I have gone through some emotional and physical trauma in the past few years. I felt like my body and emotional health was not responding to anything suggested for healing. I was told to try somatic yoga and was happy to see that Yoga and Melody offered it. I had practiced with Melody in the past and knew it would be a great experience. I feel more at peace now and almost no pain in the affected areas of my body. Melody is an excellent teacher, guiding you through each movement and creating a safe and peaceful environment to practice. I highly recommend the somatic and restorative practice.

Melody is Amazing ! She has helped me on my journey to healing better than traditional medicine. After taking just one private session with Melody she knew exactly what I needed to help me heal physically and emotionally. Highly Highly recommend trying out one of her classes.

I can't say enough good things about my experience at Yoga and Melody! From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. The one-on-one classes are tailored to specific needs, allowing you to focus on your goals, whether it's improving flexibility, building strength, or just finding a moment of peace in your busy life.
The instructor is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, providing personalized guidance that will truly transform your practice. She takes the time to understand your body and adjusts the sessions accordingly, making each class feel unique and fulfilling. Her passion for yoga is contagious, and I always leave feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
The studio itself is cozy, with calming decor and nice little touches like a air purifier running in the studio to help you breath easy. She also adds various little touches like offering essential oils to enhance the experience. I also appreciate the focus on mindfulness and breathing techniques, which have helped me not only on the mat but in my daily life as well.
If you're looking for a personalized yoga experience that caters to your individual needs, I highly recommend Yoga and Melody Studio. It's a hidden gem that has truly changed my approach to wellness. I can’t wait for my next class!

Melody is truly one of a kind! I have been nervous to try yoga for so many years and Melody has been a god send to me. She listens to all my concerns mentally emotionally and physically and tailors our yoga session every time to what I’m feeling in the moment. She has been gracious and patient with me being a complete beginner to Yoga. Melody is not only a knowledgeable yoga instructor teaching the most authentic practices but a wonderful human being inside and out. I am so blessed to have Melody in my life as my teacher and friend!

I began yoga classes with Melody after finishing rehab, for my shoulder pain. My pain is not isolated to my shoulder, as I have Lupus, I have severe arthritis and I am in constant pain. At 72, I started this journey with Melody in private sessions and my shoulder pain is gone, my balance and most of all my confidence has improved beyond measure. I'm so comfortable with Melody and how much stronger I've become, I've even added a group session. Melody is a knowledgeable, professional, and patient yoga instructor who will work with your individual needs. I never though that at 72 I would even be able to get off the floor like a yogi. I highly recommend you give her a call and take a private or a group class. You will be thrilled with the outcome. Kathy F

I have worked with Melody for many years. I had injuries that affected my back and lower joints which required surgery and has caused arthritis to set it over the years. I did physical therapy off and on for decades but always came back to Melody and her practice. I have integrated her teachings into my life and continue to work with her remotely as I no longer live in NYC. I am not on pain killers and have maintained a measure of flexibility thanks to her. She is truly a gem!

Over the years, I had taken yoga classes at various studios and even practiced with home DVDs. I never found any studio, though, that I felt pulled to stick with. Then 2 years ago, I found Melody and she is just what I needed to help me in my healing journey! I encouraged my husband, who never practiced yoga, to come with me. Fast forward 2 years later and we continue to take private lessons with Melody. Our yoga practice is now an essential piece of our self-care toolkit thanks to Melody. When my husband hurt his back when we were out of state, Melody’s lessons in breathing is the only thing that helped him get through the pain until we could get to the hospital. For me, the breathing lessons have helped me with my insomnia and stress. When I am up in the middle of the night, I can hear Melody’s voice helping me do square breathing to calm my body. I have also attended her workshops in Ayurveda, chakra balancing, and crystals. It’s East meets West and I have learned many other tools beyond yoga to help me in my healing.
Melody is so much more than a yoga instructor, though, and has deep experience in both eastern and western approaches to health. This is what drew me most to her, i.e., her holistic approach to healing. Her past work experience in medicine greatly enhances her understanding of the physical aspect of our body, but what I appreciate the most is her understanding on the spiritual and energetic part of ourselves and how they are all integrated. She is very centered and grounded in the needs of the heart, body, mind, and soul. Melody is highly intuitive and knows exactly what we need in each session. We come to our session and share what has been going on the past week. Every time, she already had the perfect practice that our body and mind needed already written out for our session. She is so patient and walks through each aspect of the positions and what they help with. We leave each session feeling calm and centered.
I highly recommend Melody! Through getting to know her these past 2 years, we are very grateful for her teachings, her insights, and her friendship. The Light in us honors the Light in you; Namaste Melody.

I have been a student for nearly three years. I started with chair yoga and now I am enjoying restorative, with a goal of gentle yoga on the horizon. This morning after restorative class, I went for a bone density test and a circulation test. The PA reading the bone density was amazed at the amount of improvement from a couple of years ago, and said my osteoarthritis greatly improved as well. I have a bone on bone knee and was told I needed a replacement. I responded by researching chair yoga on Staten Island, where I found Melody Harden-Sandhu. Best decision I ever made. I passed the circulation test and my bp was 110/80. I had not even taken my bp pill yet. Yoga works, almost like magic. I go 2-3 times per week. It is really changing things around for me. ❤️

I took some private classes with Melody and just finished up. I had a wonderful experience and great tips that I think are going to change my life. I came to Melody because I had back pain that will not leave me alone. Melody was so caring and thoughtful, each time we met she would try to help direct me to do things that would help relieve my pain. She was successful in her endeavors. I will be taking some of her classes also because she is someone I want in my life, to help me stay focused on my quest for recovery from this chronic pain. Thank you Melody!

I have been coming to Melody for private classes since October. I have changed in many ways such as physically (my physique, the way I walk is better, my breathing and my mindset). When you begin practicing yoga you don’t realize at first how much it effects you on and off the mat. Yoga is my calling or should I say Mel is my calling. She is an amazing teacher with a heart of gold and always believes in me. In Melody’s classes she makes you feel at ease no matter what your level is and will work with you. All the ladies that attend are professional and kind. I was intimidated to go at first but Mel has truly prepared me for my yoga journey. I am so excited to keep practicing with Mel and have even been practicing at home. Yoga has taught me the true connection to self.

What a great place! The instructor is extremely passionate about yoga and caring for her students. Welcoming, supportive, uplifting, and energizing! This is not only an amazing place to practice yoga, it's an amazing place to grow. Classes are small and there is a real personal presence as we stretch, strengthen, move, and breathe together. Great for beginners, and more advanced. I was introduced to so many other healing arts.
They offer package deals for classes that were very convenient for me. Walked out of the class feeling calm and fulfilled!!

Thank you Mel for being you and sharing your energy with me!!

As a working mom, I tried yoga for the first time about a year ago as a way to carve out some time for myself during the hectic days. Melody is not just an instructor, but a guide. She leads her students to find what is so easily lost but so greatly needed: a calm and quiet respite designed to help regain clarity and strength in an increasingly cluttered world. Melody tailors each private session to a student’s particular needs, and their needs on any particular day. The lessons are practical and portable – they stay with you long after you leave the studio. She is always passionate but never preachy, and she shows that strength and serenity are not necessarily contrary. Her past professional experience in the field of medicine truly benefits her students, as Melody is able to address the importance of nurturing the mind, the body and the spirit.

I heard about Melody through a friend and after being out of practice for so many years was nervous about jumping back in. Melody was amazing and made me feel comfortable and welcome. Working full time and teaching acrobatics on the side meant that I had a horrible schedule. Melody fit me in and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. She is a true yoga teacher and her classes better your mind, body and soul. There are classes for everybody no matter your age or skill level. Melody is an amazing person who truly cares about her students. I love it here and have referred my friends who in turn have referred their friends. I will be a student of Yoga & Melody for life.
