Barre3 is an efficient and effective workout that combines strength, cardio, and mindfulness, designed to teach people to be balanced in body and empowered from within. When you work out with us, you’ll move through low-impact isometric moves, large-range cardio bursts, and mind-centering breath work. Barre3 instructors will challenge you to find your edge while creating space for you to define what success looks like for you in every workout.

I highly recommend Barre 3 Chapel Hill.
I have been attending the studio for more than 3 years. Jess the owner is always in top of every detail, ensuring you have the best experience, great facility and engaged team.
The instructors are excellent, always giving cues for different adjustment so you do the right work out for you and ensure you progress throughout the classes.
But what I like the most is the energy of the instructors and the people , great community where people support each other and have fun.

Like so many others, in the past I have had a challenging relationship with exercise/movement, focusing on the way my body looks or the calories I've burned, leaving me to feel unmotivated and burnt out. That all changed the first time I stepped into the studio at Barre3 Chapel Hill in 2019. Suddenly, moving was not only fun (and set to great music!) but my focus shifted to the way that I felt before, during and after a workout. I was able to see progress in how long I was able to hold a plank, or the size of the weights I was using. Not only was I feeling myself getting stronger, I was able to tune in to my emotional state before, during, and after a workout. This studio encourages mindfulness- leaving everything outside of the room and focusing only on the movement and breath in the moment. I can notice how balancing or staying on the beat instantly becomes more challenging when my mind wanders, motivating me to stay present. The studio is always filled with friendly faces of different ages, experiences, and body types, and everyone is welcome. If I've had a hard day and need to make modifications to the movements, the encouraging staff are always ready to give options, and I do not feel judged by them, my classmates, or (most of all) myself for taking a different approach that fits my body best that day. Most of all, the owner, Jess, has created such a fun, uplifting and welcoming community. If it's been a tough day (or week!) I know that I can leave it all behind and enjoy a challenging, but fun, workout with the support of my fellow Barre3-ers! I cannot recommend Barre3, and specifically the Chapel Hill studio, enough!

The combination of the intense physical challenge and the strong community support here at Jess's barre3 studio keeps me coming back day after day.
When I first started here I could only lift the minimum and use the easiest band - now 9 months later I've graduated up 2 weights and to the medium band, and it's so exciting to be able to do more and more of the class as I get fitter.
What's more, teachers and other students have always been SO supportive. Even as a struggling beginner, I always felt welcomed, and that was key to getting me to come back. The teachers always offer modifications, and respect if we need to use them! Also, the rest of the students and teachers are #goals, and it gets me excited to keep showing up, week after week.
Don't hesitate to join this studio - it's fabulous.

Staff and owner Jess are so kind and helpful during the class. Location is accessible with parking available though can be busy at times. The class was fast paced, but taking breaks was not frowned upon. There was no “calling out” or targeting people if they weren’t moving as quick or taking a break, which I really appreciated. Bathrooms are clean. Lockers available for keeping personal belongings. Great experience and will be back!

I have always struggled with feeling motivated to work out, and I'm always so happy when I find something fun to do as a workout. Not only are the barre3 workouts fun, they also target all the muscle groups I feel are important for me. I come to the studio and don't have to think about programming, I just follow Jess and the other wondeful coaches, and feel so good when I am done! I love dancing/working out with them! I told my husband I love barre3, and he is so happy that I found something I love. I am totally addicted! ❤️

I was a client of this studio and have recently been in complete shock due to their service. This studio is constantly changing its rules, and they only notify you about it in emails along with advertisements. There are no notifications about these changes in the client's personal account.
Recently, I was 5 minutes late for a class due to traffic (I was coming from a neighboring town), and I was not allowed in! The door was closed. It was just terrible! Previously, I had been late for classes, as had other clients, and everyone was let in. But it turns out the rules suddenly changed. I wrote to the manager, and she said that "I had opened the notification emails." It’s simply disgusting to scold a client about whether they read the promotional emails to explain a rule violation. Yes, I opened the email, saw it was an advertisement, and deleted it. Barre sends notifications at the very end of the email, which is not obvious at all.
What’s even worse – I was late to the next class, and since I had already had a negative experience, I decided to skip it. The next day, I saw that I was charged for the missed lesson! The studio took money from me for a class I had already paid for!!! This is simply unacceptable. I’m punished both for being late and for not showing up. Checkmate! As a client who got held up at work, I’m in a no-win situation!
I have never seen such terrible rules. They are constantly changing, and you never know what to expect. I have completely lost all desire to continue with barre.
P.S. My response to the owner's comment.
I don't agree with you.
1. That is, in the event of an emergency (a fire, an employee present who has access to the lock, etc., becomes ill) people will be locked in the room and in danger. This does not comply with fire safety regulations.
2. Thus, I, an adult working person, must report to you every time in the event of force majeure. In your newsletter, I don’t see the clause “if you give a reason, they won’t take your money and won’t count you for the class.” So again you change the rules as you please.
3. In my case, the classes cost me more, since the subscription was running out, and there were a lot of classes left. I would prefer to have my lesson counted.
4. However, there is no information on the website. There is also no information in the client’s personal account, where he always goes to sign up for a lesson. You have many ways to spread the word, but you're not using the most obvious one.

I started classes a year ago at Barre3, thinking I'd just be coming once a week or so when I'm in Chapel Hill. Within a few weeks, I became a unlimited member so I can come to class whenever I can or by Zoom when I can't make it to the studio. Jess is a natural-born teacher/coach/cheerleader/community builder and it shows in every class and with her whole team. I love the Strength class the most and can really feel a difference from when we started in the summer (we are all picking up the bigger weights and carrying more than when we started!). I have some limitations from an ankle injury and appreciate that every exercise has the options of modifications (I always think, mods are never odd!) and challenges, so you see everyone make it work for them. A friend in Portland told me she always feels taller leaving barre3 classes, and I feel like we leave fully focused and in our bodies. I wish Jess could open a studio in Durham but she can only be so many places at once!

I have been a member of B3 Chapel Hill since 2018. It is the only workout that I can stay consistent with. I love that B3 encourages modifications. If something doesn't feel right in your body...modify! The workout is fun, challenging, and great mix of functional postures and strength training. As a chiropractor, I also appreciate the focus on alignment and proper posture to avoid injury. And as a business owner, I appreciate Jess's attention to detail and cleanliness. The props are never worn out and the balls are never deflated (IYKYK!)

I just started going to barre3 CH and I have to say, I’m hooked. I turned 43 and realized I really need to get back on track and prioritize my health. I’m not in the best shape and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do the classes but Jess is amazing and really motivates you to keep going. Barre 3 Chapel Hill is one of the most amazing communities you can be a part of! After trying many forms of exercise, I truly believe this is the best full body workout. My friends and I were locked out of a yoga studio after the teacher never showed last August - and decided to check out Barre3 - and I never looked back! Discovering and joining Barre3 as a member was one of the best things to happen last year! The classes and the instructors (Jess - Owner, Hope, Claire, Dana and Blaine) have made me into a stronger, more diligent, and determined person (and runner! don't underestimate strength training!!) through their supportive attitudes and guidance and inclusive studio! What I said the 2nd time I showed up for a barre3 class is telling about what happened in the 1st class "Is this where egos go to die"? Jessica said yes and proceeded to dog walk my glutes and quads for 60 minutes. This is the best workout for legs I've ever had. The "guys" are really missing out with just pumping their weights; do they even lift? See flow chart, the answer is no.

I've done barre at several different studios over the years and this is my favorite by far. It has a very welcoming and friendly environment, classes have good energy but with no judgmental vibes. It is also a nice clean studio that is well-equipped. I'm pregnant and Brooke has been extremely helpful with providing modifications and checking on me. I can't recommend this studio more!

I've been coming to B3 Chapel Hill for years. I usually get bored when I stick to a certain fitness regimen, but the variety of cardio, strength, and flexibility training that is packed into each barre3 class always keeps me engaged. I also love that each instructor has their own style of instruction, so pretty much anyone can find a class that works for them. An added bonus: class-goers, front desk staff, and instructors are all friendly and encouraging. This creates a welcoming and positive studio environment, for newbies and members alike.

I decided to give barre3 a try after a wrist fracture and surgery, and two years of working out on my own (haha) because of the pandemic. I absolutely love this place! The instructors are fabulous (Casey & Brooke's playlists are the best)! The workouts kick my butt every time, and I leave feeling happy and energized. Lastly, there is a sense of community there -- staff welcome you by name and seem genuinely glad you're there. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed working out this much.

Barre3 Chapel Hill is great as are all of the instructors! The workouts are varied and keep you on your toes. I love the combination of toning, conditioning, and cardio. The instructors do a great job of providing levels and modifications that allow you to make the workout fit your abilities and energy level. This is the best workout I’ve ever done. I love that you can modify based on how you’re feeling in the moment, if you’re pregnant or postpartum, healing from an injury, whatever. All the instructors are so kind, welcoming, and inspirationally strong! Every class is different and I never get bored. Yes, it costs more than a gym membership, but I’ve been able to stick with it better than other workouts. It is worth every penny and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Everyone is super friendly and welcoming! I love running and this has been a great way to mix it up. I really enjoy the mix of strength, cardio, multiple movements and stretching. I try to go to Barre3 whenever I’m in town and have always had a great, very positive experience with all the teachers. Very encouraging environment that allows you to work at your own level but still motivate you to push yourself that extra little bit. Exceptionally clean studios also!

I've tried a lot of different kinds of exercise, from bootcamps, to swimming, to small group and individual personal training. Barre 3 is the first workout I've ever really loved. Between the high energy music and the enthusiastic teachers, it's the first time I've ever had fun working out! Now I'm totally addicted.
Unlike some other Barre studios I've tried, which shall remain nameless (but it rhymes with Sure Car), B3 incorporates SERIOUS cardio into every class in addition to muscle toning and balance training. More importantly, the environment is very open and inviting. I've been to Barre studios where it felt very Stepford.... like you shouldn't be there if you don't weigh 117lbs and have blond hair and a giant diamond engagement ring. Barre3 is the opposite. There are people there of every age and size and color, and the teachers are SO warm, caring and supportive.
The workouts are fun but very challenging. Every teacher has her own style and designs her own class, so you won't get bored and you can always find someone to suit your needs (whether that's an intense calorie burn or a more moderate level workout with the emphasis on mobility and balance). AND they provide aton of modifications to accommodate injuries and physical limitations (which is incredibly important to me as a person with a chronic invisible illness). Six stars!

Love Chapel Hill Barre3! Always a great workout with talented instructors. Staff is gracious and accommodating. Great mix of barre, cardio, strength training, balance, and core. And the little meditation at the end, leaves me feeling refreshed. Every time.

I love going to my Barre3 classes because it’s designed for all age groups. I just turned 57 and was looking for a full-body workout that was not a crazy boot camp class but a place that was still going to be challenging for me, and Barre3 fit the bill. I get my cardio, endurance, core strengthening, and balance all wrapped up into one 60-minute class. At Barre3 in Chapel Hill, the instructors are always attentive to everyone’s needs, extremely knowledgeable, and very friendly. So, be prepared to sweat, while working on your mind & body, meet new people, and most of all have a fun time!

Before starting B3 I was worried that I would feel behind everyone else in my fitness, embarrassed by my lack of rhythm, or self conscious; but I immediately felt accepted by all of the staff and the other people attending the class. Soon, the women behind the desk began to remember me and welcomed me by name each morning as I walked in. The full-body workout is amazing, but the main reason why I keep coming back is that the instructors genuinely seem to be excited to have each person there. The place and the workout are both great, but the people are the ones who make me want to sign up for a class whenever I can.

I love Barre3! The instructor was very welcoming and helpful to me as a new student to both the studio and barre in general. She helped me and others throughout the class with modifications to make things easier or harder. I loved the music and lighting and how they corresponded to the moves we were doing. I worked up a decent sweat and really tested all my muscles in the 60 minute class! Plus, the studio is very clean and has a nice array of toiletries (though no showers) for guests to use. I will definitely be back and look forward to improving my barre skills!

So much better than I expected! I try a lot of fitness classes and typically find "barre" classes boring. However Barre3 had a great instructor (Emily) who both inspired and motivated, and also knew her body mechanics; offering substitutions and helping with individual corrections. The music and lighting were great, and I particularly loved how it was a variety of ages and fitness levels in the class. I work out a lot and this one left me feeling it!
