefoot, but charging $20 for socks (not any known brand, just their own white labeled unbranded socks) is just money making scheme for them considering they don’t really invest in a quality sound system. The entire class, 1) you can’t hear a word of what the instructor is saying over the music, 2) the instructor doesn’t even try to help you if you’re having trouble understanding (in a 50% full class) 3) after the class minimizes their issue with sound and makes it all about ‘getting used to the lights and machines’ as if this is your first time doing Pilates.

I started pilates at Vaura a few months ago and I am officially hooked! Not only does it provide me with my “me” time, it has helped me with my pain management as a life long back sufferer with three spinal fusions and a few other surgeries including knee and shoulder. Moving is the best therapy - I was met with so much warmth. Tara, Grace, Ashley, Caroline each bring their own level of expertise….So happy to have this gem in my neighborhood!

I have taken Pilates classes for 15 years in NYC & the surrounding area & I can say that Vaura is truly the best Pilates studio in NYC! It’s a good mix of classical & contemporary Pilates, strength training, & HIIT, which is extremely rare to find anywhere!

I LOVE all of the instructors, & there are finally regularly scheduled weekly jumpboard classes, also which are rare to find!

If you love Pilates, or want to try it for the 1st time, you must come to Vaura!! :)

Nice studio and the class is quite high energy compared to usual Pilates, but there are so many people in class that the instructor won’t really have much time to help you with your form

I love VAURA! The studio has a good vibe and friendly staff from the front desk to the instructor. Sheryll, my go-to instructor, provided expert guidance on alignment and proprioception. Each class is uniquely challenging and provides an effective workout that engages my muscles - the best I've experienced thus far.

I had a great experience at Vaura with Sheryll. As someone who has never done Pilates before but has an athletic background, I was a bit nervous about trying something new. However, I’m glad I decided to. The workout was challenging but in a constructive way, providing a good balance of pushing your limits and emphasizing quality movement. I highly recommend Vaura, take Sheryll’s class!

I had my very first experience with reformer Pilates at Vaura, and it was wonderful! Although the format can be intimidating to a newcomer, Vaura's staff were all very kind and accommodating. Throughout the session, the instructor provided very clear instructions on how to use all of the equipment, and pointers for proper technique and dialing movement difficulty up/down to avoid injuries. The music was energetic and motivating without being overbearing. Thank you for this wonderful introduction to Pilates! I've been recommending Vaura to all of my friends and colleagues in the area since my session.

Great new studio on the UES that incorporates Pilates moves on a reformer. They have plenty of machines in studio and the mirrors on the walls and ceiling help you to correct your form while moving through various positions. They also have a jumpboards class which is a fun variation involving more cardio based exercises. The instructors all have different teaching styles so it may take a bit to find your faves. The studio is clean and has lots of lockers to stash your stuff as well as cubbies to store your shoes. The only issue is the classes are not staggered much so you are usually waiting to get your stuff after class as the next class is still putting their things away and getting themselves ready.

I was able to try out Vaura upper east side when I used class pass once and I was obsessed. I saw the location on TikTok and was wanting to try it out for months and finally got to! I went to a Saturday morning total class with coach Tara and it was my favorite pilates inspired workout. The aesthetic was soo cute, i was able to reserve the reformer I used in the room and it was great playlist and vibes! I want to keep going but I live a bit far so I can only go sometimes on special occasions.

Instructor Chandler was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Won’t be booking again. Music is too loud to hear instructions and instructor will rudely snap at you. Too many reformers and so she didn’t adjust anyone’s form despite many people doing it wrongly. Instructor should learn how to speak to people.

This location is nice, I love aesthetics and I like the reformer. I’m giving this 3 stars solely because you cannot take classes here if you are new to Pilates. The instructors do not help you with your form or provide you with any real guidance on techniques or posture in between moves. I see so many people who need assistance and none is provided. The instructors just walk past you. If the instructors were more hands on or beginner class was offered it would a 10/10.

The studio is really nice, clean and brand new. The instructors and staff are nice.

The machines are not broken in and will hurt your knees if you are doing a kneeling plank. Don’t be fooled by the reformers - this is not a traditional Pilates class. If you are expecting that or Lagree, go somewhere else.

I love classes at Vaura! They’re the perfect combination of strength training and pilates. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Shoutout to Tara! Her energy is unmatched :) I leave every class feeling stronger, leaner, and empowered!
The location is absolutely beautiful. The studio itself is super spacious and I love the lighting. Even locker area is stunning! I especially appreciate all of the small details, like the vanities equipped with extra hair ties, blow dryers, feminine hygiene products etc - these are the little things that make a big difference.
Highly recommend!!!

I discovered this place and have now regularly incorporate it into my weekly routine.

It’s located near the train, like it’s on the corner, which I love.

The bathroom and 3 showers are all super clean. They have a cubby area for your things that’s monitored 100% of the time by the front desk. They have a bunch of hair products and blow dryers 💯

The class allows for roughly 20 people/ machines.

Went to a Total class with Heather, and it was honestly the worst "pilates" class I have been to. I'm experienced with pilates, lagree, etc., and this was not like any pilates or pilates-style class I've been to, in a bad way.

To start, the class was programmed horribly. The spring loads were weird on every exercise, either providing way too much resistance to prevent anyone from getting the benefit of the exercise, or way too little, making the exercise borderline dangerous from the moving carriage. The exercises were strange and not pilates at all, and the instructor was giving frequent breaks in between exercises--there were no smooth transitions or opportunities to stay in the work for any amount of time. We also did a lot of random arm exercises with dumbbells, that didn't really belong in pilates at all.

The instructor, Heather, had a great playlist. But, she didn't provide any cues for the actual exercises, didn't provide modifications, didn't even really describe what we were supposed to be doing on the machine. She would also get weirdly passive aggressive and angry if we didn't all jump into whatever exercise she said; which was usually because she hadn't actually said what exercise we were supposed to be doing (or if she did, no one could hear her in a room of like 25+ reformers and music blasting.) She was much more into dancing and yelling than she was providing instruction. I was genuinely worried that someone was going to hurt themselves because of how badly the class was programmed.

Finally, she ended the class with like high knees and burpees, which was extremely high intensity without any real warm up, considering that the rest of the class had been more break than work. When someone in front of me said they weren't able to jump for the burpees, she still didn't give a modification. Also, we're all in socks...jumping and doing burpees on a concrete floor may not be accessible without proper shoes for some people, and certainly isn't what I'm expecting when going into a pilates class.

The room was huge and there are mirrors everywhere, which was fine, but the reformers also seemed super cheap and rickety. As far as pilates classes go, this was by far the worst I've ever been to. NYC has such a great pilates scene, definitely skip this place. Hopefully they'll fix the programming and provide better instruction in the future, but I definitely won't be going back.
