Having known Shazi for several years, I was happy to see she would be using her expertise in her own studio. A beautiful, peaceful setting with an Iyengar based approach (many props including wall hooks, straps and harnesses) makes this studio a perfect place to enrich your practice. Shazi is kind, skilled teacher catering to every need of all her students. Her discerning eye may bring an observation or modification that is always useful. Having practiced more than 20 years, I've finally found my yoga home.

5 stars is generally a bit suspect but let me explain. This new Yoga center is run by Shazi Luqman. She and her staff are the kindest and most intuitive instructors you could hope for. I call it the school for "broken toys". I have health issues. Many people do. I have done yoga in the past and found it painful rather than helpful. Then I found Shazi. She recognizes your limitations and shows you how to adapt the move with blankets, blocks or a chair. For over a year, I couldn't move my arms across my chest. She slowly increased my range until I could! She works with autistic children and adults. It is amazing to see them focus on breathing and stretching. She does specialized classes for cancer patients (generally, breast cancer), pregnancy (pre & post) and the elderly.
This isn't the type of center where a large group runs circles around you. Shazi is interested in learning how yoga can help you live your best life. Just her voice brings me the best meditation I've ever experienced. She is immensely talented and I thank God I found her. Give her a chance. Stop in for a class. You can experience it to. Make time for yourself. You are no good to anyone else if you let yourself go. Shazi has private lessons that I have found really help when my issues flare. Thank you, Shazi.
