I signed up about a week ago for the Crunch fitness coming to Greensboro, I went to Charlotte to visit some friends and after that I decided to check out the gym. It was confusing at first but staff was very helpful and pointed me in the right direction. I'm not new to workout equipment, but i was new to the gym. It was very enjoyable, I was just asked 3 different times by 3 different people about signing up for personal training classes. A little overwhelming with 3 different people coming up to me, but again they were all respectful, and great to talk to and answer the questions I did have. I do agree with some others in the reviews here that more could possibly be done about making sure weights are put back where they need to be. But overall GREAT experience and i can't wait to see what the Gym in Greensboro has to offer.

Edit to original review: Of course I’ve visited the front desk on NUMEROUS occasions as well as had MULTIPLE tickets issued. For whomever the owner is to NOT THINK this hasn’t already been done SO MANY TIMES INSTEAD OF REACHING OUT TO ME TO RECTIFY IS EVEN MORE OF AN ISSUE. To tell me to do the most common sense thing that’s been tried almost every time I come to no avail is insane and insulting. It’s been escalated by not only me through the app numerous times but also through the workers at the gym more times than imagined. This is completely unacceptable.

First, I'd like to say that this does not reflect my trainer at all. I absolutely love and adore Coach Allen. I signed up at the end of August (which was my very first time signing up at a crunch), and my app has not worked properly EVER. It's been almost 4 months of not having a working app, where I can easily schedule or reschedule things if need be or see my trainers schedule. It's very inconvenient to continuously have it come up as a duplicate account, when there should only be one in the first place. For MONTHS I was told my app would be worked on, to which it hasn't been. It's been a very frustrating journey with that.

Crunch Fitness (University Location)
Warning: Facility is poorly managed, privacy is violated, and contract cancellation process is predatory.
While Crunch Fitness University does offer a large variety of equipment, the facility is completely overwhelmed during peak hours due to insufficient quantity and chronic operational failures.
Facility, Maintenance, and Serious Member Issues:
A significant amount of equipment is frequently broken and remains unrepaired for long periods. Furthermore, gym etiquette is non-existent; members routinely occupy multiple pieces of equipment for extended supersets and become confrontational if approached. Crucially, I have observed numerous instances of members setting up cameras and tripods to film, often violating personal space. This behavior extends to highly inappropriate areas, including the locker room. Cleanliness is another major concern, with staff failing to keep the floor clean, and weights often left unracked or heavily disorganized.
Staff and Contract Violations:
The staff at this location were neither friendly nor proactive in maintaining order or cleanliness. The most egregious issue, however, was the cancellation process. I attempted to cancel via email, referencing the specific clause in my legal contract that mandates the acceptance of email cancellations. The staff ignored this provision, forcing me to cancel in person, a clear violation of our agreement. When canceling, they failed to ask for the true reason (the numerous facility, management, and privacy problems) and falsely recorded the reason as "none use."
Due to this contract violation, I have been consulting on what appropriate actions could be taken for members who have faced similar issues with their cancellation rights. Proceed with extreme caution before joining this location.

Decided to take a mental break and go with a friend to get a workout in to help the stress that ICE and Border Patrol has caused in our community and figured a judge-free zone like this gym would be a good choice. I figured getting looks as one of the few Hispanics in the there from other members would be normal but to my surprise the views of disgust, hate and judgment from the actual STAFF was something I was not expecting. Giving people ugly looks, ignoring the “good mornings/hellos” and making them feel as if they don’t belong in a place that’s supposedly “judgement free, positive and inclusive” is definitely not what was expected in this establishment. I’m so disappointed that we all felt so unwelcomed we had to rush through our workout to stop the discriminating looks. Then Hispanic/Latino is already so frightened to be out in the community please do better Crunch Staff.

Somehow i was charged this entire time and it’s nothing they can do … although it’s in writing … Anywho I will be filing with my bank I thought there would be more accountability but the resolution was to just get me a new trainer and to come into facility. I decided to leave crunch. The fitness connection 1 mile away is litterally 3x as big and doesnt play their music so loud. Its also cheaper. BUT THE BEST PART is that even though people do film its not 40% of the gym. Crunch has more cameras then the big brother house. 4 out of 10 members at crunch are broke pretending to be fitness influencers.

I went online to join the KCMO location. Somehow it signed me up for this location. I called immediately to cancel. They took $27.99 out of my account but said they would refund me. This still hasn’t happened. So I contacted them via their web site again and now I’m told I had to give them 90 days and a 30 day notice and cancel in person. I live in Missouri! Via difficult dealing with them and still haven’t gotten my money back. Buyer beware.

Update: as you can see they replied to my review. I DO NOT LIVE IN NORTH CAROLINA! I can not do an in person cancellation. How do you not understand this? I signed up for your location by mistake. Do not have your employees tell me I’ll get a refund then not do it. Bad business.

5 stars for Krisann. New to the gym and in a bad mood, Krisann was the one to greet me at the desk. She asked if I needed a hug and until that moment I didn't realize how much I did. She was warm and bright and kind. When our sessions began, she always told me "take up space" and "you deserve to be here just as much as everyone else" - I live by that now. Working with Krisann as my personal trainer for the past 4 months has been amazing. She immediately understood my needs and adjusted everything to accommodate my pain levels without ever making me feel limited. Her wide range of experience shines through in every session. She's constantly pulling from different techniques and approaches to keep things effective and interesting. She's also just so much fun to be around. We're always joking and laughing, which makes even the toughest workouts something I genuinely look forward to.

It's also obvious that she cares about my well-being. When we weren't able to schedule sessions for a little while, she checked in on me, making sure that I was still moving my body, which is so important for me for accountability. I feel like I'm a person and a friend, not a client, but she helps me as a professional just the same.

Good gym with lots of good equipment to get a good lift. Sadly from 4PM-8:45PM, almost impossible to get a lift in without waiting. Insanely overcrowded at those times and while some of that is normal in the gym world, theirs is worse than most. Also the hours on weekends suck, 7-7 is kind of crazy if you have any weekend plans and still like an evening lift. Overall if you’re lifting during the day, 5/5 but that’s a rarity for most.

Disappointment, mistreatment, and outrage: this was my experience today.

Today at 6:00 am, I went to Crunch Charlotte University gym with great excitement. I wasn’t alone — I brought my 70-year-old mother, a senior woman I wanted to inspire and accompany. I wanted to show her the gym where I train every week.

My intention was for her to check out the place, do a light workout, and see if she liked it — maybe we’d sign her up for a membership. But what we got instead was a rude, cold, and completely inhumane response.

At the front desk, the staff stopped us and told me that my membership didn’t allow guests. What’s strange is that this wasn’t the first time I had brought someone. But beyond that — this was my mother, an elderly lady visiting once, early in the morning when the gym was practically empty.

Would it have cost them anything to show a little empathy, a little humanity, some common sense? Is it really so hard to allow an older woman to accompany her son to the gym, just once?

The staff was inflexible, unfriendly, and utterly unkind. The way they treated my mother was humiliating and demeaning. She was denied entry like she was trying to sneak into a private club. They offered no options, no solutions, no kindness. They made her feel unwanted.

I walked away feeling ashamed, angry, hurt, and completely betrayed. I’ve been a loyal client. I used to recommend this place. But now? I feel disgusted even thinking about going back.

And the worst part: my mother, who was genuinely excited to try working out, left feeling sad and discouraged. She told me she never wanted to go back. They crushed her motivation.

This isn’t about rules. It’s about human decency. And you lost that completely this morning.

🚨 If anyone from Crunch is reading this: reconsider your policies, but most importantly — train your staff. People deserve to be treated with dignity, especially the elderly.

To anyone thinking of joining this gym: think twice.
Because if this happened to my mother, imagine what they’d do if it was your mom. 🚨

Ill give this place 4 stars. So I travel for work and I go to different crunches in different states. Now here is my honest review of the place.

Housekeeping: I seen alot of people talk about how dirty this places is and honestly I get it. This place is big so it's a bit difficult for the staff to be everywhere at once. With that said they do have a member of the staff cleaning up, tonight one of the reorganized the weights which honestly is rare, I have yet to see this in my home gym.

Front desk: ok so im not sure who was the rude guy there before, but he must be gone or had some more training because the front desk staff and trainers greet you when you walk into the gym which is nice. It makes you feel welcomed and not like someone just silently watching you 🤣.

Now like I said this place is big, so it all most always busy. I been there at 6am, 12pm and 8pm. And honestly it busy but it doesn't feel like someone is breathing down your neck waiting for a machine. I started to come here this week and wanted to experience this place before writing this review. This place have more running machine than broken ones. Matter of fact there are a few... yes a few that are broken. For some reason the other crunch fitness i go to they always have something broken for weeks. So I definitely recommend this place. Its busy but you can get the job done.

So four stars from me, I would give five but there are some minor things that could be done. Such as making sure the wipes are replaced and trash emptied during peak hours. More trash cans around. Ect.

If I could give zero stars I would. I am writing this because I don’t want anyone else to go through what I’ve been through. This isn’t just a bad customer service story — this is a warning to protect yourself.
Months ago, I became very very sick with a serious disease that left me unable to move around much nevertheless go to the gym. My husband and I both had memberships, but he became my primary caretaker and obviously could not attend either. When I first called from the hospital, a young female manager treated me with kindness, asked for my medical proof via email, and confirmed in writing that BOTH memberships were canceled and that refunds would be processed and they were. I thought that was the end of it as she promised.
But months later, I was STILL being charged for my husband. That’s when I spoke with Jason — and it was hands down the most heartless, cruel, and disgusting customer service experience of my life.
Jason didn’t care that my husband had become my caretaker. He didn’t care that I had already sent medical proof or that I was previously told both memberships would be cancelled. He didn’t care that I had written confirmation from another manager. His exact stance? Only MY membership would be canceled because I was the sick one, not my husband. He REFUSED to refund the charges they continued to take, and told me my husband would have to come in and cancel his own membership, even though I had already provided proof and had everything in writing. Not only did he say that he would not refund us but that in order to cancel I will need to pay an additional $38 on top of what I was charged and lied too about.

I was floored. To be spoken to so coldly, with zero compassion, while I am battling a serious illness, was beyond humiliating and hurtful. Jason showed no empathy, no professionalism, and no humanity. He made it clear that to him, members are nothing more than dollar signs.
If you care about your health, your dignity, and your hard-earned money, stay as far away from this Crunch Fitness as you can. Jason is not just a bad manager — he is a cruel person who should not be allowed to deal with the public, let alone people facing medical hardships.
This gym is not a safe or trustworthy place. They will continue charging you, they will ignore their promises, and if you’re unlucky enough to deal with Jason, you will be treated like garbage.
Please, learn from my experience and protect yourself. There are plenty of gyms out there that value people — this Crunch Fitness is NOT one of them.
FYI: I have contacted corporate and am waiting to hear back from them as well regarding this matter.

The gym here has good equipment and knowledgeable staff. That being said I've experienced equipment being broken a few times and when it is it tends to take more than a week for them to fix it. My biggest complaint about this gym however is that if you want to downgrade or cancel your membership the only way to do so is to go to the gym in person. There is also a fee for downgrading and even when you cancel the membership they charge you for one more month

They brought me in with the gaze of there being a 1$ a month trial well come to find out that 1$ a month trial is really a 90day commitment and when your 30 days is up they will start to charge you amd the only way out of the membership is to pay out

Came here for a free day pass trial because I’m considering joining. The manager, Devin, gave me a thorough tour with ample information about the amenities. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the building looked clean and well kept

Omg!!! Where do I start. First the experience that Shaq created for me was beyond Amazing!!! He answered all my questions , provided all the details during a tour of the gym, and had the sweetest kindest energy!!! The gym was clean!! I then spoke with Marcus who had the best customer service energy he spoke like a pro, I can tell he knows his stuff. I can’t wait to meet with him in the next couple of days and get his guidance during our Kick Off session. I am truly so grateful to have come to this spot to continue my weight loss journey. These faces are a pleasure to look at. They smile and you can tell they care. Thanks guys!!!!

Writing this review as a visitor with a month only membership- this is a clean and large gym. It’s $50 for one month. I don’t know how it is in the evenings but during the day there are many patrons maybe University students where it looks busy but not overly crowded so that you cant use a machine. Everyone is there to do their thing and keep to themselves.

I am writing this 1 star review 6 months after my 5 star review when everything was good but it’s all smoke and mirrors. I have been on a payment plan for six months now and I updated my payment information yesterday and $1200 was taken from my account last night. Two 175$ transactions and then a 920$ transaction that I woke up to. I was told that in order to catch up on my payments I needed to pay 175 yesterday plus another 175 that would come out in the evening time. I said that was okay, if I pay 50$ per session for the past 6 months why is this gym taking $1200 from me in 1 day while I was sleeping. Beware this gym has great trainers and awesome staff but crunch gym itself is a sleezy company that will steal your money leaving their employees to have to pick up the mess and I was told today by a manager im NOT the first person this has happened to. It’s sad because I have had a great relationship with this gym and my trainer for 6 months now and the gym robbed me essentially. They said they can put in a refund request in my opinion that’s not good enough because that’s my rent money. It’s the end of the month. It’s fraud. I will no longer give my money to this business mind you they take so much from their trainers I would much rather do private training. I was also told that I can’t get out of training unless I show them a medical note from my doctor, which seems like a HIPPA violation in my opinion. I feel like I’ve sold my soul to a gym I was fine making the payment plans. I thought it was more than worth it but stealing $1200 from me when I planned to continue my training until December! I was planning on paying for an ENTIRE YEAR. crunch you lost a customer unless you make this right. I want justice.

Been going to crunch for over a year now and enjoy it. Trainers are nice and helpful and I enjoy the classes. Only downside is it gets really busy and hard to get on equipment during peak hours like right before work in am or after work until about 7 pm during the week.

I was in town for a few days and spent 3 morning workouts a crunch. This gym is immaculate, the machines are amazing and the staff is friendly, helpful and top notch! I would recommend to anyone and would visit again if I’m back in the area!
