If you’re someone with 9-5 job, it’s almost impossible to find a spot here to work out outside of working hours. Unless you’re extremely patient, of course. For example, you might have to wait around 30 minutes just to use a bench press.

Other than that, if you go with a guest, the manager at the Latham location—and I believe her son (someone with the same last name listed as the Retention Coordinator)—will do everything in their power to make your time there as unpleasant as possible. Constantly nagging that “your friend can’t be here,” “you can’t go there,” and so on.

There’s a woman who acts like she owns the place. If, by any chance, the actual owner of this gym reads this comment, firing that woman would be a gain for you—because I and seven of my friends stopped going to that gym just because of her.

I reported that I canceled my membership and voiced my complaint, and guess who read my complaint? Of course, the same manager lady herself—she replied to me directly and then passed the issue off to her son. Now I keep getting emails from her son, claiming I owe money to a gym I canceled and haven’t even visited.

And now they’re threatening to send me to collections. I never gave them my Social Security Number, so I wonder how they plan to do that.

A collection agency just called me and said I owe about $2,000. For a gym I went to for 1 month (even though I gave a cancellation order) with a monthly fee of $50, I supposedly owe $2,000. I signed up 5 months ago, went 5–6 times, and canceled my membership in the 3rd week. They claim I have a 3-year debt.Forget 40 months — if you miss even one day’s payment, they won’t let you into the gym, but apparently I have a 40-month debt. Good thing I gave all my information incorrectly, otherwise I’d have to deal with this mess too.

Update!! ***Nice selection of equipment but there needs to be people cleaning throughout the whole day, I never see anyone cleaning and it is too high trafficked to not have people! The lockers and floors get really dirty throughout the day throughout the facility. Pools of water in the locker room and trash or empty hand sanitizer dispensers.. and maint. On equipment throughout needs to take place.. when it comes to cleanliness at a gym this should be number one priority! There’s quite a few people that work here but I personally don’t see anyone doing anything proactive to upkeep the facility. Also could use later hours on the weekend 7 is early.. also don’t sign the contract cause they say it’s no contract then have you sign a contract then try to charge you to leave..

I love Vent Latham and drive from Albany to workout here. Spacious, pristine. Kim, the manager goes above and beyond to make it a serious space. Ellie opens up Monday thru Friday and is excellent, welcoming and warm. Can't think of any place I would rather begin my morning at then Vent Latham.

I was happy when I joined Vent, until I moved away to a different city and needed to cancel my membership because I could no longer make the trip to the gym. I was told I needed to pay $79 as a cancellation fee. Mind you, I signed up at the gym in person and they didn’t mention any cancellation fees upon signing up. I spoke to the branch manager when I signed up and asked all fees that needed to be paid or come with my subscription and they didn’t mention a cancellation fee. I sent emails explaining to them that I wasn’t informed and they said “sorry but the $79 is the cheapest way to cancel else your bills are going to continue increasing due to the yearly contract”
This is very unfair, I could have refused to pay and got you guys a bad debt but I decided to pay, and leave a review for you guys to read and be transparent when people sign up for your services.
I am very disappointed.

The fan still isn’t fixed upstairs by the elevator in Latham. Most of the lockers in the ladies room , the handles don’t work properly. Difficulties trying to get the handle to turn once the door is shut. . This is the third time I mentioned this. So instead they put numbers on the lockers. But I still give the gym a great rating. I had a membership at Vent Fitness that allowed me to bring a guest on weekends, but my experience was beyond disappointing. One of the front desk employees was extremely rude, insisting that I had to pay $10 for my guest despite my membership including guest access. When I politely asked her to show me where this was stated in my contract, she refused and instead threatened to call the police if we walked in! Imagine paying for a service and being treated with such hostility—completely unacceptable.

Beyond the poor customer service, the facilities are subpar:
• The pool is overcrowded and often murky—you can’t even see through the water. They claim you get a lane, but in reality, you’re often forced to share with multiple people, making it chaotic. I even got hit once due to the crowding! On top of that, half the pool is constantly closed for classes, leaving only one lane for 20+ people.
• The steam room and sauna are filthy. People walk in wearing sweaty clothes and sneakers, and it’s clear that these areas are never properly cleaned.
• The hot tub and cold plunge are broken most of the time.
• The showers are disgusting—you’ll find clumps of hair everywhere, and they never restock soap, so bring your own.

I never used the gym itself, so I can’t speak to that, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t trust their cleanliness or management in any area.

I canceled my membership and couldn’t be happier. The lack of professionalism, respect, and basic customer service is shocking. If you’re looking for a good gym, go to Metabolic. If you want a clean, well-managed pool, go to the YMCA. You’ll get much better service and a more professional environment.

Save yourself the stress—do not waste your time or money at Vent Fitness.

Excellent gym, spacious with lots of amenities. The E3 fitness rooms are great for classes and privacy. The pool is nice and they have a hotub, dry & wet suana. The steam room is wild. Overall, I think this is a great gym for beginners or experts. There is a lot of versatility in what you can do there. It's also low-key, and enough room to work in groups, or solo, if you prefer.

I recently visited Vent Fitness in Latham, and I was really disappointed with the state of the facility. Compared to the Guilderland location, which is always clean and well-maintained, this place was a mess.

The locker room smelled awful, like a mix of mildew and sweat, which made it hard to feel comfortable. On top of that, there were dirty clothes scattered on the floor near the showers and hanging around the locker area—completely unacceptable for a gym of this caliber. It’s clear that cleanliness and upkeep are not a priority here.

Always love here . I heard there was an incident in man’s locker room on 12/11/24 . One young adult ( he is about 24) was video taping in locker room and one older adult told him he shouldn’t do it … I guess it went to ugly situation. What I believe we all know we should respect for individual rights but how about others …. We should respect the public mannerisms. It is for everyone . Don’t you think the management of vent, kindly educate people ( the members).. what should they behave at club …..Like “ not allow the video taping in locker room” “ no outside footwear in sauna “ “ no speaker phone ( either music or talking)in public areas “ … it is very simple way to the members know what shouldn’t do … we all go vent to exercise and relieve our stress ….

The gym facility is in need of significant cleanliness improvements, particularly in the locker areas, which are quite messy. The pool also has hair and debris, making it uninviting. Disclaimer: This review pertains specifically to the Niskayuna location, but I want to caution prospective customers that the unwelcoming and uncomfortable environment created by their staff remains consistent across all of their locations.

It is genuinely very upsetting for me to be writing this review as I have gone to the Niskayuna location 4/5 times per week the past 2 years. I have liked this location so much, that I drive the 30 minutes from my home in Clifton Park to come here.

I do not look like the stereotypical gym goer as I am a midsize woman, but I have fallen in love with strength training and bettering myself through working out. In fact, going to VENT not only became the place where I workout, but also socialize as I have made some friends in the 2 years I have been going here.

When you have gym friends, your conversations revolve mostly around workouts, supplements, form, etc. I love that I have this since there is always something to learn from the people around you/ask someone to spot you. I usually meet up with one of my said gym friends so we can workout together.

Yesterday when I left the gym with my friend, “Teresa, the manager” pulled us both aside and accused her of training me. Teresa not only threatened to revoke our memberships, but also how we are taking income away from their trainers who make a living working in their gym. Her evidence is that she was “watching us on the cameras” and that my friend standing next to me and watching as I perform a set, encouraging me to do more reps/weight is “a violation of their policy”. Teresa continued to make generalizations that my friend must be training me since my body does not look exactly like hers. To quote Teresa said to me, “you look a lot different than her to just be working out together”.

Maybe Teresa should be directing her eyes and cameras elsewhere- perhaps on the constant stream of underage children who are allowed to roam this gym unsupervised, especially the middle school-aged boys who record people illegally, or even the people who break other rules such as littering the floor with gym bags, working out in improper attire, or hanging on machines for 60+ minutes during super high traffic times.

Teresa made my friend and I feel deeply humiliated- especially when she suggested that my friend must be training me since we look “entirely different” and that if I needed a trainer, that I could pay to use one of the ones that they have on staff. VENT advertises to offer a “welcoming fitness environment for everyone” when in actuality the supposed leaders of their brand target people who look “different”.

It's pretty difficult to ReinVENT yourself in a community that fosters negativity, discrimination based on body type, and a lack of support. Thank you for making me feel extremely targeted and ostracized, not just in one of my favorite places, but also in my own body and the supportive community I've built here. There are plenty of other gyms where fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment is the norm, and people of all shapes and sizes are valued. I urge anyone considering a membership at any VENT location to reconsider.

The Bad:

Vent has turned into a TikTok/Instagram video shooting studio, where multiple people with phone tripods will use pieces of exercise equipment for nearly an hour, just so they can record 1 set of reps for social media. Taking it one step further, video recording and photography in the locker room and sauna is common; this is an invasion of privacy.

If you go any time other than early morning, the gym is inundated with people sitting idly on equipment playing with their phones. It's not uncommon for someone to do this for 30+ minutes.

The sauna, while just deep-cleaned, is typically very dirty. This is mostly because they allow people to wear street shoes in the sauna, which tracks in grime and bacteria (great way to get Staph). While hard to control, they should at least attempt to keep street shoes out of the sauna like other reputable facilities ( e.g. YMCA).

The Good:

Staff is generally friendly, they have loads of equipment, and the shake bar is a nice touch.

I wish I could recommend Vent. It has a lot of potential, but until they get a better hand on cleanliness (preventative) and patron behavior, I would seek other options.

I have been a customer for 3 years and this gym has declined since I started going there. It is dirty with dried sweat and spit on the equipment.
The new staff have been extremely rude. Even if you ask for tanning or massage that you pay for you get attitude. Just this week I saw a charge on my account that I didn't authorize. Because they didnt resolve the issue once I noticed it, I asked them to cancel my membership. I was then told I have to pay the cancellation fee regardless even though the contract said month-to-month customers do not pay it.
The manager was supposed to call but never did. Just ended up disabling my account. Very good example of customer service 😔 #StayAway

They definitely need more benches at the dumbbell area. The current amount is not enough. They do a good job fixing broken machines or ripped benches or seats. Please be aware you'll be paying different types of fees. I've never experienced this before but there is an enrollment fee and membership fee. That comes to about $100. No one explained this to me at the center and no one gave me a tour of the place so I know what to expect. I'm pregnant and joined mostly for the pool. Unfortunately, there's too much chlorine in the water and I ended up having an allergic reaction so I can't use the pool. Overall, I feel robbed and disappointed. I hope this review helps others make better choices.I wouldn't recommend Vent Fitness as an ethical business.

This gym is so bright and open! It’s got all different types of weights and strength training equipment. They also have an upper floor with a ton of cardio equipment. The massage chairs are a great option and the tanning bed. I have yet to try the pool but it looks great! It’s usually pretty busy but there’s always equipment available. Much better environment than other gyms.

The older woman at the front desk seems miserable and like she has an attitude. The bathroom is usually dirty even though I am in 10 minutes after they open. I had bad experience with this Gym and I will be suing them for over charging me and few other friends that attend this gym. They have a system that double charges if you are on auto pay. The owners know exactly what auto pay tactic to use to over charge members.

They utilize and outdated system...I know this because I emailed them once I've seen that I was over charged 4 times in the past year...Their response was " We apologies for this inconvenience, the multiple over charges are due to outdated credit card system we utilize".

If anyone knows anything about outdated systems...(they are very vulnerable to hackers)....I just hope my information and other members info is not leaked due to this poorly maintained gym....This gym needs to be investigated. And that woman manager in the back needs to be trained on proper customer service.

If anyone has suggestions for a new gym please let me know.

While visiting the area for the Xmas Holidays, I purchased a week pass to the Latham location. The signup was painless; it was only $25 for the week pass. However, the gym and locker room could have been cleaner. I noticed a distinctive amount of trash that had not been cleaned for three days in a row in the shower area as well as the stretching area. By this, I mean the trash was unique to show it was left from the days before...It also lacked room and equipment to stretch properly before your workout. In my opinion, it's not worth it for a short-term workout.

I specifically asked when joining if I was on the month-to-month agreement and they assured me that I was.
When I tried to switch to a gym closer to my home, they informed me that I was locked in to a contract, and would need to request a cancelation electronically.
I have now done this three times over several months, and I am still being charged. I call the phone number on the website, it cuts off immediately, I call the number on Google, it rings and then cuts off.
There are way better gyms in the area that are cheaper, just as clean, and won't lock you into contracts. They'll also pick up the phone when you call them.

Good facility, clean, with ample parking. I'm here mostly for kids'swim training, but I have put in time erratically and found the space great. Good course options, the massage chairs are nice, the pool is well maintained. If you need a good place to pick up and put down heavy things, or practice being chased by wolves or zombies, you won't be disappointed

Do NOT pay for pool and court access membership. It’s never available and they rent it out to others when you’re already paying for it. Vent is corporate greed. You're better off at ABC which is 5 minutes away and is family owned

Vent is always clean and plenty of equipment, not usually much or any wait for what you need. They have a variety of weight equipment on the floor including free weights from 10 to 120 pounds, also cables, at least 8 in one area and more targeted ones in the back. They also have a private room In the back for level e3 members with trx straps and free weights, barbells, etc. Never bored at vent . Smoothies are good aftr workout and they have tanning sauna steam room, a pool, massage beds. Great gym! I owe this place my life really!

Great staff and facility, but would really appreciate it if they got a couple more benches in the locker room, 2 per area isnt enough. Also the latches for the doors dont always line up, would be great if they did so we can lock up. Also, people shouldn't use a big locker to hang on small item. Put it in a small box. Dont be inconsiderate.

Was over charged and was signed up with the wrong membership. Staff did a wonderful job making things right and helping me fix the issue. The gym is very clean and has a lot of variety in equipment. Feels like home away from home.

They charge $25 for a day pass. $35 for a week, and $50 for a month. Complete robbery. Make that make sense. Go to ABC, much better value for your money. Planet Fitness is the worst gym I’ve ever been to and I now hold it above Vent Fitness.

With covid and an injury all going on there was a mixup with our account not only did vent fitness take care of it but they did it in a very friendly, compassionate manner and exceeded my expectations me and my family will continue to give them our business kudos to kim just ask for her perfect person to represent the company!!!

The Latham vent gives you zero opportunity to use the basketball courts, you try and go after work, nope volleyball. You try and go on the weekends, nope grind time basketball. They charge an absurd amount of money for the extras each month that you can’t use most of the time and the hours for the court they posted on the wall are the farthest thing from accurate.

Very clean gym. Excellent selection of equipment, both free weights and cardio machines. There's even a pool. (good luck finding a time where the 3 lanes aren't occupied, though!) Staff is friendly, and I can't complain about the tanning services and stuff that they offer as well.

That being said, I do have a couple complaints, and this gym isn't the most flexible when it comes to your schedule compared to other gyms in the local area. Vent is open 5-11 M-F, and 7a-5pm on weekends. The hours are very limited when compared to something like ABC or Planet Fitness. The price itself is fair enough, with plans starting at $20/month. The tier system they use is a little strange, but I don't need anything above the basic level. There are plenty of dumbbells, benches, squat racks, cable machines, and "Cross-Fit" areas for everyone to use, even at the basic level. That's good stuff. But my schedule doesn't allow me to stay past 6am on weekdays, so I could only get around a 50 minute workout in each morning, making it very rushed. Afternoons at Vent are absolutely PACKED with college gym-bros and every type of person imaginable, so prepare to stand in line to wait for the machine you want if you come in the afternoon!

Anyway, I chose to leave for ABC because the hours there are going back to 24 next week. But basically Vent is still a REALLY good deal when it comes to overall space, and quality of equipment. I would recommend it to anyone who can find time in their schedule to workout from 5am to 11pm!
