Horrible equipment moldy smell will let you quit unless you drive there in person I’ve been paying for two years. Haven’t been there more than once. LA fitness is 100 times nicer.

The machines are not being updated or well maintained. Out of 4 AMTs, only 1 works. So many pieces of equipment are down. Only 1 or 2 cable channels work. It's really crazy. I'm glad they are staying in business but they need to fix their stuff.

The gym has a lot of equipment but there is no cellphone service for phone calls even with the wifi. If there is an emergency and someone tries to contact you they won't be able to. Huge issue. If it had cell service it would be perfect. I hope they remedy this.

Equipment dirty, bent, broken, RUSTY, things go missing and never turn back up. When the owner gave me a tour he said the indoor soccer field was free for use if teams were not on it. Today when I found the soccer field door locked the front desk person told me the field could only be used with a reservation. You can go to crunch fitness for the same price

Great gym with a lot of really nice equipment and plenty of room to move. Their response to the pandemic has been amazing too. I have been back since they reopened and have been healthy and always feel safe. The increased sanitization is noticed and the layout of the equipment feels distanced safely

Scam artists... Cancelled the membership not once but twice once in person and than again when they called me looking for a payment, told them it was already cancelled, next thing you know they have 100 dollars in a collection agency on my credit report.

Awesome gym friendly staff daycare clean more than just a gym tons to do kid friendly as well which is a plus for me! They have before and after care and also camp for kids. Pretty cool. Just beginning, and they gave 2 complimentary personal training classes.

The independent world gym locations were better. This gym seems huge when u walk in but the actual free weight area is very small and gets cramped even when there is a few people using them. They probably make their money from the soccer fields, tennis courts and pool so they don’t seem like they care much into the weight are. It’s a decent gym.

We just had our son's 5th birthday party here. Vinny and his wife Andrea pulled out all the stops. We were blown away by their attentiveness and enthusiasm. Planning the party with Vinny was a breeze and everything was tailored to our needs. Communication was excellent from weeks before the event to the morning of! No detail was overlooked and the guests were shocked that the delicious food was all made in house. You could tell they spent a lot of time and effort into making it perfect. If you're looking for a kids birthday party venue I encourage you to give them a call and meet with Vinny for a tour, theres many options that fit nearly every kids interests. Thank you to Vinny and his crew for having us and making such a memorable experience for our son!!

So if you like to be treated poorly when you have a problem, this is the place for you. Horrible customer service, or lack there of I should say. I have not used my membership in months because my daughter took a break from training at Parisi speed school. I would work out while she trained. So I figured I would cancel the membership since I was told it was a month to month members ship. Well call and speak to a nice young lady, she says sorry, no you are locked into 12 months or pay a 150 cancellation fee. What.... So she says hold on I will get someone for you. The person Allie answered the phone annoyed. I started to explain my concern and she starts to talk over me stating " listen, you signed a 12 month contract, I have it here." So I said my conversation with the other manager( who I find out later is a salesman) was not the case. So I attempt to ask if we can do something, and she states " this is a legal document, that's it." When I attempt to speak she speaks over me saying she can send me the contract( this by the way was her ever response, about 10 more times through out the rest of our conversation). I attempt to say is there something we can do, she responds about the contract, but ever time it try to speak she gets nastier about it... I said I couldn't believe you talk to people like this, is this what you want me to tell people about this gym, and her response it" I don't care what you tell anyone".... I was like WOW, its the 1980's all over again at the gyms... I start to say that all her competition does month to month and she of course can only say you signed a contract, its a legal document, there nothing you can do... Shame it is a nice enough gym and I would have signed back up when my daughter started training again. Now I will go out of my way to let everyone know the way the treat people. Allie should never be a manager and be allowed to represent a business...

My sons started taking swimming lessons here and they are so happy! Gail is wonderful at making the schedule work and the communication is stellar. We were previously at a different swimming school where the manager was miserable to deal with and Gail is a breathe of fresh air. We also love Miss Lauren! The boys have come so far in such a short time under her instruction. Thank you!!

Used to be a decent gym when they had real gym equipment and good trainers. No not so much. I recently found out that some of the trainers went over to a new gym that opened up a block over called Outlift Athletics. Real gym, real people over there. Plus it doesnt stink like a pool in there =)

World gym is definitely the best gym in the area. For a very affordable price you receive a range of amentities like weight room, cardio/aerobic areas, pool, sauna, steamroom etc. This gym has been making many updates which is very appreciated and have made the place better then ever. You can workout out in the middle of it all or you can work out in more secluded sections for those days your not at your prime. People re-rack weights and put away equipment in the right spots which is a huge deal compared to other gyms like La fitness which is an absolute mess. I would recommend World to anyone looking for a gym.

Had a summer membership here a while back, but recently tried out the location when i was in the area for an extended weekend. The gym is large, but has a lot of other facilities (tennis, pool, hockey rink) that I didn't take into consideration for this review. All the equipment has seen better days, looks like they've been in use for a while, but still decently well maintained. They have a good amount of racks and benches to accommodate a big gym crowd, and an upstairs cardio section to keep traffic separate from the weights. They have everything you can want there, and the people lifting seem to put back their weights. I find this place has a better atmosphere than LA Fitness, and the equipment here seems the same as what LA Fitness has. Would be willing to train here if I lived in the area.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE I have an ongoing excellent experience at the World Gym since joining in the fall. FAMILY ORIENTED There are many young families there, parents exercising as their children exercise as well in a carefully watched yet fun environment. CARING STAFF During Hurricane Sandy, World Gym opened their doors to all the public for showers, phone charging, etc. The professional staff there, both ones who gave classes and the tennis pros, offered their services for a special fund raising weekend for another hard hit hurricane employee. We raised a lot of funds, and it was very touching. TENNIS After 30 years of not playing tennis I hesitantly approached the tennis staff who both coaxed and embraced me, and I have been getting steadily better. PERSONAL TRAINING I am now working with Oneil Pryce (aka Real Deal Oneil) who is an incredible personal trainer. POOLS There is a marvelous professional teaching the swimming aerobics classes - outstanding EQUIPMENT CONDITION AND TENNIS COURTS - These are not perfect, however, given the camaraderie, friendliness to new members and the ability to not have to wait for a specific piece of equipment, I can stand it. They have several housekeeping/maintenance people constantly cleaning the work areas - I mean constantly. In a dream world the elliptical TVs would work most of the time, and the tennis courts wouldn't be so damp and leaky. However, you can still play on the courts and I am hoping that they are renovating them, as they are also renovating parts of the lockers. OVERALL RATING - Excellent, because they continue to try to improve. It's impossible to have a perfect huge sports arena like this - it's like your house - it needs constant upkeep. Again, the leaks are the biggest issue at the moment, but we've had a rough stormy year and I believe they will fix the courts this Spring. BILLING NOTE: I had a glitch in one of my billings, and the staff called me back immediately and we resolved the issue - it turned out to be my credit card company, not a fault of the gym's, however they were right on it and didn't quit until it was resolved.

The club has recently put in a brand new circuit of Life Fitness strength equipment. Most of the cardio equipment is brand new with individual tvs on most of the equipment. The equipment is well maintained and there is a person cleaning a wiping down the equipment everyday. I just left LA FITNESS where there was black mold in the locker rooms and there was an awful smell. The fitness director has everyone putting away their free weights so it makes it much easier to use the plate loaded equipment. There are two locker rooms. The pool locker room has been recently updated and it is very convenient next to the pool and gym area. The best part of the gym is that it is a true neighborhood gym and the people are very friendly. As a gym member I can rollerblade on the arena and also use the outdoor tennis courts.

my experience with the setauket world gym is primarily thru there tennis program.
I have two grandkids enrolled, and they love it, and from my perspective the teachers are superb.
