About the Club

Y7 Studio is sweat dripping, beat bumping, candlelit yoga. All studios are heated to 80-90 degrees using state-of-the-art infrared technology, which helps create a detoxifying sweat that stimulates blood circulation and increases flexibility. Classes are paced to the beat of the music to drive the breath, with tracks from varied artists and genres. We practice in a dark, candlelit room with no mirrors to encourage you to turn your focus inward and explore your individual practice. We flow together, we flow hard.

Nothing like ruining a Sunday morning, waking up early, juggling kids, rushing across town for a bit of peace, only to be told “sorry, can’t let you in” for being four minutes late.

It’s almost impressive how a place that preaches inner peace can cling so rigidly to a policy that’s anything but peaceful. Nothing says “we care about your well-being” like locking the door in your face while charging you for classpass cancellation fees.

The irony couldn’t be stronger. Never coming back. Namaste.

One of my favorite workout studios in the city. The classes are heated and difficult, but they have no mirrors and low light so you can take it at your own pace. They follow a pattern of 3 vinyasa flows, then a short rest, then some abs/squats, then finally savasana. I honestly wish sometimes that first rest was skipped bc it feels weird to relax and then do something even harder, but I understand why they do it.

I’ve tried a number of coaches and they’re all good, usually my issues relate to the music (I’m picky), and never the instruction/teaching.

They have showers and equipment for rent!

Love this place :)

Use of pop music during Vinyasa is my only complaint. Would appreciate more instrumental songs at the very least. However, I really really liked the instructor!

10:30 am 6/5 - Was running 1-2 mins late and front desk staff was rude and unapologetic about not letting me into the class, and not allowing me to join a later class instead. The combination of bad policies and unfriendly/unhelpful front desk left a bad taste. Plenty of studios nearby so won’t be returning here.

Chris is easilyy one of the best yoga teachers I’ve ever had. His calm energy and crystal clear instructions make every class such a great experience. Special shout out to the staff that check us in and close out thursday nights with incense and good vibes. Really appreciate everything you guys do.

Had to drop 5⭐️ after seeing how many people left bad reviews. There are many different ways to practice yoga, and this one is exactly as advertised: “we flow hard.” Not a namaste and naps kind of place (if that’s what you’re looking for). So glad I found Y7 after trying many other studios that were boring/too easy. Always leave feeling amazing

Do not purchase a membership here — they make it impossible to cancel and even if you follow instructions they will still charge you. Customer service is non existent so you can’t even get a hold of anyone to help you, making it impossible to get your money back. They are unethical and don’t care about their students.

Absolutely LOVED Lauren’s class.
I’ve had a Y7 membership for years and she is certainly one of the best teachers I ever had class with- phenomenal, motivational and extremely clear cues, along with challenging yet attainable flows and postures. She offered both challenge and modification consistently at every moment it was needed. I left her class already looking up her future schedule so I can experience them more often! Thanks, Lauren!

I was personally involved in choosing this studio so that my spouse could find a practice close to home. When a patron has a valid problem and needs assistance, and the business quotes their policy, so that they can dismiss you, you know you are dealing with someone who doesn't care about you. Any advances in your practice will be lost having to deal with this studio. Take your yoga practice and business elsewhere. Details of the correspondence with the studio in the screenshots.

Natalie was honestly amazing. I understand it’s yoga, and she kept the yoga vibe up, but she didn’t beat you over the head with it, which made it feel good to be in a relatable yoga class. We’re all there for different reasons and I feel like she understood that. Natalie was excellent.

Love this studio! Front desk has always been nice and courteous. I booked through classpass at the beginning but ended up buying directly through y7. I love the dimly lit rooms (may not be for everyone), and the OG instructors always give clear instructions.

Also, try not to go to class late because they do refuse late entrances. It makes sense though since you’ll be interrupting the people who showed up on time!

I have been going to Y7 since 2018. Through weight loss, weight gain, moving, Covid, and many other changes in my life Y7 has been a yoga studio that I keep coming back to.

There is certainly a school of thought that hot yoga or Vinyasa flow yoga is "not yoga" (my mom being one of those people lol) But I believe that this style of yoga is just as valid as any other.

I have been guided by dozens of teachers, and yes, some I liked more than others, but because this style is formulaic, there's a foundation for students to fall back on. I love that the class is dimly lit. It allows for one to concentrate on how you feel rather than how you look and focus on yourself rather than other people.

The studio in Williamsburg has been here along time and it's apparent to me that there are some structural integrity issues with the building itself, which I cannot and will not ever blame Y7 for. Based on the work that they've done, I believe that they try their absolute best to maintain the studio. There are some things that are unavoidable in New York City one of which is a building developer doing shoddy work in a nice neighborhood just to turn over a building.

If you are coming from class pass, or you are new to yoga in general or new to this style of yoga, may I just offer this piece of advice since you're reading my review: know that this style and format is somewhat advanced and you may feel uncomfortable, the first couple of times, but eventually your body Becomes conditioned. Allow yourself at least a few sessions before you write this style of yoga off completely. If you do not like hot yoga, or Vinyasa yoga, I would say you should find a more traditional style yoga studio.

This used to be my favorite location! 💔 Many updates were needed in this location (moldy/missing tiles in the wall of the shower, broken water dispenser...). It would also be helpful to get notified ahead of time if the amenities are not working properly. I went there with an empty water bottle, expecting to be able to fill it up and was told I needed to purchase a bottle of water (or use the bathroom sink). Not offering complementary bottled water when it's not the patrons' fault seems a bit unfair when you're charging almost $40+ per class.

I loved Lauren’s class that I took in Williamsburg. Her tone was compassionate, and the energy of the class was dynamic, ranging from introspective to exciting. Her playlist was awesome too! I can’t wait to take it again. Also, I appreciate that there are no mirrors in the studio. It makes the vibe more intimate and less of narcissism marathon.

I've been going to Y7 now for the past 5 years, sometimes more frequently then others. It always remains a place I come back to recenter myself. The atmosphere, environment, and the instructors are some of my favorites I've experienced out of a workout class in the city. I love the use of hip hop, rap, and r&b music they use during the flow portion of class. I highly recommend!

First of all this is NOT YOGA . It's more like a hot fitness class calling itself yoga. The teachers are amateur hour and the vibe was just obnoxious. The music is stupidly loud and is the type of trash music you'd hear at a frat party. No thanks, I don't need to hear angry rap blasting while I am trying to go inward and release. 5 mins into the class and I was already ready to leave but did not want to be 'rude'. I should have . These people clearly do not care about being rude. Their attitude is off the charts. I would not send my worst enemy here.

I generally am not a huge fan of yoga, but because I sit all day at my desk I figured I should start trying to work this in more (in addition to my other work outs) to make sure I'm working on stretching and whatnot.

I'm SO happy I found Y7- this is the first yoga place I've ever gone back to more than twice. I now go once a week through ClassPass or twice a week if I'm feeling too tired for my HIIT classes. I wish I could come more but wow this place is very expensive for the classes and mat/towel rental (which you honestly do need to not slip n slide the whole time).

I love that the lights are out here and there aren't any mirrors- it helps you focus on just how YOU are feeling and not feeling embarrassed if you stumble or are not as flexible as those around you. It's a great balance of slowed yoga with speeding it up, which really helps me not get bored (as I do in all other yoga classes) and the way they bring different styles of music in.

The heat element really helps you sink into your stretches more and helps you feel so refreshed!

After practicing yoga for a decade, I kinda felt like I'd seen it all. But the experience at Y7 was really interesting, different and good.

Their signature class moves through a sequence 3 times. First, slowly, then second a faster flow, the third you can modify it however you want, or do whatever your heart desires. This all happens in a slightly warmed and dark room only lit by candles which really helps you turn inwards, no comparisons with other people, no urge to match what someone else is doing. The instructor I had was Phillip and he was really great.

The dark makes it hard for teachers to do adjustments or correct alignment so it makes more sense if you have a foundation in yoga already. It's not a traditional yoga school by any means but if you're experienced, I think this is a really nice way to change up your practice.

Had nice showers, amenities like wipes, deodorant, and general thoughtful touches around the studio.

Lululemon also has their stamp of approval for this chain as they're an official Studio partner and share content with Lulu. I def see why now and will be back soon!

Started getting ready for a much needed morning decompression after a busy work week. My early bird friend recommended this yoga place to come by. The minute i showed my face they said “no, you guys need a covid test” as a black man I feel violated. This place does not care about black people, I’m sure anyone else they would never dare ask.

Although at first I was unsure about y7, I've found that I keep coming back to the studio to practice. The space is very nice (definitely has that "cool Williamsburg" design), and what I love is how the studio is DARK with no mirrors. It really allows you to connect to the practice and tune inwards, which works so well with the "flow on your own" mantra of y7. I take morning classes there, and it always sets my day up so well. The morning teachers are also great and usually have really interesting flows and things to think about throughout the practice. I'm very glad it's in the neighbourhood!

I love Y7 Studio’s location in Williamsburg. It is a short walk from the Marcy Ave J train stop. The facilities are clean and well kept. My favorite instructor is Phil, who always spices the class up with different moves and challenges. I am always motivated to try new poses, even ones that I’ve never been able to complete in the past. Phil allows me to at least try them. I will be going back as much as I can.

The studio is fine and i enjoy the practice but had problems with the app. I was missing a class or 2 from my package. When mgmt at the BK location attempted to correct, they charged me cancellation fees but never added the classes. I would say you need to pay close attention to your class count, and if you change a class to a different time, even if neither class is nowhere close to being full, they will charge u a cx fee, if it is < 12hrs out

This is my favorite Y7 location to practice at since it has the most spacious studio. The instructors are a mixed bag: some give plenty of opportunity for a challenge, others can be frustratingly relaxed. Some keep the room nice and toasty (which to me is the main draw of in-person classes), others will literally turn the fan on and open the windows for the last third of class. I wish the experience was more consistent so I could know what I’m getting into when trying a new instructor, but when I do find someone I like I’m glad to keep coming back.

I've loved being a Y7 member for the past ~6 months. The instructors are really welcoming and you can tell, incredibly well-trained. Not just physically, but spiritually with respect to the practice. While the class can be categorized as fast pace, Y7 instructors truly care about alignment and safety, which isn't always the case in workouts of this kind. I appreciate that they recommend rest when needed, and never shame you for doing so, and they mention that off the bat, to make the space inclusive for those new to the practice.

The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5 isn't due to customer satisfaction with the studio, but due to their pricing model. As a member, I pay $170+ a monthly, normal for a monthly membership in NYC. That said, if I don't cancel my booking for a class 12 hours prior to said class, I get charged $10 incrementally. I understand this billing model for non-members, but as a member, aren't I already paying for the class, regardless if I go or not?

12 hours in advance is insane.. maybe lessen that for members to 3 hours if you can't wipe out the late-cancel feel totally?

Love the We Flow Hard format, the low lights and high temperature! Everyone from the staff to the instructors are super friendly and professional (Williamsburg location).

I would love it even more though if the classes were 15 minutes longer as sometimes it feels way too rushed. I would also suggest including more slow burn classes during the week, or even a Yin class here and there.

I discovered the Y7 studios through my ClassPass subscription. The studio itself was well kept and I liked the free-verse approach to Phil’s yoga class. However, I felt tricked into paying a very high mat rental fee which left me feeling overall disappointed by what could have otherwise been a good experience.

Tried this studio through ClassPass. Overall good experience. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could. Forewarning though, mats and towels are available for an additional charge even for first timers. There is a free water fountain/dispenser in the studio which is great. Studio was clean and modern. Yoga flow was unique and consisted of 3 reps of 3 rounds of flow sequences with each rep getting progressively faster. Music was 👌, instructor was pretty hands off and offered no individualized form correction. Front desk staff was ok. If you are looking for a yoga workout vs. a relaxing session this is it.

This is not Yoga but a hot Fitness class. Still liked it but can’t give more stars because:

1) drop in class is $42 ( with towel and mat) super expensive sorry

2) the studio is under construction and there was dirt and dust everywhere!!! Noises during the class got drowned in the loud music they play during exercise but honestly on this price I am expecting a clean studio.

So nope not going back

Not to go scorched earth about something kinda minor, but man, I just had a real eye-roll of an experience here. I showed up 5 min late after getting mixed up and thinking the studio was on NORTH 1st, not SOUTH 1st. I was summarily turned away at the door because they have a "very strict" late policy.

They then said they'd mark me as present so the app I booked the class on wouldn't charge me another extra fee for an unscheduled absence, and told me to lie on the app and say I'd attended, but is that realllllly a favor? Either way, they keep the money and I have to literally ride home in the rain without a class I paid for.

It's New York city. People are regularly 5 min late, and if you're gonna have strict policies about it, please list that up front in your booking app (I double checked and it's nowhere to be found). Kinda makes you wonder how many people they run this minor graft with

In conclusion, serves me right for trying to do bougie white lady hip hop yoga in Williamsburg lmaoooo

EDIT: looks like a solid third of these reviews say the exact same thing so maybe that's a sign to cool it on the late policy my dudes 😂 I anxiously await your copy-paste response to this 😊

Living in nyc, majority of the population depends on the mta to get from place to place. I was 3 MINUTES late to the last class of the day after sprinting from the train station. I apologized and begged to be let into class and was met with a cold unapologetic worker who refused to make an exception.
Yoga is supposed to be a time to decompress and release all of the stress of life through practice. The entire situation made me more stressed and I didn’t get so much as a “sorry”. If Y7 cares more about their “policies” than their students actually benefiting from their classes, then I will NEVER return again. I will be sure to spread the word as well. Thank you for such a terrible experience.

First of all, I really like Y7 in general. It's not for everyone, but if you like to approach yoga as a workout as well as get a good savasanna in 100° dark room- this is your space!

I particularly want to shout out August. Last Saturday I went to their afternoon class and it was phenomenal. They spoke with a softness that felt calming while also pushing the entire class with interesting and challenging sequences. I left class feel relaxed and renewed. I also overheard 2 separate groups commenting on how great August was.

Just wanted to make sure y'all know you have a gem of a teacher on your team.

Thanks so much!

Really solid studio for Y7. Spacious, ample locker room and shoe storage, and several large bathrooms with showers to use pre- or post-class. My only complaint is it can get smelly if you take a midday class on the weekends (please turn on the fans more in the workout room!) but that's to be expected from such a good sweat.

Similar to the other reviews talking about this, I arrived at 5.58 for 6pm class and was told that “2 minutes before class time we give all spots the wait list” (ah.. what?). It’s bad enough to be so aggressive on your late policy when we live in nyc where travel times etc are so often out of our control. But then also to enforce an ‘if you’re not early you’re late’ mantra for a slow yoga class is just overkill.

Not sure how exactly you can uphold a rarely disclosed policy against even your long-term and loyal customers. But especially, how can you truly justify it when seemingly you gave my spot away even earlier than what you say? (i.e I was there 2mins before... so when exactly did you allow the wait list to move into my spot?)

A much more zen idea would be to just stay at home/go anywhere else.

This is such an upgrade for the Williamsburg location. The space is much bigger with real changing rooms and showers now. It's also simply just more convenient to walk to, and closer to nearby post-yoga food options.

Keep in mind that the mats are not included and cost $2 (last time I checked). Towels are $3. I used to think this was a bit of a rip off, but people do sweat quite a bit in hot yoga and I'm sure it's more costly to maintain the equipment. My suggestion is to just bring your own.
