About the Club

Martial Arts and Fitness have always been an intricate part of my identity. Both have enhanced my life in many ways, and played major roles in my transition from a chubby overeating little kid to a solid high school athlete, accomplished martial artist, and professional fighter. As my understanding of health and wellness has grown, and as my body has aged and matured, I have worked very hard on bringing together many of the beneficial aspects of fitness as well as martial arts. Through incorporating concepts from Original Strength, here at EDGE we have not only been able to help our clients gain more stability and increase their strength but also gain a greater understanding of how to instinctively move correctly. I am a new member and find this to be a gym serious about its clients and physical fitness training. The instructors are very knowledgeable and top notch. It’s a friendly environment with lots of equipment! The owner is very nice and ensures you get a good experience. I highly recommend if you are serious about building leans muscle mass and conditioning and challenging yourself to the next level. This is a good place.

Before joining Edge Personal Training, I was working out on my own but felt unsure about my form and progress. I signed up because I wanted guidance on lifting weights safely and to be part of a small group training environment. Edge has been exactly what I needed — a supportive, fun, and motivating space to get stronger and feel confident in my body.

Since starting, I’ve noticed real improvements: I went from barely lifting 5 lbs and struggling with yoga poses to lifting 25 lbs with good form and holding yoga positions with ease. I have been working out at Edge for about 3 years and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made for my health. I’d previously tried the Y, F45, and Burn Boot Camp and none of them stuck more than a few months and I never saw fitness results. At Edge, the trainers get to know you and push you, always ensuring your form is good and you’re doing things safely. I’ve gained muscle, lost weight, and am much more confident in the gym. Mona is a fantastic trainer who has also helped me pursue my running goals and will tailor classes for me. Edge is a true community I can’t recommend enough.

Edge Performance is so great! I was training with P90X for 12 years before coming to Edge almost 2 years ago. As I was trying to recover from a nagging injury, mixing up the workouts at Edge vs the repetitive P90X was the perfect fit. Great gym. The trainers are fantastic and the small group classes have worked well for me. I used to have a 1-on-1 trainer but realized I didn’t need that level of attention. If you go consistently the price is pretty reasonable. I’ve worked with Chase and Mona for about 4 months and have made good progress.

Starting my journey was a little difficult. I was unsure how to get started. I would get anxious walking in not knowing what to do. I decided to do personal training and was able to drop over 80 lbs. Life happens and I needed to find a new gym. On a whim I filled out a a survey on line and met Daniel with Edge, I did the consultation and realized immediately that I found the right place. The personal attention you get in the small group training helps you fill comfortable and challenges you. I have been coming to the personal training for 3 months and I can tell the difference in the way my clothes fit, my endurance,and my strength. Chase and Mona make you push pass what you think your limits are. I feel like I am constantly meeting new personal goals daily. EDGE has been great in keeping me rugby-ready.
Before EDGE, I was training solo and noticeably not pushing myself in the workouts - randomly working out whatever muscle group I felt like on any given day.

Since training with them, I not only maximize my workout time, but during the targeted sessions, I have an experienced trainer explaining how the exercise will impact my performance in rugby and life.

I would highly recommend EDGE to anyone looking for a home gym. They provide intimate sessions, educate you, and treat you like a real person and not a dollar sign.

EDGE has been a great experience. I had pretty decent workout routines before coming to EDGE but they were lacking in consistent lifting and accountability. Committing to EDGE helped keep me accountable to get up and go to early morning classes. I appreciate that the coaches are mindful with their workout development, focusing on things like balancing push and pull exercises and different areas of focus. On top of that, it's nice to have a space with all the equipment you could need. Long turf areas open up the opportunity to utilize heavy sleds and do functional exercises like weighted farmer carries and weighted movement exercises. Overall I highly recommend the flexibility and dedication that EDGE has brought to my routine, helping me add muscle, lower body fat, and feel all around stronger than I was prior to joining.

I started my weight loss journey in July of 2019 with a goal weight loss in the 3 digits. I knew I had to start working out and strength training, but I was apprehensive due the judgmental way some gyms and trainers treat a person of size. My thought was to lose most of the weight by diet change alone at first. However, a co-worker that has been a member of The Edge for 10+ years talked to me about the training program and assured me that Daniel and his team were very good, professional, supportive and non-judgmental. So, I went to meet Daniel - and that meeting changed my life. He was all of the things my co-worker said. His gym and the strength training/workout program that I have now been on now for 11 months was exactly what I didn't know I was looking for and exactly what I needed. It is hard, and challenging, but fun. His trainers are good, fair, friendly and tough. They are encouraging and supportive but will push you to do your very best and give all you can. Not once in the time that I have been there, have I ever felt judged, inadequate or 'less than'. Because of that I've been able to stay on my path. In a year, I've lost 111lbs; gained muscle mass and most importantly confidence in myself. I would recommend The Edge Performance to anyone that wants to make a change and is willing to put in the work. It will change your life too.

I have been working with Daniel weekly for a year. He is passionate about mixed martial arts which makes him a knowledgeable, positive, and fun coach.

He is always upbeat and patient which makes you feel comfortable learning new moves. He is also knowledgeable about mixed martial arts so you trust the skills he is teaching you.

All around, Daniel makes learning something intense and difficult, fun to where you always want to challenge yourself and learn more. He is a great teacher!

I met with Daniel about a week ago for an assessment. What the other reviewers are saying is true. He knows a lot about body movement, breathing and stretching. Me and my husband went in for an assessement because we saw their Facebook promotion and were amazed to find out how knowledgable Daniel is about body movements and how different his workout methodology than other gyms simply putting you through a workout. He really pays attention to small muscle movements and correct form to prevent potential injuries, which is crucial to me with both knees being injured in the past and have very little endurance to begin with.
We took classes with his trainer Raya and she is amazing. We paid for the price of small group training but what we get is the attention like a personal trainer. She is very patient with me and make sure I did the correct forms and movements. Her workout is never boring and time flies by. And I already see improvements when I do a sqat or a lunge and I feel great. I recommend everybody at all levels of fitness to take their classes.

I'm currently doing personal training to address my back pain and muscle imbalances. In the past I tried physical therapy which proved to be of little help (overpriced, little to no actual one on one with the physical therapist, etc). I've been to five sessions so far at this gym with personal trainer Raya and I'm impressed. Pricing is very reasonable and the gym is spacious with lots of different equipment. I love the personalized attention I receive and the emphasis on proper form which makes every workout count. I haven't taken any classes yet but I plan on doing so in the future.

I started taking self-defense class at edge training about a 4 months ago. I have loved it ever since then and Dan is a great coach. The gym is big and open and it has many different types of equipment to use. I personally love this kind of gym (in a warehouse) because it looks all creepy on the outside but when you go in looks really cool. I have nothing but great things to same about Edge. Everyone there is professional and cool from the owner on down. My trainer Jerome is excellent!!! I'm 33 with a prior knee injury and he has helped me to loose 11 pounds in 3 weeks!! He pushes me when I think I cant do anymore while always being safe. They have provided me with the tools to succeed. While also helping me with strengthening my knee. I feel great and for the first time I am actually amped about working out. I was seeking something new to engage my body and mind with learning "new to me" exercises and training. I have pre-existing physical injuries, so the first thing I did with Daniel was a flexibility and balance assessment. It was a reminder of basic fundamentals I need to master and progress from there. We discussed my general goals and each time we train he adds something new and exciting into the mix. Fantastic workouts! Daniel and the team know how to make all their clients more athletic. You will leave Edge Performance tired,sore, and fulfilled after every class.

The biggest benefit I receive is mental clarity. All the cobwebs from the workday are eliminated and I can think clearly after class. I credit much of my mental toughness and clear thinking to Edge Performance. My work week isn't the same if I don't workout a few times with the Edge Performance team.

I've been working out with Daniel for 10 years - hard to believe. Who sticks with the same gym/trainer for that long? Daniel just never stops challenging me. Every workout is different and I always leave the gym completely wipe out from a great work out. He also trains for all levels. In addition to training my wife and I, he's put my kids through the ringer. They're older now and have left Charlotte, but still talk about their Daniel work outs.

If you are looking for something that will challenge you and keep you challenged, Daniel is the guy for you. Today was leg day and I'm sore already! Who knows what tomorrow will bring - probably putting on the boxing gloves and taking out some aggression.

My daughter is taking kickboxing/self defense classes with Daniel. She is 11 yrs old and having a great time. When asked what she liked best she said, "I like the confidence it gives me, I like the strength and conditioning aspect and I have a blast with Daniel because he makes me laugh." I have worked out at Edge Performance Training for the last five years. There are many reasons I continue to choose Edge over other gyms, classes and fads. Daniel Ancheta makes every workout challenging and every workout is different! You may do bear crawls, burpees, mountain climbers, lunges and squat jumps during your warm up! Then the real work begins which could be suspension trainer push-ups, ski machine, box jumps, weight sleds, ball slams with or without a burpees, and perhaps boxing to exhaustion to finish the workout! The great thing is the next session you attend will be different yet always hard no matter how fit you are. The other great thing about Daniel is he is continually educating himself on new exercises and health trends. He also invests in his business by introducing new torture devices to make you fit! An example would be his recent addition of a medieval mace like weighted ball that he had us slam side to side while seated! I recently had several personal training sessions with Daniel, and the experience was great. I'm already in good shape, I just wanted somebody to teach me a few new tricks and to help perfect my form... and he did great.
