I’ve been debating whether or not to write this because I used to be really loyal to Yoga Hell. I went often, supported the studio, and genuinely liked the classes. But after what happened on March 28th, I haven’t stepped foot back and I never will.

That morning, I took an 8:15 AM class with Katia. I had my phone with me in the yoga room. Yes, I know Katia doesn’t like that — but respectfully, I really don’t care. There are no signs anywhere that say phones aren’t allowed, so I brought mine in like I always do. The class ended at 9 AM, and right at 9, I had to send a super quick work text. It was going to take me two seconds.

Now here’s where it got absolutely insane: Katia, the owner of the studio, walked up behind me and snatched my phone out of my hand. Like literally grabbed it and stormed out. I was so stunned I didn’t even know how to react. Who does that? I’m a grown adult, not a teenager in detention. That was such an aggressive and inappropriate thing to do — especially from someone who owns a yoga business that’s supposed to be centered around peace, respect, and mindfulness.

What made it even weirder was that she called me after and apologized — but not because she felt bad, just because, in her words, it “wasn’t very nice.” Deep down, I knew she didn’t actually care. It felt performative. Like she was just covering her tracks, not genuinely sorry for crossing a major boundary.

After that, I never went back. I felt completely uneasy and disrespected. It’s one thing to ask someone to put their phone away — but it’s a whole different level to physically take it out of their hands. That’s not yoga. That’s just control.

Think twice before going here

Replying to Yoga Hells reviews:

Hi Yoga Hell Team,

Thanks for the dramatic reply — definitely on-brand.

Let me clear a few things up. There were no clearly visible signs about the phone policy on March 28th, either in the lobby or on the yoga room door. If there had been, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Regardless, the way it was handled — with Katia physically snatching my phone out of my hand — was completely out of line. That’s not enforcing a policy, that’s crossing a boundary. In any other setting, taking someone’s personal property would be considered unacceptable — or even assault. But I guess in Yoga Hell, the rules of respect don’t apply?

Also, Katia later called and apologized, saying her behavior “wasn’t very ladylike” — which, if anything, confirmed she knew she was way out of bounds. But let’s be honest, that apology felt more like damage control than actual remorse. If the goal is to promote mindfulness and peace, maybe start by practicing it yourselves.

Your email pretty much proves my point — if your idea of “community” is mocking your former students and doubling down on inappropriate behavior, then you’re right: Yoga Hell definitely isn’t for everyone. It’s just a shame it took a wildly unprofessional moment for me to realize that.

Wishing you luck — and maybe a little humility.

Absolutely perfect hot yoga studio!
This is my favorite studio ever everything here is just perfect. The atmosphere is peaceful and inspiring, the teachers are kind and professional, and every class feels like a deep reset for the body and mind. The space is always clean, warm, and filled with beautiful energy. After each session, I feel stronger, lighter, and completely renewed.
If you’re looking for a place where you can truly reconnect with yourself this is it. 💛

An amazing hot yoga/Inferno hot pilates studio! The instructors are very professional and caring. The place has its own vibe that exudes energy, happiness and peace. It is a home away from home and couldn't be happier to have such a wonderful place in the neighborhood. I truly love Yoga Hell! Since my last review, lots of new dinamic classes were added to the schedule as well as new talented teachers joined us. I cannot imagine a better hot yoga studio in a whole Big Apple then YogaHell! Come and see for yourself! :)

I gave a score of 10 because the experience exceeded my expectations in every way. The studio has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the instructors are not only knowledgeable but also genuinely attentive to individual needs, and the classes are thoughtfully structured to challenge and support at the same time. I left feeling both physically energized and mentally grounded—exactly what I look for in a yoga practice. It’s clear this place is run with care and intention, and that makes all the difference.

I like the friendly environment, the level of experience of each instructors and the challenge's of the classes. Every time I walked out of the studio I felt like that I accomplished something. Additionally I like the size of the studio, it is large enough so people can pick the right spot for themselves if they come to the class early enough. It is definitely my go to studio if I want to level up of my fitness.

Sweat and feel good!

The upbeat dance music , the disco ball , and lots of variety HIIT pilates and Bikram workouts - these all describe this wonderful yoga studio.

Best of all- the instructors. So kind and knowledgeable. They are the special sauce. They motivated and guide each class with so much care - I walk out of each class - energized and ready to tackle the day.

I’m very blessed to be part of this wonderful yoga community.

I attended a Bikram yoga class, and it was an intense but rewarding experience. The room was heated, which made the poses more challenging but also helped with flexibility. The instructor guided us through the 26-posture sequence with clear instructions and motivation. It was tough, especially staying hydrated and pushing through the heat, but I felt amazing afterward—both detoxed and energized. Definitely a great workout for those who enjoy a challenge!

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so shockingly bad that I felt compelled to share my thoughts. I’ve been to over 20 yoga studios in New York, and I have never had such a bad experience. If you gave me a free membership, I still wouldn’t come back, and based on the reviews below which just have a fake response, it looks like everyone else agrees.

First off, the hygiene is terrible. The mats are not properly cleaned, and the studio itself feels unkempt. At every other place I’ve been to, they clean the mats for you, ensuring a sanitary environment. Here, that basic standard isn’t met.

The front desk staff was unnecessarily rigid. I get that studios have policies, but there’s a way to communicate them without coming off as rude. I was told that if I was even five minutes late, I wouldn’t be allowed in because the instructor is “strict.” From the start, it felt unwelcoming.

Inside the class, it only got worse. I whispered to my sister to check if she was okay, and the instructor made a passive-aggressive comment in front of everyone about “no talking.” Then, when my sister stepped out to grab her towel, instead of asking why, the instructor immediately snapped, “Where do you think you’re going? You’re not allowed to leave.” What if she needed air? Or to use the bathroom? There was no consideration at all.

As for the class itself—calling it “hot yoga” is a stretch. There are no heated floors, just machines blowing warm air, which doesn’t create the right environment. The instructor barely moved, choosing to stand and verbally explain movements as if everyone in the room had been taking her class for months. If I wanted an audio guide, I could have stayed home.

To top it off, the overall atmosphere was unmotivating, the studio felt dirty, and the instructor lacked the professionalism and approachability that would make anyone want to return. Personal grooming aside, maintaining hygiene in a fitness space should be a priority.

Fuze House, which was a recent studio I’ve gone to offers an infinitely better experience for $35 per class—clean space, engaged instructors, and a welcoming atmosphere. Meanwhile, Yoga Hell Brooklyn feels like they’re doing everything possible to drive new clients away for the same pricing as the city.

The instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging, guiding you through challenging yet accessible sequences that will leave you sweating and smiling. You'll find yourself among like-minded individuals who are there to support and uplift each other, creating a sense of belonging that extends far beyond the mat. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just starting out, Yoga Hell Brooklyn is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to deepen their practice and connect with their inner fire. I’m coming here for few years already and mostly love to take #hiitpilates classes and sometimes yoga 🧘‍♀️

Very clean and big facility with a bunch of great classes and teachers!
I really enjoying classes with Eileen - full house , great energy and music guarantee!
If you looking to come for the first time it’s might be too intense but it’s definitely great feeling after!
Today took class with Lauren and she was good too( unexpectedly) - lots of push-ups and plans that I really love to do!
Jared and Neil’s also do great Pilates classes .

If I want some yoga - I always love Saturdays 10:30am class with Boris, its amazing class and always bunch of people , so make sure to come on time to get your spot.

Mark is great for bikram and yin yoga

I would say studio is welcoming and highly recommend to everyone who lives in the area.

➖The only minus after the classes that we don’t have even 5 min to stretch because students for next class are coming and putting their mats over your head. ( don’t want to mention names 😈 )

Not feeling welcoming and caring!! I put my mat and towel inside the room and then went to outside bathroom,( cuz the inside bathroom are full ) after I finished, the door already locked! ! I look at the time just one minute late. But my mat and towel still inside, how come the instructor not notice there’s one spot missing???!!! And no front desk, so I was locked out for 45 mins, all I got just a sorry. That’s it !!

Just a quick review because I felt that a certain situation could have been handled more fairly and the policy does not make much sense. While the studio is fairly clean there have been temperature issues. There was a time where I have visited the studio and I recall one time taking a bikram class where I was told the heating system was being worked on and now is fixed only to take the class to find myself freezing through it!
I was not offered a buy back class for that just a few weak excuses. While katia and the other young woman running the studio are very friendly I felt that it was not fair that I had purchased a 10 class package and was told that it “expires” in 3 months ! I had some health issues and was not able to go as many times as I thought I could within the 1 month time period I had because I was moving out of state . While it’s understandable they cannot refund me I thought it was ridiculous that yoga classes can expire within 3 months! Now I do get that studios all have their own “rules” regarding when classes expire but I would think that at least 1 year would be more realistic than 3 months lol. I have food in my apartment lasting longer than that ! Just be careful when you purchase classes and keep in mind the ridiculous expiration period . And while I was told I could transfer the classes I lost to someone else’s account I don’t see how that benefits me but that was their “solution “ LOL

Highly recommend! Still a New-ish member of the studio (2-3months) but hope to become a frequent regular! I have been looking for a new hot yoga studio to join since moving to Brooklyn a few years ago and am so happy to have found this one!

The studio itself is very clean and convenient with enough space to do everything you need to do before and after class as easily as possible. The staff are always welcoming and the place has a great ambiance, gives off very positive and energizing ~vibe~. Some of the classes can get pretty full but I see it as a good thing because so many people want to join the practice of these teacher! I just try to sign up and show up a little ahead of time and with that have always had enough space!

I havent tried all the class but a few I have included Bikram, Pilates, and Vinyasa. I find myself returning most frequently to Vinyasa and Pilates. Specifically Victoria’s Pilates class as she keeps such a high intensity class at a good energy level and she has THE BEST playlists to get you in the zone. She brings a lot of positive and FUN energy to the class and I always leave feeling invigorated and excited for the next one.
Vinyasa I find myself loving Maya’s style of flow, it’s a more gentle and mindful practice- I leave her classes feeling rejuvenated and more comfortable in my skin.

I look forward to coming back each week and getting deeper into my practice!! Thank you yoga hell and all your staff!!

I love hot yoga and Pilates, been to this studio many times, loved it every time but if I can ask for refund for my time & money for today’s class I would.
The instructor is new, couldn’t read the room, didn’t follow the essence of Pilates. Instructions were alternate between floor and standing in 102 degrees, everyone was about to faint, she didn’t change her routine for the PACKED room, i literally had to smell someone’s feet as I did a plank.
Been doing Pilates for 12 years., this is the Worse!!!! She didn’t care for anyone in the class, 0 motivations, all she did is tell us what to do…. If she s teaching again, I’ll make sure to reschedule.

This is a wonderful studio! The teachers create a welcoming warm, supportive , and friendly atmosphere. They are so nice!

The classes I have tried (Hot Pilates and Bikram yoga) are both fun and challenging which is an incredible combination. The energy is addictive. I'm happy each time I take class. I came with no knowledge of either type of workout but am now stronger. The classes are offered at convenient times in the mornings and evenings.

The teachers all masterly guide the classes with heart and precision to bring forth the most healing and strength. Katia, Jared, Neil, Mark and Eileen (and the others) are phenomenal teachers. What a great caring team!

The facilities are very clean. If you are looking for a place to work out and feel good - do yourself a favor and come here. Its one of the best treats and self care you can do for yourself.

My health - both physically and mental has improved in leaps and bounds since starting classes a few months ago. Losing 15 pounds is nice too.

I'm truly grateful for this wonderful studio and the awesome teachers!

I wish I could give 0 stars for the way they treat people ! At the start of the pandemic when everything just closed down, Yoga Hell charged me my monthly payment when we didn’t even know what would happen the next day or if we would return to the studio any time soon. I contacted Katia via phone immediately to ask for a refund or how we can go about this and she stated that I had to give them a 30 day notice before the billing date to pause/cancel my membership. Less than 30 days before my billing date that month , our city was shut down. How was I supposed to know that this would happen? She started saying how our payments go straight to their bills and their payments that they need to pay in order to keep the place going and there was no way to refund me back. That should not be our issue ! I asked her to pause my membership for a few months until the studio reopens and I return back. Suddenly in August, I get charged for my membership again while it was still paused and I was not attending any classes. So I reached out to Katia again and she was able to refund me back right away without any issues but for some reason she was not able to refund me a few months back when the studio was closed. I tried contacting her again multiple times after but was hearing the same responses and that she can offer me those months missed free of charge after I have told her multiple times that I have moved and am not able to make it. After my mom made a comment under one of their posts asking for her to respond to our situation, Katia has sent a message to her saying that her comment was inappropriate and that our feedback is irrelevant and blocked my mom. My mom and I have brought many people to her studio and the way she acted towards this situation was very immature.

Lyuba the instructor was horrible, she made the class 90 mins instead of a 60 min when people started to get concerned about the timing she become a madman by saying like a you’re not the only one don’t talk so on. When we came out i apologised for asking the time ( hello??? People don’t have unlimited time) she didn’t even apologise instead she gave the face saying I don’t give a F
Just avoid Friday evening yoga if you want yo have a good Friday/ weekend.
She ruined our plans we were late for 39 mins for everything ended up mad and angry instead of after yoga peaceful feeling. Just avoid this ( Lyuba) instructor overall the instructors are good so far.

This studio has good teachers but I just could not get over the carpet. I wasn't expecting carpet in a hot yoga studio. I bought a 10 class pass and only used about 5 classes. I wouldn't have gotten the 10 class pass if I knew it had carpet... Every other hot yoga studio I've been to before had hard floors. The pictures on google looks like they have hard wood floors but it's just the pattern of the carpet.

I have practiced in many studios in New York City and other cities in United States as well as abroad, and still consider this one my number one. The studio offers Hot yoga classes (Bikram), Hot Pilates, Ashtanga and Vinyasa. The studio is extremely clean.
all of the instructors are highly experienced and super dedicated. There is a sense of real community in this studio. If you are looking for a studio to call home, this place is for you.

THIS MUST BE THE BEST YOGA STUDIO IN BROOKLYN , OR MAYBE EVEN IN THE WHOLE NYC.
IM LONG TIME YOGA PRACTICHINER, AND PRACTICE ALL OVER NYC AND OTHER CITIS IN USA AND ABROAD.
THE TEACHER IN THE ARE ABSOLUTELLY THE BEST.
THE OWNER , KATYA IS FANTASTIC , SHE MANAGED TO HIRE THE MOST KNOWLADGEBLE, CARRYING AND DEDICATED YOGA TEACHER. EVERY STYLE TOUGHT IN THIS STUDIO IS SO BENEFICIAL T0 ANYONES HEALTH , FEEL GOOD AND LOOK GOOD .
I PERSONALLY TAKE BIKRAM AND PILATIES .
THE ASHTAGA CLASS JUST FALLS OUTSIDE OF MY SCHEDULE ,
BUT I WATCHED THE CLASSES AND THEY ARE AWESOME.
WITH THE WHOLE COVID -19 SITUATION , THERE ARE NO INSIDE CLASSES , BUT STUDIO OFFERS THE ROOF TOP AND THE ZOOM CLASSES.
I PERSONALLY CAN NOT WAIT TO GET UNTIL THE INSIDE OF THE "HOT ROOM" ONCE THE STUDIO RE-OPENS (HOPEFULLY SOON).
I ALSO WANT TO MENTION THAT THE STUDIO IS VERY , VERY CLEAN
WITH THE MOST UPDATED AIR FILTRATION AND CIRCULATION
SYSTEM.

Literally yoga hell. The worst instructor with a nasty accent. I’m traumatized after the class and never want to do yoga again. Katia Riva is also a thief. I seen how nasty she is after a class pass session and decided I never want to go back but she stole $200 for a 3 month membership for my girlfriend and I, even though we never used the class because she makes us sick! Especially after the age of Covid I wouldn’t step in that dirty studio if she paid me!

I love this studio but Katya is the owner has so much attitude ... she has strong russsssian accent what is really not fun to listen 60 min for your class ( oh usually it’s not even 60- 50-53 min to be exact) and has Russian attitude how to
Run her business. People are paying you -not you paying them to come there. Max is great teacher , so is you in the mood to do some how Pilates come only to his class. His is the one, other Pilates classes are just okay. Hot yoga is great with Maya! But I still love to come once in while there. So many great studios around sheepsheadbay 🙃

Nice, I like this studio... but Katia gave me such a weird suggestion regarding my belt, I don't think it's her problem. Katia!!! It's not your problem.. it's my yoga. So.... in Manhattan is yoga much better

If you want extra stress in your life visit this studio. I've been there 3 times and all three times I've received the worst customer service I could possibly imagine. They sent me to lock my belongings into a locker but forgot to give a key, when I returned for a key they started question me like I'm a prisoner - you won't get a key before you answer questions. If you feel you want put your belongings away than proceed with questions they won't allow you to do that explaining that I you must to obey the rules lol because it's more comfortable for a new person that they just hired and the more experienced one insist that you behave!! it was funny from the first sign.. But it gets worse, when you are explained that you were questioned all those question last week they will demand explanations on details 😁after this show you finally get a key from the locker which accupaied with another customer belongings!!! If God forbid you are late for class and you put your purse by the wall behind your mat they WITHOUT YOUR CONCENT take your bag and put it outside of the class room while the receptionist is in hot room exercising with a group and the lobby of the studio is freely accessible for strangers. This yoga studio seems more like an army base and from my personal experience you are going to leave more stressed than when you were before. Let's wait for nasty comment from them, I am pretty sure it's coming 😊

I'm very impressed with the energy level, professionalism & workout Katia's team offers. She is very nice & genuinely cares about her students. The Hot Pilates class is challenging but very rewarding. Everyone is very friendly & the place is extremely clean. I highly recommend Yoga Hell.

Yoga Hell is a wonderful studio in which to get fit! Recently, more classes (they offer Inferno Hot Pilates and Bikram Yoga) have been added to the schedule to accommodate as many practitioners as possible. The instructors and studio owner, Katia, are polite, helpful, and understanding. The space is very clean (astounding for a place where heated fitness is practiced!) and the environment is positive and drama free! This studio is creating a community of yogi's and pilates peoples with its energetic and safe space! Thank you, Yoga Hell!!!

If you're commuting and running even few minutes late dont even bother. I was 5 minutes late, so missed the breathing at the beginning of the class and was not allowed to join the class. Was not even allowed to get my mat that was already placed in the class.

First of all, this is a great brand new place run by amazing people. For the last week, I went there every morning, and the energy of the instructors radiates and boosts your energy as well as morale throughout the day.
Secondly, it is a great workout, and even though it has been only a week, I can see the benefits already. I'm standing taller, my neck looks and feel longer, I can feel my spine opening up, and most importantly my spirit is through the roof. I was in a bad mood when I started the classes and thanks to daily progression, I'm one of the most cheerful people out there.
Last, it is worth visiting the studio, because there is nothing to lose but a lot to be gained. Meet Katia and pet her adorable dog, maybe take a class, and I can assure you that you'll be addicted.

This is a brand new studio which opened 12/23/2017. Everything is so crisp in it!
It’s one of a kind yoga and fitness studio!
They have classic 90 mins hot yoga classes as well as 60mins hot yoga classes and super fun HIIT Pilates classes (High Intensity Interval Training)!
Pilates classes are usually held in the evening, when they turn on their disco lights and very upbeat music! Awesome party vibes while getting fitter and stronger!
Do yourself a favor and go check it out wether you appreciate a regular class or a fun workout with music!
