I started going to Very Good Gym after not working out for a long time. My main goal was to learn proper form and get back into shape, and I feel like I accomplished that here. I had the chance to work with all of the trainers at some point, and everyone was great!

Best gym in LIC. Travis, Andy and the rest of trainers are amazing. I took the 3-class trial pass and was very satisfied with the dedication and rigor in the 1-1 personal classes, so decided to extend. Would strongly strongly recommend this gym to folks who either don’t have the discipline and/or the proper knowledge to get into physical training! This gym truly lives up to its name :-)

More than just a very good gym. A great group of people who are incredibly knowledgeable and committed to your complete physical wellbeing. One of my favorite things about Very Good Gym is that all of the trainers have their own unique background that they bring to their training- whether it’s Olympic lifting, rock climbing, gymnastics, ballet, soccer, etc. So every time you work out with a different trainer it’s a little different, which keeps it fresh and gives you a more complete fitness. They’ll also meet you where you are energy level on any given day, which as a father of a 1 year old, I appreciate.

Training with Angel has been the highlight of my week for the past ~7 months. My workouts have the perfect balance of learning new movements and pushing my limits on familiar movements. The lessons I learned here better prepared me to hit the ground running when I encountered similar exercises in other fitness classes, and set me in the right direction when training independently. I love that each trainer has a unique background, so I learn how to get an effective workout through a variety of approaches; this diversity is especially handy when I'm on my own with limited or variable equipment. If you're starting your fitness journey or just love to learn, this is the perfect place to kick things off!

I train with Travis and Dai. They are both very knowledgeable, responsible, and attentive. I am a climber and a dancer, and both of them have tailored a routine to help me improve in the areas that I need. I have been with them since last summer and will continue to train with them as long as I am in the area! The gym itself is spacious and fully equipped, too.

Wonderful and knowledgeable trainers!! After years of injuries from sports that made it hard for me to stay active without reinjuring myself, these trainers have finally helped me get over the hump. They are extremely knowledgeable about how to rehab from various injuries (shoulder, knee, ankle, back, etc...). I've also worked with all of the trainers, and I can confidently say that each and every one is uniquely wonderful at helping me build strength. I'm now fitter, slimmer, stronger, and healthier than I've ever been, and I strongly encourage you to work out here!

My husband and I have been doing buddy training at Very Good Gym for a while and have worked with Travis (owner) and Angel. We enjoy working with both trainers as they provide good feedback and programs to work towards our goals. The trainers are also good at correcting our postures and give pointers on how to shift the position if it’s uncomfortable or hurting. They also take time to explain things such as how the muscle works for each strength training positions or how we could practice on our own using our gym equipment in the building. I can definitely feel that I am stronger now than before!

I've been with Very Good Gym for 8-9 months now and would recommend them to anyone looking for personal training. If you want a one-size fits-all approach, look elsewhere. The trainers at VGG will take the time to get to know you, learn about your goals, and tailor a program to help you get there. Scheduling is really flexible and there are different trainers with different skill sets and training styles so there will definitely be someone there that clicks with you. I bought a package when they first opened and gladly re-upped this winter when it was time to renew.

I had no idea how to lift weights a month ago and now I can do so confidently; I’ve been working on handstands for five years and have made more progress in this last month than in all the time before. Travis and Alena have both been my trainers and they are amazing: patient, kind, and strong. Theyll always check in to ensure you’re meeting your goals and they’ll make you laugh while you do it. The packages are amazing value and I look forward to going in every week!

I started going to Very Good Gym in the spring of 2022 when they had recently opened. I was so grateful I was able to find such a great personal training experience in my area and that remains true to this day. Travis made me feel welcome. I have been working with a couple of different personal trainers with different styles and they are all very intuitive, respectful, and understanding of my workout needs. I love coming to this gym and also love that they have yoga classes for me to get back into as the teacher Elizabeth is so lovely. Truly a great asset to the neighborhood!

Great place. The trainers are all excellent, each of them with their own style and focus - which makes it really fun (and difficult!) to alternate between them. I've been splitting Personal Training sessions with my friend and it's been effective, fun and even more affordable than I'd expect in LIC. There's also a bit of a community feel - not too much so you're overwhelmed, but enough that it's nice to talk to people you meet there.

I have always been intimidated by the “weight room” Although I considered myself a gym person for a long time, there was an invisible fence that I never crossed between the cardio equipment and where “the meatheads” would congregate. What worked in my younger years just wasn’t cutting it anymore and I knew I wanted to do more strength training to boost my sense of self. Unfortunately, not having a lot of knowledge around free weights and strength equipment, I felt lost. Finding VGG has truly been a gift! Over the past few months, I have worked 1:1 with the trainers at VGG and they are so incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. Travis, Alena, and Angel all work together to identify my unique strengths and weaknesses and come up with a program that is challenging and progressive. I actually am so much stronger than I ever have been and what’s best, I am lifting heavy but learning the right techniques so am free of pain and/or injury. There is no other place in LIC like VGG and the community they are building to emphasize health and wellness in the neighborhood is top notch!

The Very Good Gym LIC trainers are exactly what I was looking for as a newbie to strength-training and wanting to balance my fitness levels. They are friendly and knowledgeable, striking the ideal balance between coach and cheerleader. The whole team here is top notch and terrific! Great training with experienced and patient trainers who aren't afraid to help push the limits to get you to the next level, using a wide variety of highest quality equipment in a huge space that's conveniently located. I’ve worked out at gyms and with trainers in the past but I’ve never really found one I enjoyed as much as the team/space at Very Good Gym. Travis and all of the trainers are extremely knowledgeable and always provide fun and interesting ways to work out. I always look forward to my workouts. They are a wonderful addition to the LIC neighborhood and I can’t recommend them enough.

I’ve been working with Travis (the owner) for the past few months and I really enjoy the workouts he plans for me. They’re interesting and challenging, and he chats with me while I do the work so that I don’t focus on how challenging the moves are, heh.
