’ve been a member of Club Pilates Asheville for about three years, and while there are a few excellent teachers — truly top-notch — there are unfortunately very few of them. Those few instructors are completely overbooked, which means that if you ever go on vacation or pause your membership, it can take weeks or even months to get back into their classes.

The scheduling system is frustrating. You can sit on a waitlist and only get notified 30–60 minutes before a class that a spot opened. If you can’t make it on such short notice, you still get charged a no-show fee. That policy feels unreasonable for people with normal work or family schedules.

When I canceled my membership in early September, I was charged for both September and October despite clear notice of my cancellation. After three years of loyalty, that left a bad impression.

In short, I respect and appreciate the few amazing teachers, but the overall organization, scheduling, and billing practices need serious improvement.

Ashley teaches the Control 1.5 with an excellent flow, clear cueing, great music, and an upbeat tempo. It is supposed to be different than a Flow class and Ashley works us out thoroughly and makes it fun. The transitions are smooth and the class is pretty challenging. I love Ashley’s classes. It has taken me 8 weeks to get into her Control
Class! Now I book her weeks in advance to get into her classes. She is one of the best!

Studio is beautiful. Would have loved to have done more resistance movements on the reformer or springboard. Not alot of pilates principles included. Ex. Why, breath or spinal positions. Hoped to at least warm up and cool down. I also like to do bridges....but we didn't do any.

I have attended classes at both Asheville locations of Club Pilates for several years. It’s an amazing workout, with instructors that are professional and care. Rhys is inventive, precise with form, and an extremely knowledgeable instructor.
It’s been a while since I’ve attended, and went back today. Amanda did a truly amazing job! She is cheerful, her class was challenging and fun - it was a great first-class back!

I started at Club Pilates after a year of rehabbing double frozen shoulder. I’m a competitive lifter and had lost almost all of my core strength and still had limited shoulder ROM. I signed up for a monthly membership at Club Pilates. I took one paid class immediately following a complimentary intro class.

I went to sign up for classes the following week and could not get into a single class. I was waitlisted for all the times I could go. By Sunday night I was still waitlisted #7 for the following day, so no guarantee I could get in, which doesn’t work for me or my schedule (especially at the high cost they charge).

I decided the studio was not for me after reviewing the class times closer and being waitlisted for multiple classes. I was getting anxious and frustrated by the experience.

I asked the studio to cancel. I knew upon signing I was entering into a 3 month contract (big mistake). They said I could cancel for a $100 fee (ridiculous after taking one single class). After much discussion, I asked them to waive the cancellation fee, which they did. But they said they would not return my first month’s payment of $175.

I reminded them I only took ONE paid class. They refused. Now, I admit I am at fault by signing a damn contract. But businesses need to adapt to people's needs too. It’s not the right studio for me (especially given their response), and I can’t believe they think it’s acceptable to keep $175 for ONE class. That's terrible business behavior.

I have heard from other people they have trouble getting into classes too (feels like they sell more memberships than they have space for).

And then they refuse to refund you.

Ashley is one of the best Pilates instructors I have had. I have been doing Pilates for five years and she explains and demonstrates each move. She also explains it a couple of ways for both auditory and visual learners. This is the mark of an excellent teacher. She also helps with correcting form when needed. I have never been a huge fan of group fitness until Club Pilates! Rhys is a highly skilled and very tough instructor. As a Physical Therapist I have knowledge of anatomy and Rhys probably knows more than I. His cues are spot on, his classes never leave you wanting more and his creativity shows in his choreography and originality. He is not outwardly warm and fuzzy but I’ve been fortunate to get to know him and he truely takes his job as an instructor seriously. Inwardly, he is extremely warm and fuzzy as evident by his love for his kitty! I LOvE Rhys’s classes!

I fell in love with pilates because of Chase. He's an incredible instructor - gives very clear directions, has a sense of humor along with a kind approach, and he balances out the exercise of pilates with the rewarding stretches throughout. It always makes my day to go to his classes and they fill up so quickly that I feel lucky to get in whenever I can.
I also love going to Gwen's classes and it's a treat that I get to see her multiple times per week. She's also got a great sense of humor and I enjoy her classes a great deal.
Overall, I think the studio is great. I was only going once per week for the first few years, but a few months ago I upgraded to an unlimited plan and I notice a major difference already in the way I feel. I think pilates is an excellent habit/hobby/workout to get involved with for a whole body workout. They offer a variety of classes. I saw the comment from the unhappy person who thought it wasn't enough of a workout for her and I wanted to reply to go to one of Rhys's cardio sculpt classes if you want your heart rate up.
The instructors are all very different and they make an effort to make every class they teach different week by week. I really love this place and feel safe there. It's also great to be around people of all different ages and body types. It's way more comfortable being there than at other gym or fitness places.

I really wanted to write a good review but after my experience there, I felt it important to be honest. I had never done pilates before especially not on a reformer so when I moved to Asheville, I figured I’d find a studio. Club Pilates offered a free intro class to teach you some basics and how to use the reformer. I took the intro class and was then swindled into signing up for a membership for 3 months that locked me in financially. I chose to do the 4 classes a month package because that was “the most affordable one” even though it was still very expensive. I started with the level 1 classes because I was told I wasn’t allowed to jump into the level 2s until I took a certain amount of classes or had an instructor approve it. The level 1 classes were way too easy (and I don’t mean to be cocky when I say that- it’s simply the truth). My heart rate never went above 70, I never left sore- it felt more like stretching than a workout. When I asked the instructors and told them I wasn’t feeling like I was getting a workout, one specific one was like.. you’re just doing it wrong and you should spend more money and take a private class… so the next class I took, I had the instructor watch me and they gave me zero feedback. For context, I’ve been an athlete the bulk of my life and body mechanics when exercising has never been an issue for me. I started signing up for the level 2s and took a few of those classes and I had the same complaints- they didn’t feel like a workout to me. Spending $35 on a workout class every week should at least feel like a slight workout. Also, I have to mention that although my schedule is flexible being that I’m a nurse and work 3 days a week, there weren’t many level 2 classes offered per week to make it even slightly worth it. I mentioned to the front desk that I didn’t feel like I was getting a workout in from any of the classes I took and begged for them to give me a refund on the remaining months and let me out of the 3 month contract but of course they didn’t do that. What a waste of money. If you’re looking for stretching and an easy way to enhance mobility, this may be the studio for you. But if you’re looking for a real workout, I recommend scorch studio- that Pilates studio is a real workout.

4/17/2023: Sophia has started instructing classes on Friday afternoons and does a great job of keeping the Reformer Flow 1.0 class upbeat and moving.

Great intro class with Courtney. I signed up for 8 classes with the July special. Initial commitment is for three months. Love the Reformer class with Rhys on Wednesday evening and Saturday at noon with Courtney. Now that I've completed over 30 classes, the Cardio Sculpt and Reformer 1.5 classes are my favorite. Now with 50 classes completed, Ashley is great on Monday and Vinita on Tuesday. I have also upgraded to an unlimited plan--it is worth every dime!
CardioSculpt with Rhys takes Pilates to a new level so be ready! It was a great workout. Kerri on Monday evenings teaches great classic technique. Stacey did a great job leading the Reformer 1.5 class. Addie is a great instructor when she's not teaching middle school. Tom is another great instructor who uses his many years of instructing to challenge you. Returned after a medical leave to Bonnie's class on Tuesday, a great class and a great instructor.

I was so nervous when I first joined Club Pilates Asheville when it opened in October of 2019, as I have never done anything remotely like it before. I needn't have worried at all. The owner, instructors and staff are most pleasant, kind and just downright lovely. I always leave with an exercised body, warm heart and a smile.

Additional Review: I love pilates because as a recovered anorexic and with all the damage I did to my body, I thought it would never be able to withstand working out again. I was wrong! I took a chance with pilates and I have never felt better or stronger. Thank you Club Pilates for being the hope for those of us that have suffered from debilitating eating disorders and body dysmorphia. I am coming to terms with loving my body as is and strong is the new sexy!

I am an active person, however a Pilates beginner. So far the experience has been great. It's a REAL workout with very low joint impact. I am enjoying learning the different things that you can do on the reformer; it's a very versitile equipment!
The app works well to schedule classes, but is not as efficient if you need to buy more class credits.
The facilitiy at Charlotte street is new, clean, and the staff is friendly. They could benefit from more parking spaces.

I'm so delighted to have found this beautiful studio that offers dynamic Reformer Pilates classes by exceptional instructors. The environment is inviting and welcoming, the classes are intimate and well structured, and the vibe is positive and uplifting. I used the Club Pilates in Biltmore Park and I’m thrilled that this new studio is close to me in downtown Asheville. It is really amazing. The facility is very nice and the instructors are awesome. I’ve really grown to love doing Pilates. The benefits are amazing. I play a lot of golf and can tell a huge benefit to my game. I’m a beginner and I feel every time I have a session, I learn something new. Instructors are patient and in such small classes, can really provide some individualized treatment.

I love Club Pilates! I do HIIT and was looking for another form of exercise to complement that. Pilates is just what I was looking for. The instructors and staff are friendly, welcoming & very knowledgeable. They have always been open to questions and do a great job of correcting/watching form in order to prevent injury. I haven't exercised in years, and I wanted to get back into it. I play a lot of golf, and a bunch of people told me how beneficial Pilates is to your game, so I decided to try it. Why not right?

I took an intro class and I really liked it. The patience, enthusiasm and level of knowledge of all the instructors is awesome. They place a lot of emphasis on form and proper execution of the movements. The last thing I want to do is injure myself, and the instructors are constantly making sure your form is correct. That's probably what sold me the most I'd say- if there was no direction or instruction I wouldn't have been into it. I am a total beginner, but I have never felt like I was "outclassed" or too much of a newbie; everyone is very welcoming. I decided to get the unlimited membership because I have been going basically every other day. Highly recommended.
