I recently had the pleasure of attending a class at Zombie Muay Thai, and I must say, it was a truly outstanding experience from start to finish. As someone who has trained in multiple countries and sampled countless martial arts and fitness classes, I can confidently say this studio is in a league of its own.
Exceptional Instruction & Deep Technical Knowledge
The first thing that immediately stood out to me was the quality of instruction. The coach wasn’t just demonstrating movements — they were breaking everything down with clarity and intention. Every drill was accompanied by a thoughtful explanation of why it mattered, how it connected to real fight scenarios, and how to execute it safely and effectively. Their passion for Muay Thai is obvious, but what impressed me even more was their commitment to making sure every student — beginner or advanced — genuinely understands the technique. This is the kind of teaching that builds real skill, real confidence, and long-term progress.
A Studio That Feels Like Family
The environment at Zombie Muay Thai is incredibly welcoming. From the moment I stepped in, I felt embraced by the community. There’s no ego here — just encouragement, respect, and a shared love for the art. Experienced members go out of their way to support newcomers, and that level of camaraderie is rare in martial arts gyms. Whether you're walking in with zero experience or years of training, you’ll feel like you belong.
A Workout That Pushes You & Leaves You Better
Muay Thai has a reputation for being intense, and this class delivered in all the right ways. The drills were challenging but accessible, and the coach provided thoughtful modifications when needed. I left drenched, energized, and already excited for my next session.
---
⭐ NEW ADDITION: The Warrior Class — My New Favorite Training Experience ⭐
This morning, I took the Warrior Class at Zombie Muay Thai, and I have to say: this class is something special.
This is the closest thing I’ve found in the U.S. to the fighter mobility and conditioning classes I experienced in Asia — and, honestly, it might even be better.
The Warrior Class is a beautifully structured hour that blends:
Mobility training for fighters
Strength conditioning tailored to the demands of Muay Thai
Core stability work that every striker needs
Full range-of-motion drills within proper fight stance
Strengthening of weaker links like wrists, ankles, and stabilizers
Movement patterns that reduce injury and increase explosive power
This isn’t just a workout — it’s a complete system designed to prepare you to fight, move, and recover like an athlete. Everything had intention behind it. Everything felt functional. Everything connected directly to real Muay Thai performance.
By the end of class, I walked out feeling stronger than ever — grounded, stable, mobile, and powerful. It genuinely elevated my entire understanding of how a fighter’s body should move and be trained.
A Class That NEEDS To Be on the Schedule More Often
Right now, the Warrior Class is only offered on Mondays, and I truly hope the gym considers adding it multiple times per week. This is exactly the type of training that helps fighters prevent injuries, move efficiently, improve endurance, and build the foundational body mechanics necessary to level up.
If you’re serious about your Muay Thai journey, this class is essential.
---
⭐ Final Thoughts ⭐
Zombie Muay Thai delivers on every front — instruction, community, intensity, technique, and now, with the Warrior Class, world-class functional training that rivals elite gyms in Thailand and beyond.
Whether you’re a beginner looking to start your journey or a seasoned fighter wanting to sharpen your edge, this is the place to be. I cannot recommend it enough, and I absolutely cannot wait for my next session.

I have been training at this gym for nearly two years and I am so proud and happy to have started my martial arts journey here. I have trained under Coach Vinny and his training pushes you but at the same time he keeps you safe while making sure you learn. I have also trained under coach Johnny and I take a class from him I learn something great to make a better fighter. If you're looking for a place to learn martial arts, Zombie Muay Thai is highly recommended ❤️🔥

I felt the class was very disorganized. It's definitely not good for beginners. People weren't friendly and were very cliquish. It was very uncomfortable. The coach did not help with my form. The facilities could be cleaner. This place charges more than other more established gyms that have produced great fighters. Looking at the website it looks like John is the only professional fighter. I don't recommend.

This place was such a great environment, and I felt very welcomed. As a beginner I was a little nervous getting into a combat sport again after so long. I came with a friend and we did a free trial class with Cha. He was very patient with us and taught us a lot in our first class. Definitely going to be coming back in the future loved the vibes.
We went for a 12 PM class and it wasn’t too crowded.

This gym rocks!
As a beginner with a tiny bit of experience, I was looking to join a Muay Thai gym. I took trials at a few different Muay Thai gyms. They were all great, but what made me decide to join Zombie was that the trial class practiced as many defensive drills as it did offensive drills, which I really loved. And getting frequent feedback on my form during classes from world-class MT fighters and coaches set the deal for me. You train next to advanced fighters yet you still feel welcomed here as a beginner. Super excited to train here.

Best Muay Thai gym you can ask for. Johnny, Vinny, Tobias and all the other coaches have top notch skills in both boxing and teaching, and most importantly, they are very kind and caring people while pushing you to achieve constant progress. It really feels like a community rather than just a place to work out. You won’t regret joining it.

Great place to go to for Muay Thai in the Union sq area. They have lots of group classes, and a large rotation of coaches to take privates with. They also have a jiu jitsu program. Lots of active fighters as well

I love this gym and I am so honored to train here. I’ve been training here about 10 months and have had so much improvement in my technique and cardio. The gym is spacious, clean, and equipment is properly maintained. The training is the perfect balance of intensity and technique.
I switched to Zombie after a year of training elsewhere where I had an unsafe experience that shook me for months. I told the head coach about my safety issue at my previous gym. He took my concerns seriously and made me feel heard.
It’s difficult to maintain a community in a transient location like union sq but somehow Zombie does it well. They foster a community of support and welcoming to new and current athletes.

I highly recommend this gym if you’re in the area, especially if you’re like me and a Muay Thai beginner / new to martial arts in general. The coaches here I took classes with, John and Vinny, are excellent and the facility has everything you need - lockers, showers, changing rooms, jump ropes, pads, etc. I loved the style of class instruction and structure - the conditioning workouts pushed me in the best way and the partner pad work/drills was a great opportunity to work on technique and receive personalized feedback from the coaches. I appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere from both the instructors and the gym members in classes as someone new to the gym, and learned a lot. Thank you, Zombie Muay Thai!

Joining Zombie Muay Thai almost 5 months ago was one of the best decisions I’ve made this year. The gym has an amazing culture, and all the coaches are fantastic—they take the time to explain the basics and proper form to every student, ensuring you build a strong foundation in Muay Thai.
The class schedule is really flexible, offering a variety of sessions in the morning, afternoon, and evening, so there’s always an option to fit your routine. A big shoutout to Coach Vinny, the young fighter Mike, and Cha for their constant support and advice throughout my journey also David at the front desk. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to train in Muay Thai!”

Been at this gym 6+ months now and it's been great. The coaches and members are friendly and knowledgeable. Classes get into the technical details so it's a lot better than some other gyms in the area.
Coaches Johny and Vinny have a lot of muay thai experience, and they've also got a jujitsu black belt Sebastian so you can get a great all round game if you want to take up different disciplines.
Check out their Instagram to see what it looks like!

Zombie Muay Thai is a fantastic gym to train muay thai. The owner John and his staff of trainers are all very skilled in their craft. They are beyond effective in teaching, as they are constantly working with students to ensure a drill is understood and performed correctly. Not to mention this gym is extremely clean. Zombie provides an excellent environment for beginners, where you can perform drills and practice them in a safe sparring environment, if you so choose. Zombie Muay Thai is a great new gym in the heart of lower Manhattan. At the intersection of Greenwich, Kips Bay and Gramercy ZMT is accessible by multiple train lines and the Citi bike station right outside also makes it easy to get there.
